Masashi Kishimoto (岸本斉史 Kishimoto Masashi) is a Japanese manga artist, well known for creating the manga series Naruto. His younger twin brother, Seishi Kishimoto, is also a manga artist and creator of the manga series O-Parts Hunter (666 Satan) and Blazer Drive. Two of his former assistants, Osamu Kajisa (Tattoo Hearts) and Yuuichi Itakura (Hand's), have also gone on to moderate success following their work on Naruto.

Kishimoto's first work as a manga artist was Karakuri (カラクリ?), which he submitted to Shueisha in 1995. This earned him the Weekly Shōnen Jump's monthly "Hop Step Award" in 1996, granted to promising new manga artists. This was followed in 1997 by a pilot version of Naruto (NARUTO-ナルト-), published in Akamaru Jump Summer. In 1998, Kishimoto premiered as a Weekly Shōnen Jump artist with a serialized version of Karakuri in Weekly Shōnen Jump, but it proved unpopular and was canceled soon after. In 1999, a serialized version of Naruto began publication in Weekly Shōnen Jump and quickly became a hit.

I'm starting to get nostalgic for it even after I just read this volume.

What an epic battle.

It just goes to prove, if you don't ramp up your game for the end of a series, it will run flat. This did not run flat. I can sit pleased as a fan of the series, safe in the knowledge that the author sure as hell didn't fuck up.

All we need now is the wrap up, and my god there's a lot to wrap up. I'm of the opinion that the next volume ought to have been at least three or four more, but who am I to demand such things? THAT'S WHAT FANFIC IS FOR.

Holy shit, this was so bad, it's literally in a league of its own. I can't, I fucking can't take it anymore.

I was unironically rooting for Kaguya to win, just so there could be an end to the asspulls. But what's a rabbit goddess to one of the most unhinged mangakas out there?

This is also the volume in which Naruto thinks Obito is awesome. AWESOME. The man that literally manipulated the 4th Mizukage and used him to turn Kirigakure into a living hell just because he thought they were responsible for killing his girlfirend; attacked Konohagakure, which led to countless deaths, among which were Minato and Kushina, and children being orphaned, just because he was that petty; manipulated a terrorist organization that fucked up the world in countless ways, started a world war just for the fuck of it, then used Ten Tails to viciously murder countless shinobi just to test Naruto. There's definitely more, but you get the idea. And just because he turned to the good side in the very last moment, there's no longer any need to held him accountable for what he did. He even gets a ticket to heaven because he's so awesome and his girlfriend was wAtChInG hIm AlL aLoNg. But wait, there's more.

Back in the day, Fairy Tail was getting a lot crap because of how much the "power of friendship" trope was shaping its storyline. If you know it, you know it. But even the cringiest Fairy Tail asspull seems more comprehensible than Obito giving Kakashi his Sharingan for one last time, together with a frickin' perfect Susanoo, because their friendship is that strong.

And that pisses me off so badly because I really came to appreciate his character a lot more than I did on my initial experience with the story. Reading the manga and revisiting a filler-less story made me see the complexity of his character writing and the harsh path he had to walk up until the very end. He is literally what Isayama tried (and failed) to do with Eren, a man so broken that nothing could overturn what he did nor save him from what he has become. He's still far from being one of my favorite characters, but I can't deny the fact that he's one of the best characters in the series. Which is why there was no need for Kishimoto to force the way he wanted his readers to feel about him in our face. Let the story speak for itself, don't make your characters go out of their way with delusional remarks or actions just to be sure we get the intention. The result would literally be the very opposite.

This "final" battle was also too long and its choreography made no sense. Kaguya could have won several times yet she didn't because that wasn't the plot. Kishimoto also proved us once again how much he sucks at writing female characters, or rather, how uninterested he is to actually try. Kaguya had no personality, no agency, nothing. She came, she stood there like a plank while Zetsu did all the big talking, then she vanished. What the fuck.

I think that this whole epic last battle has been dragging on just a tad bit too long. Too many power ups, change of enemy, formation of allies, and near death experiences for me. It started to become repetitive. I am happy to see Cell 7 back in full swing, but how can this be the second to last volume of the series and I still hate Sakura? She still seems quite useless to me and likes to jump in whenever she thinks she has a chance, like "don't forget about me ya'll". But honestly I sometimes think it would be better if we did. She still appears to be a love sick fool, who isn't really doing anything battle strategy wise and has to get saved at least twice in this volume alone.

But, I am so close to the end and you better bet I am going to finish this because it is a long time coming, as I started this series at least 9-10 years ago in middle school. I liked a few things about this volume but it wasn't enough to mask the fact that I was kind of hurrying through this because I want to finish that final volume already. Here are some things that I liked, Kakashi (I feel like he can never do any wrong in my eyes), Obito, Sasuke's sassy attitude, & Zetsu. But, I started to dislike our new villainess and the story was kind of meh. I just have a love for the characters that keeps me wanting to finish this series. I will make it to that finale!

Welp, there goes 15 years of my life. The whole story stays pretty fun and upbeat no matter how convoluted all the different plot arcs and characters may make the manga series. These stories are character driven and focus on really fun fighting scenes reminiscent of Dragonball Z and manga of the '70s like Fist of the North Star. While it may not be the best art style, or the best manga that has been out in the last ten years (that award goes to Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist), no one can doubt the influence and reach Kishimoto's work has had worldwide.

Naruto is the spiritual and literary successor of Japan's shinobi literary serials, a genre that started more than 100 years ago. Continuing to use characters like Sarutobi Sasuke and Jiraiya the Toad Sage that have captivated Japanese audiences for at least three generations, Kishimoto effortlessly blends the mythological and spiritual sensibilities of his home country, while continuing to echo the anti-war stance of the earliest manga artists. This latter point may not be well noted by fans due to the length of the whole series, but if fans have been reading each new chapter every week for the last four years, they will have caught on to it. While current fans may not see it now, Naruto has successfully inherited Japanese literary and artistic tropes which have lent to its success: the slow unfolding of plot, a focus on the inner nature of character, an appreciation for the natural environment through art, and an adherence to the trope of the "endless adventure."

Kishimoto has also used his focus on huge fight scenes and over-powered villains to focus on themes of human nature, friendship, and the cyclical nature of violence. Buddhist concepts and mythology echo loud and clear through the entirety of the manga with barely any effort put into hiding them, and the conflicts these characters engage in may be overcome by violence, but not in a way that condones the philosophy of "might makes right." A lot of these villains have tragic or sympathetic origins, and while we may always be rooting for the titular character to win, it's hard not to see that the world Kishimoto has constructed is a critique of the very real situation of the modern world and how we exist. Death and loss play a large role in how these characters define themselves, and while these characters have certain stereotypical traits, there has hardly been a fan who hasn't been able to identify themselves with at least one person in the huge cast the author creates. In the end, it isn't the violence, conflicts and epic fight scenes that ultimately come to define this mange - but how the characters have found themselves in this situation in the first place and how they are able to transcend it.

The manga itself also has a larger philosophical point to make about the human capacity for peace and how peace itself is usually hard to come by. Confronted with differing philosophical positions and opponents, the main character, Naruto, seeks to upend the order his world has accepted for centuries and make sure the conflicts that have defined his young life are not continued into the next generation. Whether it is through simple means of conversations or metaphyical hurdles aided by the magical "jutsu" these manga's ninja possess, Naruto finds a way to validate his worldview and see it create a real and positive affect.

Manga may be still be seen as comics, child's play, or niche material by many Americans, and Naruto is not exactly the best manga to use to change the minds of those people, but it's a start. While not as philosophically dense or dramatic as some of the better and more ambitious manga of the '70s, '80s, and early '00s, Naruto is a commercially successful manga that has not fallen into the traps of having characters that are solely created for merchandising purposes. Nor has it ever fallen into the stale writing/progression and undeniably terrible execution of its contemporaries One Piece and Bleach respectively. If anything, if someone is looking to start reading manga and wants something juicy and interesting to start with, Naruto would be my first recommendation. Dragonball Z (DBZ), while highly enjoyable and fun, was meant as a parody, and in the end some say it even become a parody of itself. DBZ doesn't really have anything too deep to say, and its connection to Japanese literature and mythology are rather shallow (look up Momotaro, the Peach Boy).

While Naruto can be rather long and possibly confusing at some times, its nothing going back and skimming a few pages won't fix. Standing alone, Naruto proves there are some fun and enjoyable commercial manga out there that are culturally rich, not afraid to delve into philosophy, and can even be educational. So, if you're looking to waste some time and want a story with fun characters, brisk action, and a touching story, Naruto should be your pick.

Ehh. Kaguya is just a bad villain. No drive, no personality, no history, no motive. She's super powerful "just because," and whatever she does is "just because." Everybody has to comment on her power, otherwise the readers wouldn't have noticed it's ramped up at all - tbh, Madara's displays were much more impressive; the idea of different worlds created by Kaguya doesn't make any sense - either logical or visual. It's just another of those "just because" moments in this volume, and the constant commentary run by black Zetsu is simply tiresome.

The one cool thing was Obito's sacrifice, and his redemption arc, and Kakashi's moment of relevance among his insanely overpowered students. But I really don't think the magic sharingans given to Kakashi by a ghost were truly necessary, or even emotionally resonant; it seems that Kishimoto got so enamoured by this stupid op ocular jutsu that forgot what Kakashi's specialty really was - drive, determination, intellect, and the ability to copy any jutsu. That would've been enough.

Anyway. After so much buildup, and going through consecutively more difficult battles with more powerful villains, the battle with Kaguya is somewhat of a letdown. On to the final volume!

Momento Sasusaku

Another great volume of Naruto! Kaguya returns finally and her fight with Sasuke and Naruto is not short of epic, they fight unlike anyone and like the way they defeat her is quite something, since I had watched this fight in anime I knew her origin which wasn't covered here and the fight was more or less the same, Naruto and Saskue being the sun and moon fighting with Kurama and Susanoo, being transported into another dimension, Obito sacrifice, Kakashi gaining a final gift, Sakura activating her superior ninja form, the trio coming together and attacking from all side and the final seal and all and Naruto being awesome, it was awesome to see this!! A great volume and the big big villain of Naruto fight ends and next up: Sasuke vs Naruto!

Kakashi, Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura with the help from Obito are the only ones left to defend the world from the Mother of Chakra. With all of their combined power they are able to put an end to Kaguya's plan to destroy the world.

Spoilers for this monstrosity.

Kakashi somehow getting Obito's eyes from the power of friendship and then gaining a Kamui Perfect Susanoo was the single dumbest thing I have ever read from any work of fiction.

What . . . why would . . . just . . . I hate my life.

Naruto ended today after 15 years of awesomeness. It ended with chapter 700, which is not in this book, but this book was amazing like all the other ones!!

The story of Naruto is unforgettable because it's lasted as long this. I don't usually write what I think of the book but over these years, Naruto has taught me so much and been such a huge part of my life, that I felt like I had to.

All the characters are so well-developed thanks to the amazingness of the creator of Naruto.....Masashi Kishimoto.

I can say for certain that Naruto is the best book I have ever read in my entire life and that won't ever change:D

Even better, Naruto got what he dreamed of his entire life: to become Hokage. Through perseverance and determination, he never gave up and he taught everyone that "becoming the Hokage doesn't mean people will acknowledge you. But when the people acknowledge you, you can become Hokage. Never forget your friends!"

Naruto I'll never forget you.

It's over.
Me enseño muchísimas cosas. Y nunca me cansaré de leerte y verte de nuevo.
Eras como una parte secreta de mí. Te ame más que a ningún anime. Tienes un lugar en mi corazón.
Te extrañare.
Ya lo hago.
Gracias, Kishimoto-sensei.

It's almost like suddenly introducing a new enemy, giving everyone massive power-ups and an unimaginable scale to the battle, while having sloppy fight scenes that are difficult to follow, all centred around mommy issues, with a tenuous grasp on continuity and flow, makes for a bad finale. At least it's over!

The never-ending battle grinds on, with people still pulling new powers and skills out of nowhere. I do appreciate the importance and effectiveness of teamwork in the story, especially while Sasuke is saying everyone else is unimportant and useless... and being proven wrong over and over.

No i oczywiście Naruto i Sasuke dostali mocy z dupy, bo jakżeby inaczej.

After struggling for so long to turn the tables around in their favour, Naruto and Sasuke both managed to seal Kaguya for good with the help of Obito, Kakashi, and Sakura. That first lesson of Teamwork by Kakashi surely came in handy.

Finally, I'm just one volume short of completing this awesome series!

The vol is the two last one. Almost all of characters appears here including peers and enemy. They help Naruto and Sasuke. They are so dying. To help them, The two characters can defeat the last enemy. I feel Naruto is so great person and I spend the time like Naruto. To read it, the readers learn a lot of things. So I recommend.

It was sad to see Obito lose his life but he managed to get redeemed by sacrificing himself so I guess it’s fine. It was cute seeing his interaction with Rin in the afterlife as well as him helping Kakashi one last time.
I’m glad that the war is finally over since the arc itself seemed to drag on a bit, but I was very satisfied with the way Team 7 managed to save everyone.
