I didn't really know what to expect when picking up this book. What I found was entertaining, engaging, and inspiring. At first, I thought, perhaps this is going to be a book of heroic inspiring stories from a military hero. And it was, but not in the way I expected. The stories were edge-of-your-seat page-turners, with the perfect dose of light humor. But each one was marked by humility and vulnerability. Dan's heroism and strength shine through in the way he shared with us his own mistakes and failures. There is power in weakness. Strength in vulnerability. His stories were raw and real. I have a feeling there are many more stories that he could have shared that highlighted his strength and courage. But the ones he chose to share were humbles and highlighted his vulnerability. To be this vulnerable takes immense strength and courage.
And he doesn't leave us hanging with just a book of good stories. This book concludes with real tangible and practical advice. He outlines for us the reader, clear actionable steps. I felt both seen and inspired. With this book, I feel equipped and ready. Or at least given a step of tools for which I can be, it is now my turn to take action with what has been given to me.
Thank you Dan for giving us this gift.
