Deborah has had a blissful three years since she last saw the Sparks. Her recollection of how her guardian angel who helped secure her dream of going to university turned into a nightmare were well and truly past her.
She was grateful that she was able to graduate. Grateful that the time she had spent apart from her mum had meant that there could be some sort of reconnection.
Until an announcement was made at the University assembly and everything was about to change. Deborah had to say goodbye to her dreams of becoming a teacher. Her grandmother was awaiting her return back home and so was the love of her life.
Deborah's bliss is over and her nightmare has only just began!
I stalked this author; in a very healthy, non-invasive but please don't forget because I need to know what happens next, way. And luckily for me, I was able to get my hands on an advanced copy.
I am not going to lie; the anticipation made me a nervous wreck for many different reasons. There was nothing to indicate what was going to happen next, the possibilities endless, and having been such a fan of book one, I couldn’t help but need for this one to be every bit as good.
I dropped everything, including other books to start reading this book.
The story picks up several years later. Deborah is happily in love with a schoolmate and on the verge of becoming a university graduate; all possible because of the Sparks who paid her tuition, all while making her life more difficult than ever before. Luckily for Deborah, the communication between her and the Sparks is very limited, but they still have her future in their hands. But when an unexpected announcement is made, things start to become unclear, and Deborah’s life starts going in a different direction, one that she isn't sure she wants to take. Forcing her to make overwhelming decisions that could impact everything she has worked so hard for, what is she going to do?
That’s what I keep asking myself, the unknown in this story makes it even more intriguing, but what’s even better, I couldn’t put it down, it was steamy, and left me NEEDING more, more everything but mostly more Roy… I really, really, really liked but again, I find myself completely clueless as to what is going to happen next, the possibilities are endless, and seriously, I am so excited to find out!

It has been three years since Deborah laid eyes on the Sparks and she could not be happier. She has worked hard to put the incident with Mr. Sparks behind her. Mrs. Sparks is only a distant memory in her mind only responsible for paying her tuition. Graduation is right around the corner; she has a loving boyfriend, and plans to attend teaching school once she moves home.
Deborah is on cloud nine until an announcement at her University tilts her world on its axis. She scrambles to make sure she is safe and in the process figures out a secret about Mrs. Sparks. Things for Deborah are about to change in a way she may or may not really want but one thing is for sure; her life will never be the same.
In book two of Belonging, I am blown away by how much I did not want this book to end. I craved more from this book. Deborah has matured in this book but is still slightly naïve in the ways of the world. She thinks that being away from the Sparks at University means that she is safe from their manipulations. How wrong she is.
Mr. Sparks is obsessed with her and is willing to do whatever it takes to get her and keep her. The strings of the crazy are starting to unravel and Deborah is right in the middle of the knot. I so excited to see what the future holds. This author has been hooked on these characters and I can’t get enough of them. I am beginning to think Mr. Sparks obsession has rubbed off on me.
I would highly recommend this book! Make sure to get book 1 in the series.
This novella picks up a few years after the end of Belonging Part I. You should read Part I first.
Deborah is about to graduate from college, thanks to the money from the eccentric Mrs. Sparks we first met in Part I. She has been trying to put the past behind her, especially the part about Mrs. Sparks hunky husband, Roy, seducing her and taking away her virginity. And especially the part when Mrs. Sparks caught them.
Deborah now has a steady boyfriend. He is nice, but he does not fire up her hormones like Roy did. In spite of herself, she cannot forgot the way Roy made her feel. The way he just took command of her. The way she melted against him.
Due to some unfortunate circumstances, Deborah soon finds herself back in the beautiful mansion she left so long ago. Will she fall under Roy's spell again? What about her college boyfriend?
To be honest, I thought this was an improvement over Part I. I think the author is getting better at developing character, and creating compelling situations. The plot is a bit farfetched I suppose, but it carried me along, and I found myself beginning to care about what happened to Deborah.
The sex scenes, when they come, are quite hot, especially the one on the wooden side table. You'll know it when you get to it.
It ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, but that's okay because the third and final part is already available for purchase, so no waiting necessary. I'm off to read it now myself.
I enjoyed this series of novellas much more than Until Alex so if you have read Until Alex and feel like you do not want to read more by J.S. Wilder i urge you to reconsider. This series caught my attention from the get go, it take place over a period of years and Deborah and Roy have a relationship that keeps you on your toes. You think you know what will happen and then a slight curve ball makes you question who and what you trust. Mystery and intrigue abound and i enjoyed this series and i read them all back to back, as i needed to know what happens next at the end of each part.
How has this happened? How did she let this strange situation come about? School was going great. It has been three years now and she is about to graduate. She was ready to move forward to become a teacher. She had a great boyfriend to move forward with her and along with her grandmother back home, her mother was also moving forward too.
Beta read. I got so caught up in this story that I completely forgot I'd have to wait for the next one to see it through to the end. Awesome, well-timed plot, well-written characters and all-round recommended read xxx
*Copy gifted by the author in exchange for an honest review* I enjoyed this part a lot more. We finally get a slightly deeper glimpse of Roy. Curious of what is going to happen next. 3.5 Stars from me
