Okay so this is WAY too young for my nephew... The words are ones he knows though their meaning is confusing for him... PLUS he likes robots... So we got this for him to practice what the words mean and it worked SO WELL for that!! I'd say it was a great book to teach opposites to a young or special needs child and to even have in a home library if the child enjoys robots.
The illustrations were charming and captured our imagination! I do wish though that the pictures represented their words better. Especially since we were trying to teach opposites and with different robots of different colors it didn't communicate well to my nephew that they were reflections of each other because the illustrations didn't reflect.
So good at teaching the specific word's meaning... great for robot lovers... needed in a home library to teach opposites (they will learn these over time as they come to grasp the meaning of each word). Really we were pleased at it's intended purpose even though it didn't show opposites perfectly for a library read.
And of course the fold outs were a TOTAL HIT!! My nephew ADORES books that DO THINGS and have something a little different than turning pages so that was an extra benefit...
BOTTOM LINE: Fun word game for beginner readers! ______________________ You can find this review and many others on my book blog @ Perspective of a Writer. See my picture book reviews in a special feature called Boo's Picture Gallery...
Great opposites book, very fun with lift-the flap elements to keep the baby and young toddler crowd engaged. Great for either robot or opposites story time!
