USA Today Bestselling Author Lacey Silks writes seat-gripping romantic suspense with heat and spice. She’s married to most of her characters and tortures her husband with quirky book roles. Lacey’s two kids and her dog Kygo fill her time with homework questions and sweet licks all over her face (the dog not the kids).

When she’s not writing seat-gripping and heart-throbbing stories, Lacey enjoys camping and skiing with her family. She’s an early bird by nature and drinks coffee instead of water, because that’s how her busy billionaire heroes do it.

Lacey’s flawed and relatable characters fill the pages with laughter, snark and tears. She judges men by the size of their feet, loves sexy lingerie, and can’t live without her “boost juice”: coffee.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

This is one I DNF-I got about 60% through it and just couldn't push through. For me, personally, I felt like there was so much going on with the story line and so many different stories/characters branching off that I was getting lost in it.

I did love the main character Eric-how much sexier can you get and the sex scenes I read were HOT. The writing was good, would have just liked more about the characters without so much of the stories going off into so many other little side stories.

I didn't like Emma too much, for someone who seemed so strong and independent-she sure gave into Eric in about 2 minutes of being with him (it seemed that way anyway). Would have liked to see her hold off on that a few more chapters to really show how strong she could be.

Very rarely do I not finish a book, so I hated the fact that I couldn't push through this one. I won't be giving up though and will read Lacey again...this just wasn't the book for me.

My very first book by Lacey Silks and I am so happy I found her. Loved the suspense and the Hot sex scenes and the great personalities of both Emma and Eric. The build up in the plot made me hate to put the book down. Great chemistry within the whole family.
Can't wait to read more books in this series!

WOW, what a great and emotional story.

I can not imagine what is was like for Emma Cross. Here she was strong woman that had two overprotective brothers. She helped her brothers at Cross Enterprises. She was a very smart woman and had such an interesting job. It had to be very exciting to be a PI, unfortunately her brothers worked very hard to keep her out of danger.

Can you say yum? Eric Waters was this sexy cowboy. He was one panty melter. Women looked at him and I am sure thought Ride a cowboy and save a horse. Eric did have something he need a PI for, he needed to find a very dangerous man. HIs family would not be safe and could not heal until he did so.

I loved how Eric first met Emma. It defiantly was not under normal circumstances. I am sure he truly did not know what to think of her. Emma herself was taken back by the sexy cowboy as well. So funny, Emma is this free spirited woman that is a wild card. Eric on the other hand is a total gentleman.

My heart truly broke for both Emma and Eric. Both had very heart breaking stories. Both had a past that haunted them. I tried to decided between the two which was hurting the most. I could not decide. Both were damaged to a certain degree due to their past. These two will defiantly find healing within each other.

OMG, I so wanted to jump in the book and give Clair a beat down. That girl just did not know when to let go. She defiantly trouble. I think I would of loved to of seen her get what she deserved.

I just loved Misty. This girl broke my heart. She was living with a dark secret and was so damaged due to her past. She lived in fear for so many reasons. I loved how Emma embraced her and became the friend that Misty needed.

Things will get very hot and steamy between Emma and Eric. Emma will find she can not keep it total professional. The thing is there are secrets and secrets can destroy them if they are not careful.

There are a few twist along the way and the danger will not go away. Emma will prove how amazing and strong she really is and Eric will prove how much he really loves Emma. This was a great story and glad I got a chance to read the book. I am so going to have to read the other books in the series. There is still so many unanswered questions. The other books in the series are defiantly a must read. FYI, though I loved the whole book my favorite part in this story was the ending. OMG, brought tears to my eyes.

I've attempted to read several novellas by this author and every single one of them was a DNF. So when I came across a full length story with good reviews (rated 4.34 stars at time of this review) I was highly skeptical but thought I would give it a chance.

I feel tricked. The only reason why I'm giving this two stars is because I felt pretty neutral about it most of the way through, but the last 10-15% I'm pretty sure I was reading with a grimace. The plot went from awkward to ridiculous to laughably bad. As another reviewer mentioned, the romance scenes were great. But I don't think we really knew enough about each character (besides the fact they are both severely screwed up) to truly root for the relationship. I remember thinking, "Well this is going to end badly." And it did. Don't worry, you'll get a HEA, but first you'll need to read through the WTFery that is the plot.

I really enjoyed this instalment with Eric and Emma. They are so good together and feel an instant attraction. There are some twists and turns in this book which will keep you interested and of course the sex scenes are hot as hell. What's not to like!!

My Thoughts

LOVED IT! it's funny - when you spend so much time with a set of characters and then are forwarded on a bit in their lives to supporting characters, you find that there are such endearing qualities and story lines that rise up. If you'll all remember, in the Layered series, we got to know Tristan and Julian VERY well - and saw bits of Emma - the little sister throughout. while she wasn't a main, she had a decent B role in those and it's about time that we get to see what she grew up into.

In this first installment of her story, we get to see that she's definitely not a 13 year old girl anymore - she's lived life and has dealt with her fair share of pain and injustice and it's only a matter of time before something gives. In this case, it's the continuous prodding that really leads things awry As we begin to get to know where Emma's life has put her down, we see that she's battling the loss of her true love, her dissatisfaction with her job, and the over bearingness of her big brothers. Fortunately she has a best friend in Grace that pushes her to her limits and that of course can't end well can it?

It's on the chance night that she's lost a bet to strip that her world changes for ever - she spies a man with amazing eyes in the crowd and barely makes a connection with him before her brothers turn up to take her home . We all wonder about this man of course, but we're left dealing with T&J taking her away.

The journey that Ms. Silks takes us on here is a good one - that's well balanced with passion, emotion, romance and anxiety. Emma has been put on a case from her family business to help locate and find a man who's responsible for kidnappings in a rural town hours away. It just so happens that the one of the victims is the same gorgeous man that Emma met at the club, so things go from interesting to hot pretty fast.

The questions throughout the story are answered and avoided in a really great manner. We begin to see how Emma's mind as a PI works, and as she's putting the pieces together, I did the same. i think that i came to the same conclusions that she did just as quickly, and i think that's the intention here. Lacey our author seemed to make it clear yet not overt in order to keep the flow of the story....which worked out.

As we get towards the end, there's a high of anxiety and fear. Will the find the man that they are looking for before anything else happens or will they have to deal with more pain and suffering. Will Emma and Eric have something to look forward to together? and i don't know if anyone else wonders still, but w/o giving 2 much away - who do the 2nd set of boots belong too? My money is on Cash (Grace's brother) - i don't know why i have that thought, but there was a weird coincidence of him showing up when he did. I'm excited to see that several next installments will be coming in just a month or so, - ENJOY!

I received an ARC for my honest review.

I love Lacey's writing style and was glad to see Emma get a book of her own!

Even if you haven't read the Layers Trilogy - which I'm sure you'll want to go back and read, you can read Layers Crossed as a stand alone.

Emma's brothers have always been very protective of her, and have been worried about her since the love of her life David died two years ago. They asked Hunter if he knew someone outside of the big city that they could set their sister up with. Hunter knew that Emma and Eric would have a connection but he did not reveal this to the overprotective brothers.

Eric hires Cross Enterprises to help his family, not knowing that the beautiful woman he meets in a strip club is actually employed by Cross, and is in fact the "same spoiled brat" in which he was set up with by Hunter. The connection between Eric and Emma when they lock eyes at the strip club is immediate. Eric can't understand what someone like Emma is doing in a place like that - little does he know it was a dare by her BFF Grace. Before Eric and Emma have a chance to leave together, her brothers have found her and taken her home. Eric thought he'd never see her again, then he walked into Cross Enterprises and was stunned to see Emma.

Emma's brothers moved her off of the "cheaters" cases that she was working on and assign her to Eric's case. Emma assures both her brothers and Eric that she can handle the case. Only thing is, Emma's not sure if she can handle the "cowboy" being her case, when she's around Eric she feels connected and more alive that she has in years.

Emma and Eric leave for Ogden, and things between them heat up. They both realize they feel the same about each other. The open up to each other about things from their past - Eric's kidnapping and other horrible things from his childhood and how Emma lost David and about her overprotective yet loving brothers. Emma tells Eric that secrets destroy relationships, and Eric's starting to regret the secrets he's been keeping from her, especially after their mind blowing sex and he knows he's falling in love with her. Emma being the PI that she is, mentions a few of the "secrets" but Eric still doesn't come clean on everything, especially on how Emma got assigned to his case.

Emma's heartbroken by Eric's lack of trust and secrets and takes off back to the big city. Eric can't believe that she's gone especially after the night they just shared. Neither one can stop thinking about the other even though they are miles apart.

While in a bar one night, drowning her sorrows in shots, Emma starts dancing with the handsome hunk Cage, who just happens to be Grace's bad boy brother. Just so happens Emma's brother is being overly protective and has been in the bar watching his sister. He calls Eric and tells him what's going on, Eric's furious as he doesn't want anyone's hands on Emma's but his one. There's a jet waiting to take him back to the city. The next day when Emma finally awakes, she's surprised to see Eric there by her side. The realize how much they've missed each other and finally Eric comes clean and he tells her that he loves her.

Emma's still working on Eric's case and gets a lead and takes off before Eric awakes. Little does she know that she's being set up. When Eric tells her brothers that what's going on and they track her phone, they know she's in trouble. They board a jet to Ogden in hopes of getting to her in time, Eric can't lose Emma now, he's come too far! When they arrive his parent's are trapped in their burning house, and Emma's been kidnapped. Eric starts having flashbacks to when him and his sister were kidnapped and races to save her, while the brothers rescue his parents.

So many unanswered questions are answered at this point, and Eric and Emma get their HEA...but the Waters are not out of the woods just yet. I can't wait to see what Lacey has in store with the next two books in this series!

Complimentary copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Emma is the younger sister of Julian and Tristan Cross whom we met in the Layers Trilogy. Fast-forward ten years and Emma is in her early twenties and working for the Cross Enterprises, mostly investigating cheating spouses. Emma believes her true talents are going to waste and wants to see more “action”, so when her brothers approach her about finding a man accused of kidnapping two kids many years ago, she jumps at the chance. The job, however, will take her out of the big city and into the small town of Ogden. There she’ll be working for Eric, a hot cowboy who quickly takes a liking to Emma.

Eric is a ranch owner that has seen more than his fair share of heartbreak. He lives in the small town of Ogden where his parents also own a farm. He has a sister that lives in San Francisco who is still confronting the demons she has been battling since she and Eric were abducted as children. The man who took them was never caught and in order to put that part of their lives behind them, Eric wants his apprehended and brought to justice. This is where Emma comes in, she’s just the one to find him.

Eric first makes Emma’s acquaintance in a completely different way, however. She has lost a bet to her best friend Grace and is performing a single dance as an exotic dancer. Eric just happens to be in the audience and is immediately smitten with her. This makes things even more awkward because Emma is assigned to Eric’s case mostly because her brothers want her out of town for a while to keep her out of trouble, something Eric has vowed to them to do. Soon though, we find Eric and Emma getting into their own kind of trouble, exactly the kind her brothers didn’t want her a part of. But when Emma finds out that Eric was part of the ploy to keep Emma safe, will she forgive him? Or will she walk away from him like she is ready to do to her brothers?

When Emma’s life is in danger and Eric needs to make the choice of saving her or his parents, what choice will he make? Can Emma move past losing the love of her life in order to start a new life with Eric, assuming she forgives him? There is a lot at work in this story, and a lot of questions to be answered.

I’ve become a fan of Silks’ work however this book just didn’t grab me the way the others have. I love the idea of following Emma from the Layers series ten years later, however I think it was the character of Eric that I had issues with. He was certainly a swoon worthy alpha-male, however bring your suspension of disbelief because the past that he has experienced is anything but believable. Any of the situations he has found himself in would be enough for one person and certainly provide enough angst for the book, however Eric seems to be the world’s unluckiest person, unless your want to talk about his brief stint as a SEAL (in which he only trained for two weeks…). There was just too much and the lack of research on something major such as that just didn’t sit well with me.

I am kind of waffling between three and a half stars and four stars on this one. Like I said, I really love the Cross family and Emma has always been one of my favorites, but this volume just seemed like way too much. I will likely stick with the series because I do want to see how it plays out, but I’m hoping Ms. Silks brings back a little more of a realistic bent to the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed My First, My Last by Lacey Silks and couldn’t wait to read this intriguing book, Layers Crossed. This one was fabulous, so much intrigue, but also the growth of Emma and her determination to prove herself to her brother’s. Oh and Eric, you can’t help but love the sweet and protective cowboy.

Emma Cross is twenty three, but you wouldn’t know it with her two protective brothers and a family business that deals in mystery and cheating spouses. Two years ago, Emma had a life changing event that shattered her heart and scarred her body. She hasn’t been able to heal from the ordeal and it doesn’t help that others (including herself) blame Emma for him dying.

The first time she set eyes on the cowboy, Emma knew he was different and those eyes drew her in like a tractor-beam. The only problem was that she didn’t even get his name before her brother’s turned up and ruined the fun (AGAIN).

Eric Waters was a cowboy on a mission, well two actually. He is doing a favour for his best mate and also wants to find the man who ruined his family’s life. He has never had this reaction to a woman before, but seeing her on stage showing off her body, well he went into protective mode. Eric had to know more about this woman but she left without a word.

At work the next day, still furious with her brothers, Emma didn’t want to work on cases about cheating spouses any more. Every time she tells the client her findings, Emma’s heart refuses to heal; seeing heartache and betrayal constantly, now she believes true love is non-existent.

Julian and Tristan enter her office and tell her they have a case for her to work on. In the conference room is the client and finally Emma can get her hands dirty. Emma can’t believe her eyes, she hasn’t stopped thinking about her blue eyed cowboy and here he is in front of her.

Eric wants Emma to work his case, he’s looking for a dangerous man and is not sure if Emma should be on the case really. The investigation begins and they head back to Eric’s ranch where Emma will be able to question the townsfolk and get closer to resolving the case. Eric has secrets that he doesn’t want to reveal, but spending so much time with Emma, he’s having trouble keeping his hands to himself.

Will all the secrets be divulged? Will Emma give up her hard partying and trouble making ways and settle down? Can Emma heal her broken heart? Will Emma solve the case and survive?

I cannot wait to read more of these characters, they were so fun and intriguing. I will have to pick up Ms Silks Layers series next to read more on the Cross brothers. Layers Crossed certainly had it all, intrigue, steamy romance, suspense, action and hot cowboys. This is a must read for all adult romance readers.

I really enjoyed this story. Slightly different than the norm. Emma is working the case to help save Eric and his family from the evil of their past. Although Eric does save Emma in more ways than one I loved having the woman in a position of power and also have her be strong willed. They really complimented each other , I kept thinking they should have a business together solving cold cases and such !!

Emma has been through a tragic loss and for years has thrown herself into work to try to forget about the past. Despite being part of the family business her 2 overprotective brothers never seem to let her take on the good jobs. Emma is always stuck solving the cases of the cheaters. This does not help her with her lack of desire to open up to love. As the story starts we find Emma stripping in a club on bet from her friend. Emma really does know how to let loose and have a good time and this one night she sees a guy and cannot get him out of her mind after their brief yet electric interactions. Finally a breakthrough at work leads her to a case she is excited about. When she meets with the new client we find it is none other than this super hot guy from the strip club !! Determined to find the guy haunting Eric's past Emma struggles with her feelings for Eric and being professional. There is no denying their pull but is it a good idea for them to be involved ? There are many twists and turns in the story. A few connections that come to light and threaten to ruin the trust Emma has put in Eric. I enjoyed watching the story unfold , in this small town it shouldn't have been a surprise to find out that some connections ran deeper than others. I loved the twists and turns , I was shocked by a few and knew what to expect by others. Eric's past comes back to threaten the lives of his loved ones and you will be hanging on your seat while it all plays out. The sex is super HOT , the love is genuine , the feelings are realistic and you will feel joy and heartache. Emma's past is heartbreaking as is Eric and his sisters. I loved each and every piece of the story and how they all came together.

Emma Cross 10 years later is still the spunky, nosey
girl we all remember ...rolling her eyes....but this Emma is also heart broken and lost in a job that she hates even if she does work with her brothers at Cross Industries. But when she meets Eric Waters in a strip club one night over a loss to a bet, her whole life is about to change by this Cowboy. Eric is a Cowboy thru and thru and Emma is a city girl all the way but with one touch and sparking flying Eric knew he found his one true love, his soul mate. But when the next day comes and they meet each other for the first professional could they still feel the sparks from the night before from that one chance meet ??

Eric hires Emma to do PI work for him but would he be able to keep it on a professional level and will Emma be able to keep her head in this case with having this hot gorgeous sexy cowboy around all the time. Little does Emma know that Eric was working for Cross Industries too..when she finds out will there connection and love and finding your one true love end ?? Lies is a bring deal breaker for Emma, you can't build a relationship on lies is her moto....

But when hearts bring them back together and tragedy strikes them again will they be able to repair and survive the ordeal ?? Can they make it through death, ex girlfriends, killers, barns, festivals, bakery's, families and airplane ?? Anything is possible !!

This story has your gripped to it from the first chapter....seeing little nosey Emma all grow up was fascinating to see how she turned out and you see Julian and Tristan...who could ask for more....but Lacey gives you more and more she gives the more you can't put this book down like the rest of them she writes !! I love the characters and to see so many and connect the two stories together just FLOW'S !! Awesome Job and can't wait to read about Annabelle !! Soon PLEASE !!

Layers Crossed by LaceySilks is the first book in the Crossed Series .

Eric Waters is a Midwestern man that has emotionally punished himself for years as he feels he has let down every important person in his life, especially the women. He feels that if given the chance in a long-term relationship with Emma, he would just do the same unforgivable thing to her. The problem is that Eric can’t fight that he wants Emma so strongly, that he is willing to do just about anything to be with her including hide secrets.

Emma Cross lost the love of her life two years ago and hasn’t really recovered from that or allowed herself to slow down and savor life since. She has given the impression that she is living life to the fullest and that scares those closest to her. Emma is a self-reliant, force to be reckoned with and wants the opportunity to show her family that she can handle more intense investigation cases with the family’s business.

Cross Enterprises is hired to find the man that has terrorized the Waters family for years. The family has their suspicions as to his reasons, but that doesn’t soothe the constant fears that they have knowing he could strike again at any point.

This story has a HEA and doesn’t leave a cliffhanger. It references characters from previous and future stories, so for the best experience it’s best to read them in order.

I received this ARC from Lacey Silks in exchange for my honest review.

Emma, the younger sister of Tristan and Julian who tend to be over protective, has been very daring lately. I love her courage, stubbornness and strength. The opening scene has us in a strip club and Emma is performing, definitely an amazing way to kick of this story and give us insight into Emma's devil-may-care attitude. While performing she sees a Cowboy that sparks something in her she hasn't felt in years, she needs to meet this man. Eric is at the strip club to meet a business associate and never expects to be knocked off his socks by a stripper but that is just what Emma does. He needs to meet this woman. Of course, what they don't know is that they have become each other's project for the next several weeks. Eric needs an investigator to find a man from his families past that is still traumatizing them even though they haven't seen him in years and Emma needs a real case to sink her teeth into (something other than cheating spouses). As these two spend time together, the truth about their pasts are revealed and the depth of the pain both struggle to deal with every day is revealed. As sexy as their physical connection is, it's how they connect through their painful pasts and help each other find light in all the darkness that really pulls you in. Of course, nothing is ever easy and as Emma unravels the mysteries of Eric's family, she ends up in danger, will Eric make it in time to save her? Lacey Silks delivers another amazing romance with a fabulous level of suspense.

A new twist where the hard nosed investigator is a woman that is out to find and rescue her prince. Emma is the hard nosed investigator that has suffered the worse loss imaginable. This has made her brothers over protective of her to the point of stifling her freedom. Working at the family business she is a top PI that has been sheltered from the harder cases. So what does she do?? She find excitement through rebelling.

Eric has had a tough time in life going through things that most people would have breakdowns and never come out on top. Breaking down is not an option for the Cowboy with the heart of gold. Can he find the one that will love him with all his flaws?
Okay ladies let me tell you that the city girl and the country boy really heat up the pages of this book. The attraction that they have is palpable and exciting. That cowboy sure does know how to make the city girl.... well you know.
But the excitement is not only in the romance although that is the best part of this book. Lacey gives us a mystery that will shock you when it is all revealed.
We have action, mystery, danger, a bitchy rival and hunky men that will have you squirming in your seat.Oh and lets not forget Jack with his eavesdropping commentary. I loved this book, Lacey has captured everything I wanted in a good read. Bravo!

Layers Crossed by Lacey Silks will grab you and pull you in right away. I could not put this book down. This book is full of romance, hot sex, secrets and danger that come together for one hell of a story.

Slight spoilers in this review.

Emma cross is a private investigator who works with her overprotective, overbearing brothers. She has suffered tragedy losing the only man she had ever loved two years ago in a tragic accident. She blames herself and has been stuck in a funk ever since. Her overprotective brothers have kept her on cases that consisted of cheating husbands and wives. She just wanted something more. So, when the chance work on case hunting down a criminal for the sexy cowboy, Eric Water, she was more than willing.

Emma was more than surprised when the cowboy she was going to work for ended up being the same man she had met at a strip club the weekend before. The instant connection she felt that past weekend was still there. Could she work with this man?

Eric and Emma fall hard for each other. But with so many secrets that Eric is keeping can this relationship work? If Emma found out why she is working on this job and how, he would lose her for sure.

This is a definite 5 star read for me.

Where to start where to start..... Well to start the characters in this book are truly amazing and frustrating.

Emma Cross is so awesome because he's an investigator for her family business and kicks ass. Although she has went through hell and back she works to stay focused and work hard. I really loved her role in this book because you never know what to expect from her. One minute she's calm, laid back, then she's breaking the rules and doing her own thing. She works hard to block out the past but can she ever let go?

Eric Waters OMG makes my mouth water.. Yumtastic!! Lacey seriously made this man amazing. From his beautiful physic to his semi alpha attitude he was delicious. Besides his looks I enjoyed his character because he was such an awesome man, son, brother, and boyfriend. He worked hard to keep everyone he loved safe although he feels like he's failed all the women in his life. Eric is such a catch but can he ever let love in?

Layers Crossed was definitely an enjoyable laid back yet exciting read. There's love, suspense, mystery, and HAWT sexy time.. Five glistening stars have been granted :)

This book is the prequel to the Crossed series. These books all feature Alpha Males and strong women. There are great sex scenes, plenty of action and a really good story line. Hunter works for Cross Enterprises and is best friends with Emma Cross. Her BFF is Grace Brooks and Hunter wonders how in all the time Emma has known Grace, he has never been introduced to her. All that is about to change once Hunter sets his sights on Grace, he just has one job to finish up and she will be his for the taking.

Unfortunately all doesn't go as Hunter planned and over the course of the story we are treated to lots of intrigue, lies and cover ups with Grace's family as they try to get her back into the family that she left 10 years previously for her own protection, so that they can reap the benefits of the fortune they have hidden away in her name. A fortune that Grace has no knowledge of.

At every turn, Hunter is there for Grace and he slowly chips away at the heart he desperately wants to capture for himself.

This is a very enjoyable read and one I would recommend to all. Thanks to Netgally for and Advance Reading Copy.

I found Lacey Silks with Layers Deep, book 1 of the Layers trilogy and have loved her writing style ever since. Layers Crossed is about Emma Cross, sister to Julian and Tristan Cross. The brothers are over protective of her and since she has joined the family business, they keep her busy with cheating spouse cases. And just when Emma has had enough she meets Eric at a strip club of all places. Turns out that Emma lost a bet with Grace, her BFF, and stripping was the result of losing the bet. There is an immedient attraction between Eric and Emma and they can't deny it. But the reason that Eric has found Emma will be a total surprise. Can Emma forgive him and they move on together? What will Emma do to her brothers for interferring in her life and her case? This story has suspense, heartbreak, lust and finally love. If you love a great story then give the Cross children a chance. You will love them as much as I do.

This book is the 2nd book in the series of 4.
This series gets better with each book I read all 4 in one sitting over 2 day period.
The first book dealt with Emma's friend and her work colleague Hunter all the books overlap with the character's reappearing on occasion.
You become more familiar as the series progresses.
All of the books are well written my favourites are book 3 and 4 as I reacted more strongly to these emotionally. (Basically I blubbed like a baby as they are sad in parts.)

I liked the style of the writing this has been edited quite well and grammatically not bad I didn't feel like I wanted to scream at an incorrect word choice or tense.
The characters were well written including the villains of the story.

Overall loved the series and book 3 and 4 are definitely 5 stars this was good but not as good as them.

Emma Cross is the little sister to the Cross brothers. She works with them at Cross Industries, but is really never given the hard jobs to do. She is still recovering from the loss of her love and stuck in the job with her family.

Enter Eric Waters, the guy she meets in a strip club, due to the loss of a bet she had with her best friend. Eric doesn't seem to be Emma's usual type of guy, he is a cowboy-100%. But how do you deny the attraction when the sparks fly at one touch?

Emma is then hired to do some PI work. By whom you may ask? Eric, of course. Can they keep it professional? What will Emma do when she finds out that who Eric works for? Dun dun dun.........

I am not giving away the end. Lets just say it is a good book with a great story. It is good to read Emma's story and I cannot wait for the next one!

~*~My Thoughts~*~
A 5 star review
Well it's safe to say I now have a huge lady crush on Lacey Silks. Jeez this woman can write a book that I never want to end. I LOVED this book. I was super excited to find out it was Emma's book. I've adored her from the beginning. This book went beyond my wildest expectations and I have to say this is probably one of my favorite books of the year. OMG Eric was absolutely to die for and I wish there were cowboys like that where I live for real. This book was just amazing and I can't wait to read the rest of this series for sure.

I have received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved being back in the midst of the Cross Family. And it was wonderful to see Emma get her own story line. She came a long way from being that inqusitive (sometimes snarky) teenager to a confident and sexy woman. This same woman who knows how to handle her business and kick butt too. As usual mystery and suspense surrounds the Cross Family. And you just don't know what to expect. And I certainly loved that a little twist about Missy's true parentage. That was a bombshell in my opinion..
Loved this book and always love reading about this family. This is the book to warm you up on a chilly autumn night..

I just loved Emma. She is so strong and smart yet needed some serious love in her life. With her brothers smothering her and the loss of her fiancé she was not one to open up to anyone. Enter Eric, that's one unconventional but yummy cowboy. Their story is a good one, both not being fully honest with the other throughout but after a bumpy road they find happiness. I am intrigued with the mention of Annabel and then Cash as well. I will definitely be reading more of this series, ask am a devote Lacey Silks fan and this series is shaping up just as great as the Layers series.

WOW! I loved it. I have to say the first couple of pages confused me, because Emma was 10 years older, but once I realized that, it was smooth sailing.

This book was filled with suspense and passion. Emma was still a fiesty, fiery girl who even grew more confident. Hot. cowboy Eric, with his cowboy hat, jeans, piercing and tattoos. YUM! He was controlling, yet in such a warm way. I would move to the ranch for him.

I am looking forward to meeting Annabelle in the next book.

Thank you to the author for a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

It was great to read how the little sister of Tristan and Julian Cross grew up into a fiesty & independent woman. Emma was such a pistol when she was younger...it was great to see her continue that personality as an adult. Plus added bonus to hear how the Cross brothers & their families are doing. I'm hooked on the adventure Lacey brings to her live stories.
