It's been ten years since the attack that drove Maggie Delacorte to become an FBI SWAT agent. She's an elite fighter now—and when the Fishhook Rapist sends her a letter saying he's coming back for her, she knows she has to find him first. Her teammate Grant Larkin is assigned to the case, and he's determined to protect Maggie, even if it damages the connection that's been growing between them. And even if her attacker has decided that the way to get to Maggie is by targeting the people she cares about. Her feelings for Grant could get him killed, but she needs him —and his love—to make it through the worst danger yet…

I loved the intrigue and suspense of this series! I also enjoyed the chemistry between Grant and Maggie. Overall, great wrap up to an interesting series.
Terrific conclusion to the series. In the ten years since she was attacked Maggie has become an excellent FBI SWAT team member. She has never given up the hope of finding her attacker, who has struck again once a year ever since, always in a different city. For the last six months she's been receiving letters from him, saying that he's coming back for her. She is determined not to be a victim again.
Grant has been one of Maggie's teammates for nine months. He had developed an excellent friendship and working relationship with her, but he was also hiding his attraction to her. He knows that nothing can happen as long as they're on the same team. He knows about the Fishhook Rapist and Maggie's connection to him, but it hasn't affected the way he feels about her. When the task force working on her case asks for his help because of his work on a similar case, he's glad to help. He's determined to find this guy and keep her safe.
I loved seeing Maggie and Grant together. She has felt the same attraction to Grant, but like him, can't act on it. When he's assigned to help with her case, they are drawn together even more. I loved the way that he gave in so quickly to sharing information with Maggie and her group, even though he had been specifically warned against it. Maggie is very intense and driven and willing to do anything to finally get this guy. Grant is also intense when it comes to his work, but much more easy going outside of it. I liked seeing the way they balance each other. Their attraction is getting stronger, but both do an admirable job of keeping it under control, as neither wants to wreck the other's career. I loved seeing the relationship develop as Maggie got to the point where she allowed herself to lean on Grant for support instead of feeling she had to keep it all to herself. I also loved how Grant was protective while still trusting that Maggie can take care of herself.
I loved the suspense that had been building since the beginning of the series. In this one, it's finally time to face down the monster. I loved seeing how it was Maggie and Grant working together who were able to figure out who was behind the attacks. The tension really built as the date got closer and they tried to find him first. The way that the bad guy arranged the confrontation was pretty scary, but not a total surprise. I had a feeling she was going to be involved from the time she was mentioned. The confrontation itself was really intense and I wondered how it was going to be resolved. I liked the realism of what happened to Grant, scary as it was. I loved the epilogue and seeing how the case turned out as well as seeing the three couples together.
I love romantic suspense but haven't read a lot of Harlequin Intrigues. I won this one in a giveaway. I'm glad I did as it was really good. Grant and Maggie work together on the FBI' s SWAT team. While Maggie thought she detected a spark of interest in his eyes on several occasions, he's never crossed any lines and made that interest known. Ten years earlier, while in college, Maggie was drugged, kidnapped, and raped, then let go, but the monster who did it left a brand on the back of her neck in the shape of a fish hook. Every year, on September 1st, he does the same to another woman but it's always in a different state and location, which makes it hard to track him down. When the story opens, it's the first of August. Maggie knows the anniversary of her ordeal is growing close and to add to her anxiety she's getting letters from her rapist promising he's coming for her. When Grant is assigned to her case, he vows to protect her at all costs. As the date grows closer so do Maggie and Grant. Excellent suspense with a touch of romance on the side. The author did a very good job with the villain, the clues, and tying up all the loose ends. I like the fact Maggie was tough, good at her job and capable of defending herself but human enough to be afraid of the past revisiting her. Grant was an alpha male, naturally protective but still able to work the case and do his job with the same precision that got him a spot on the team in the first place. This was a top-notch book and a very entertaining read.
Maggie was rapped 10 years ago. The guy banded her. She has a image of a fishhook on the back of her neck. The guy is a serial rapist. He takes a new victim every year on September 1st
After her rap, she went through training, and became a excellent FBI SWAT team member. She did not let the attack, or rap define who she is. She allowed it to strengthen her. Maggie has always hoped she would catch this creep, and stop him from hurting others. Maggie is close with her brother, and best friend. Her swat team is also like a big family. She has not told anyone that she has been receiving letters for the past six months. In the past 10 years, she would get letters, but the letter she just got stands out. The creep is coming back for her, to finish what he started. I loved the way everyone pulled together to show love, and protect her. I love the chemistry between Grant, and Maggie. It is taboo to date or have a relationship with another member of the swat team. The two honestly attempted to act professional. With everything going on the chemistry was burning too hot to ignore.
great book. Loved the action, suspense, and romance.
Elizabeth Heiter is a great writer that has one all some series in The Lawmen. Last night I just finished Swat Secret Admirer #3 in The Lawmen Series. Let's just say I couldn't put it down. You have a Officer of the F.B.I.'s Swat Team who is trying to lead a normal life but can't get away with the night mare that still haunts her. It take her family and friends to solve this case to get her life back.
I enjoyed this intriguing romance. I bought this at Goodwill store and I voluntarily chose to review this story. I've given it a 4.5* rating but it's not for the under 18 readers. This pulled me into the story right away and had a lot of feels. This is also a real page turner. Warnings, this is about rapes and assaults'. Lots to learn from this story and it does have a good ending.
Really liked this one. The series was a good selection to read. Had many of the same characters featured from FBI. If you like mystery/suspense pick up Elizabeth Heiter - more of a comfort read if you dislike too much of the extra.
My Review: I'll admit...I tend not to read Harlequin's category lines, but every time I do, I wonder why these books don't get more attention because some of them are really fabulous. This is one of those books.
This book focuses on a hero and heroine who work on a SWAT team together and have for the last nine months. Although they have some great chemistry, they've never done anything about it because it's forbidden to work on the same team and have a relationship...and spots on the teams are hard to come by.
I adored this heroine. Maggie was in college and on her way to becoming a lawyer when she was attacked, branded, and raped by a serial rapist called the Fishhook Rapist. He takes one girl each year on September 1st, rapes her, and brands her...and has gotten away with it for 9 years running. Maggie was the first and with this being the 10th year, the rapist has begun to taunt her. For his 10th anniversary, he's coming back for her.
Maggie joined the FBI to keep others from being victimized like she was. She is one seriously tough chick. That attack made her stronger. Instead of becoming a victim, she became a savior. The story is awesome just for showing how a person can use a devastating event to strengthen them to become more.
Grant sees that about her, too. When he's not working SWAT for the FBI, he works serial cases like Maggie's, although he's never let on that he knows exactly what happened to her. He respects her too much as an agent to let what happened to her 10 years ago skew his view of her. But as the case heats up and the anniversary draws near, he can't stand back and not help. He won't let her be victimized again.
It was a good book. There is a ton of action and adventure. Throughout the book the agents are doing their jobs for the FBI, so not only is there the suspense of the rapist storyline, but there's also the suspense and adrenaline that just comes from their daily jobs.
I will admit, I guessed pretty early in the book how the rapist story line would play out and his actions, but that didn't detract from my entertainment value while reading the story. I really enjoyed this book. I love that Grant is an alpha set on protecting Maggie, but that never meant that he tried to take care of Maggie like she was a simpering heroine. He's very aware of her impressive skill set and never underestimated her abilities because of that. There is also a great cast of characters and friends that surround Maggie who entered the FBI with her because they were part of her decision 10 years before. I loved them all and highly recommend this book.
this book is really good through out the book i was surprised on what was happen there are things in that book that u really didn't think that was going to happen like at the end of the book u didn't want to finish it because u thought that he was not going to make it out of surgery that he as going to died so therefore u didn't want to finish the book but it turns out that Grant does not die that he makes it and him and Maggie live happy and don't have to worry about September first anymore
This is the third book in The Lawmen series. This series will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride. Let me give you a little background.
This series centers around 3 friends who grew up in a small farming town in Indiana. Scott is the older brother of Maggie who is best friends with Ella. Maggie and Ella are roommates at college and one night during their senior year Maggie fails to return to the dorm. This night will change the life of these three friends forever.
Maggie, Ella and Scott are make a pact to find out who is behind this terrible crime. All three went into the FBI, Ella as a negotiator, Scott as a trained sniper and Maggie became a FBI SWAT agent. Maggie has been with the Washington Field Office's SWAT team for four years and has gained the respect of her teammates. The one thing Maggie was not and that was vulnerable. She promised herself ten years ago that she would never be a victim again. She has honed her skills and was prepared for anything, or at least she thought.
Grant Larkin had been with the Washington Field Office for 9 months and had developed a friendship and attraction to Maggie, but the attraction couldn't be acted on with both working for the same department. Yeah, he had heard all the rumors about the Fishhook Rapist and Maggie's involvement, but that didn't factor into either their friendship or his attraction.
I loved this book. The author does an excellent job bringing closure to the series. I like Maggie a lot and have respect for the way she has not let this incident actually define her as a person. She is seeking justice and makes life plan changes which shows a lot of courage and strength. Grant is a guy anyone could love. He doesn't look at the past and judge someone, but rather looks at what he sees in their actions. He hides the pain he feels when he sees Maggie's past and vows to get justice for her. I love this author's stories because they really bring out a lot of emotions in the reader. She brings engaging story lines, wonderfully developed characters and lots of suspense. I would recommend it to anyone who loves suspense or romance. I received this book from the author for a honest review without bias as stated above. All opinions are my own.
SWAT SECRET ADMIRER: By Elizabeth Heiter: 3rd book in The Lawmen Series
Maggie Delacorte has become an FBI SWAT agent.. she has joined along with her bother and best friend..All three of them made a pack..Ella was the Profiler for the FBI, and Scott was a sniper for the HRT Team..
The only thing is Maggie has a deeper connection with the The Fishhook Rapist. He won't let her forget him, so he keeps making contact with Maggie, but the latest letter was different.
As the Anniversary draws near Maggie, Scott and Ella, even her partner Grant Larkin and the entire SWAT team will protect her..
But something was happening and Maggie has blamed herself.
The heart pounding non-stop action has begun. When he calls her..the rule she must follow, come by herself. He has something she wants. It's down to the wire she has to follow the instructions give to her, or someone she loves will get killed because of her...all her training kicks in, but it's personal now.
So will she make it on time? Buy the book to see..
The book is mind blowing and a lot of excitement. A highly must read book and series too..
I hesitated to shelve this under rom suspense *sigh*
I'm confused by a couple things. First off, I'm the odd girl out. I really wonder how this rom suspense has such a high rating. The both the romance and the suspense feel shoe horned into each other. Usually if something doesn't fit, it's one or the other.
Also
And
And finally,
This is my second Intrigue in a row that left me feeling like I didn't go on one of their typically strong suspense rides. I think I'll just pull out one of my old Jessica Andersen books and get a shot of old school smart Intrigue.
Maggie Delacorte's history with the Fishhook rapist is about to come to a head but she isn't in this alone. Grant Larkin, a member of her SWAT team who had transferred over 9 months ago, is determined to work the case and protect her at all costs, even as their attraction to each other grows steadily. Grant's easy-going, smiley nature had me from the start and I thought he was a good match for Maggie, who has fought her way (and still fights) out of the trauma she endured 10 years ago.
I definitely liked the action although Ms Heiter's apparent reluctance at following through with love scenes made the unresolved sexual tension as frustrating as coitus interruptus. It was good to see how the story played out and I only took issue with the passion that never really hit fever pitch between Maggie and Grant.
I loved this book!!! I received this book in a batch of read, score and review. This was the first book of 4 under the secular titles that I read and was so happy to have read this.
Maggie Delacorte was attacked 10 years ago that was so horrible that it pushed her to join the FBI and eventually the SWAT unit. Now on the 10th anniversary of that attack and many women later he is back for Maggie. She is determined that one way or another this man will be stopped.
Grant Larkin is a fellow agent and friend who brought in to help when Maggie is sent a letter by this monster. His mission is to keep her safe and bring this guy in. They need to work together along with the rest of her team to make this happen.
Love this series. Hate to see it come to an end. This is a story of Maggie Delacorte who after being attacked 10 years ago, finds that the attacker is coming back to celebrate the anniversary with her. Can she escape again? Can she bring this torment to an end, all while finding a relationship with a partner, Grant Larkin? This is suspense at it's best with a little romance thrown in to keep it interesting.
"Heiter’s latest is a compelling read, featuring a scarred but tough heroine who’s ready to fight back. With strong characters, spine-tingling drama and a sweet and realistic romance, SWAT Secret Admirer has the right combination to propel it to Top Pick status" (RT Book Reviews, 4 1/2 stars TOP PICK!)
FBI SWAT team member is coming up on the tenth anniversary of her assault and rape and the attacker is determined to get to her again. It is a race against time to find out his identity before he attacks again. This book can be read as a standalone story, but it is the third book in a series. I really enjoyed reading it.
This is a quick and entertaining read. I liked the characters and the story. The author did a fine job of building the suspense and the romance between the main characters. Maura Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance & More
This is the third book in The Lawmen series and it's Grant and Maggies story. A story that twists and turns, lots of romance, suspense and those sexy FBI guys!
I wrote a detailed review on my blog Books I Love A Latte - check it out.
I received a copy from the author for a fair and honest review
Another great read by Elizabeth Heiter. I'm sad this series is done, but totally looking forward to the next book in the Profiler series later this year... Thank you Elizabeth, for making reading so intense!
