Definitely don’t look too close to the cover of this book or it will spoil the ending of the mystery! Because of this detail, this mystery wasn’t very exciting, but I was excited to see Harriet and Will’s wedding.
I will note that I thought both Harriet and Will jumped to conclusions so much in this book, they could have been at one of those jump park places with all the jumping they made. I’m shocked they didn’t ruin friendships with their different questions and accusations. I think I would have been completely hurt in those people’s shoes or perhaps I’m just too not confrontational and can’t image accusing a friend of stealing from me, but they weren’t too hurt over it once things were explained. This is obviously a minor complaint, but it was overall a decent story. Not my favorite of the series, but not a bad one.
I love these cozy mysteries set in England. Veterinarian Harriet inherited her grandfather’s practice in White Church Bay. She is marrying Pastor Will and they will go on their honeymoon to Scotland. But an heirloom brooch goes missing during the reception and that puts honeymoon plans on hold while they try to discover why it and other items went missing. The contemporary story is interspersed with a tale of the original owners from the 1800s. That had a bit of intrigue too. Lots of false starts when possible suspects are ruled out and a surprise when the real culprit is found. I liked the community and family aspect of the story, down to a niece and nephew and their antics. Harriet and Will make a lovely couple and their faith was evident as they pray for the brooch to be found and in how they have a heart to serve their community. *A complimentary copy of this book was provided by Guideposts on behalf of the author. Finally Harriet Bailey and Will Knight's wedding has arrived and as everyone gathers to celebrate their day, it almost seems perfect, until the lights go out during their reception. Uh-oh when the lights come back on the family heirloom of Harriet's has gone missing. She wonders could someone that calls themselves a friend really have taken it or did a crook sneak in amongst the wedding attenders? Harriet and Will put their special honeymoon on hold to search for the heirloom. They interview several witnesses and potential suspects as other valuables disappear. They must find out the truth and find these valuables. This book had some twists and turns that I didn't expect. Great read Shaen!
As we attend the wedding of Harriet Bailey and Will Knight , things are going well until the lights go out. Once the power returns, a family heirloom and a pretty toy are missing. Will Harriet be able to solve the whodunit before she leaves for her honeymoon.? I didn't see the ending coming. Such a fun read with the mysterious twists and turns. I received an advance copy. A review was not required.
Harriet and Will are getting married! But would their wedding be without a mystery or two to solve? This was a fun read, I really liked the that we get a historical time line within the mystery and the current day mystery had me guessing at who the culprit was. An enjoyable read in a series I love!
I thought Harriet was kind of obnoxious in this book. The way she went about accusing people of stealing her brooch was awful. I don’t know how she has any friends or a business. Why would you lay a brooch that is worth that kind of money on a table anyway? I liked the story of Catherine though.
Continuing on with the series, Harriet gets married in this one, and, of course, there wouldn't be a story without some mystery involved. This time a precious family heirloom goes missing at the reception and several other pieces of jewelry of family are missing as well. At least there isn't any fear for her life situation this time. Solving the crimes will not be what you think!!
"Borrowed Trouble" presents the reader with a cozy mystery in two genres ... contemporary and historical. The past melds into the present to provide a bit of romance, faith, and a lesson on worry and jumping to conclusions.
