This must rank as one of the most detailed, and lavishly produced culinary books that I have ever encountered. The only true word that can be used to describe this book is: exquisite.

The book provides detailed coverage of the rise of the Roux dynasty; the formative years of Gavroche and the non-existent culinary scene within Britain, a frank account of Michel Roux Juniors' apprenticeship in the the finest French kitchens, and a day in the life of Gavroche. The book is interspersed with the finest recipes, broken down into easy - to - follow processes which inspire confidence and a general sense of adventure.

This book should be considered essential reading for the aspirant cook, and Gastronome, in equal measure given the authority that the Author possesses.

Don’t read when hungry! This book is sumptuous, with the recipes more illustrations of the stories he tells than the main event. It gives a real insight into the passion and drive he has from an early age to achieve his culinary dreams.

This is a wonderful volume to delve into. The recipes, anecdotes, insights and weaving of history around flavour and personal events is extremely enjoyable. My favourite book on food.
