The Dunlap siblings must solve the mystery of a sick pony on Chincoteague Island in this second book of a chapter book series inspired by Marguerite Henry’s Misty of Chincoteague .
There’s a sick horse at Misty Inn! Something Buttercup is eating—or being fed—is making her ill. Can Willa and Ben solve this pony problem and help Buttercup feel healthy again?
i love this book i love how at the end they get to keep Amos the puppy he is so cute. and i love that they get to take care of buttercup who is a great horse. i think everyone who loves dogs cats and horses should read this book it is great.
This is a rather slight book that may please extreme horse fans. It's a light mystery and a light friendship story where the stakes are never very high. Maybe good for beginning chapter book readers who aren't ready yet for Misty of Chincoteague.
Caveat: I have not yet read Misty of Chincoteague and I am missing that horse-lover gene that so many girls have, so if I had been obsessed with horse books as a child, I might have enjoyed this more?
Every child who loves horses should read this book! The friendship and camaraderie painted in the sweet island of Chincoteague will inspire all readers!
