There are wedding bells at Dormir! Zouzou brings home an entourage of friends for the week before her nuptials. But when her groom’s best man takes a nose dive off the cliffs of Cassis during an afternoon frolic, the ME is able to show he was shoved. Pierre is a suspect and Grace begs Maggie to find him innocent. After all, the champagne is already bought, the guests on their way, and Zouzou is six months pregnant. As Maggie digs into the lives and relationships of the wedding party, she uncovers a web of secrets, jealousies and lies that extends well past the wedding party and into her own family as well. With the clock ticking toward the big day, Maggie must work quickly to uncover the truth before the killer strikes again and shatters everybody’s happily-ever-after dreams forever. "Murder in Cassis” is a gripping mystery that blends family drama with French village charm into an unputdownable page-turner.
I feel like I've grown up with Maggie, maybe like her older sister, reveling in her risky adventures, finding the culprits in every book! This one is #27 (and I just ordered #28 to be delivered in July 2026). Note the first mystery in the series, Murder in the South of France was published in 2001 so I've been following Maggie for 24 years!
What a wonderful book. I never have enough superlatives to review any of the author's books, but the Maggie Newberry series is just the best.
As usual the location plays a big part in the story. I can't believe I never visited Cassis...being just 12 miles from Marseilles my point of embarkation when I flew home from the best time ever in France! Cassis looks like a great place to visit especially to see the cliffs and calanques in the national park. Maybe next time?
Once again Susan has written a fantastic book. Unique characters. Making me think and wonder who committed this crime! I love how she misdirects with why several characters could possibly be the murderer. A great read!
I enjoyed reading this book with all the twists and turns. Awesome read as I couldn’t put it down. These books are always a great read. I will tell my friends for sure.
