I signed up to wrangle campers. Not catch feelings for the camp director.
Especially not Max Harper—the absurdly hot guy eyeing me like I’m the last s’more at the fire pit.
It’s a bad idea. A really bad idea.
✘ He’s my boss. ✘ My best friend called dibs. ✘ He’s gutting this camp in the name of “modernization.” ✘ He treats kids like aliens from a planet he’s never visited. ✘ He smells like pine and woodsmoke and makes me forget I’m not ready for any of this.
But the way Max looks at me? I forget every warning about charming strangers and dark woods.
One kiss spirals into two. Secret moments stack up like kindling. And somewhere between moonlit swims and campfire sparks, it starts to feel like more.
Like magic. Like a fairytale. Like we’ve slipped into our own little bubble.
And for a moment, I let myself believe it’s real.
Even though I know— Summer always ends. And bubbles always burst.
A steamy, slow-burn romance for fans of big feels, snappy banter, and unforgettable summer nights. Steam 4/5. It’s open-door romance—cabin door flung wide and the crickets hear everything.
Sarah Towns writes about men you shouldn’t want—but oh, you do.
Her books are packed with tension that smolders, banter that bites, and that delicious moment when you’re yelling “Just kiss already!”—and then they do. Steamy, swoony, and emotionally satisfying, her romances are for readers who love the build, crave the payoff, and expect their happily-ever-afters with a hefty side of open-door heat.
Sarah lives in a no-stoplight town in Washington, where her imagination roams freer than her Wi-Fi signal. When her mind kept wandering to fictional kisses during office meetings, she figured it was time to let her characters out—and she hasn't looked back since.
I was lucky enough to be able to read Our Own Little Bubble before official publication (thank you to Sarah Towns and Booksprout🌱) and wow it was amazing. Everything was so well thought out and executed. The book is about Max, a secret millionaire who now owns a summer camp that is near and dear to his heart (but in over his head in this environment) and head counselor, Sadie, who is a summer camp pro, enraged by the changed made by the new owner. They both must work together to make the summer the best they can for the kids. They each come with their own emotional baggage, Max has his share of secrets, Sadie has her anger defense mechanism and seeing how they let their walls fall down while falling for each other was beautiful. Oh my gosh the chemistry between the two is insane. This book has one of the most (if not THE most) romantic scenes I have ever read. It had me swooning and it was so vulnerable that it felt more personal than any of the spicy scenes (which were the perfect amount of spice) But you will have to read it to find out which romantic scene I’m talking about 😉 I don’t usually love references to “real life” media in books, I feel like it takes me out of the fantasy world being built, but the Princess Diaries and Parent Trap are my favorite movies of all time so it made the book that much sweeter. The different Princess references made me smile every time. You will not be disappointed picking this one up!
I went in to this read, expecting a cute little romance, and came out the other side an emotional puddle, fully in love with Sadie, Max, the camp, and every single heart-wrenching, healing moment between them.
The banter? Top-tier. The yearning? Delicious. The chemistry? Off. The. Charts. You feel every glance, every brush of the hand, every unspoken word hanging in the air. Sarah Towns didn’t just write romance—she breathed life into it. Sadie and Max are two broken, beautiful people carrying so much loss, and watching them slowly, vulnerably let each other in… it was intimate in the deepest emotional sense. The kind of love story where healing is just as important as the kisses.
And let’s talk about that setting—oh my god, the camp and the wilderness were described so vividly, I wanted to pitch a tent right there, roast marshmallows, and just live in that world. It wasn’t just a backdrop; it was a whole vibe, a feeling, a character in its own right.
Also, where there are kids in a story, there’s chaos, sweetness, and all the feels—and the kids in this book absolutely delivered. They were funny, smart, and so instrumental in nudging Sadie and Max toward each other. You could tell they were more than plot devices—they felt real, and they made everything more tender and grounded.
The shared grief between Sadie and Max was handled so gently and truthfully. Max’s relationship with his dad? Just ugh, my heart. You feel how much his father meant to him through all those subtle mentions. The man’s legacy lives in every inch of the camp, and it’s clear Max is doing everything he can to honor him. His dad would be so proud.
And Sadie. Sweet, sunshine Sadie. What her family put her through? Unforgivable. The way they dismissed her, forgot her birthday—like, are you kidding me? She deserves fireworks and cake and the moon. But thankfully, we have Max. Max, who sees her, really sees her. Who respects her, supports her, pushes her gently and loves her so fiercely. She is the light of the book and he is her steady ground.
And I’ve got to give a shoutout to Violet—what an incredible friend to Sadie. She’s the kind of ride-or-die every sunshine girl deserves. Loyal, funny, and always in Sadie’s corner, Violet brought warmth and balance, and I adored every scene she was in.
As for Jason—I'll admit, I wasn’t sold on him at first. He was rough around the edges, and I had my doubts. But once he started getting the help he needed and showed up as the brother Max had been missing? Total turnaround. By the end, I really respected the guy. Growth like that is worth rooting for.
This book made me laugh, cry, scream at the pages, and kick my feet like an absolute fangirl. I devoured it and loved every second.

I absolutely loved watching the relationship between Sadie and Max bloom in this sweet romance book. The secret owner and camp counselor may not see eye to eye at first, but they soon find out they have the same mission, save the camp. Very cute with just the right amount of spice.
Our Own Little Bubble is a warm, funny summer romance that blends vulnerability with heat. BookSloth loves nothing more than a campfire, a good book, and romance under the stars—and this book delivers. Its strengths lie in voice, character chemistry, and heartfelt emotional stakes.
What starts as a light enemies-to-lovers camp romance quickly unfolds into something deeper and more emotionally grounded. The “emotional jug” scene is a standout—raw, vulnerable, and beautifully written. It comes early, perhaps a little before the reader is fully invested, but the impact certainly lands.
Sadie and Max’s chemistry is electric, with plenty of tension and some satisfyingly spicy scenes along the way. The spice is steamy without overshadowing the emotional beats.
Sadie’s emotional arc is also well-handled. Topics are sensitively explored and—most importantly—resolved in a way that feels honest and earned, without forcing a big dramatic moment.
There is a high-stakes camp incident that pushes the story into more dramatic territory. It’s effective and adds urgency, but it also adds to the overall length—while the pacing remains engaging throughout, the middle could be tightened to keep the momentum as sharp as the emotional beats.
BookSloth’s only real (loving) gripe? One cringe line during a particularly intimate moment. Still, it didn’t take away from how much she enjoyed the characters and their story.
Highly recommended if you love forced proximity, outdoorsy vibes, and romance that’s both tender and hot. BookSloth will definitely be reading more from Sarah Towns!
