Photographer. Journalist. Stalker.I didn’t mean to be. As a Hollis Alpha, my only job is to be the best. My name is on every excerpt in the biggest magazines, my pictures winning every possible competition, my art selling out galleries. But the sweet little Omega caught in my lens is my new fixation, a new neighbor & popular camboy who I can’t get out of my head. I want to paint him, capture him, frame him, consume him. My career starts slipping when I find myself obsessed with a man I shouldn’t want and can’t have. After all, the Hollis’ Alphas are spoken for. Paid for with bribes and connections to the highest bidder. Unfortunately for my family, I’m feeling adventurous, and it doesn’t involve following the rules. Muse is an 18+ MM Mpreg Omegaverse with an Alpha obsessed with his next door neighbor, who just so happens to be the fixation he needs to break out from his oppressive family.

Loved the mutual pining and yearning, and the rich boy v cam boy dynamics. Mavi is a dominant omega and perfect for the secretly submissive alpha who lives next door. Sai is struggling with family pressures/ expectations and the need to project as a perfect compliant alpha, when really all he wants is some quiet, not to make decisions, and to swoon over the omega neighbour he is obsessed with. I loved Sai's secret wall dedicated to Mavi, how they share artistic interests, and how they bond so naturally. There is plenty of family drama, mental health rep, and a wholesome relationship.
I generally like this author’s omegaverse books, but sadly I didn’t enjoy this one. The book started off okay, but then I lost interest pretty quickly. I was about to DNF halfway through, but I kept reading until the end—unfortunately, it didn’t get any better for me.
I got an extreme case of smut overdose and started skipping the steamy scenes pretty quickly—there were just way too many of them—and it felt like there wasn’t really anything else to the story—Sai and Mavi’s relationship was based largely on just sex. And the scenes still managed to be rushed and repetitive. This whole thing was also emphasized by the fact that Mavi is a cam boy and creates sexual content for a living.
Normally, I love neurodivergent characters in books (and Sai seemed to be written as one), but for some reason I couldn’t connect with Sai the way I wanted to, or even liked him that much. The overall execution just didn’t quite work.
I have to say, though, in this book’s defence, that I currently seem to be in a reading slump, and no book has really clicked with me lately, so it’s possible that at another time I might have been able to enjoy this more—or not.
I absolutely love this genre, and N. Slater always delivers something that pulls me right in. There’s something about her writing style that makes the characters feel so real and the emotions hit just a little deeper, and this book was no exception.
Mavi completely stole my heart. He’s adorable, lovable, and has this softness about him that makes you instantly want to protect him. There’s a warmth to his character that balances everything around him, and I found myself smiling every time he was on the page. He brings that light, that comfort, and that sense of home that makes the story feel grounded.
But Sai… I think I might love him even more. His story is heartbreaking in so many ways. The things he’s gone through, the way he’s had to survive, and the struggles he continues to face—it all adds so much depth to his character. You can feel his pain, his resilience, and the weight he carries, and it makes you root for him so hard.
And when Sai and Mavi come together? That’s where the magic happens. Their relationship is such a perfect balance of healing and support. They don’t “fix” each other, but they give each other the space, understanding, and love needed to start healing. It’s tender, emotional, and so beautifully written that it just grips your heart and doesn’t let go.
This story had so much depth, emotion, and connection. It’s one of those books that makes you feel everything—from heartbreak to comfort to love—and it stays with you long after you finish it.
N. Slater — Muse: A Dark MM Mpreg Omegaverse (Hollis Rebellion)
This was hands down one of my favorite reads of 2026. N. Slater absolutely delivered with the storytelling, character depth, and emotional intensity from beginning to end. The way the author lets us dive deep into the minds of the characters made everything feel so immersive and real. Watching their lives intertwine and seeing how their connection developed kept me completely hooked.
Sai & Mavi were written so beautifully. Their personalities, emotions, and chemistry unfolded in such a natural and captivating way that I genuinely could not put this book down until the very last page. Every chapter pulled me in deeper.
N. Slater continues to push boundaries with her storytelling while keeping readers on edge, emotionally invested, and desperate to know what happens next. This book had obsession, tension, emotion, and addictive energy wrapped into one unforgettable story.
Another phenomenal read from an incredible author. I also really appreciate that N. Slater always includes trigger warnings—it truly means a lot as a reader. I cannot wait to add this book to my collection and read more stories from this world in the future.
I broke every rule my family ever set for me the night I let him in. Not when I opened the door, and not when he pushed me back into my apartment. I broke them the moment he told me to be good, and I realized I would do anything he asked.
Gahhhhhhh I cannot express enough how much I absolutely LOVED this book. Navi & Sai 🔥🔥🔥 And man was Sai an Alpha after my own heart. The devotion of a perfect sub is how I would describe the way he FREELY kneels for Mavi. 🫠🫠 And the way Mavi was so fiercely protective of Sai and his peace was 🥵🥵🥵. Secondary character that won over my heart was Koda, he was such a loving cousin to Sai. He stood by him and was so supportive. He burnt bridges without a second thought to protect sweet baby Sai. The devotion is🥵🥵🥵. I CANNOT wait for his book.
My review: Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Spice 🔥🔥🔥/5 Plot 📚📚📚📚📚/5
My favorite quotes: He will kneel and I will let him.
Every single time the noise gets too loud, I will come to him. Because he opens the door. Because he takes the chaos. Because he makes me quiet. And because, for the first time in my life, I believe I am allowed to be kept.
“You’re so pretty like this, Alpha,” I tell him, voice breathy with pleasure. “All flushed and desperate, trying to hold it together while I use you.
Mavi belongs to the subscribers for an hour. He belongs to me for everything else.
“We’re already okay, Doll. We’re together. That’s the only thing that matters.”
1st person, present tense, dual PoV Sai Hollis (28), alpha (sandalwood), photographer Mavi (25), omega (citrus/honey), painter, model, adult content creator on Velvet
I can't recall how this ended up on my TBR but I'm so glad it did. This is my first book by the author and it won't be my last.
I adore the relationship between these two and how perfectly they complemented each other. My heart broke for poor Sai and the pressure he felt to live up to his family's high expectations for conformity and perfection and rejoiced at the comfort he found with Mavi. I loved their mutual obsession with each other and especially Mavi's ability to read Sai so well and provide him with exactly what he needs, not that Sai wasn't supportive of Mavi when he needed to be.
While I found the secondary character development and world building/character history a little underdeveloped I enjoyed these two together so much that it hardly mattered and I am looking forward to the next book of the series
“They don’t get to choose for me anymore. And they sure as hell don’t get to choose for you.”
Tropes: 24/7 D/s dynamics, kneeling and collaring, soft stalking, neighbours to lovers, hurt/comfort, camboy Omega Rating: 5/5
I have been (im)patiently waiting for Muse for so long. This is the first book I ever had pop up by N Slater, a friend showed it to me and I added it to my TBR and I've been thinking about it ever since. When the ARC dropped I was so excited and it did not disappoint! Mavi and Sai burrowed into my heart and won't be going anywhere anytime soon. I adored the flipped dynamics and how it started out being Mavi just needed an Alpha who he didn't want to submit to all the time, to recognising that Sai desperately needed someone to take his choices away from him so he could breathe. My only complaint (so not really) is I want to see more of them! I feel like I often say with N's books that I just didn't want it to end and this was no exception.
Camboy (and painter) x photographer, rich x poor, submissive alpha x dominant omega, neighbors, secret identity (for a short while), "good boy," "pet," bdsm dominant x submissive, collaring
Finished this in one sitting. You can feel how suffocating Sai's life was like as a Hollis alpha with all the expectations and having to make so many decisions that he didn't want to make. Mavi was the perfect omega for him, someone who can take charge and is ok with making all the decisions. Sai and Mavi were both secretly watching the other without knowing the other was already obsessed with them.
I love the mutual obsession and slight hidden identity that wasn't a secret for long. Sai and Mavi's chemistry was magnetic and they fit so well together in every scene. You can tell the difference in Sai every time he's with Mavi or after he's been with him. Loved seeing them together and finding they were perfect matches.
This is only the second book I've read from this author, but at this point, I'm officially a fan. 🖤✨
Mavi absolutely stole the show for me. The confidence, the power, the attitude... I loved the way he embraced his sexuality and owned every room he walked into. 🔥💅 His feistiness had me grinning the entire time because he never backed down and always stayed true to himself. 👏
I was also completely captivated by N. Slater's writing style. There's something about the way the story flows that pulls me in and keeps me turning pages. 📖✨ The characters feel vibrant, the emotions hit when they need to, and the chemistry was impossible to ignore. 😮💨🔥
After reading my second book by this author, I can confidently say I'll be picking up more. If you're looking for memorable characters, great chemistry, and writing that keeps you hooked, N. Slater is definitely an author worth checking out. 🖤📚
Wow, this book was very entertaining. But wonderful characters , you will definitely fall in love both MM characters this book does have d's dynamic mpreg omegaverse i truly enjoy reading this book both characters learn to lean on each other strength and was able to be open with each other perfercence and be okay with loving each other for who they are. not what other think they should be. I highly recommend reading this book
Muse, book 1 of the new series Hollis Rebellion, by N. Slater @authornslater As always, a great book by Nic!
What a fabulous book about Sai & Mavi! Tropes: Contemporary, Omegaverse, Gay Romance, Cam Work, Dominant Omega/submissive Alpha, Family Drama, Unexpected Heat, No 3rd Act Break Up & HEA!
Ok, I absolutely adored this book. From the beginning, I fell in love with Sai, and I couldn’t wait for him to get his hea. Mavi was perfect for him, exuding the stability that Sai so desperately needed. I loved the submissive alpha and dominant omega dynamic, even when Mavi went into heat. And the acceptance of Mavi being a camboy was nice to see. Overall, it was a fairly emotional read, but I was completely obsessed with Sai’s character. I also loved Koda and can’t wait for his book. Go check this out!

Mavi and Sai, I loved these two so very much! I enjoyed their dynamic together and their times together! The other characters in the story are really good as well. These two drew out my emotions, and I honestly felt so very much for them. This is an ARC review.
Love it but I wish the mpreg was more of the story. But I love Mavi and how he stood up for Sai. Even though Sai is an alpha he definitely found his omega match in Mavi. I don’t like Sai family but I’m glad these two had each other. I can’t wait to read Kodas story.
