A Plus Size Diva: Who Ya Wit': The Beginning

Rate this book
At the age of forty, Desa Rae Jenkins may be classified as over the hill, but with voluptuous curves in all the right places, she attracts Roc Dawson, one of the sexiest men alive, who happens to be almost half her age. He excites her like no other man has, but from Roc's playa-hating uncle Ronnie to the baby mama drama that comes to her doorstep, Desa Rae is forced to make a decision that could set her free from the man she's fallen in love with. The mere thought of Desa Rae ending their relationship sends Roc packing, and he must reevaluate what he has always known as the street life. If he wants to keep this bona fide diva on his team, he has to make his case for black love and leave the past behind. Then again, so does Desa Rae, especially when her ex-husband, Reggie, jumps back into the picture, causing more secret skeletons to be revealed.

A Plus Size Diva Who Ya Wit': The Beginning by Brenda Hampton is a good read. I enjoyed reading this book. I've learned a lot in this book. I like the concept and vibe in this book because it's well written and well character.

This book was hard for me to read but I'm taking my time to reading this book because it's dealing with emotion and drama. I could related to Desa Rae Jenkins. She has been through a lot in her life.

I decide to give Mrs. Hampton chance to read her work. She did a amazing job. This book and author deserved a five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me. I can't wait to read part 2. I want to read more about Desa Rae, Roc, and rest the crew.

Good Job!

Loved it! The chemistry that Ms. Hampton built between Dez and Roc was sizzling. From the start you are rooting for them. The additional drama and crazy make for a juicy plot. I cried at times and laughed out loud other times. Dez and Roc are my new Bella and Edward, may nothing keep them apart. Black Love!

Brenda Hampton does not disappoint. Age ain’t nothing but a number and when you have to reinvent yourself after being married half your life there is nothing wrong with starting with a younger man. Desa represented for the curvy woman before we had a voice. I’m so glad she had Monica, we all need a friend to keep us balanced and wild 😂. Reggie was exactly how men who think the grass is greener is…SAD! Rock was cool, I liked his swag. They definitely were from opposite worlds, but I love how he remained a man when dealing with Desa. This was a audiobook, the reader delivered the story. I did not enjoy her male voices or street lingo articulation. 😂

I couldn't stop reading it. I had to see how much nonsense and bull Roc was going to put all of these women thru, but better yet how many of them were going to tolerate it. If this is what its truly about, I guess I've never truly been in love.

While I can see why some may love this book, it just wasn’t my cup of coffee. It was too messy, especially with the many situations surrounding rape. I get that’s it’s fiction, but I can’t get behind falling deeper in love with your rapist who has emotionally abused you repeatedly before it even got there. And the it just continued even when the MMC “matured”. THEN you want to mary this man!? The FMC is delusional in my opinion. Again, to each their own.

I struggled completing this book. Rock irritated my whole soul. The immaturity and disrespect was way too much for me. Des deserved sooooo much better. Her dealing with his nonsense at her BIG age! Whew chile! This was a different kind of Black Love. I will not be reading the second book. I’m good on that lol
