Genre: Contemporary Western Erotic Romance Series: Cowboy Justice Association FULL LENGTH NOVEL
Sheriff Reed Mitchell is a workaholic on a forced vacation. To make the best of a bad situation, he points his pickup truck toward Florida and some great fishing with an old buddy. He just has one quick stop on the way. He promised Logan Wright he’d check on Kaylee Blue who has been receiving creepy emails from a stalker.
Kaylee thinks Ava and Logan are worried over nothing. As the writer of erotic romance, she gets strange mail every now and then. She’ll let Reed check her windows and doors, feed him dinner, and then send him down the road so she can get back to her writing.
But nothing goes as planned…
Kaylee’s stalker raises the stakes and Reed is forced to put his vacation on hold. Despite Kaylee’s protests that she can handle things on her own, she’s relieved Reed is determined to protect her. Thrown into each other’s company twenty-four-seven, the two find they have much in common, not the least of which is a heated passion whenever they’re in the same room.
But living out the most naughty scenes from Kaylee’s books is rapidly turning into something else. Something real. Reed hasn’t cared about a blessed thing in the last fifteen years except work and he’s not planning to change. Will he be able to turn and leave this woman when it’s time to go?
Publisher’s note: This book contains smoking hot scenes with a bossy alpha male cowboy cop, an erotic romance author, and some steamy fun between the sheets.

Sheriff Reed Mitchell is supposed to be fishing with an old friend in Florida on his vacation. Instead, he's been coerced into checking on his friend's wife's BFF, author Kaylee Blue, who has been getting threatening e-mails. It's supposed to be a quick stopover, but when Kaylee's stalker escalates, Reed ends up staying to protect her.
Two former supporting characters get their chance to shine in this novel, which mixes romance, sex, and suspense with a mystery that keeps the reader guessing. The characters have a lot of chemistry, and while some of Reed's objections to a relationship are a little flimsy, overall, it's a great novel.
Several months ago I read Olivia Jaymes’ Cowboy Famous. I didn’t realize it was book #4 in a series, and it read really well as a standalone. By the time I finished, I couldn’t wait to read the first three books in the series and was so impatient for the next book, Cowboy Cool, to release. Workaholic Sheriff Reed Mitchell is on a forced vacation to Florida, with a detour to Illinois to do a favor for his friend, Sheriff Logan Wright and his wife, Ava. Ava’s friend, erotic romance author, Kaylee Blue, has been receiving threatening emails, causing Ava to be concerned about her safety. Reed is calm, cool, confident, gorgeous and sexy! Kaylee recognizes him as one of her fictional alpha men come to life. Even though she is attracted to Reed, she hasn’t had much luck with men, and isn’t very confident in her ability to attract a man like Reed. I seriously love Kaylee Blue! She is open, honest, has a great attitude and is a lot of fun. Humble and down-to-earth, she is always willing to help other aspiring authors improve their craft. Like many of the full-time authors I know, she rarely leaves her house and tends to live in yoga/sweatpants and t-shirts. As a fan of erotic romance, I really enjoyed this glimpse of the life of an erotic romance author through a character. As the threat against Kaylee escalates, so does the sexual tension between Kaylee and Reed. Kaylee’s honesty about her desire for Reed was refreshing and helped to move the story and their relationship forward without a lot of unnecessary drama. Reed has always been upfront with the women he is involved with; he’s not looking for marriage and children. Ha! Famous last words of so many romantic heroes! Even though Kaylee is already starting to fall for the sexy sheriff, she agrees to keep it cool and fun, with no expectation of a future together. The sexual relationship between the two is hot, sexy, fun, playful and creative. Kaylee isn’t very experienced, but she is a writer and has the perfect man to make some of her fantasies come to life! The suspense element of the story regarding Kaylee’s stalker kept me guessing throughout. It is well thought out, plausible and provides just the right amount of danger and mystery. The reason Reed feels he can’t love anyone? No spoilers here, but I will say I wasn’t completely sold on it, at first. However, the more the story unfolded, the more believable it became. Kaylee and Reed are both smart people, and the obstacles in their relationship were handled in a believable, realistic manner. Longstanding, serious issues don’t just disappear overnight or magically resolve themselves, and I really appreciated the way they were dealt with in this book. Knowing that they couldn’t build a life together without Reed dealing with an emotional past that he had kept buried for so many years, was both practical and heartbreaking. Reed’s visit to his past was very emotional, but necessary to heal and move forward. If you’re looking for a new contemporary erotic western romantic series, with stubborn alpha males and independent, feisty females, tight suspenseful plots, humor, a little heartbreak and a lot of smexy goodness, I suggest you check out Olivia Jaymes’ Cowboy Justice Association.
Workaholic sheriff Reed Mitchell is being forced to take a vacation so he'll visit a friend in Florida to enjoy some fishing. But he's promised Logan and Ava Wright he'd visit Ava's erotic romance author friend, Kaylee Blue, and look into her threatening e-mails that could be from a stalker. Kaylee and Reed's meeting is full of attraction but they're determined to ignore it and not complicate things.
Kaylee dismisses the severity of the mail, certain anti-fans do that kind of thing. Curious why Kaylee's books would evoke that type of response, Reed develops interest as Kaylee describes erotica and paranormal. Satisfied the increased security he's installed on her computer and home will eliminate the problem, Reed and Kaylee decide to have a combination, hello, thank you and good-bye dinner.
A tempting but platonic night leaves Kaylee embarrassed and edgy while Reed is stuffing his feelings deeper so he doesn't compromise any of the multiple relationships and takes his leave. But before Reed's driven far or put his brain in vacation mode, he's manipulated into staying with Kaylee until her harasser is caught. Apparently, the harasser still has ways of getting to Kaylee and now she's afraid.
Protection necessitates the pair get closer. Their closeness heats the attraction between Reed and Kaylee as they share the house. The sizzling pair move from strangers to companions to friends to lovers and create a new normal falling into comfortable couple-hood though they make no promises or commitment to each other.
With or without the help of the local police, Kaylee and her case have become a personal priority for Reed, as her stalker becomes bolder. Reed's demons ride him hard when his heart and mind disagree on what comes next with Kaylee. For her part, Kaylee hasn't met a man yet that she can trust with her heart and doesn't allow herself to expect or want anything from Reed.
This outing was sexier and more emotional than usual and was firing on all cylinders with the pesky harassment, sexy times and plenty of red herrings. Reed's great as an open range cowboy in the mid-western suburbs but I missed him in Montana. Kaylee had only been glimpsed previously but proved herself worthy of a star turn and shared good chemistry with her hero.
Small cameos by the other sheriffs kept them from being missed. A reader would expect there to be seriously hot, swoon-worthy loner alphas in this series and the boys don't disappoint. The women are equally good and they don't shirk their pivotal roles or dare wilt against their male counterparts. Rating: 4.5stars
Having a girlfriend that is an erotic novelist has to be most men’s dream. Sheriff Reed Mitchell gets to act out sexy book scenes with writer Kaylee Blue. Someone is threatening Kaylee and Reed is right there to protect her. These Cowboy Justice Association men will do anything to keep the women they love safe.
It's better than a Calgon bubble bath in taking you away from your worries and strife!
I am relishing every book I have read so far in Olivia Jaymes' Cowboy Justice Association series! Olivia has a creative imagination and a wonderful way with words! The characters and settings come alive under her skillful hands. Each book in the series features a member of the Association, a group of eight small-town Montana lawmen who meet monthly to discuss what is needed to keep the peace in their communities. Cowboy Cool, book five in the series, is Reed Mitchell's story.
Nothing much is known about Reed before this story. He is a hard-working, no-nonsense sherrif, devoted to his job and his community. Yet, he is not infallible, and like all his fellow Justice Association members, he has a past that haunts him. What I appreciate about Olivia Jaymes is the way she slowly and painstakingly builds her characters into full ,relatable, and believable human beings. She lets us see Reed in the other books, but he remains tantalizing aloof. Only in Cowboy Cool do you really get a picture of who Reed Mitchell is, the man behind the badge. The sense of honor and his alpha male protectiveness are at the forefront of this story. Olivia Jaymes makes this quiet, brooding lawman someone any woman would crave!
The female protagonist, Kaylee Blue, is the perfect counterpart to Reed Mitchell. Olivia's wonderful sense of irony shines through Kaylee's character development! Kaylee could be any of us women. Olivia portrays her as a successful modern woman, fiercely independent, struggling to prove that she does not need a man to live a fulfilling life. When she collides with Reed Mitchell and all his quiet, sexy, male personality, fireworks explode!
Their tantalizing cat and mouse dynamics are pure Olivia Jaymes' genius at work! The slow-burning relationship, plus the mystery and suspense behind the incident that brings Reed and Kaylee together, keeps the reader glued to the pages of this book from beginning to end. When you read Cowboy Cool, I guarantee you will be swept away into Olivia Jaymes' world. Housework, pending dangerous weather conditions , and your own worries will take a back seat to the gripping story of Reed Mitchell and Kaylee Blue. I wouldn't be surprised if you, like me and so many other of my fellow romance readers, upon finishing Cowboy Cool immediately download the entire series.
While this book could be read alone, but to truly absorb Olivia's talents, you need to experience this series in order. Be sure to block out plenty of quiet time for yourself, as Cowboy Cool is one novel you won't want to put down. Believe me, a clean house is overrated, especially during tornado season in rural Missouri! Make sure you have a safe place to wait out the storm, settle in with your copy of Cowboy Cool, and let Olivia Jaymes take you away!
Reed and Kaylee. I almost DNFed this at 30% because I just wasn't liking either MC. I especially disliked how Kaylee would get diarrhea of the mouth and spew endlessly about herself to Reed whom she had just met. Reed was the opposite and said nothing to anyone. Not even his closest friends knew about his past. But the story got better and the author manages to pull it back every time I thought it would get overly embarrassing for Kaylee. Kaylee has a stalker sending her threatening notes. Reed gets talked into helping her as a favour to their mutual friends, Ava and Logan. So Reed ends up staying with Kaylee for her protection as he endevours to discover the culprit. He holds her at bay until he just can't resist anymore, because he never plans to have a relationship. Eventually we do learn about his past and why it holds him back from living. I thought it was a bit weak that 20 years late it was still so traumatic for him, but I really liked the way the author dealt with his recovery. So the last 25% for me made up for any slow or overly embarrassing moments earlier. By then I truly felt a connection between the MCs with a solid HEA.
Reed is one of the small town Montana sheriffs that meet monthly to combat crime in their areas. I love the connection with these handsome alpha males; 6 in the beginning and now 8. Reed was on a forced vacation from work and heading to Florida but he was making a stop on the way. A friend of Logan’s wife Ava was being stalked and he promised to look in on her. Kaylee doesn’t think she needs to be looked after but the gorgeous Reed makes it difficult to turn down his help. His short stop turns into an extended stay when the stalker escalates his efforts and Kaylee’s life is now in danger. Kaylee and Reed grow closer but his past keeps him from commitment. I love how this story unfolded after the first few chapters. It started a little slow to me and I didn’t feel the connection between Reed and Kaylee initially but they made up the difference as the story went on. Can’t wait to read Jared’s story next.
I love this series. I admit to not reading the series in order, but it really hasn't affected my enjoyment . I wanted to read the latest release in this series and I realised that I didn't know Read and Kaylees story so I had to double back and read this first.
It's a great story with a sexy super sweet alpha male. Reeds back story wasn't what I was expecting and my heart broke for him as he worked through all his issues so he could heal and be with Kaylee.
I just love this series and I really loved reading Reed and Kaylee's story, Reed feels that he is broken, he needs to a favor for Logan and Ava on his way to Florida and that's to check on Ava's friend Kaylee, sparks sure fly for this couple along with a stalker. A fast paced read with the suspense, hot steamy scenes and Reed learning how to heal to love again.
Romance, action and humor. Characters are real and entertaining. Love the heroines and heroes in this series, how they communicate and work together. They aren't infallible, but they are determined. Real emotions and reactions. Good mystery plots that throw in just enough twists and turns. Loved it all. Hope there's more, and soon!
The quiet Reed is our hero in this book and it is definitely hot and a great read. Forced on vacation we finally get to see the human side of our hero and learn more about a previously mentioned character that meet and fall on love. It's a dangerous journey and fun to read. Plus the updates.
Wow. Well thought out Olivia James. She Has found a man who is living with a lot of pain. It takes one lady author. And a nut case. To bring him back to the living. Great book.
This is a well written exciting and adventurous story tht is so powerful that you will have a really hard time putting the book down for even a couple of minutes.
This is the 5th book in this series. It is the story of Sheriff Reed Mitchell and author Kaylee Blue. Vacationing loner Reed gets pressured into checking on Kaylee who is being stalked. Can Reed get over his past and care for Kaylee? Romance happens.
I loved Reed & Kaylee’s story & the crazy writer trying to kill her. Reed’s story was sad & heartbreaking & glad Kaylee was there to help him see the other side so he didn’t end up a lonely sad guy. On to Jared’s story
This book was terrific and the series is fantastic. The first five books are well written with characters to fall in love with. I can’t wait to begin reading book six!
What a great story line. A romance being written by a romance author. A suffering man, a lonely writer and a crazed stalker. It keeps you on your toes.
This was a rollercoaster of emotions. The characters held my attention the entire time. I couldn't put it down. I love the independent female character and then the hero who doesn't think he is a hero. Great book.
I never see who it is coming in these books!!! I was ready to hear reeds story and it definitely wasn’t what I expected but still so touching! Characters growth together was so good and the spice was so great! I loved how they played with each other’s fantasy’s! Such a good love story!
I found the story very interesting and funny at times. I enjoyed reading the book and I would recommend the book to anyone who likes to read romance novels.
Another lawman is pulled to the front and this time it is Reed. He is asked by Logan to help one of Ava's friends where we find out why he is so closed off.
