The hardcover Five Silly Monkeys book with One (1) hand puppet glove will quickly become a family favorite! - Hardcover Five Silly Monkeys book - One (1) hand puppet glove - One (1) plastic carrying case
I like this little "hand-sized" version because the monkey's heads peek through holes in the pages. It also offers a tactile experience as the heads are made from molded plastic.
Very colorful book that helps teach the numbers 1-5. The tactile experience of little monkey puppets is a fun addition. It could also be used to teach the words on and off because all 5 monkeys are illustrated on every page but only the actual number is “on the bed.
This book would be ideal in a lower elementary classroom to introduce counting backwards and also as a good "hands on" book for students who are still struggling with the concepts of numbers or just need the tactile experience to "get it." Five Silly Monkeys is not only a colorful twist on an old childhood song, but it also helps bring the story more alive by having 3-d monkey faces. Everytime a monkey falls off the bed his face is no longer 3-d which would be very helpful for kinesthetic learners in a classroom.
What I like about this countdown book is that the monkeys' actions change from page to page. They go from jumping to eating to swinging, etc. We were able to move along to the actions. I also like the tactile aspect of the monkeys' heads.
My only complaint is that there are more than 5 monkeys featured on some of the pages so if we go about counting them, aside from just the featured heads, it could get confusing.
I like to kiss the little monkey heads. I feel sad that the monkeys got hurt. When we read this book, I turn to Mama and say, "Monkey is sad. He got hurt."
I also like to poke my little fingers through the holes where the monkey heads once were. There is a really cool monkey glove that comes with this book. Sometimes I love it. Sometimes it makes me fussy and I cry out, "No monkeys!"
12 months - I get bored of this style book and recommend owning just one of these that counts down from ten. However, we signed five little monkeys in signing class so the book allowed us to practice the signs, sing the song and in this version practice the action signs: Jumping, eating, swinging, sliding, spinning.
Cute book that children can touch and feel. The book says three and up, probably because the monkeys can be potentially pulled off and swallowed, but I think this book is appropriate for babies and toddlers.
If your kid likes finger puppets, go with this version. I prefer the other version [3-D but no puppets] because it's a bigger book, and counts down from 8 versus 5 in this book.
The children at the daycare LOVE this book (10mo-3yo)! The variations--jumping, eating, sliding, swinging, spinning--keep the children guessing and interested when the book is sung.
