When White Eagle kidnapped Major Harding's daughter, he signed his own death warrant. Every day he held the little girl in harsh slavery it brought him closer to the hour of his execution. For White Eagle was not up against an ordinary troop of cavalry, he was being hunted by remorseless men who lived only to kill, relentless men who would rather die than turn back. There was nowhere on earth White Eagle could run, nowhere he could hide from the brutal revenge of the...PONY SOLDIERS. The Comanche are fighting for their very existence...and the Pony Soldiers have to be in their gunsights if they are to survive. It's a battle of cavalry company against tribe, man against man, of the very survival of both. And their's blood on the moon, and soaking the prairie. Don't miss this exciting action adventure novel from America's premiere western author, Chet Cunningham.

This story was the ending arc in the hunt for Colt Harding's daughter, Sadie. At first I thought this story line was going to drag on for several books, but spoiler alert Sadie is saved along with two other white captives. I did find a very few typos in this book, but they were so minor that they didn't hurt the flow of the story. I will say that as the end nearer I was waiting for the other shoe to drop and White Eagle got his revenge on Colt Harding. So when it didn't happen I was surprised, but now I wonder if Harding and White Eagle are going to cross paths at a later date. For me a story has to have likeable characters and this one did. My only problems was I wanted to know more about them and that didn't happen. Still this was an enjoyable reading for me. If you like westerns then give this one a try.
I try to read books with redeeming historical, educational, value! Fiction is fun if the thread is supported by accurate research and sufficient relevant fact to justify spending time reading the yarn.
Mr. Cunningham does not purport to be Michener but I am enjoying his Indian tales and he is providing enough accurate data to, in my view, make a read of this sort worthy of the time spent.
I will read book 4 of the series next month ............................ Many would rate this book 5 star, I did not simply because I reserve such a rating for works of fiction only when the book is wrapped in copious fact and tedious historical detail!!
Interesting and seems to be like is. I enjoyed it and would liked to have believed that our historical pony soldiers and their leaders could and would have adapted to the type of training and fighting portrayal in this novel. It was so real like!
I would recommend it to all western readers. The cannibalism talked about, "Indian soup" was a little unreal but added to the overall effect.
