Loyalty beyond life itself... Desire that whispers to defy an oath... At risk is all they've ever shared and a future they hope to keep.
Having slipped from a demon lord’s clutches, Sara Forrester is plunged into the only role in life she was ever meant to fulfill—the quest to obtain three ancient keys hidden by a powerful governing order across the realms—the Soltari. Sara and her team must race to Scotland and find the sacred Druid priests before the evil seeking to end her quest traces her energy trail and puts an end to mankind. But when Sara arrives, a powerful force lures her to a break in time and space, diverting her intended path.
Staying alive to recover the keys and save humanity is not Sara’s only dilemma. She’s done what she vowed never to do, let herself love another human being. But Kevin is not just any other person and she intuitively knows it. Unlike Kevin, Sara has no memory of her connection to him. The distraction could cost them everything. If Kevin breaks his oath to the Soltari by sharing with Sara his memories spanning lifetimes together, their bond could be forever severed by the very entity that brought them together.
Dana Alexander is a summa cum laude graduate of Arizona State University whose career was spent in Medicare policy, education, and audit. Captivated by the fascinating and creative world of fantasy from a young age (and possibly seeking an escape from the monotony), she was compelled to write the story of two warriors connected across countless millennia, upheld by their duty to the Alliance. When she isn’t creating scenes, developing realms, and weaving fact with fiction, her time is spent with family keeping cool in the ridiculously hot desert with their two huge, swim-loving Labs, Ryley and Brodie.

This is the story of Sara Forrester and Kevin Scott who are connected. How, where, why and when form the core of their mission and their life is a long and arduous quest after truth and enlightenment. Sara couldn’t run fast enough to catch whatever she was chasing or escape from that which was close at her heels. She was no longer in another world, but instead with Kevin on the mission to obtain the first key of enlightenment, and with any luck rescue humanity. By the time they fled New York, Tarsamon’s shadows had accelerated their effort of clinging to the weaker humans consumed in fear and anger and then slipping into them to absorb their energy like famished vampires. Doune Castle in Scotland, “What scared you so much? Where were you?” Kevin asked, reading her thoughts. “I don’t know. She didn’t recognize the world she had travelled to before the calling to Scotland. The reader gets a sense that the fourteenth century walls of the Castle wanted to speak of all the goings on. Sara began to hear the voices of what sounded like soldiers, loud voices of men, some shouting commands, a rustling of several footsteps and a single distant scream from a woman. Scary. Tarsamon, the demon directed the evil that had recently been ordered to hunt Sara and as she grew closer to each of three keys that would put an end to the forces sucking the energy out of the humans to create an existence for the dark energy on Earth, the treat to her safety grew. Sara becoming extra sensitive, knew the true reality and reason for coming to earth: to rescue the people of the world from the threatening darkness. If she were to fail the quest, the Alliance that governed the mission would forever break the bond she had shared lifetimes over with Kevin. The additional threat they faced, was intended as a driving force toward success to prevent the Dark Lord snuff out the light on earth. MacCristal, guardian of this first key, would be able to lead them to the exact location. The symbols, kept safely in Ardan, were believed to hold information for three different locations, one for each key; Scotland, the Yucatan Peninsula and Egypt. Each symbol had lettering, hieroglyphs, or images that were like clues to individual puzzles and each had a guardian that they had to find first. The guardian knew of the way to the gateway, a portal to the realm where the key had been hidden thousands of years earlier by the Soltari, a powerful entity. The Alliance of Souls, to which Sara belonged, handed down the order of the Soltari. And it was her mission to set the balance between light and darkness right again and push Tarsamon’s evil from our world. This could only be accomplished by harnessing the power of all three keys of enlightenment. Culture , custom, and conscience create atmosphere and mood of mysticism and the supernatural. The author uses symbolism of light and darkness seeks the truth in eyes and words spoken. With Sara the reader feels the tension and worry from Kevin. He wasn’t blocking his emotions from being felt by Sara. It was a gift, or some might consider a curse, to feel the emotions of people around her. But it gave Sara insight into the truths they carried. And as a psychiatrist, that was most useful in her practice. The silver bracelet he’d given Sara as a gift would let Kevin know the moment she was in danger by sending its signal to him where he could find her. Since he had first met her, and that comforted him only slightly, is that she didn’t remember the parallel universe she had travelled for centuries with him or the memories of those lives and experiences that had been blocked for her to function in her life on earth. In preparation for leading Sara to the locations of the Guardians of the Keys, Kevin had learned Ceanag, or Mac, came from a very long line of Druid priests trained in the ancient practices, not only the active philosophy but also mythical beliefs of the mysterious wise ones said to be highly intellectual, educated people that believed the soul was immortal through reincarnation. Kevin had heard stories that sacrifice was part of the Druid practice, but hoped that his current understanding regarding Neo Druidism theology, a belief that included respect for all beings, would overshadow any such stories. “This way,” Mac led Kevin to what was believed to be a passage for travel to another realm. It is in that realm that the key is believed to be kept. Sara doesn’t remember her travel to other realms and doesn’t have her sword. The only memory she has is her ability to fight, and of course the complete knowledge of the mission. She can’t end up in a world she doesn’t know. Going off on her own, Sara felt pulled to crouch down and touch the water with icy fingertips, never feeling the chill of the water. As her fingers gently plunged further into the river Teith, a flash of bluish white and yellow light streamed above the water, startling her, enough that she fell backward. Kevin lifted Sara gently out of the grass where he found her. Mac shook his head and shrugged a shoulder. “No one has opened it before. The direction handed down by generations of Druid priests state it is mystic, created for the light carrier that has come to retrieve the key. This wasn’t going to be a simple task of exchanging the symbols for the key they came for. So far they had been ahead of the dark shadows that had come to kill Sara in New York, but what now? The Druids wanted to be sure the symbols did not fall into the wrong hands by chance. Nor did they want the wrong person to enter the gateway under the guise of the light carrier. How would that be possible if only Sara’s energy is drawn to the gateway?” The real world was not what we had grown up believing it to be; one of hard work, rewards, struggle, neglect and pain. Instead, reality meant eternal life that carries into other realms and different lifetimes again and again, with promises and duties to fulfil. It wasn’t until later that Sara learned Kevin’s role was as one of the last great warriors sent to protect her from the darkness that sought to overcome our world. “Open your eyes, love. Feel me in more ways than one, and by God maybe you’ll remember what we are together, beyond this earthly plane and how our spirits are connected,” said Kevin. Sara connected with the telepathic thought. She pulled the symbols from her pocket and held them tightly in her hand, claiming the image of the sun and the tree of life located on the front of the first symbol into her memory before sliding all three back into the pocket. The other two medallions had images representing the next two locations. The one image set in her mind had led to Scotland, to the next realm through the passage. A bright white light flashed several feet in front of them over the water like a brief electrical storm, then another, as a sound resembling the hum of electricity grew louder, filling the calm stillness of the evening. “She is only protected once the Druids have identified her as the light carrier,” C-05 replied. “Until then, there is opportunity.” She hasn’t yet reached the Druids’ protection. And, if they didn’t block him, he was able to read their thoughts and know the next phase of their plan. It was perfect to have such inside information. And bring this woman to Tarsamon. Sara’s prior entrance into the darker side of Ardan, had sent waves rippling through one of the darkest energy realms that existed. C-05 paused, considering the aides Sara had at her disposal in Ardan as well as those in other realms and how he Intercepting her path to the keys is of greater importance. If he brings her to Tarsamon, what guarantee is there that he will not be killed with the others on earth?, C-05 asked. Too many lives needed her to succeed. Then again, Kevin reconsidered, his love was a bold and stubborn woman who’d do anything she felt necessary. Unlike himself, love came second with Sara. They’d travelled lifetimes together to fulfil each mission at the Soltari’s request. If he failed to protect her and cause the quest to end before the keys were found, he would be forced to hold true his oath to break the bond with her he’s kept for centuries. The author uses magic and ritual. Brewed up visions, characters directed by powers beyond this world. Shape- and thought-shifting moving between realms: all magic and the supernatural. Scenes different from normal life we know. This passage describes the author’s style: “Tenderness swept through us as we claimed our connection under a canopy of shadows, while the leaves above whispered to us in the midst of our own soft moans. He brought me slowly to a climax that left my soul light as the breeze that carried through the branches, and then found his release, like a wave crashing into its welcoming shore. Moments passed with his fingers stroking across my forehead and mine at his back.”... “I feel your mind”. “Sara, who in God’s name do you think it is?” Kevin’s voice flowed as an urgent whisper into her ear sending a thought perceived threat, given that she had momentarily been caught between dimensions of sleep and wakefulness but her conscience hadn’t. Sara would need in Scotland, the Yucatan and Egypt, among other locations, to research in order to narrow down the specific location of the keys. She just had to refocus, set her sights on the mission and keep love from clouding the task. Conscience and bond to the mission crippled the tenderness that had just swept over her moments before in the safety of her private thought, as if it had been stolen from her. If she could, she would plunge a steely knife into the fear that kept her from knowing true love. Unable to block being read in a rush of feeling, she knew he felt both emotions of tenderness and fear from her In some mystic surroundings, the bestowing of the first key of enlightenment shall be held by the chosen one, Sara. The Soltari determines the appropriate time she is granted the key of light and the knowledge contained within it. “Protect it. The combined power of all three keys depends upon the energy of each one.” Rituals of magic. The priests on either side of the Soltari, produced a crystal ball the size of a baseball and without glancing away from Sara, passed each to him. She felt as if she were about to witness a magic show. This was the well- practiced magic of the High Priests, and none of the attendants would be surprised at what emerged. “ A complete clarity and movement could be seen within the orb. “The light senses your energy and is awakening to reveal its truth to you. You shall carry the mark and energy of the seven suns that have dawned in this realm prior to your quest. The bestowing of this energy is one that can only be held by you. It remains with you until you choose to pass the energy to another source.” C-05’s research is to determine the power of each key and the path to be hunted down to bring the Light Carrier to Lord Tarsamon. The Soltari needed to provide additional resources to help Sara on earth, to keep her away from the very darkness that Tarsamon wanted her to be captured in. Before C-05 slipped and got caught in Arden, the darker territory of Tarsamon’s legion of demons, he was Sara’s ally. Now she was only bargaining chip he had, in order to be set free. But he knew he was anything but free. The shell of a life that awaited him if, no, when he brought Sara to the Dark Lord would be as though he were living in pure hell. Because once one’s energy had turned away from all light, there was nothing left but anger, hatred for all things. C-05“ is a shape shifter and his goal is specifically to fool his prey, “it is believed he can absorb the essence of the power of the key”. Why wouldn’t he just try to kill her? Wouldn’t that have been easier than trying to rape her?” But since she holds the key, if she is killed the power of the key doesn’t die with her. It is released, making the key active in the world. A single key is not very powerful alone, but active just the same. The dark forces would not likely kill. Tarsamon wants darkness to prevail on earth. An ambush; a battle at the opening of the primary gateway, Tarsamon and his forces have been swarming the portal they can enter. The protection from the Druid priests is expected as they wanted peace for the Light Carrier. Every nerve in Sara’s body twitched to leap to that gateway. Her team was already outnumbered. The army of darkness was continuing to fall upon them at no slower pace. She lives. Of course, Tarsamon wouldn’t kill her for fear of releasing the key of enlightenment into the world. She may be safer having the key. How long could she hold out before the dark forces wore her down. Perhaps at the end of the darkened hall, a visible doorway might lead her away from captivity. Then what? How was she going to leave this darker realm? When she travelled there in the past, it was in spirit form, during a dream. Was it possible that because her human form was there, her energy was not as visible or as strong? She went through the gate into what looked to be a courtyard. “A corridor of dead trees lined the edge of the courtyard and I walked hidden beneath their long, finger like branches.” She tried to block Tarsamon from any further intrusion of mind, but didn’t know if she could. “Sara, I believe they call you,” he said, his tone changing from Kevin’s to a deep, malicious one. “ There were footsteps in the doorway. Before leaving, they’d reminded her there was no way for me to get back unless they took her, and that wasn’t going to happen unless she was dead. That was the message delivered right after she had been levitated off the floor by Tarsamon and slammed against the wall. The back of her head had left a small indentation high above the bed, and the ache from it that still filled her head and traced down her neck. Had she been able to sense the attack, she might have braced herself, tightening muscles to take most of the impact. When she would have the additional powers that came with having all three keys, Tarsamon and the traitorous C-05 would pay, and pay big C-05 wanted to uncover every ounce of the heat Sara carried, flame by flame. There’s nothing for her but a dark and empty hell, as cold as her soul grows. He shifted again and put his lips near her cheek. “And if you won’t give me the key to save your life, I will still find pleasure in you as often as I desire. Maybe when enough time has passed, you’ll understand you aren’t going to save the humans from Tarsamon, not with one key.” It was a bright blast of light that shattered the image from Sara’ mind’s eye and invaded the room, while another behind her eyelids, was blinking in black stars. She closed her eyes against the blinding light and peeked through the crack in her eyelids. A good deal of time in episodes of unconsciousness over the last several days were spent with travel to Tarsamon’s realm. “But at this awakening there was calm. A peaceful, loving calm. The light coming through my closed eyelids didn’t seem harsh, but soft and warm. Could I just stay in this place a while longer? No evil, no darkness, no key. My eyes shot open at that. Did I still have the key? I moved to put my hand over my stomach where I always felt the warmth since the Druids had given me the key of light. As I did, the familiar heat in the center of my being began to radiate through my hand and I knew it was safe. My hand though was attached to something. Again in Kevin’s presence Sara felt that the bond was so much deeper than the intelligence, good looks or strength he carried. It was as though they had known each other forever, knew what each other liked and what moved them. He knew from the very moment he touched her exactly how her body would respond, and what to say to soften the wall she had built before turning it to rubble. He knew how to get beyond the shell of protection to the very soul of her being. A low hum emanated from the mist as the formation of a collective answer was being created. “Remember who you are... The Last Great Warrior with a final task to guard the Light Carrier. Your demand was to remember her. You were chosen as the one who could best protect her and still show her the love she deserves. She is forever joined with you, never to be lost unless she is destroyed by the Dark Lord, “Or if she fails the mission. And before Sara knew what was happening, she stumbled backward out of the cover of the trees and onto the path, with little grace. “I snapped my jaw shut that had fallen open at seeing what I knew as the spiritual equivalent of my higher self, the copy of me that I’d wondered about since discovering Cerys and Kevin were the same entity. I turned and began picking my way through the tall saplings. I wanted to wake-up, to leave this place. Instead, I slowed my pace and waited beneath the branches of a long hanging willow. “Sara,” Kevin said from behind me. I turned to face him. “I didn’t follow you”.. Kevin closed the gap between them in a few short strides and reached a hand to Sara’s cheek. “If you’re here it’s because the Soltari wanted you to be,” Sara said. Switching to a supernatural realm, the author builds a mystic atmosphere of unity. “The woman’s silky, caramel-colored hair spilled across the pillows, while her lover leaned close, watching her, wanting her. “My sweet Arwyn,” he whispered. “You are a beauty in any light.” Her mouth curved into a gentle smile in response to him and she cupped his neck to bring him to her. “It is you that makes me so. “And I will,” he whispered into my hair. “I only need to know you are there at the end of it all. That is why I chose to follow you into this world and be part of the mission to save humanity with you. It isn’t your body I seek to possess, Arwyn.” I felt Cerys’s unmistakable energy move around me, warming me. “It’s your soul. Bond with me. For eternity.” But back to reality, Sara would have to focus strictly on the quest to recover the three keys that would set earth free from the Dark Lord that aimed to consume it. That meant she wouldn’t remember him at all. A novel skilfully written. One would find twice as much pleasure from the story, by reading the book twice. There is so much depth to be uncovered. Having read the first book in the Three Keys series, I knew that I wouldn't be able to avoid digging into this second installment, and I was not disappointed. Sara's adventure deepens immensely in this second book, and we find that the stakes are even higher than we had first realized. Whereas the first novel was focused highly on exposition, welcoming us into this world and helping us soak up the premise and plot, A Light Within was much more focused on Sara as a character, and finding a healthy balance between independent hero and romantic interest. Kevin's role in the novel was rather inevitable, and the chemistry wasn't exactly well-hidden by the author. I sort of saw where things were going to go in this novel, but there were still plenty of twists and turns to keep me invested.
The novel was still imbued with wit and sharp writing, which is what I enjoyed about the first book. Alexander seems to be getting even better at creating an immersive landscape of every scene, and the richness of the narrative (as well as the detailed landscapes) make this a pleasure to read through. As the adventure builds to a climax, we see real human questions of curiosity, loss, betrayal, and love come to the forefront, making this an emotional read, and one that I would suggest for everyone who loves fantasy, sci-fi, romance, philosophy, and good old-fashioned suspense.
When I picked up this book I must had been distracted and did not notice it was the second in a series but once I started reading it didn’t matter which book it was I was hooked. Dana Alexander wrote this book beautifully. Giving me enough information to just keep wanting more. I think my favorite art of this book was the relationship between Sara Foster and her soulmate. There is so much he knows that she does not and it just adds to the frustrations and trials that they are already facing. But on the other side it is also making them stronger, knowing they can count on the other no matter what happens. The concept of the Dark taking over Earth was a compelling concept, I can see how that could very well happen. As humans be have become very negative and live on self-doubt in most cases. The idea of the light barrier is an interesting concept that just one spark of light can fight back against the dark is an inspiring concept. No Matter how dark things become as long as there is a shred of light there is still hope. I will definitely continue reading this series. I am interested to see how the romantic aspect will turn out as well as how the next key will be obtained. This compelling book will be recommended during my next book club, though I believe we will start with book one and then move forward.
This was a really good tale. Even though I didn’t read the first book in this series (this is the second, and I really need to start picking up the first books from now one), the story wasn’t hard to follow. The author did not swamp you with information either, rather she lest the story unfold and feeds you a bit of background information little by little. That is the best way to do this I think. I did feel a tad lost amidst the many characters and their relation ships from time to time, but never to the point of frustration. The story follows Sara as she leads a team of warriors through earth and other parallel worlds in search of the three keys that will save Earth from the all consuming powers of the shadows who are directed by Tarsalon. Sara is an old soul and has been connected to Kevin, who remembers their past lives together, yet cannot reveal them to Sara for fear of distracting her from the mission and violating an agreement he has with powerful beings. This story brings the spirit of teamwork, compassion, bravery and testing your limits and it does this in a beautiful manner. I recommend this book.
“Even with my growing anticipation of getting the first key, my thoughts had never left Tarsamon, the demon that directed the evil that had recently been ordered to hunt me. I was an increasing threat as I grew closer to each of three keys that would put an end to his forces sucking the energy out of the humans to create an existence for the dark energy.”
In book two of Dana’s remarkable fantasy thriller, she doesn’t miss a beat as Sara and Kevin’s quest continues in search of the 3 keys in order to save mankind. Entwined within its pages, readers will never be disappointed as they will be captivated by great storytelling, outstanding characters mixed with evil, suspense, parallel universes, romance and so much more. My personal favorite is Sara determined and strong-willed willing to cast all aside to fulfill her destiny. Dana has done such a wonderful job with this series, a highlight for every must read list, but don’t take my word for it. Read book one and I guarantee you won’t stop there as you continue through book two wanting to join forces with Sara and Kevin to save humanity.
When I bought A Light Within (Three Keys Book 2) by Dana Alexander, I didn’t see the second half of the title, and didn’t realize this was the second book in a series (whoops!). Then I opened it on my Kindle and saw it was a sequel, and prepared myself to not understand thing that was going on. But then, something strange happened.
I loved it.
As I read, I did feel that I had missed out on certain key plot points, but the storyline of this novel was so well-developed that I didn’t feel I particularly needed to read those plot points for myself. When Alexander referenced something important from the previous book, she included a quick recap, which provided more than enough context. In addition, the plot of this novel was so engaging! So many interesting things happened over the course of the novel that I hardly even thought about the previous book. My favorite section had to be when they magically travel to a realm in Scotland stuck in ancient times, and Sara had to battle C-05 when he lured her into a remote cave. It was a very action-packed scene!
Overall, a great read. Can’t wait to read the first book so I can see what I missed!
A Light Within is the second book of the series and it has some back drop from the first book but I think it is more understandable if you have read the first book. Again, we find Sara in the middle of the fight between good and evil plus the budding relationship with Kevin, her protector. I was happy to find that she does learn more about her past lives and who she really is. I definitely felt like there was progression and didn't feel as frustrated with the hidden knowledge. In this book, Sara becomes stronger in her powers and mentally. She is learning to trust.
I feel that although very briefly mentioned the other characters were distinctive and relatable. The story pace is pretty steady as we journey to new realms and learn more intimately about the opposition. I am not sure I would turn to the dark side but understood the ultimate heart break for C-05 of knowing he would never able to see his immortal love again. I am a romantic so I absolutely love the eternal love that lasts over past and future lives. Overall, good read but may frustrate those used to the fast paced fantasy action
I do like sci-fyi and and fairy tale but this was a bit too much supernatural, magical, mysticism, demons and weird creatures. It was almost for a pre-teen imaginative mind but the sexual scenes, being so descriptive, excluded that age group. The plot was still pretty intriguing however and really held my interest straight to the end. It was well written for the most part. The author was pretty skilled ensuring that sufficient detail and time was spent on each scene allowing you to feel what Sara feels and visualize the scenes without making it purely informational and lead you to boredom. The only drawback I’d say is that most of the characters were not really developed. They seemed flat. But maybe that’s because I did not read the first book. Although this is the first book I am reading out of this series, I wasn’t’ too lost though. I was able to grasp the gist of the situation as the author filled us in revisited certain things in short succession for you to grasp what you need to know. I do think I'll venture into the rest of the series...
I read the first book in this series and thought had promise, even though it really needed an editor and the formatting needed fixed. At least with this second book the formatting was not an issue, but an editor still needs to be found! (Doing so would probably move this book from 3-stars to 4 or 4-1/2 stars in my opinion.)
I had hoped the pace would quicken with this book, but the slow pace set by the first book continued with this one. The main character, Sara, also didn’t really develop as I had hoped.
There was a bit of an issue with the author dumping a bunch of information on the reader outside of the story, and choppy, slow narration at times.
The good points about this book are interesting subplots, characters with some substance and a believable mystical premise.
If you’re willing to overlook the flaws and just read the story, then you’ll enjoy this book.
The second book in the series. Sara is off to find the second key. If you didn’t read the first book, Dana Alexander somewhat clumsily gives the backstory in a rush in the beginning of the second book. It’s never completely easy to update the reader on the plot of the previous book, but Alexander blurts it all out at once which might turn a new reader away.
Once you get into the flow of the story, it’s easy to follow along. Sara seemed a bit reluctant to accept her role in finding the three keys in the first book but now appears to have accepted her fate. It’s a pretty predictable tale but still entertaining. The romance that can’t be still smolders between Kevin and Sara.
There are some editing issues. I would recommend reading the books in order because the stories build on each other. The third book isn’t out yet, but I’m sure it will be helpful to have the full backstory, not a quick synopsis.
I truly enjoyed “A Light Within (Three Keys Book 2), by Dana Alexander. She is able to take a character, by traditional roles, should have been somewhat meek and then transformed into a strong, independent character. Instead, Sara is portrayed as her own person that eventually succumbs to her own inhibitions, loving Kevin. The truly great thing about this connection is that is was something she never wanted or was aware of in the past, but Kevin was completely aware of their connection. The lack of communication (because of the oath that Kevin took) made the connection all the more interesting because you never knew how Kevin would react to a certain situation. Seeing as this is the second novel in the series, it would be best to read the first novel, just so you have a better understanding of the characters, but they are well developed in this novel, so you could get by without having read the first book.
This book is just as action packed as the first one. In case you missed that one, you don’t have to worry because it will still all make sense. The author drops hints so you won’t be lost and will be able to keep up and enjoy the story. At the beginning of this one, Sara and Kevin are in Scotland to obtain something they will need to complete a very important journey. The beginning is a bit scary, with possible ghosts talking and crazy dreams, and the book never lets up on suspense; it just keeps getting better. This is especially true after the whole gang gets back together for this mission. They have to stay one step ahead of the bad guys, which takes them to different worlds and makes them use special abilities. You will want to read this one if you love fantasy books or high-energy good versus evil stories.
A Light Within (Three Keys Book 2) by Dana Alexander was a hard read for me. While the story was interesting, I found that it was the 2nd book in a series and I had not read the first book. There are several references to that first book, to things that happened that aren’t really fleshed out in this one. Unfortunately for me, I was unable to get the first book so I soldiered on. The heroine, Sara Forrester, along with her protector and lover Kevin, are on a quest to retrieve 3 ancient keys that will save the world from an evil demon, Tarsamon. Sara and Kevin have been together for centuries, however only Kevin remembers them. The two of them together lead a team of warriors on the search for the keys. The story develops nicely and I enjoyed it, however I wish I had been able to read the first book before I read this one.
A Light Within (Three Keys Book 2) by Dana Alexander For readers that are familiar with the first book in this series by author Dana Alexander, you will not be disappointed in this second installment. If you haven’t read it, Beyond a Darkened Sky provides the backstory and minute details that explain how main character Sara has come to the point where we meet up with her again in book two, A Light Within. However, this book is quite able to stand on its own, so don’t be discouraged if you haven’t read the first book. Alexander does wonderfully well in creating truly likable and real characters, and the storyline is descriptive, detailed, and honestly enjoyable. Alexander has a comforting, smart, and fun style of writing that is the key to engaging her readers, and with every page, you can’t wait to see what happens next.
A Light Within is an interesting science fiction novel. Sara Forrester and Kevin Scott are on a quest to find three keys to prevent the Dark Lord from taking over the earth. They have an elite team that is aiding them, and there to protect Sara. Sara was once a leader in Alliance, and now she is human and must learn to function with added abilities, trust issues, and deal with her unknown past. She knows she is more to Kevin than just a girl friend, but what? He is not at liberty to reveal it to her. After obtaining the first key, she finds a foe that can shape shift himself into to her dearest friends. She came close to giving the key away. Sara ends up a prisoner in the dark world, with no way of escaping on her own. With the help of the Druids and the White Witch, Kevin has the tools needs to take the team to rescue her.
“A Light Within” is a science fiction story written by Dana Alexander, American writer. It is the second book in a series called “Three Keys”. I enjoyed reading this story although I read in the comments that it is very similar to the first book of the series, which I have not read yet but I want to. In the last few years there is a tendency towards having a woman as the hero and this is an example of this. The heroine is called Sara Forrester and she has to fulfill certain tasks to succeed. The book is very dynamic. It is fast-paced and it is written in a very good style. All in all I would recommend reading it; especially for young adults and teenagers because I think they are the target reader for this novel.
Light Within (Three Keys Book 2) by Dana Alexander was a good read. I read the first in the series Beyond a Darkened Sky back over the summer. And I was thrilled to get my hands on the second one. In this book, we pick up again with Sarah Forrester and her protector Kevin still looking for the three keys.
I think this book flowed nicely. I was glad I had read the first in the series prior to this one. So I knew exactly what was going on. The characters are well developed and the plot keeps you drawn in with lots of action, sci-fi, suspense and love. Dana Alexander has created a beautiful world with her words for us to get lost in. I would recommend.
A Light Within is the second book in a series, and this is one series that you really do want to read in order. Without a doubt, the series is heavily into fantasy and has taken Sara Forrester out of a normal world and into something that is completely different. It’s a complex fantasy story, but it’s complex in all the right ways. The author does a great job at bringing this fantasy world to live, although there were some times where the rules felt a little arbitrary, which did detract a little from the story. Overall though, it was an enjoyable and grabbing read, and I kept wanting to know what would happen next.
Sara Forrester has a long past she unfortunately can’t remember. She was the leader of the Alliance. She feels a connection to Kevin, but unbeknownst to her, Kevin is part of her past, a warrior. As the future of humanity hangs in the balance, Kevin and Sara are on the hunt for 3 keys that will keep a dark world from drawing from human’s energy for evil. Fooled as they closed in on the first key, Sara is taken and Kevin must save her. A Light Within is the second book in the Three Keys book series. I read the first one as well and became fascinated with the story. Lots of suspense make this sci-fi book an excellent read. Highly recommend!
Sara and Kevin are back in book 2, A Light Within, a follow-up to Beyond a Darkened Sky. Sara is once again saving the wakened world from Tarasom and an evil plan to destroy humanity. She accesses this other world in her sleep, and has a long past that she can’t remember. Along with Kevin, three keys are to be found in order to break Tarasom. I am a huge fan of sci-fi. I bought the first book after a recommendation from a friend and found myself instantly drawn to the story. Fair to say, reading Beyond a Darkened Sky will make a Light Within much easier to grasp. I am anxious to read the final book. 5 stars!
Oops, so I did not read the first book, first. That was my mistake don't let it happen to you. You really need to, you kind of get a flimsy back story at with the beginning of this book but you'd be better off reading it. Fantasy is really not my thing but this book may have changed that for me. There is a lot of action in this book though. Sara is on a mission to find three old keys to save to world. Now if you will excuse me I need to go read the first book.
My review is for the trilogy, which is good. Mythology is not my fave, but I enjoyed this overall. It has magic and mystery and is not too over the top. Ms Alexander is a talented writer with good skills and imagination, creates an imaginative and compelling tale. Each book stands on its own, but are most enjoyable when read in order.
