TROUBLE IN BLUE JEANS...

Joanna McCaine needs to fence in her land, and if she doesn't get it done before round up, there's no telling how many more of her herd will 'mysteriously' vanish. Seems most men in this town can't abide being bossed by a woman, no matter how good she is at it, so she's forced to hire the only cowboy available; the one who's been run off almost every other ranch in the county.

Levi Travers has never met a woman he couldn't charm at least a kiss out of, and he doesn't expect those MCaine women to be any different. The younger one is as sweet and pretty as a spring flower, but that Joanna. . .she's proving to be a might more ornery than he'd expected. And he sure as hell wasn't expecting her uncle to have such a hard left hook. Time and hard work reveal a different Travers, one who would willingly give up every other girl in a pretty dress if it meant he could spend one more hour in the mud with Joanna. But given what she knows about him, how can she ever believe he wants more than a quick turn in the barn, especially when he can scarcely believe it himself? And when her sister gets involved, it seems there's no hope of Travers ever redeeming himself again.

The Incredible Adventures of Charming Jo

This book is the story of human triumph over unthinkable challenges and how Austrian folk singing changed forever the connected world. Jo may be a kkona of humble origins hailing from south of the Mediterranean, specifically the mystical lands of Wakdunda, but charming as Jo was (pun intended), managed to rise the ranks and control a not insignificant patch of land in the western reaches of the region. OG fans recall the days of GTA voice impressions, yodeling, and struggling to get by collecting enough eyeballs in the ever-crowded continent.

It is said that during World War II, Jo served in the Trans-Atlantic Communications Brigade and it is here where Jo led the occasional expedition to the island of Puerto Rico to learn of the local customs, language, and music. Trapped in the island, without an escape ship, and rubbing shoulders with the elders, there wasn’t much else to do. “Si.. sa…bes.. que.. te…estoy.. mi..ran..do..te…”repeated Jo, under the merciless sun, digging trenches, clearing the snow, trying to learn the native language.

Upon returning from the Caribbean, Jo then sells all inheritance from father and immigrates to the land of the schizophrenics and bodily temblors, in keeping with the trends of the times - Jo’s comrades were seeking refuge there en masse in the aftermath of the Battle of Alexandria (late 2016). It was a strange land full of people with Twitchy eyes with pockets full of gold. They were generous, and would give out chockfuls of the shiny metal in exchange for seconds of attention.

It is in the land of tremors where Jo’s over 10 years of hard work would see fruition. Jo frequented the local bars, telling jokes, and throwing the occasional yodeling in the mix. One day, the local population was suddenly fascinated by everything puertorriqueño, and every time Jo hummed lyrics of the sun, people asked for more. Jo decided to seize the moment and create a replicable copy in a gramophone. The people bought it, and bought it in droves.

Historians estimate the turning point in Jo’s career as that fateful day Jo stepped into the shores of the Thames, bringing green masked beats to the land of Europe-soon-to-not-be-Europe, shaking maracas like there was no tomorrow. The entire Rajj was shaken to its core. Unearthing the only ore of gold, Jo welcomed the audience to the tunes of West Virginia, and the rest is history. A million-crowd is said to have visited the holy lands where Jo stepped afoot. Some apocryphal ones claims Jo owes Shroud the stardom, but Shroud was just a prelude to the in-person, 300-crowd incident that has since become known as “The Miracle of the Han River”, where Jo fed them with 2 fish and 5 brea.. oh wrong story.. where Jo brought tears to the eyes of disciples withstanding the nausea and shaky hands. (It is not cocaine btw.. Jo is a game streamer btw).

It is said that while laying eyes on distant shores, Jo continues to charm the world with Noah’s Ark, sleepy shooting afternoons (overnight Forts), and the crazy, incredible magic flute. You can tell when Jo is near, because you can hear the “dolong.. dolong…” echoing across the far-reaching, cloud-crowned mountain ranges. Listen more closely, and you can hear the rumbles of “maegot gata sarang hae ssal ryuk hyung (dolong dolong)”.

All in all, an amazing read. Rated 5/7 with rice.

I found this book to be very charming (pardon the pun). I fell in love with Jo, a woman who dresses in her dead father's clothes in order to run the family ranch. She's in command in some things, but very unsure of herself as far as being a woman.
I also loved Levi. He's on the verge of being run out of town for getting a girl pregnant, even though he swears the baby isn't his. Everyone thinks he uses girls and then leaves them. Jo shows up and pays him handsomely to come work for her on the ranch. Levi finds her oddly intriguing, but he's not sure why. Jo is attracted to him, but his reputation is enough to put her off.
Their relationship is like an orchestrated dance that neither of them knows how to do, but find it's well worth learning the steps. I'll be looking for more by Laura Drewry!

Adorable. Had a hard time putting it down so I could go to sleep at night. I loved Jo, tough as nails but with a weakness for feeling unpretty. And I loved Levi, a scoundrel who wasn't near as bad as everyone thought he was (horray for this finally happening!). They had great chemistry and the book was really well written. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a sappy, happy love story. The only thing about it that I didn't like was . I would definitely read another book by this author.

This book is perfect if you're looking for a mindless historical love story. Not much meat to the story and the characters were ok. I wanted a book that I didn't have to think about while reading and one that was a quick read. This fit the bill!
