Someone vanished without a trace decades ago. Now Sunnie Cameron is living in their house.
After a difficult divorce, Sunnie is ready to leave her past behind—even if it means moving into a run-down cottage in the quiet village of Hazelwood. The house is old, the roof leaks, and the townspeople seem more curious than welcoming. Still, there’s something about Hazelwood that feels like it could be home.
But when a bookshelf collapses during renovations, revealing a hidden room that hasn’t been touched in nearly a hundred years, Sunnie finds herself drawn into the cottage’s mysterious past. Tucked inside are forgotten journals, tender love letters, and hints of a long-buried story the town would rather leave alone.
With the help of her quirky neighbor Mrs. Dalloway and Oliver, the charming bookstore owner who knows more than he lets on, Sunnie begins to piece together a puzzle that could change everything she thought she knew about her new home—and herself.
What really happened all those years ago? Why was the room sealed off? And as old secrets come to light, will Sunnie finally find the sense of belonging she’s been searching for all along?

🏡 The Forgotten Cottage (Book 4 of the Mountain Secrets series by Sage Parker):
In this installment, the intrigue surrounding Joseph and Emma Hazlewood deepens as Sunnie continues to uncover clues. Her friendship with her curious and supportive neighbor, Mrs. Dalloway, strengthens—until a medical emergency strikes. When Mrs. Dalloway doesn’t respond to knocks on her door, Sunnie breaks into the house and discovers her unconscious from a heart attack. Quick-thinking, Sunnie calls for help, and Mrs. Dalloway is rushed to the hospital.
During surgery, Sunnie is joined by Oliver, who offers emotional support. Once Mrs. Dalloway is discharged, she recuperates at Sunnie’s home due to needed repairs at her own. As her friend naps, Sunnie tries to focus on finishing her book but is distracted by the mysterious letter they found in a hidden room—written by Nathaniel to Emma Hazlewood. Her research reveals a shocking twist: Nathaniel later married Ella Wheeler, leaving Sunnie surprised and eager to uncover what really happened in the tangled past of the Hazlewood family.
This book continues to blend mystery, emotional depth, and the comfort of small-town relationships, with Sunnie as a steadfast and compassionate heroine.

This is becoming more interesting & the mystery is very intriguing because I love mysteries & trying to figure them out. She has figured out so much with not much co-operation from anyone. She has been told by her realtor when she told her about all the stuff she found, to get rid of the stuff. Sunnie thought they might want it for the museum, but it’s obvious they are trying to cover up something & that just intrigues Sunnie more & makes her more determined! She found out that the book that Oliver had given her to read, more pages have been added because Mrs. Dalloway, her neighbor told her it ended one way & hers ended another way. So she compared the endings. Because she had taken a bookbinding class she discovered that several pages had been added. What does this mean? She & Mrs Dalloway decided to go through all the letters that Sunnie had found in the secret room because she had only scanned through some them, boy did Mrs. Dalloway find a big surprise! I can’t wait for the next book!
Received this book from the author & am happily giving a review in my own words without any encouragement from anyone. This is my kind of series! I love mysteries!
This series gets more intriguing with each book. Sunnie and Oliver have remained friends though they do have some up and downs that could have a negative affect on that . In spite of her initial feelings about Mrs Dalloway, Sunnie has found a true friend in her and is very upset when Mrs Dalloway has a heart attack requiring surgery. She calls Oliver and he immediately heads to the hospital an hour away to support the two ladies, deepening their friendship. Sunnie takes Mrs Dalloway home with her when she is released from the hospital. Their plans are to continue investigating the secret room in her cottage and see if they can uncover anymore clues to the secrets of the founding family of Hazelwood. Surprises are coming !! Can’t wait to see what the next book brings.

Sunnie is determined to finish her book, especially since Mrs. Da!loway is eager for TBE ending. Her relationship with Oliver is still hard with misunderstandings and not communicating ckearly. Sunnie did find out that Oliver added the letters to her book about Hazelwood and Joseph and Emma. Now Sunnis and Mrs Dalloway are going thru the boxes from the hidden room. Then Sunnie stops to see Mrs Dalloway but get her to cone to the door. So she breaks in and finds her collapsed on the floor. It turns out that she had a heart attack but doctors were able to do surgery. When released Sunnie takes Mrs. Dalloway home with her. Unable to settle , Sunnie looks into Nathaniel Wheeler and is surprised at what she finds
-Bookbinding, hidden truths and a hospital trip make for a thoughtful, layered read. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts. Sunnie uncovers more of Mrs. Dalloway’s past and her first name. The friendship between the women gets closer. Clever insights and personal growth keep the pages turning with quiet intensity. A beautifully written chapter in the series—rich in detail and ending on a cliffhanger.
The funniest takeaway from this book is the image of Mrs.Dalloway with a deerstalker cap and a magnifying glass ready to search for clues.
Sunnie is learning more about the Hazels. She discovered some new pages at the back of the book about them she had been reading. It looked like Emma's family was worried about her and she didn't respond to them. She also found a letter written to Emma from her first love, Nathaniel. He was thought to be dead from the war, but it turned out he had survived. Meanwhile, Mrs. Dalloway had a heart attack and Sunnie was the one who found her. After that scare, Sunnie did some research on Nathaniel and found a picture of he and his wife. She knows her! I can't wait to see what happens next. I received an advanced reader copy of this book from Booksprout, and this is my honest review.
OOOO!! Sage has thrown several nuggets of plot twists in this part of the story. Series MUST be read in order. Her neighbor was able to access the part of her novel she sent. Has she been able to finish it? The investigation into the founding couple has produced some surprises and caught the interest of some people. Between the requested welfare check present day, and the drama being uncovered from the investigation into the past, I have a feeling that the town will never be the same.

This is becoming more interesting with every page I read. Sunnie is starting to understand more about Emma and her life but also that she had a mystery man before getting married. Why did she really disappear and who is Emma Wheeler? I am so anxious for the next book and I am sure Ms Parker will have more curveballs added in the mix as only she can do. I am loving this mystery and I love the relationship building between Sunnie, Oliver and Mrs Daloway.

Joseph and Emma Hazlewood and what happened to them is what is keeping Sunnie’s mind confused and yet she is determined to get the answers. The mystery in this book is getting deeper and deeper with each new book in the series. I am so amazed at Sage Parker can keep her audience guessing in each of the books in this series. This one has taken me on a roller coaster of a ride to try to piece together what is happening and why!.

Sunnie is finding out all sorts of information about Nathanial and his love but something is just not adding up. In the meantime, when she looks into who closed off the room, who was married to whom and why did the woman die and was buried at the big house she just comes up with more questions than answers. Also, who can she trust in town, who knows more than they are telling her and why is everyone so closed up about the past.

Who is Ella Wheeler and where has Sunnie seen her before! What really happened to Emma and will Sunny, Oliver, and Mrs. Dalloway keep what they find out to themselves? This mystery is one of Sage's best and I love all of her books. This one has so much going foe itself that the story captures the readers attention. The characters are also what make this story enjoyable to read!.

Another fantastic "chapter" in a great series by Sage Parker. I love the suspense and intrigue as Sunnie gets hooked on learning more about the town's leading settler and the disappearance of his wife. The ending is a show stopper and I can't wait to read the next book in this series!
I read this book as part of an advance reader team. I am voluntarily writing this review.
Sunnie has a lot going on in her life. Mrs. Dalloway, her elderly neighbor had a heart attack and is recuperating at Sunnie's house. Oliver and Sunnie are growing closer. As for Joseph and Emma Hazel and their mystery, Sunnie may have answered what happened to Emma. I highly recommend this book to all women's fiction readers.

There's a copy of the book about the town that she gets but it seems to have added material. Mrs. Dalloway is an elderly neighbor who is a really nice person and they spend a lot of time together.
The question arises about whether or not there was a nuder that took place in the past related to the material in the book. Something happens with Mrs. Dalloway, though.
I didn't think that I could ever have been surprised. The reason they have been in this predicament was the heart attack of their close friend. Trying once more to write an ending to her book she looks into a genealogy site to find a surprising story.

Mrs Dalloway had said the book ended with Emma Hazel death. But, Sunnie's copy has letters at the end??? She and Mrs. D compare copies and the 2 sleuths start their own investigation in Sunnies hidden room. It's a wild one.

Get ready to start reading your next favorite romance book in a what I say is an excellent series. The characters seem realistic at times and has you thinking about their story. At times I thought I could actually picture Sunnie and the things she felt with in the very beginning of the book with her husband. Sage has wrote another page turning book that is nothing less than 5/5 stars.
Sunnie is piecing the pieces together slowly. She has help from Mrs. Dalloway until she has a medical emergency. She does research on Nathaniel and is surprised who he married. This leads to even more questions.

The plot really thickens in book 4. Why does Sunnie think she has seen Ella Wheeler before?! What really happened to Emma and will Sunny, Oliver, and Mrs. Dalloway find out the rest of the story? Will Sunnie resolve her writer's block? This is a great story, but you need to read the books in order.
The story makes you want more, im not sure im fond of these 80 page books though... lol would have rather it been in one full book, now I sit and wait until I can read the next book! Each book leaves you hanging!!!
The perfect cozy mystery for an afternoon escape. The characters are wonderful and the story really engaging. I love Sunnie and Oliver's friendship. I love this series and can't recommend it enough. It's well written and very entertaining.
