Samantha Martin and her friends continue life normally—well, as normally as your life can be while stuck on a remote island. Hunting, fishing, and the Village’s nightly bonfire help keep Samantha’s mind off of her very sick mother, who is getting worse by the day.
The calmness of island life comes to a halt when another unlucky soul finds themselves stranded, causing quite the commotion.
Max has set off with Samantha’s father and others, hopeful to find a doctor that would have her mother’s cure. Docking on a promising island, they find a doctor, but he’s lying in a pool of his own blood.
Can Samantha handle all the new duties that she’s had to take on? Can Max make it back with a doctor before it’s too late?
I think this was even better than the first one! I loved the multiple points of view to get all angles of the story. Leslee knows how to put our emotions through their paces...I was (in no particular order) laughing, scared, happy, sad, on the edge of my seat, and relieved throughout this journey. Wonderful book for teens and adults alike.
This book is SO unrealistic. I realize it's fiction, but a mountain lion on a tropical island? And apples? Not to mention that no one comes looking for shipwreck survivors for ten years! Just plain ridiculous!
