I didn't love any of the characters in this.

This was an okay read, but just like book one, there were a few parts that bored me. It dragged quite badly for me at times because of it unfortunately.

Overall, Not a book I can say I loved, but not a bad read.

I just don't know what to say

What happened? Was Tara Brown down with the flu when she wrote this? It was all over the place. It was difficult to follow and confusing at times. I so enjoyed the first book and was looking forward to this one. What a disappointment.

Ghost, aliens, God, good cities bad cities, clones, why not put in vampires and Herman the monster while your at it. I think this storyline needs to be re-thunk.
The ending was repetitious. I wasn't happy with this book like some of her other writings.

It did have some humorous parts and that's why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.

Disappointing

I'm thoroughly disappointed in this book. I know Tara Brown as a very good author because she wrote Born and it was really good. But this a complete mishmash of writing with a jumbled and indecipherable plot...makes absolutely no sense at all. If I could get my money back, I would. I have no idea what this entire story is supposed to be about. It is dull and just awful writing. I hope Tara Brown is going to continue writing, but this is unacceptable.

It was hard to rate this book. There were parts I loved. There were parts that were unnecessary. There were huge random gaps (in my opinion). Overall though, it was still an enjoyable and engaging read.

Wow, I read this book so quick. I needed to know what happened with everyone. And damn it was like why?? This book made me sad in some parts and mad of course in a lot of ways. I got confused at the start of this one because I didn't understand why Gwyn was where she was or how she got there. But I like how everything tied up. Do I wish that some things didn't happen with some characters? Of course. But it made it much better to see what everyone had went through to get where they are now.
The whole system with the people and truly finding out why everything went on with the resets was crazy. I don't want to give any spoilers. I will say this I read it as I want a 3rd book. And I think I seen somewhere there may be another. Oh please be true. I want a happy ending for one of the characters, whom I feel didn't exactly get one. I mean they did, but they didn't.

Lies Upon Lies

This series must be read in order. The first book is "Imaginations". This is the second book. I can't wait to read "Reparations"!

Gwyn woke in a world not right. She cannot reconcile her existence. Nothing feels right. Everything is wrong. She doesn't know why or how but this is NOT her life. She doesn't even have learned memories which is unheard of. What happened to her? What is her life supposed to be? Why are they (whoever they are) doing this to her? Will she ever figure out what is going on?

3.5. I'm not into all this back and forth love square stuff. It's too much. I still love the idea of Imaginations, but I didn't love all that.

My heart and mind! Oh A.E. Watson has done it again!! When she announced that Imaginations was going to end in Duplicities and not go on into a third book I will admit i was a bit skeptical thinking "How can she do that?" and "Will she be able to do that?!" I should have known to have no fear or doubts because, this book was just amazing!

Gwyn is so frustrating at times and in this book she definitely is, she even frustrates her self at points. I mean having to come to the realization you never had the freedom of choice is a jarring thought and for your heart to be thrown in the mix, then people you love are in danger and the world in in chaos, yeah I could see how it would be a bit much. However with the help of "her men" and friends, Gwyn takes her life into her own hands and realizes what it means to be human. Not only that but she see see what humanity is and fights for who she see's as hers and what is worth fighting for when people only seem bent on self gain or destruction.

There are sooo many relationships in this book that if you haven't read Imaginations its a MUST not a you should but a must, as imaginations and Duplicities are highly connected and you will be lost if you haven't read the first before diving into this book. To try and give little snippets about the many relationships that unfolded in this book would take a while and would give away too much so I shall refrain. Just know its a lot and there is a lot of tears, OMG! moments, laughs and 'OH! NO, She Didn't!' moments too. Seriously I had to pause the reading a couple times and walk away cause I was so shocked.

Overall this book was an awesome completion to Imagination and i almost can't believe she finished the trilogy in two books. The ending is perfect in my opinion, though getting to that point was extremely rough on my emotions for these characters. But I really do love this series and am for this ending. I love Gwyn and am happy to see how she has grow from the simpering girl wanting the reset to a young woman wanting to own her memories, even the sad ones as Gwyn came to realize they only make you stronger and you can then choose to learn from your past and the mistakes you may have made. All I have to say is well done A.E. Watson you've played with my emotions once more but left me content and happy in the end, however readers will need to see why I'm happy, because Gwyn has a long hard journey before her life is shall we say . . content.

I gave this book a three because I felt like it was a good story line but it was a little messed up. It's about a girl who lives in a word of no yesterdays because everyone is born to forget everything after they fall asleep, or so she thought.

There wasn't a whole lot of writers craft and I barley had to think about allusions because there was none. I feel like this is what I could have written in 6th grade. I read a little bit of Tara Brown's biography and I know that "...The books here are for the brave of heart, they are not soft or delicate. She doesn't speak in flowy poetic lines..." but I honestly think that she could have put some more effort into allowing the story to flow better so I don't wish for the story to end. And throughout the middle of the story there were so many good places to stop but she continued on and on and for what? Just to see that everything gets worse. I absolutely hated the ending. HATED IT! It was so cheesy and pathetic and awkward. To be honest, I really should be giving this book a two but I really enjoyed reading about how her love-one comes back from the dead as a ghost and guides her. I cried because...well you'll find out if you read it (spoilers). That was one of my favorite parts, because as she is dealing with the death of those around her, there is always a shining light.

Another A+++ for Tara Brown! I really can't express how much I love her writing! Another book that pulls you into a world so terrible but wonderful and real and characters you love! You can't help but feel like you are are there, and experiencing all this with them. And when you are finished, even tho you are left happy and satisfied, you miss them.
Even if you have not read book 1, Imaginations, this book is simply amazing. Everything from the first book is made easy to understand without being annoyingly repetitive to the reader who has read it. And just like book 1, Duplicities starts with Gwyn, confused and living with the reset. I loved how it started out, and all the steps and the "end of book moments" throughout the whole book! I laughed, I yelled, I cried, I even messaged Tara Brown on FB that I was mad at her and how could she be so cruel, only to comment later that I forgave her! hahahaha. This book is just so amazing and a must read! A Dystopian future with a twist, and also a thought provoking scenario that makes you think of humanity and the power to survive and thrive, of instinct and the human spirit. An easy read that is only hard to put down!

Another Fantastic book by Tara Brown (A E Watson). She never ceases to amaze me and my imagination! I have loved Taras writing and stories since the first book I read by her!

I definitely recommend that you read Imaginations which is the 1st book in the Series.

So your taken within this book to a new world full of horrible circumstances and choices, but also amazing at the same time. The characters were fantastic, all the emotions that call for a great read are present.

Gwyn, a girl who has never had the freedom of choice for her own life, the people she loves in constant danger and the world is in turmoil. Yet with the help of her friends Gwyn learns what is to be like the rest, she learns what it is to be human. She sees the world for what it is and fights for what she believes in.

An amazing and content end to a an amazing Trilogy finished in only 2 books! I was left happy and satisfied, but man the journey until that point was excruciating! My emotions were hijacked and I laughed

Well... Duplicities started out pretty solidly and I thought I was going to like it way more than I liked Imaginations, but then everything just kind of turned in to a hot mess. Everything I was looking forward to seeing develop in this book went right off the deep end and it totally blew my mind! I was appalled by some of the characters that were killed off in this book and yes, I may have cried some tears of equal parts of both sadness and frustration. So, if this book stirred an emotional response in me, that does mean that I liked it... What kept me from loving it is mainly that it just didn't seem up to par with Tara Brown's other work. It seemed very messy and unpolished and like it just didn't unfold the way a great book should.

Wow- impressive!! Anyone will enjoy this one

This 2 part book series was INCREDIBLE. I've never read a book(s) like this one- the storyline is nothing you've read before, and the unforeseen events that take place in both books will surprise you. I could never guess what was to happen, even til the very end, the author screws me up and I'm slack jawed trying to figure out the how's and whys. Another thing I love is that the story wasn't drawn out- 2 books, jam packed with everything you could want in a book ( unless you're looking for the dime a dozen sex filled books...).
I'm sad the adventure is over. Can't wait to read what else this author has written :)

Wonderful ending to this 2 book series. There is a lot that happens in this book and so many competing emotions for our main characters. What I enjoyed most was the enduring bond between Gwynn and Lyle. Even when it seemed that they might not be able to be together they still supported the other unconditionally. My only complaint is that it could have used a couple more chapters to allow me to be a part of how their lives move forward, but it in no way detracted from my love of the book. Highly recommend this series!!

Such a gripping storyline and a fantastic conclusion to 'Imaginations'. All bets are off when the 'Last City of Men' loses its control over the people. Gwen wakes up in a home she doesn't recognise and a complete stranger for a husband. Lyle and Bran's fathers are determined to free the city but at what cost and what about the ones trapped beyond the wall?
Tara Brown (writing as A.E. Watson) creates a bizarre reality that stirs an awful lot of 'what ifs' in the mind. A tremendous YA read that engages... And it's pretty amazing for us adults too!

While I loved the first book, I didn't like this one so much. More about the crazy last city of men and their duplicitous way (what made the first book so original and intriguing), less about the life on the outside (which was like any other post apocalyptic world). Didn't buy the love story, especially at the end with the cliff incident. The first should have been stand alone story, it was perfect.

I've waited six months for this follow up to "Imaginations" and it was really worth the wait. Tara Brown proves she's a master story teller with this intriguing and mysterious book. The characters are strong and all play a part. A magnificent read and one to put on your xmas "wish list" to read when the food and drink becomes boring. This book certainly isn't

Amazing book that has you so hooked. It will make you smile and cry. Is real page Turner and everything turns out as it should be in the end. You will love this book just as much as the first one and it will leave you sad that this is the final book.

LOVE!!

I absolutely love Tara Brown & this book didn't disappoint. I wasn't sure what route she was found in the beginning, but none the less I loved what she did. Through out this entire book I laughed, cried, felt my heart break and thought is was going to stop a few times. But it came full circle and I truly loved the way it ended.

I liked the story line and the characters. The writing was steady and cohesive. The character development was just enough, not winded like some. It was all wrapped up nicely with a little view of the future which I really was glad about. Some stories end so abruptly like the author can't stand to say another word. This was comfortable.

What a mess

This book was a jumbled mess. I thought the first book was slow but had promise. Book 2 was all over the place. The Giver + Divergent with a big dose of alien DNA in the mix. The h was not believable at all. No 18 year old is going to miraculously fight like a warrior. Maybe it's because it's YA that I found it so juvenile

Well written and edited, ending with a strong hope for the future built upon the wrongs of the past to make things right again. Just like 'Imaginations' is a very good book; I'm starting to notice a trend. Tara Brown is an amazing author, and I aspire to being just as good when I grow up (I'm in my 30's haha!!). Onto the next amazing world this fabulous writer has written!

This book honestly made me love it! I did struggle to get into it at the start as I did with the first! But when I did It had me gripped! I had moments of sadness, moments of complete joy and moments where I had a little cry! I think it completely topped the first book!

Re-read - the second half of the book is much better than the first half but I still really enjoyed it. I would love for there to be a spin-off series :)
