It begins in an antique store, where a cache of illicit weapons goes missing. It ends in a one-room schoolhouse, where a young girl and a schoolteacher face a standoff with a stranger who claims to be from the future, whose manifest faith will test their own.
From award-winning author Samuel Peralta comes Faith , a provocative short story that asks the What is it that makes us human?
Faith is one of a series of standalone stories about a labyrinthine world where where corporations have expanded beyond governments, where people live in the shadow of pervasive surveillance, where non-human self-awareness has begun to make humanity face difficult questions about itself.

He is a supporter and producer of independent films, one of which was nominated for a Golden Globe and another garnering an Emmy Award.
Peralta is the founder of the Lunar Codex, launching the works of 30,000 writers, artists, musicians, and filmmakers from over 155 countries, to the Moon.
Of all the shorts that are forming up Samuel Peralta's Labyrinth, this is the most realized story thus far. Possibly the writer himself has become—and expectedly so—more and more familiar with the world he has built and therefore feels less need to expose it. This allowed Faith the breathing space it deserved, which produced such smooth results.
4.49 on behalf of the end feeling a little rushed.
This story has such a nice flow and was a pleasure to read. And, if this progression continues, the best really is yet to come.
Another fun short story from Samuel Peralta. This one only really held the slightest hint of sci-fi content, compared to his other works. The most intrigue I was left with after the end of the story was what exactly the gunner's purpose was. I'd say I'd love a sequel to find out, but since this is just a short story, I'm not holding out hope. The author, however, did a great job of creating and developing the characters within just a few pages.
Im not sure it the story or the subject Mettee that's made me not really like it but I am finding short stories many times to be unfulfilling. That might be all that caused me to not enjoy this one. I felt like I had just read a prologue and should now be getting to the main story. If that was the authors intention then I guess it worked but it's just not my thing.
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I didn't really like it because it had too little information to know what was happening. Maybe if it were a little bit longer, I'd have had an easier time understanding it.
Samuel Peralta always aims for the soul and hits it every time. This short story is no exception. it's piercing emotion in a grisly situation will leave you on edge.
Faith is the latest addition to his Labyrinth world. I look forward to more.
