This blurb sets this short, sweet book up well, in that it deals with sensitive issues caused by medical problems, ones that have led to Rowan feeling less than, unloved and unwanted in relationships, embarrassed by the necessity and constraints of his condition, uncomfortable in many social situations, and always on-guard for the unexpected need for bathrooms quickly. When he is sent on an unwelcome trip to Australia by his well-meaning best friend, the last thing he needs is a 13 hour flight and a double booking mistake.
The fates must have been smiling because Aaron has an extra bedroom in his suite and he offers it to Rowan. It quickly becomes apparent to Aaron that Rowan has a problem, and his Daddy side emerges quickly to help Rowan, revealing his kink in the process. Although unsure, Rowan finds he gets a sense of protection and safety with Aaron, able to ask for and accept help when offered. The connection is strong and the relationship moves forward quickly, Rowan finding a sense of freedom and exploration he has not had for years. Finding out that Daddy is from the same town as Rowan makes it possible for the relationship to continue once home, so they can explore if things can work when back in the real world as they juggle Aaron’s schedule as a doctor and Rowan’s schedule of long hours in his job.
These characters are endearing. I adored Rowan, he had a killer sense of humor at times and was a brat for Daddy at others. Aaron was so sensitive to Rowan’s thoughts and moods, emphasizing there was nothing wrong with Ro, the embarrassment and disappointment he had felt was on his exes, not Rowan, and Daddy would always be there for him. Aaron helped Ro explore new things or do things he had stopped doing for years because of fear and embarrassment, and he introduced him to others like himself, which increased his self-confidence. A whole new world opened up to Ro, making him more comfortable in his own skin, and happier with his life overall, all due to his Daddy.
This was a kink I hadn’t read much about in the Daddy/boy/little books I had read, and I thought it was handled with real sensitivity toward men with incontinence or ED problems due to medical causes, not due to a choice of kink. The feelings Ro experienced seemed very realistic to me, and Aaron’s total acceptance and his calm outlook was exactly what Ro needed to come into his own and enjoy his life. I was so impressed with the author’s sensitivity and acceptance shown toward the issue, it just made me feel that men with this issue in real life needed people like Aaron in their life (Daddy or not) to reflect a more caring and understanding attitude. I found myself really caring for these two characters, invested in their relationship going forward. I would give 10 stars if I could, I was that impressed and involved in their story, and I would recommend this book without reservation to anyone who hadn’t read much about this kink. I think I had a better understanding of the dynamic, once finished. Well done, Anna Sparrows!
