Ajme Williams - mother, wife, daughter, dreamer, an avid reader and a writer. When she's not writing romance, Ajme can be seen sipping coffee, gorging on dark chocolate, exercising, or travelling with family and friends. Cooking is therapeutic for her and she drools over Italian food...and men. What to expect from her books? Ajme loves variety, so expect a lot of second chances, secret babies, office romances, big fat fake weddings, curvy heroines and alpha heroes. HEA? Always, baby! If you're a fan of emotional angsty contemporary romance, then you'll enjoy Ajme Williams.
A story with an actual plot, albeit a loose one. This is the first of a series (I hope) with a revenge plan subplot concerning a fire that happened 10 years ago. It’s clever of the author to give the MC and his brothers fire related names. The subplot will not be resolved in this book so there’s a soft cliffhanger leading into the next book.
Lucy is a journalist and wow, she never lets you forget it. She mentions it ad Infinitum (“I’m a journalist”). She’s pushy, nosy, ambitious, and lacks self control. She’s constantly putting herself in dangerous situations to get her story (because “The people have a right to know” 🙄). Which is how she meets Flint. He arrives just in time to prevent her from getting SA and killed by 3 guys in an alley. Which she willingly walked into to get her big story. Instead of saying thank you to Flint, she says, “ I had it handled”. Um, no you foolish ingrate, you did not have it handled this time or any time in this book. Despite her crass behavior, Flint thinks her rudeness is hot. 🙄
The rest of the book is Flint rescuing Lucy every time she deliberately puts herself in places where she can get killed. But Lucy is self righteous and ungrateful and tells Flint, “I had it handled” every time, when clearly she did not. Flint (and his brothers) have a revenge plan in place and Lucy puts herself in the middle of it. Flint is protective and realizes early that he’s in love. He tries his best to keep Lucy safe but her ambition to get The Story that will make her career as a serious journalist blinds her. Flint is juggling his loyalty to his brothers, keeping his own secrets and all the distractions that Lucy throws his way. That’s pretty much their chemistry from the start.
I liked Lucy early on …. until I didn’t. I like a strong FMC but Lucy is so crass and irritating I don’t want her as even a book friend. There’s only so many times I can read “I’m a journalist” and “I had it handled”, before I start rolling my eyes and skipping pages. And I absolutely hated the mantra Lucy likes to pull out, “The people have a right to know,” which is her go-to excuse for being pushy and annoying, even with Flint. No wonder most of us don’t like journalists.
The main plot is a little loose on details but I’m hoping it tightens up in the next book(s). No 3rd act breakup, some family drama because Flint is the youngest of four brothers and they’re all up in each others’ business, no OW/OM, no cheating. There’s an epilogue leading into the next book introducing the next FMC. Who is thankfully NOT A JOURNALIST.
I finished the book because I wanted to know how it ended. It was actually hard to get through. Lucy literally was annoying because she was told the same thing OVER AND OVER and still just brain dumb. If she was a real reporter who was able to gather all the info shedid... She wouldn't have been so stupid about other things. Flint irked me because of the way he just suddenly cared about her. He was all in.. In minutes. I feel bad because the storyline could have been so good it just needed better writing.
I absolutely loved this book! Flint and Lucy were both fantastic characters. The glimpses we got of Flint’s brothers were also really intriguing; each had just enough personality shine through that I’m already ready for their individual books.
The only thing that pulled me out of the story a bit was how long it took Lucy to figure out/find out who Flint really was. She’s portrayed as smart and observant, and with how she had mentioned the brothers’ eyes and hair color—and even heard his real name at one point—it felt a little unrealistic that she didn’t piece it together sooner.
Still, that small frustration didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the book overall. This was a fun, great read, and I can’t wait to for the rest of the series.

I wish I would have counted how many times the word dangerous was used in this book. I feel like this book would have been half the size of the main characters didn’t have the same conversation 20 times. “It’s dangerous, you can’t.” “I have a story to write so I will.” And then rephrase that ten times over. Also was insta-love which made their feelings seem questionable. She was so mad at him until he got hurt and then her concerns were never revisited.

However, whilst Flint is aware of what Lucy is doing wand what she is trying to achieve, he is hiding a very big secret from her, which she is revealed at an inopportune time and causes friction between them. Nevertheless, Flint still takes it upon himself to ensure Lucy’s safety, which puts a target on his back and leads into a dangerous situation of his own. Unfortunately, Lucy finds out about Flint’s problem just after discovering the news that her life is about to change, which pushes her to into another dangerous situation.

I just finished Crown of Smoke by Ajme Williams—wow! This is great book!!! So many thoughts!
At first, I wanted to scream at Lucy. She’s so stubborn! I kept thinking, She’s going to get herself killed—why won’t she just listen to him? He clearly knows better. But in the end, it’s that same recklessness that brought them together, and I loved that. Oh—and it was hot, hot, hot!
What really struck me is how eager I was to dive into the Ifrinn brothers’ stories before even finishing this one. That says a lot. It’s such an adventurous, gripping read with a deep backstory—revenge.
Flint (or Flynn) is the perfect example of a man who would do anything for the woman he loves. The story follows four brothers on a mission to avenge their parents’ murder by a traitorous family. Things get complicated when a bold journalist risks everything to expose the truth—even if it means interfering with their plan.
Though her intentions are noble, she ends up putting herself in danger. Still, her courage is admirable.
The author drops enough hints to get me hyped for the other brothers’ stories. I’m betting Phoenix gets a second-chance romance, and I seriously can’t wait for Blaise’s book—and eventually Ash’s!
This book gave me everything I love in a dark romance—intensity, heat, depth, and just enough danger. Highly recommend! 5 stars.

Rating: 3.5 stars overall | 5 stars for Flint and 3 stars for Lucy.
“Crown of Smoke” by Ajme Williams is a fast-paced, dark mafia romance that begins with danger. Journalist Lucy finds herself in over her head—until she’s rescued by a mysterious and deadly stranger with ties to a criminal underworld.
Flint Ifrinn (aka Flynn Tine) is the undeniable star of this book. He falls hard and fast, and his fierce protectiveness, brooding intensity, and emotional depth make him impossible not to root for. Every scene with Flint sizzles with chemistry and tension—definitely the highlight of the story.
Lucy, on the other hand, tested my patience. While her independence is admirable, her constant refusal to listen to Flint and her tendency to leap into danger made her a frustrating character at times.
The plot is gripping and dramatic; however, it wrapped up a little too quickly for my taste. Several key threads were left unresolved, which left the ending feeling a bit rushed. Still, the setup for the continuation of the series is intriguing.
Bottom line: If the Ifrinn brothers are involved, I’m in. Looking forward to the next chapter in the Kingdom of Sinners series.

This is the first book in the new series Kingdom of Sinners that will follow the Ifrinn brothers Flint, Phoenix, Ash and Blaise. Crown of Smoke follows Flint and Lucy Ketchum's story.
Lucy is a journalist chasing a dangerous story about the demise of one mafia family the Ifrinn's and the suspicious fast rise of the Kean family. She is determined, tenacious, stubborn and isn't someone who backs down even when she's warned over and over. When one too many questions leave her in dire straights Flint Ifrinn a.k.a. Flynn Tine comes to her rescue. Him and his brothers are out for revenge after they survived a house fire that killed their parents and numerous others. It's been 10 long years of planning and strategizing when everything is put in jeopardy when he steps in and saves the infuriating and intoxicating journalist Lucy.
Their storyline is captivating, suspenseful, dark, dangerous with betrayals, secrets, drama, revenge and spice. The epilogue surprised me with up coming book that will follow Blaise and a person that I never would of guessed.

Crown of Smoke is quite suspenseful and a page turning dark mafia romance. The story is beautifully written, well balanced and perfectly executed by Ajme Williams. She continues to showcase what a fantastic author she is with each book I’ve read by her thus far. I’ve enjoyed reading each book, including this one, by Ajme Williams. Crowne of Smoke is the story of Flint and Lucy. The characters are well developed and beautifully executed throughout the story. I enjoyed getting to know both Flint and Lucy as well as seeing the feelings they have for one another grow stronger as their story comes to life through the pages of this book. The chemistry between these two characters is absolutely incredible and undeniably irresistible. I do love that they have a happy ending to their story with them being happy together as a couple. I would absolutely give this book as a recommendation for anyone who is looking for a new mafia romance to read. I’m looking forward to reading more fantastic romances from this author in the future.

When I think of this author, I think dark almost irredeemable characters and dark stories. Well, this time the characters weren't irredeemable nor as dark. This is a story of family, revenge, love, and redemption. Flint is one of four brothers bent on finding out who betrayed their family and getting revenge. He is pretending to be Flynn, a street fighter in order to play his role at the front. Lucy is a reporter who decides to investigate the Ifrinn family fire & the rise of the Kean family. That puts her on a collision course with Flint. The story is well thought out and the characters are multi-dimensional. The secondary characters pique the interest for their books. The reader is pulled into the world of the Ifrinns and Keans and they mystery while watching a family rebuild and grow. For those who don't want the deep dark or some of the authors other series, this is for you while staying true to the genre. Crown of Smoke: A Dark, Twisted, and Thrilling Ride That Will Leave You Breathless
Okay, Crown of Smoke is not your average mafia romance. This book? It grabbed me by the throat, twisted me around, and threw me into a whirlwind of suspense, passion, and mystery that I didn’t see coming. The synopsis had me intrigued from the jump, but nothing could prepare me for just how wild this ride would be.
First of all, let’s talk about Flynn—or should I say Flint? Because this man? He’s so much more than a brooding, dangerous stranger. He’s a ghost. Literally. The second I realized who he truly was, my mind was blown. Flint is a man who’s both terrifying and magnetic, and the chemistry between him and the heroine is off the charts. But it’s not just about the steamy moments (although there are plenty of those)–it’s the darker, deeper connection that pulls you in and won’t let go.
The heroine, though. She’s out here chasing a mafia story, and instead, she gets caught up in a dangerous, forbidden affair with a man who doesn’t even exist in the normal sense. And when she finds out she’s pregnant with his baby? Damn. Talk about stakes being raised.
The whole plot is a thrilling mess of danger, deception, and revenge. Ronan Kean is no joke, and I loved how he turned the tension even higher. It’s a battle of power, bloodlines, and fate that’s set in the shadows of Boston, and it’s intense. Flint’s quest to reclaim his empire, the heroine’s struggle to navigate this new reality she’s trapped in—every twist kept me flipping the pages, holding my breath for the next reveal.
This book is like a dark cocktail of action, passion, and suspense, with a hero whose past won’t let him rest and a heroine who’s torn between survival and the man who stole her heart, body, and soul. If you like dark mafia stories with a supernatural twist, this book is for you. It's messy, it’s brutal, and it’s absolutely addictive.
The ending? Oh, it hit hard. But I need the next book because this duo is far from finished. Flint and the heroine have a dangerous, fiery future ahead of them, and I can’t wait to see where this twisted, bloody journey takes us. Highly recommend this one if you’re ready for a story that grabs you by the heart and doesn’t let go.
Lucy must have nine lives because every time she turn around she was getting her self in very hot water with her noseiness when she was trying to write a story on a lost family who died tragedy in a fire but four sons are alive but no one knows where until Lucy is first saved by Flynn/Flinn Tinne who is one of the missing sons.Flynn and his brothers work ten long years to uncover what, who was behind the murder of their parents, one of the boys girlfriends, and house staff.Flynn tries his hardest for Lucy not to fine anything on what's he trying to hide but her nose gets her in trouble and he is there to save her again but when she fines out that she has been used and lied too it breaks them apart but because of her noseiness he has to put her in a safe house or she may be dead. This story does have a good ending maybe not the one the boys were hoping for but much closer to the truth,Lucy and Flinn are much closer and a bundle of joy too! Can't wait for the next story to take place!
This was a very original story for me. I loved it. It was filled with suspense and secrets. It takes you on a journey of emotions and intrigue.
Lucy is a journalist chasing a story of a family of brothers who has parents that were killed. She is investigating the story when she meets Flint in a bar. She asks too many questions and gets into trouble when he comes and saves her life. Flint doesn't want to get involved with Lucy but he is drawn to her. They have such great chemistry. He doesn't want her to get any more involved in the investigation but she doesn't back down. He proposes they work together. Little does she know he is keeping a big secret from her. He is hiding his identity. What happens when Lucy finds out the truth? This story is not one you want to miss.

A new series from Ajme, Irish mafia in Boston. Four Ifrinn brothers survived a fire 10 years earlier that was deliberately set and killed their parents and servants. They are thought to have perished but they have spent that time waiting and planning revenge on the Kean family who they know are responsible. Lucy, a journalist, has been doing a story about the Kean family and knows there a story to be told regarding the Ifrinn fire and puts herself in danger and is saved by Flynn (aka Flint Ifrinn) who is trying to find his way to infiltrate the Kean family. They have immediate attraction and he tries to tell her she needs to be careful. This is a good start to this four brother series. The next book should be just as good.
The book had an interesting plot and a cool hero. But I could barely tolerate the heroine, Lucy. She was “blessed” with an abundance of TSTL syndrome. And then she tried bluffing her way out of thanking her savior by claiming she had it under control (four armed mon thugs in a back alley about to SA and then kill her. Yeah, under control my Aunt Farrah.). She just couldn’t come back from that, as far as I’m concerned. When I can’t connect in some way with or have at least a modicum of respect for a main character, I can’t enjoy the book. Normally, I like books by this author a lot. But this one was a miss for me.

Well when deciding to read this book series, I was presented with book 3. I checked the books in order and started to read the first book, or so I thought. I read book 3, then 4, then when I get to the end of 4 it says read Crown of Smoke, to find out how it all started. Now I knew who the characters were and how the series finished. I was a little annoyed with myself for not checking properly. However, having read book one it doesn't really matter. The story is great and Flynn/Clint and Lucy are a match made in heaven. Love the way Lucy keeps doing what she likes only to get in trouble every time, then Flint has to rescue her. I'm definitely ready for the next one.
I was completely sold on this book, simply because of the cover and lucky for me, it ended up being great story. This is the first book in the Kingdom of Sinners series and if subsequent books will be like this one, it'll be a great series. With a lead like Flint, dangerous and (of course) sinfully attractive, who wouldn't make the same decision that Lucy had made. I'm not the biggest fan of accidental pregnancy trope, but because of the great writing and the incredible chemistry between the two MCs, I enjoyed it thoroughly. You won't be disappointed.

I really enjoyed Crown of Sinners by Ajme Williams! The storyline was solid and kept me hooked throughout. Flint was a standout for me—such a well-written, compelling character. I loved his depth and presence on the page.
The writing overall was strong and easy to get into. That said, Lucy... whew. She tested my patience more than once. I found myself yelling at the book a few times like, “Girl, are you stupid?!” I get flawed characters, but she made some choices that had me wanting to shake some sense into her.
Still, despite my frustrations, it was a really good read, and I’m glad I picked it up. Definitely going to read the next book!
A book that should’ve only taken me a day or two to finished lasted a couple of weeks. Let me start off by saying I love a good stubborn FMC who knows when to stand her ground, but also knows when to back off. I really liked Lucy, until I didn’t. She came off more as annoying than stubborn. Like as a journalist I feel like she really made some dumb decisions and she should’ve known better. So you would think she’d know when to back off, right? I really just wanted to slap her silly, like c’mon😭 As far as Flint went my heart broke for what him and his brothers went through. I think I’ll be continuing the series and see how it goes.
The book has a good storyline. The MMC was written well. All his emotions. But the FMC killed this book. That’s why the 2 stars I read other reviews here about her but I figure let me read it myself. And I can actually say I dislike her. She had not one good quality about her. She just was so selfish, mean, immature, and judgmental. How did he fall for her??! She kept putting herself in danger then would be like oh well. While the MMC was putting himself in danger. For such an ungrateful woman. Like wow. She almost got rap*d and wasn’t thankful he saved her from that. Idk. The MMC deserve someone better then this FMC.
Crown Of Smoke is Flint and Lucy's journey and it's quite a journey!
"I was just chasing a mafia story. One reckless lead, one dark alley, one heartbeat from death... Until his fists saved me."
Now tell me, if you open a book and this is the first thing you see, what do you expect? I expect an adventure of massive proportions and that's exactly what this author delivers! This story is one fantastic forbidden love story that pulls you in from page one and completely consumes you until the final page. These characters are absolutely explosive!
Crown of Smoke by Ajme Williams is the story of Flint and Lucy. She’s a reporter. He’s heir to the mafia empire. They have one wild night…and now they have repercussions from that tryst. Furthermore, she is now being kept by a deadly adversary.
She’s not the best at decision-making…a difficult trait to deal with for a journalist. Infuriating at times. Flint is otherworldly. He has so much power, charisma, and strength…it’s no wonder he is…who he is. What a great start to a new series!!!
A wonderfully well written part of Williams' Kingdom of Sinners series that is sure to captivate and please. Our main characters in this read are Flint and Lucy. I love that we're introduced to Flint's brothers whose individual personalities shine enough that I'm super excited for more in this series and to get each of their journeys. I found this to be a well written mafia romance that I couldn't get enough of, and I can't wait for more of!
