NOTE: I am no longer writing under my pen name Dara Reidyr. See my website for details.
My first poem was penned in the year 2012 in the midst of writing a memoir. The poem was spontaneous, taking me quite by surprise, and yet I knew I was on to something beyond my control. My imagination had been ignited. A spark had been hiding within, waiting to be unleashed at that precise moment in time. From that point on I was hooked and poetry was my drug of choice. I chose a pen name, Dara Reidyr, since at that time I wanted to keep my professional and creative lives separate. Then I began writing poems, like wildfire.
I grew up Kara Danielle Rogers (now married as Kara Spain), in a small southern town in South Carolina. I grew up with a Romantic imagination, full of creativity and sensitivity. My brother and I spent our summer days, out of doors playing and imagining we were detectives off on some grand case that needed to be solved. He and I are still very close to this day. Now, I live in North Carolina with my wonderful husband of ten years, our two cats, enjoying warm tea and philosophical discussions.
I've been published by several publishers including: Red Fez, The Lightkeeper, Journey of the Heart (Women's Spiritual Poetry), The Tattooed Buddha, and Felan. I am also self-published and share my work with my fellow poets on my blog, Creations in Poetry & Words.
