An innocent beauty looking for answers turns to a detective looking for vengeance

One day. One town. Three missing women. Things like this didn't happen in Culpepper. Except that they had—once before. Eleven years ago, young Braydon Thatcher was unable to stop a tragic murder, one that hit painfully close to home. Now a detective, Braydon can't help but notice the eerie similarities between the two crimes. But he has to focus on the present and keep distractions to a minimum.

Distractions like Sophia Hardwick, who crashes into town like a Florida thunderstorm, demanding to know where her missing sister is. The attraction between them is nearly his undoing. But he has to protect her, because it's clear someone is resurrecting ghosts in order to punish Braydon. And if he lets his emotions for Sophia get the best of him, she could become yet another victim…

Didn't enjoy this book. Too slow. No suspense. Little romance. Whining heroine.

Good story. It starts with a rush as three women are reported missing in one day. One of those women is Sophia's sister. She arrives in town determined to find out what happened to her, and immediately confronts Braydon, who is the lead detective on the case. There's an immediate attraction between the two of them, but it's a distraction that could end up being deadly.

I liked Braydon a lot. He's one of those men who was a hell-raiser when he was young, but turned himself around after a tragedy struck. When he was seventeen, his sister was murdered and he blamed himself for not protecting her. Now he takes protecting the people of his hometown very seriously. When Sophia arrives he's sympathetic to her fears and her need to do something, but his attraction to her is a distraction he can't give in to. As the investigation continues Braydon discovers that Sophia is in danger and his attraction turns protective.

I had a little trouble warming up to Sophia at the beginning because she was so obnoxious when she first arrived in Culpepper. I understood that she was scared and worried, but once she made contact with Braydon and found out what was happening she could have backed off a little. Part of that attitude came from the guilt she was feeling because of the argument she and Lisa had had. She became more likable once she settled down a bit. One of the things I really liked about her was that she was smart and brave and was able to keep a good head on her shoulders. She also turned out to be a lot nicer of a person that I thought at the beginning. I really liked her understanding of Braydon's issues once she learned of the past tragedy.

I liked the relationship that developed between them. Once they got past their initial antipathy toward each other, they discovered they worked well together. Both were strong minded and tended to butt heads on occasion, but they were also reasonable and could see the other's viewpoint when necessary. I also enjoyed seeing the way that they were able to open up to each other emotionally. Braydon was able to tell her about what happened to his sister and the guilt that he still feels about it. Sophia was able to talk about her sister and her fears about her safety. I loved seeing the way that the small town grew on Sophia and the decision she made about her future at the end.

The suspense of the story was very good. We actually find out who the bad guy is early on and some of the story is told from his point of view. It's his goal to make Braydon suffer and the way he goes about it is very creepy. The buildup of intensity as the final confrontation approaches kept me glued to the story until I finished it. There was an interesting twist to the end that increased the danger to Sophia, but her own strength of will helped get her through it.

I also enjoyed the secondary characters who helped fill out the story. All of them felt like real people, not just props to help hold up the main characters. I ended up really liking Richard, who had rubbed me the wrong way at the beginning.

This debut novel by Tyler Anne Snell was everything I had hoped it would be. I love a good detective story, and this one is smart and sassy with all of the intriguing elements of a murder mystery wrapped up with a sexy romance.

What I loved the most about this book was the deft characterization. Sure, our hero Braydon Thatcher is sexy as hell, but he’s also all sorts of tender wrapped up in a hard shell. He’s more than just a badass detective- he’s smart and sympathetic and oh-so-easy to root for. This brings us to our leading lady.

As Braydon fights his inner demons and faces a past that has come back to haunt him, he develops a close relationship with Sophia Hardwick, who is no softie herself. I love a smart heroine, and in Manhunt, Sophia has more than one opportunity to prove that she’s more than just a pretty face. She’s brave as all get out and makes an equal match for Braydon’s affections. How can you not fall in love with two strong-willed and dynamic characters that have more going for them than good looks and charm? Both Braydon and Sophia have internal motivations and external conflict that propel the story forward. Their chemistry leaps off the page and you absolutely feel the desire for them to be together.

As for the plot- this book moves a wonderful, fast pace and never lets up. From the very beginning we are presented with conflict and a mystery so well plotted. Each chapter leaves you wanting to turn the page and find out the next clue. Besides two compelling lead characters, we are introduced to a small town setting and a cast of secondary characters essential to solving the mystery of three missing women. (I personally loved Cara- one of my favorite characters in the novel).

This book has it all- a compelling mystery, a sexy lead detective, a smart leading lady, a truly haunting villain, and plenty of edge-of-your-seat action. It’s smart romance and a deftly plotted mystery all wrapped up in one neat package. You’ll love these characters and won’t be able to stop reading until every last stone is turned and the mystery is solved.

I really enjoyed this story! Braydon and Sophia have this awesome partnership from the very beginning with growing sexual tension. I loved both of them and wanted to see them together! I liked how the writer let us know who the killer is early on. It was fun to see the story unfold and get glimpses of the killer's perspective. I found myself biting my nails at a few points, smirking at the dynamic between Sophia and Braydon, and laughing out loud at some of the things Sophia says. I also fell in love with Vega. Although he isn't a main character, he has a strong presence in the story and I fell in love with him when he explained to Braydon why he wouldn't sacrifice Sophia. All in all, I think this is a great debut and I hope to see more from this author!

I really had a hard time reading this book. I didn't like the female lead character-Sophia. That character was whining/complaining throughout the book. So seemed to be getting in the way. I don't understand why the 'police' would let her do that. I know books are for entertainment and many are not realistic, but this was even bad for a 'B' level movie. There was very little suspense in this book. I didn't even like the little romance going on.

2.5 stars rounded down. This purports to be a romantic suspense novel but I have to wonder how it can be considered so when there are so few romantic elements in it? The hero and heroine don't seem to have a deep attraction to each other and they severely lack chemistry. They seemed more destined to be "buds" than lovers. The suspense element was written decently enough, I suppose, but even it too lacked something in oomph and excitement. I found myself hurrying to finish the novel not because I just had to know how it ended, but rather because, I just wanted it to be over with so I could move onto something more compelling. I am not sure I would read something by this author again.

Tyler Anne Snell's debut novel is well worth your time to read. The romantic suspense story starts out with a defiant Sophia Hardwick determined to find her missing sister. The handsome detective on the case is Braydon Thatcher. Emotions flare as it becomes evident that his current case is connected to Braydon's past. Snell develops Braydon and Sophia's relationship without neglecting the supporting characters. Sophia's relationship with her sister, Lisa, is ever-present, and you never really see/hear about a character just once. All characters have a purpose that enriches the story. While the villain is revealed halfway through the book, Snell's suspenseful writing keeps you hooked until the end. The tender moments and violent twists make for an intriguing read.

"A well-plotted page-turner with great lead characters, Snell’s debut proves to be a worthy addition to the Intrigue line. Though the villain is revealed early on, there’s plenty of suspense and mystery to keep readers on their toes and actively engaged" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).

This book was good, although I could have used a little smarter of a heroine and a longer cat and mouse chase between villain and heroine but overall a good short thriller.

An easy read. Not much romance. Fade to black love scene. The murder mystery part wasn’t bad! I’d read this author again.

This is Tyler Anne Snell’s first Harlequin Intrigue and while it’s not as action-centered as the other books I’ve read in this imprint, it was a quick, satisfying read.
In a single day, three women have been reported missing and it’s Detective Brayden Thatcher’s job to investigate. Only he’s not ready for the whirlwind of the investigation that’s connected to the death of his sister eleven years ago or the beautiful Sophia Hardwick. I truly adored this character. He wasn’t as alpha as I usually like, but he fit the tone of the book and even had some secrets of his own.
With her only sister missing, Sophia refuses to wait by the phone for news. She’s taking the investigation into her own hands, even if Detective Thatcher doesn’t agree. But it soon becomes apparent there’s something between them and before Thatcher has a chance to bring any of the missing women home, Sophia herself has been targeted by the kidnapper.
The book starts off pretty slow. I wasn’t able to connect with the characters as much as I’d hoped, but once I made it about half way through, the action and the romance pick up quickly. I love the small town setting, the brotherhood of the Culpepper PD, and the intrigue, but wished there’d been a bit more to the romance aspect.

Revenge turns deadly.
Find my sister. It’s the only request Sophia Hardwick makes to the Culpepper, FL police. She refused to be ignored and inserts herself into the search even before she learns her sister is only one of three young women reported missing.
Detective Braydon Thatcher suffers flashbacks as he leads the search for the women. Too many clues are reminders of his sister’s murder eleven years ago.
This classic romantic suspense kept me turning the pages with end of chapter twists and hooks. The romance grew along with the tension of the hunt for the abductor turned murderer. I’ll be looking forward to more books by Ms. Snell.
