NATIONAL BESTSELLER

Jackson Steele and Sylvia Brooks continue to thrill in the second novel of a scintillating, emotionally charged trilogy that returns to the world of J. Kenner’s beloved Stark novels: Release Me, Claim Me, and Complete Me.

I never thought I’d lose control, but his desire took me right to the edge.

Powerful, ambitious, and devastatingly sexy, Jackson Steele was unlike any other man I’d ever known. He went after what he wanted with his whole mind, body, and soul—and I was the woman in his sights. One touch and I surrendered, one night together and I was undone.

Jackson and I had secrets, dark pieces of our pasts that threatened to swallow us both. We couldn’t outrun our demons, or the people trying to tear us apart. But in our passion we found salvation, and in each other’s arms we found release.

I was scared to trust Jackson fully, to finally let go. Yet no matter the dangers that lay ahead, I knew I was his—and now that we’ve laid claim, there’s no more holding back.

On My Knees is intended for mature audiences.

Title: On My Knees
Series: Stark International Trilogy #2
Author: J. Kenner
Release date: June 23, 2015
Cliffhanger: Yes
HEA

This is book two of the Stark International Trilogy and normally I'm a little leery of reading the middle book, but this one turned out to be another decent addition to the series. A lot of times those middle ones tend to be a "filler" book. The one that's in between the /attraction/building of conflict and the last book with the revelations and resolutions.

While there were some twists and turns and more than one bombshell, this time around, there weren't any surprises for me. I was able to predict fairly early on what secrets were lurking behind Jackson's scorching looks and smooth smiles. Maybe I was just paying a little more attention this time? But whether the foreshadowing was a little more obvious or not, I still appreciated that the story had that same depth and intelligence to it that I discovered in Say My Name. Not to mention, J. Kenner is one talented lady and she can write one hell of an intensely erotic scene.

We're both wild. Crazed. This isn't about sex or love or even passion. It's about need. It's about release. It's about taking what we need from each other. Hard and fast and very, very thoroughly.

After the huge revelation at the end of Say My Name, we're left wondering how everyone will deal with Jackson's secret. How it will impact Jackson and Sylvia's relationship, and if that's only the first skeleton in the closet to come out. Well, let's just say that there's plenty more where that came from. Secrets, lies, and pretenses coated this couple with a brittle veneer that kept cracking more by the minute.

These two struggle to battle their demons through a lot of this book. Jackson fought his need to vent his anger through underground fighting, and Sylvia fought her bitterness, resentment, and pain from her family's betrayal. I have to say, what her father did to her as a child gave me chills and made me sick to my stomach. And the threat hanging over her head that being with a public figure like Jackson would expose her dark past was a looming cloud throughout the book.

The sensual scenes weren't as much of a power struggle this time around. Sylvia has submitted complete control to Jackson and they are very comfortable in their roles at this point.

She surrenders to him completely, and he gets to command all of their pleasure. It's a situation they both benefit from, and I must admit, I did as well. They were as scorching hot as ever.

It's raw. Feral. I feel a bit like his prey. And though I know that he is angry right now-that he is wild-I cannot deny the excitement that is arcing between the two of us. That is filling me. Making me wet and hot and oh, so very ready.

Jackson had an inability to be completely honest with her for a big portion of the book. It bothered me because it wasn't something minor-it was huge and potentially impactful to her. If it weren't for the fact that she was less than forthcoming herself, it may have frustrated me more.

What I loved about him was his fierce protectiveness. And he had an unmistakable desperation to hold them together when he felt them slipping apart. I liked Sylvia's resilience and ability to pick herself back up every time she gets knocked down. And as overwhelmed by the feelings he evokes, she's tough enough to tell him like it is.

Overall, a good second book to the series. While I didn't love it, it was still well written and steamy enough to melt more than a few panties. Of course, there was another cliffhanger (as expected with any trilogy) this time, more suspenseful than the last. I look forward to finding out what's to come in the conclusion.

"Intimacy's not a key, you know? You don't just get close to someone and expect that to open a door and everything comes tumbling out like an overstuffed closet."-Nikki

On My Knees begins directly after the conclusion of the first book in the series Say My Name. Although Say My Name ended with a "happy for now", there were many secrets and questions left to be discovered. It is a relief for Sylvia and Jackson to have time to establish their relationship however, now they are bracing themselves together to weather the storm. But one question remains- will they survive when all of the secrets begin to unfold?

"Sometimes families have secrets."

description

Regarding our hero....

"God help me, I want it all. And I have no idea if I can even come close to getting-or keeping-any of it."-Jackson

Jackson finally has Sylvia. And yet, he has so many secrets that could damage their relationship. Because of his love for Sylvia, Jackson reveals his relationship to Damien. Obviously, this revelation shifts everything between all of the characters. We finally begin to see the heartbreak that exists in him due to his past. Suddenly we understand why he is the man he is. Regardless of the compassion I felt for Jackson, he still harbors some deep secrets. Specifically a secret regarding a red headed female.

"But still, the question lingers. And yes, my heart aches a bit. Because though I don't understand why, I am certain that he is keeping things from me. Secrets. Big ones-big enough, at least, to eat him up inside."-Sylvia

description

Regarding our heroine....
Sylvia still fears her secrets will get out. As they begin to unravel, she seeks solace in Jackson. She is striving to perform a delicate balance between keeping her professional career on track and maintaining self control through the mayhem around her. The root of her secrets are more damaging then we could have ever imagined.

description

"If I need you? Sylvia, I always need you."-Jackson

Together, Sylvia and Jackson continues to flourish. The roadblocks along the way cause a great deal of advance/retreat between the two. The one thing that seems to keep these two fused together is their steamy sexual chemistry. Regarding this read, this was a home run for readers that prefer a little slice of "dark and sexy" with their romance stories.

"They could find their demons together. Yin and yang. Control and submission. Pleasure and pain. And on and on until they send each other spiraling over that invisible line where it all became the same. Where pain gave away to pleasure, and control revealed itself."

Overall, On My Knees is a fantastic follow up to the first book. I found comfort in these two characters finding their way together. What was somewhat troublesome for me was that they seemed to use sexual intimacy as a “fix all” for everything. These scenes were quite steamy and tender and yet, I struggled with the fact that they weren’t working on their emotional intimacy. It really made me question- is steamy sex enough? Still, even that lingering question wasn't enough for me to want to stop investing in these characters.

The writing style is unique in that J. Kenner seems to expertly build tension and then smoothly release it without causing any pain for the reader. In other words, as soon as I felt like I couldn’t take it anymore, there was resolution. There are still many secrets left to be revealed. So many questions that are begging to be answered. I was definitely pleased with the conclusion of On My Knees. I look forward to the next installment of Sylvia and Jackson's story. Bravo Ms. Kenner! You have indeed created more perfection!

Just not feeling this book. I'm beginning to think books that extend to trilogies and beyond aren't my cuppa. I lose interest and connection to the characters. I just wasn't feeling this story on this go around. As a side note- why is it in these more erotic books do, when anything is a major stress, the characters drop literally everything and have sex? I mean you'd think serious job stress or family stress would take away libido but they go at it like bunnies!!!

Things like that distract me from the story, I guess. Or maybe I'm growing a bit tired of cliche erotica books? Dunno. What I DO expect is when a big plot event occurs, for said plot to be addressed and NOT ignored for yet another sex scene to AVOID dealing with problems or conflicts. I'm REALLY not a prude, just a reader that's come to expect more story than just smut in order for me to really enjoy a book. Don't take my word for it here. I quit early and you may love this, especially if you like nothing but sex!

Sincerely,
An Apparent Prude

Alright, finally back with Jackson & Sylvia ☺

description

At the end of the first book, Jackson had just been arrested, because he beat up this horrible Reed person. The guy who wants to make the movie about that house & its family in Santa Fe - but more importantly, the guy who sexually molested Sylvia when she was a teenager.
And added to all that drama of course, is the whole 'Damien-is-my-half-brother'-thing that Jackson just told Sylvia.
And we're pretty sure that Damien won't welcome any son of Jeremiah Stark with open arms...
Will they tell Damien? Because this could probably cost Jackson his island-resort job.

Then there's still Jackson's need to go 'underground-fighting' whenever something bad happens - and Sylvia's need to have control about all things - or will she be able to give up some of her hard-won control in some very private areas?? ☺

Lots of problems and secrets still to survive until Sylvia & Jackson can have their happy ever after...

What will happen to Sylvia & Jackson?
Will there be a HEA?
Will everybody die at the end?
Or will there be a horrible Cliffhanger?

description

I'M NOT TELLING YOU THAT OF COURSE... ☺

description

l don't want to spoil anything ☺

OK - yessss - this time we have a tiny little (aka huge) Cliffy ☺

description

This series is just soooo effing erotic!!! Phew!!!!

description

There are so many amazingly erotic scenes in this book - some people might think it's too much - but pfffff - soooo not too much. I loved every single second of every single sexy part of this story.

description

...and of course the book is not all sex ...

it's an amazing story.... about secrets and family and pasts and futures and love and hate and forgiveness...

This new series in the Stark-world is another amazing piece of work by Julie Kenner...you sooo need to read it!!!

On my knees was an extremely erotic and moving & exciting romance. About secrets, about the past & the future, about family & friends, about having and giving-up control, about love & hate & forgiveness....

...and even if the story wouldn't be interesting at all - you still don't want to miss reading it - you'll sooo fall in love with Jackson Steele too ☺ ☺ ☺

Book two of the Stark International Series continues the journey of Jackson and Sylvia. We learned quite a bit about the secrets that Sylvia was keeping and what ultimately led her to run from Jackson all those years ago, but what we haven’t even scratched the surface of what Jackson is hiding... until now.

I have to admit, I nearly didn’t finish this one. It wasn’t the writing, because J. Kenner can write. But I just felt like it was a struggle to be interested in the whole story. Part of me felt like this was just stretched too far, that their story might not really contain enough to require a three book series. I did skim through most of the sex scenes to try to get to a part of the story that would grip me and hold my attention.

I did push through and although I did not love this story, I did enjoy it. I have a feeling the third book is going to bring to light a lot of outside interference and the ending of book two certainly left me excited for the third in the trilogy. But typically book two of a trilogy ends up being my favorite, so this left me a little confused since the climatic moments that I needed this book to have, just had one that occurred at the very last page.

I am hopeful that the final in this series will bring everything full circle and revive my feelings a bit for Jackson & Sylvia’s story.

3.5 stars!

On My Knees took off from where we were left at the end of book one, Say My Name.

I read it in one sitting, and even though I liked the first one more, I really enjoyed On My Knees too.

What I like the most about this series is that Jackson and Sylvia have a mature relationship, they don't play games and they don't hide secrets from each other.

I also like that they help each other when they're having a tough day or period.

Sylvia and Jackson have an intense sexual relationship, so the sex scenes in this book were really hot and sexy.

Overall, it was a nice read and I'm looking forward to the third book. I'm curious to see how it will end!

The second book in the Jackson Steele trilogy, a spinoff from the Stark International Trilogy with Damien Stark, held me captivated until the very last page. A deliriously happy 4.5 stars is what I give to this novel. There were a few minor things that I found myself not liking but you can't win everything, right? I have to say I do like J. Kenner's overall writing style and she didn't disappoint.

This story digs deeper into both Sylvie and Jackson, their relationship together and their lives without each other. Jackson has secrets, but then so does Sylvia. The two struggle to stay afloat with one another, as the seas get rough when parts of their pasts come barreling into their present. They have their first real fight which almost breaks them, wrenches are thrown into the hotel project, and much more which swirls around to keep the reader guessing where the cards will land.

This book only solidified my love for Jackson and I still say he's a better character than Damien Stark. Jackson isn't too proud to beg, to apologize, and to really try to be all that Sylvie needs. He's a dominant man, but doesn't let that override his sense of self and love for Sylvie. Jackson Steele is a complex, sinful, and sensual man who realizes love and family is important enough to fight for and even take hits for.

Sylvie continues to unravel in this book and I'm glad so we can finally get her. Her strained relationship with her parents comes to light in a very uncomfortable position. Sylvie must deal with Jackson's secrets, her own, and the outside world threatening to rip them both apart. While Sylvie tends to bite her tongue and can appear weak, I find she has an inner strength and I love that. You don't have to be this rocker chick or some overtly bad ass chick to have strength and this is what Sylvie shows.

I am so pumped for the next book and can't wait to see how all of this comes together. Jackson Steele owns a portion of my soul, much like the incredible Gideon Cross (Sylvia Day's Crossfire Series). I liked Sylvie in the first book but in this book I went from mild like to true like which is great for me. In case you didn't know, I freaking adore Jackson Steele. That is all.

As under my skin is around the corner, it was time for me to get back to Jackson and Sylvia story.

To say I had a huge crush on Jackson was an understatement. I was all over him.

I knew at the end of book 1 that even if both of them were in a good place, they was still a lot to process.

While "Say my name" was about forgiveness, "On my knees" is certainly about confidence. Both Sylvia and Jackson have secrets that might tear them apart. The way they are going to deal with them is at the center of this book.

Even if they are together, they are still insecurities that linger.
Sylvia doubts a lot, not about her love but about Jackson's love.
No matter how many times he shows her how much she means to him, it doesn't seem enough.

Jackson is still the guy I felt for: Gentleman, caring and oh so protective of the ones he cares.
The guy has a lot of thoughts to deal with he always tries to do what's right. He is still charming and he still sex on legs.

What I've liked with "On my knees" was how their relationship is never in the balance. They are moments of angst and you are left wondering what will finally happen but to me the only thing that was sure was their love and their need to be together.

The book is also very erotic. They are a lot of sex scenes. Jackson and Sylvia have a sexual need for each other. They need to touch, they need to feel, they need to be close and nothing stand in their way.

While to some, they could have some shocking revelation, I wasn't caught of guard by any moment while reading. Still I have to admit I didn't see the ending coming. And even if it's a cliffhanger, it only left you hanging with enough interest for what's to come.

There's a LOT happening in this second book of the trilogy! Just one surprise after another, so much that this one was hard to turn off. Jackson and Sylvia face many challenges, learning to work together personally and professionally.

One of the biggest issues in this story is trust. While Sylvia and Jackson have resumed their relationship, there's still quite a bit to discover about each other. Both have some serious, explosive secrets and figuring out the right time to share them with each other is awfully tricky. Fortunately, we're included in each character's reasoning as he or she worked through them. However, I came into this a bit wary of Jackson. You'll have to read the story to best understand where that comes from:)

Abby Craden continues to deliver a strong performance though I continue to feel parts are overly dramatic. In her defense, they seem to be dictated by the script and when applying voice to the words, they're just amplified.

I'm continuing to enjoy the series (yes, I'm surprised) and this one ends in a cliffhanger. The good news is that a 20-minute clip of the next book is included to ease the angst. It worked. Stay tuned and I'm looking forward to listening to the last book in the trilogy.

On my Knees (Stark International Trilogy #2) by J Kenner
4 stars!!

“...they could fight their demons together. Yin and yang. Control and submission. Pleasure and pain. And on and on and on until they sent each other spiralling over that invisible line where it all became the same. Where pain gave way to pleasure, and control revealed itself to be nothing more than surrender.”

This book starts where Say My Name finished, this is the second book in this trilogy which is the story of Jackson and Sylvia and is a spin off from J Kenner’s “Stark Trilogy.” I must admit, I was literally On My Knees by the end of this and I am in desperate need of Under my Skin.

This book is full of twists and turns as we build up to the grand finale. Some of these twists I saw coming but for the majority I was blindsided. J Kenner certainly knows how to toy with your head and your emotions and this was one roller coaster of a ride.

This is a story of secrets and omissions, some are revealed and others are left to fester leaving you with that overwhelming sense of foreboding as you are reading. It is that gut-wrenching anticipation that carries you through this book while you are waiting for the secrets to drop and then wondering what the aftermath will be. I had my heart in my mouth.

This is also a voyage of discovery for these two, reconnecting and learning to balance those fine lines between business and pleasure. There is no doubt in their compatibility sexually, I mean these two combust the pages, but with secrets between them it reeks of mistrust and it is this that I see as a potential stumbling for the both of them.

“I’ve said it every day since I saw you. I say it in the way I look at you. The way I touch you. The way I never stop thinking about you. I’ve said that I love you a million times, Sylvia. This is just the first time I’ve said it out loud.”

Sylvia is more open in this book, eventually she does confide in Jackson but will Jackson do the same? He seems to have more skeletons and it is these skeletons that cause the most problems. With the biggest secret of them all out in the open it was easy to see why Jackson was the way he was and goes some way to rationalising the animosity between Jackson and Damien. But this secret also leads to questions, questions of loyalties and again this brings about that mistrust, but one thing we know about Damien is that he is level headed and I loved the way this was dealt with.

“I’m not weak, I tell myself again. Because the more I say it, the more I believe it. I’m strong. Hasn’t Jackson told me so over and over and over?”

I know I am being vague, but with books like these that are plot driven it would be a crime to give anything away. In true J Kenner style we have that perfect balance of angst, suspense and heat. While lots of questions are answered, lots of questions remain and with that ending you just know that there is a lot more to come in Under My Skin. I have a feeling that with Damien’s experience with what we are now faced all will be OK, but now I have to wait and the wait is going to be agonising.

“Dude, you screwed up so bad you’re going to need Black & Decker to fix the damage.”

Once again, another great instalment and as usual it was great to catch up with Damien and Nikki. Have loved this series, and if you are not familiar with Damien Stark then get reading, it was he who got me started on my J Kenner journey.

4 "What Would You Do For Love?" Stars for the story and the narration! If you love your romantic suspense titles with a little bit of an edgier, alpha dom flavor, then, the Stark International spin-off series from the Stark Series by J. Kenner, might just be right up your alley. On My Knees is the second book in this sequential/chronological series that requires that you read or listen to Say My Name first to completely understand the suspense-filled background, as well as, the love story of Jackson Steele and Sylvia Brooks. Moreover, On My Knees ends in a big cliffhanger, so to hear the whole story you will need to commit to listening to Under My Skin (the third and final book in the series). Fortunately, however, Under My Skin released earlier this week, so the whole trilogy is now available.

On My Knees picks up where Say My Name ends. Both Jackson and Sylvia have deep dark secrets. The revelation and residual effects of those secrets will collide and bring forth one heart wrenching quandary in On My Knees. It will be impossible for both Jackson and Sylvia to be able to keep their secrets hidden from others, and they will be forced to pick the public revelation of one person's past over the other. Can Jackson and Sylvia possibly weather this storm that has them directly pinned against one another? Moreover will they both be able to cope with the loss of control that such a dark situation will undoubtedly unleash? Previously having learned to cope with their control issues by reveling in each other's dominance and submission, will they be able to continue that trust dependent relationship under their new reality?

Abby Craden returns as the narrator to render another above average performance in On My Knees. What I love the most about Abby Craden as a narrator is her undeniably sexy voice. Her portrayals add an extra sense of heat which is particularly fitting in an erotically charged series, like the Stark International Series.

Moreover, the continuity of keeping Ms. Craden as the narrator of this series, lends a sense of familiarity as she continues the prior voices that I have already associated with this cast. Varying her pitch for Sylvia's dialogue to a slightly higher pitch, so that she is easily distinguishable from Jackson, Ms. Craden also delivers satisfyingly distinguishable dialogues, so that it is easy to know who is talking without having to relay on dialogue tags.

I also enjoyed the breathless quality that Ms. Craden lends Sylvia in the numerous bedroom scenes. Perhaps my only observation (which is the same observation I had in Say My Name), is that as part of this effect, at times, the dialogue was delivered in a somewhat slow fashion. While this had the desired effect of heightening the feel of the erotic scenes, it also prolonged the listen somewhat.

All in all, I enjoyed On My Knees. Both the writing and the narration kept me engaged and wanting more. The one thing I will say is that this book has some scorching hot scenes, so you will want to listen to this one in private! Now I can't wait to see how the cliffhanger is resolved in Under My Skin!

I was at a bit of a disadvantage when I started this book. This is part 2 of a triolgy and while I did not read part 1, in some areas, I really wished I had. The author did pretty good keeping you in tune to some of the parts that are pertinent to the story, but you really miss the history, build up and past that brought Sylvia and Jackson to where they are today.

Even with all of that, I loved this book! It is smoking hot and Jackson is a dream boat and is oh, so sweet!! Yummmm! The author does a fabulous job tying these two together with plenty of steam and heat. Plus, they know each other well and are seemingly made for each other. There are a few roller coaster parts but it does not suck up the entire book, thankfully.

While I hate a cliff hanger, this one does end on one that is not too terrible but does leave so many loose ends that makes you crave the next installment! J.Kenner does a great job with the storyline, the passion, smoking hot scenes, and the character development making this not only an enjoyable read, but an author to watch for fulfilling and exciting books to come.

This review may contain spoilers, so fair warning, upon reading the review.

Intimacy’s not a key, you know? You don’t just get close to someone and expect that to open a door and everything comes tumbling out like an overstuffed closet.

First Impressions
Jackson Steele and Sylvia Brooks return in the continuation of the Stark International series and this one is where we get to see some twists and turns that will build into a crescendo for the finale of the series. In this book we get to see our beloved couple explore their sexual chemistry and the emotions that lay just beneath the surface, we also get to see some conflicts arise both in their careers and their personal lives that build in the conflict I know many would consider this a “filler’ book and while it has some of those aspects you also will see some aspects of other characters and their drama and how they connect with Jackson and Sylvia. We definitely get some fun Stark delights so if you are a Stark original fan, then this is definitely a series for you

They could find their demons together. Yin and yang. Control and submission. Pleasure and pain. And on and on until they send each other spiraling over that invisible line where it all became the same. Where pain gave away to pleasure, and control revealed itself.

Summary
Jackson and Sylvia continue on straight after book one, where they are working on rebuilding their relationship, establishing trust, and learning to forgive the past and to embrace their future. But it isn’t as easy as they think that it will be. Jackson is working on trying to fit into the Stark realm, as there is great animosity between him and Stark. Then we have Sylvia who is trying to work on overcoming what haunts her past while also trying to work with Jackson and give her full trust in the bedroom and explore their explosive chemistry and a new level of dominance and submission that is explored in the bedroom (and many other locales). But while they are learning on establishing what their relationship means, there are secrets that are unfolding, and will their relationship be the tidal wave that is about to crash down upon them?

What I Loved
Despite the fact that this one could be seen as a “filler ” installment, I found that this one was really crucial as it built their relationship in just the right way that seemed to fit this pairing. I really enjoyed seeing the way that these two are working their relationship and seeing them explore their sexuality on deeper levels. J Kenner definitely knows how to write her sex scenes because this book was smokin’ but in all of the best of ways. There is also such a deep level of intimacy that is slowly built throughout the story that you can help by cheer this pair on., I will say that this book ends with a cliffhanger, and I won’t reveal what that cliffhanger is, but just make sure you have book three ready in hand to continue on with. There is also a manner in which we see the involvement of side characters and the way that they impact our characters. I really enjoyed seeing how it ended up fitting all together in the end. You definitely won’t be disappointed in seeing Jackson and Sylvia continue on with their story and seeing their love deepen.

You are mine, Sylvia From the first moment I saw you in Atlanta, I knew there was no other woman for me. Not before and not ever again. You are the light that rfills my days and illuminates my nights.

What I Struggled With
There could have been more build-up of the plot in some areas, but other than that, was a solid installment.

Overall View
On My Knees is such a well-earned romance that crosses boundaries, opens the eyes to family secrets, and builds into a climax to prepare the reader for the grand finale~ truly a BREATHTAKING story to tug at your heartstrings and with enough heat to fog up the windows!

I need this, and I know that he does too. This connection. This union. It’s power and strength and solidarity. It’s proof that we can get through everything that has and will happen. That we can weather the gathering storm. It’s torment and treasure.

ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for honest review.

BR with my lovely Shh friend, Elizabeth......thank you dear.

This is the second installment in the Stark International Trilogy, featuring Jackson and Sylvia. It is part of a series, therefore cannot be read alone.

This book picks right up where the first book left off. Although we were left with a HFN in Say My Name, we, the readers, knew about most of the secrets both Jackson and Sylvia were hiding. This book is about the couple dealing with the fallout after those secrets are brought to light.

The shocking truth about Jackson and Damien's relationship is brought forth and it puts Sylvia in a tough spot, caught in between the two.

So yes, I want this job. I want the resort. I want Jackson. God help me, I want it all. And I have no idea if I can even come close to getting-or keeping-any of it.

You get real insight into how second rate Jackson was treated growing up, which leads to understanding how he is the person he is today.

Sylvia is trying to maintain her private life with Jackson and her professional career working under Damien Stark. Navigating between the two is daunting. She lives in fear that HER secret will be revealed.

The two come to together to exorcise their demons through sex......

Yin and yang. Control and submission. Pleasure and pain.

"I want to take you to the edge and bring you back in my arms. And then I want to hold you close, calm you down, and take you right back out again."-Jackson

But there are still questions and secrets between them....

Secrets. Big ones-big enough, at least, to eat him up inside. I want to press, but I don't. After all, I'm keeping secrets, too. He knows the what about the stuff that happened with Reed, but he doesn't know the how or the why.-Sylvia

Now onto my thoughts........

I love J. Kenner's writing. She writes some steamy scenes, sexy alpha males and creates some interesting drama. In the case of this book, the drama was ALMOST a little too much for me. As soon as Jackson and Sylvia were on good footing, something major happened or came out.

Then there's the sex.....Jackson and Sylvia "used" sex to solve everything. Want to punch something?.....Have sex instead. Find out a big secret? Have sex. Need to avoid talking about something major? Have sex. Mad at each other? Have sex. I guess I just felt like the sex scenes were in abundance and used as a ploy instead of talking.

We found out some major secrets(I won't spoil them for everyone) in this book and were left with a cliffhanger. My last thoughts are this.......there was lots more of Damien in this book, which I loved. To see him and Jackson come together on a tennis court for the love of children, was awesome. Also, there's something's fishy with Zee, Cass's ex girlfriend AND there's an office snitch, who I believe to be Rachel or Trent. I won't go into the situation with Sylvia's parents because I don't want to spoil it for anyone. But if it's made known that Sylvia's Dad KNEW AND encouraged what was going on, I hope he goes to jail or Jackson beats his ass. That is all.......

Another great read by J. Kenner.

2.5 More sex than substance stars!

Source: eARC for Honest Review Courtesy of Random House via NetGalley

Gah! I liked elements of the book but didn't love it. I liked the idea of it but this book falls into the category of more sex than substance. And the substance it did have fell into my least favorite theme of angst caused by miscommunications, secret holding and assumptions. You would have thought this duo would have learned their lesson from book 1, but nope.

Secrets. Big ones - big enough, at least, to eat him up inside. I want to press, but I don't. After all, I'm keeping secrets, too. (Didn't these two learn from the last book? Obviously not.)

At least they have loads of sex to ignore things like you know .... communication. Did I like Jackson? Yes! Was I happy to have Damien part of this series? Yes. Did I love Sylvia? Nope not so much in this book. Her character was a bit weak for me. Will I finish this series? Oddly yes even though I didn't love this book, I still have the urge to find out how all their secrets and choices are going to play out.

This is how the book played out in my mind . . . Sex, secrets, sex, secrets, sex, assumptions, sex, sex, miscommunications, sex, secrets, sex, some truths, sex, secrets , sex, sex, a big fuck up , sex, sex, then she decides to do a nude photo with Jackson (great idea take a new nude pic when your past is already haunting you. Super Smart.) sex, sex, some truths, sex then we are left with a cliff hanger of more ... assumptions. Argh!

"To me," I say. "And I've dealt with it. And I don't want to open those wounds."
"Sweetheart, we both know you haven't really dealt with it."
(True dat! But Sylvia probably won't get a chance to truly deal with it as she spends most her time on her knees)

Yes I know it was an erotica book but I still wanted and needed more substance besides secrets, assumptions and miscommunications. With this combination at times it made me more angry then to get enveloped into this story.

This story was a gripping and riveting roller coaster of emotion. Raw, passionate, and intense. Fantastic read that had me captivated the whole time. Seriously awesome!

There was so much going on - secrets, drama, mystery, intrigue, emotions, and intensity. It was all just so well thought out and developed. I was on the edge of my seat and pretty much holding my breath the majority of the time because I was so caught up in everything.

Jackson and Sylvia are just so passionate and loving. There were all these great moments between the two. I loved getting answers to some secrets but I have a million more. There were some hints about one of the secrets but the details surrounding it floored me. I loved being surprised!

I'm not sure how to describe the level of hotness when it comes to the sex in this book because it was just beyond scorching. This insatiable need Jackson and Sylvia have is so passionate and erotic that it took them to new heights. It was steamy and raw and emotional and just so incredibly hot I couldn't even focus!

All the details, development, pace, story, secrets, characters are just so well crafted. It had such a great flow! I was literally just lost to it. I couldn't read fast enough! Honestly, I think it's something you need to experience for yourself - a must read.

And the end, cliffhanger. OMG cliffhanger! I'm freaking dying. Edge of me seat holy-crap-did-that-actually-just-happen cliffhanger! Cannot wait for Under My Skin.

Excellent excellent story. I am completely blown away. J. Kenner is killing it with this series. 6 stars! For real. Loved it hard!

On My Knees picks up right were Say My Name left off...

Ms. Kenner lures the reader into the nitty gritty of Jackson and Sylvia’s relationship. There’s so much going on right now. There’s blackmail attempts, a murder, an arrest, secrets revealed, Cortez project problems, and a shit ton of sexy times.

Sylvia and Jackson are trying to figure out their relationship, and what they mean to each other, all while their worlds are crashing down around them.

I love both Sylvia and Jackson’s characters. They’re both so well written—strong, sexy, intelligent. Their sexy times melt the pages. But…I’m having some trouble with the storyline—it’s been done before. It’s very close to Damien and Nikki’s story—similar secrets, angst, regrets. I’m hoping book three turns things around a bit more.

Note: This is book two in the Stark International trilogy and is not a standalone. ~ Missy, 4 stars

WHAT?!? Of course I'm left hanging...what is the next one out?

Review to come with my tour date...6/29.

**FULL REVIEW**

“A month ago, he would have rather eaten nails than worked for Damien Stark. But then Sylvia had approached him with the kind of project that is any architect’s wet dream. To design a resort from the ground up. And not just any resort, but one located on its own private island. And she was handing him a blank slate.”

Jackson Steele is the best for the job and there is no one who can do what he has envisioned. But a secret exposed from brother to brother may change the game…and test Sylvia in a way she’s not prepared for.

“Even so, I’m sure there’s pain behind both men’s masks, and I wish that it was in my power to make this whole situation better for Jackson, whose love I cherish, and for Damien, whose respect I crave.”

Sylvia finds that her relationship with Jackson has progressed to a point of need. Neither one can go too long without the touch of the other; even though there are still unspoken demons of their pasts hanging over their heads, they fall deeper into a pattern of control and submission. Each bump in the road of their fragile relationship weighs on Sylvia…and Jackson.

“I need this, and I know that he does too. This connection. This union. It’s power and strength and solidarity. It’s proof that we can get through everything that has and will happen. That we can weather the gathering storm. It’s torment and treasure.”

Of course, no love story comes without its strife. Past transgressions, even family secrets are at stake when Sylvia’s young adulthood and Jackson’s first project (that they want to make a movie out of) is threatened. Now, they have to find a way to make both problems disappear without causing waves in the media…which they are both very much in the spotlight of.

Now it’s a matter of gaining control of a seemingly uncontrollable situation…

This is the second installment of the Stark International Trilogy and picks up right where the first left off. I can’t say I was hoping for a happily ever after because, let’s face it, I LOVE the angst of new turmoil within a relationship. I love to see the strength develop in the characters and the fight they have in them to stay together and work it out. That is what a real relationship is to me and I love reading about it, especially in the way Kenner writes it.

The little twists and turns this story takes had me smiling one minute and cringing the next all the while squirming in my seat. I love the chemistry between the characters, both familial and coupling, I couldn’t ask for more. I found the relationship between brother and sister heartwarming and honestly, that resonated with me the most…as well as how the family sacrificed one for the other. That hits close to home for me which just made these characters all the more real. Kenner has a knack for pulling the reader in and making you believe what you are reading is real…one of my favorite aspects of her style of writing.

That cliffhanger though…

J. Kenner has me on my knees begging for more of this seductively sexy and suspenseful tale.

Jackson Steele is as swoon-worthy as ever. I think I fell more in love with him with every turn of the page. His dominant, protective side is what every woman wants. His naughty bedroom (or outside of the bedroom) persona is melt your panties hot! And is romantic side will have you swooning.

Sylvia is her headed strong self. The inner strength she has is awe-inspiring. I am pretty sure that if I was going through much of what she does I would have broken down, regardless of where I was. Syl has many challenges and changes thrown her way in this book and she perseveres.

I am so in love with these characters. The fictional world of romance, sex and celebrity keeps sucking me back in. The cameo appearances from some of my favorite book friends makes me feel at home while the new characters keep the story fresh and exciting.

Kenner took my emotions and played them like a puppet. Up, down and inside out. What a glorious production it was. I need book 3 ASAP.

In the second installment of Jackson and Sylvia's story, the pair are together and moving forward with their plans for the newest resort on a Stark owned private island. Of course, as with any project, there are bumps in the road, and dealing with Damien Stark isn't as easy as both Sylvia and Jackson had hoped.
Aside from the resort plans, life has a way of interfering and secrets that have been guarded closely by both Jackson and Sylvia have a way of coming to light. Both have ways that they deal with pain, but those ways aren't exactly in their best interest. Can the pair learn to lean on each other in the hard times and trust each other enough that they are strong enough for everything that life throws their way?

I have to say that I am LOVING this series! Just when I think everything will be okay, Ms. Kenner throws another wrench into their lives. The writing managed to be both scorching hot and sweet at the same time. My only complaint is that this ended on a major cliffhanger and I cannot wait until the third and final book is released!!

"On My Knees", picks up were "Say My name " left off and now Damien is purposely putting Sylvia at odds with Jackson, I suppose to test her loyalty.
Secrets have a way of biting you in the pervebial ass, and for Jackson and Sylvia that is what they keep doing.
Regardless of their secrets they are keeping these two have a deep love and affection for one another, but how much more can they take.
Someone is ut to destroy them , the question is who?
Just wait till you hit the plot twist at the end!
Looking foward to the third book " Under My Skin", to see how Ms Kenner goes about this elationship rescue!

Yeah, more Jackson and Sylvia. Sylvia was a little clingy in this one, but Jackson was still amazing and so hot. This was a great middle to their HEA with lots of drama, hot sex, and Damian & Nikki. Her BFF, Cass is the best kind of friend to have. They still don't know who's leaking stuff to the press, but I still I think I know. Yes, there's a cliffy and now I have to wait again.

I love this story so far. This couple reminds me so much of Damian and Nikki. They really are made for each other. Sil really did have a rough childhood and was stabbed in the back by her parents. Other than Jackson's father being a complete A-hole I'm not sure what his real issues are other than the fact that he thinks his half-brother got everything that should have been his.

Actual Rating: 4.5 Stars!

“It’s as if he needs to consume me, to prove to himself that I’m real and that I’m here and that no matter what, I’m not going anywhere.”

Wow! What a great ride! On My Knees picks up right where Say My Name left off. And let me tell you there is never a dull moment. Just when you think you’ve got a handle on things and things are going to be smooth, a nice little curve ball gets thrown at you and all you can do is brace your self for the ride……

After the way things ended with Say My Name, I just had to know more, what would happen next for Jackson and Sylvia? And this book does not disappoint. I was pulled into the story from the very first page. I was completely captivated and unable to stop reading. I fell more in love with Sylvia and Jackson, if that was even possible. Sylvia and Jackson make such a great team. Their connection so deep, so real. They can calm each other with just one look and their ability to understand each other, without fear of judgement is just amazing. I loved watching their relationship move forward and seeing them trying to navigate all the obstacles that life kept throwing at them. And boy did life throw some curve balls at them.

Jackson and Sylvia’s bond was really tested in On My Knees. Lies, Secrets, and Blackmail is enough to rock even the strongest of relationships. But, no matter what was thrown at the two of them, no matter how hurt they may have been in the moment, Jackson and Sylvia were both very determined. They weren’t going to give up on each other without one heck of a fight.

To say I enjoyed On My Knees would be a total understatement. I was hooked on Jackson and Sylvia’s story and couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next. On My Knees is sexy, captivating, HOT, and full of some great twists. Twists that will surprise you and have you asking questions. And the end………You know me, I always have to warn you when there is a cliffhanger…..And this is a good one! I was totally having one of those, things are too good to be true moments and then BOOM! The carpet was pulled out from under me. I can not wait to get my hands on the final book and see how it will all play out!

Firstly Thank you,Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for the ARC for honest review.

Julie has done it again and given a story you can fall in love with {and a man}.

Did I just read that? Guess i did and have to say it was amazing.

With the aftermath of Jackson coming out and telling Damien the secret he has been keeping all these years, the reception is to be expected and now Sylvia is caught in the middle.
There is a few twists in this book that I never saw coming, and there is plenty of hot steamy sex, and a few people are out for Jackson's balls in this book and I feel sorry for them {his balls that is}.

Now I have to wiat for the next book which is so unfair as this one left on a bit of a cliffhanger and trust me it will leave you shocked.

DNF'd at 41%.

I did not set On My Knees aside lightly. I really liked the first book of the series, Say My Name.

It's not the core story that made me give up on this book. It was the lack of the core story being addressed. At 41%, I felt like it had barely been touched on. Instead of getting to the intrigue and the twists, it is just Jackson and Sylvia going at it like rabbits.

I didn't go back and count, but in what was all of about a day in the story, it felt like they had fucked about eight times. I bow to their libidos and stamina.

I get it. This is an erotic romance. It's supposed to have a lot of sex. I'm not naive to that and have enjoyed all of Kenner's previous titles that I've opened. I just wanted to get to the story.

What just happened?! *dumbstruck* I don't even know what to think right now. Didn't see that coming. At ALL.

Before THAT happened, my thoughts were I loved Jackson and Sylvia. They do fit perfectly together and despite all obstacles coming at them, they had each other. The reader can feel their love for each other coming off the pages; it's palpable. He understands her and she gets him. I'm excited to see what happens between them. Some revelations have been made that are life changing. I can't wait until Under My Skin is out. I can't even...

Jackson and Sylvia are BACK! More complicated relationship issues, more secrets, more revelations, MORE SEX!!!

This book has it ALL.

The most shocking occurs on the last five pages! But please, don't spoil it for yourself... delay and just enjoy the read. The build up to those last five pages is just WORTH IT.

Now, I have a feeling I know who/what/where/why, but I can't wait for the next book to confirm this for me. You won't either!

This is DEFINITE must read!

The second in the Jackson Steele trilogy, Kenner once again grabs a hold of your thoughts and shakes the feels out of you. Secrets abound. Truths are exposed. Vulnerabilities are laid bare. Lots and lots of hot tie-me-up sex is had. Basically, I’m floating in an ocean of Jackson Steele paradise.

Do I care that this cliffhanger and storyline is slightly reminiscent of Damien and Nikki’s story? no. nope. all the no.
But you might, so I thought I’d let you know that I’ve been tinged with waves of nostalgia and doused with a bit of de ja vu while reading this.

SINCE I DON’T CARE, I will tell you that I’m just about as in love with Jackson as I am with Damien. These are two brothers I wouldn’t fuck with (or wait, yes I would). Jackson pulls you to his side immediately. While he’s keeping secrets from Sylvia [AND ME], you also know that he is totally in love with Sylvia and willing to do anything to protect her. This type of steadfast loyalty had me dropping to my knees screaming ‘yes, sir’ faster than you can say ‘good girl’. Jackson knows that he’s been provided the precious gift of Sylvia’s submission, and he doesn’t intend to abuse it.

Of course, he does fuck up. But hey – equal opportunity over here – Sylvia’s not a ball of perfection herself. She’s forced to examine her own demons that are creeping up from her past. She’s a bit more giving with her secrets than Jackson, but she’s not exactly rushing to open up old wounds and split herself open while sharing her darkest memories. While the two of them endeavor to hide the darkest parts of themselves – for self preservation, I believe, more than anything else – the world doesn’t wish for that to happen and it all comes spilling out into the light.

I love that Jackson and Sylvia are stronger together than they are apart. J. Kenner writes a love story that, while not without internal strife, has you pulling for the characters to take on the world together. Jackson and Sylvia are a perfect balance to the other: Jackson seeks to control and Sylvia seeks to choose to give up control. These scenes are filled with sensual promise and teasing in ways that I haven’t read before – it’s hot, intimate, and a little kinky. YES, PLEASE. Their sexual appetite is extremely healthy, and I was more than happy to sit back and let them explore all of the aspects of their newfound relationship. Carry on.

Damien and Nikki are all over this story [I fangirled in the privacy of my own home] and you meet new characters – some of whom I’m pretty sure have shady things in the works. This second in the trilogy keeps you on the edge of pleasure and captures your interest with the threat of exposure. I’m already counting down the moments until book 3 is released!

I give this ALL THE STARS.
