Laurel Jennings never meant to break the rules. But when she’s stood up—again—by her hotshot shortstop boyfriend at a rooftop bar, she doesn’t expect his teammate to show up instead. Quiet, brooding Jordan McCallister hands her the exact wine she ordered… and looks at her like he’s been waiting his turn for years.
She knows better than to fall for another Atlanta Arrows player. Especially not the backup catcher with everything to lose. But after months of being treated like second-best, Jordan’s attention feels like the first real thing in a long time.
Jordan’s spent three seasons riding the bench, playing it safe, and keeping his feelings hidden. But watching Mason humiliate the woman Jordan’s been quietly falling for? That’s a curveball he can’t let slide. Stepping in might cost him the shot he’s worked his whole career for—but letting Laurel slip away would be the biggest loss of all.
In a world where loyalty has rules and love comes with a price, they’ll have to is this just a post-breakup spark… or the kind of fire worth burning it all down for?
This was my first time reading a Charlie Franklin book and I’m so excited to have discovered her!
This book was quick but it was so enjoyable. I loved that this book was dual POV. Our MMC Jordan is an absolute cinnamon roll for always remembering every detail about our FMC Laurel. Laurel finally realizing her worth and going after the good guy made my heart so happy. The spice was steamy and I really didn’t want this book to end. Can’t wait to read another one of Charlie’s books!
