CARTER Catalina Ajemian was sent to my ranch by her father—my closest friend—with a one-line warning: “Teach her responsibility.”
I’d never met her, but the second she arrived at my ranch, all fire, attitude and grief she wouldn’t talk about, I knew she’d turn my life upside down.
She’s here for six months. Every time I try to keep my distance, I find myself being pulled in deeper. I don’t let people in, perfected being alone, where no one can hurt me again.
Love wasn’t something I wanted—not again.
CATALINA My father didn’t send me here out of love, he sent me away because I’m such a disappointment.
Six months of chores, lifting a finger and trying not to fall apart. Six months on a ranch in the middle of nowhere with strangers, silence, and a man who looks at me like I’m not already broken.
Carter Hayes is insufferable and quiet, the last man I ever saw myself wanting.
I don’t trust anyone. I push too hard and feel too much. But for the first time in a long time, someone sees me. And just when I think I might finally be free, my past comes back to remind me—I never had a choice.
A hate to love, forced proximity romance with a slow burn that scorches. Full of grief, healing, and a filthy-mouthed cowboy who doesn’t play nice. Wild Hearts is a story of love found in the wreckage, of two broken people learning how to hold on without letting go of themselves.
thank you so much ana for allowing me the chance to arc read your debut release 🫶🏼 i’m so deep in my cowboy era now because of you it’s not even funny
this is a contemporary cowboy romance, dad’s best friend, age gap, rich girl + grump, mental health representation, dislike to love, he falls first and hard, possessiveness, daddy issues, filthy cowboys, duo pov, book one in interconnected standalone series 🤠
the glitz and glamour lifestyle was all catalina ever knew. her father would just throw money at her to keep her far away from. when her mother passed, she only spiraled down further into the dark. one day, it was all ripped away from her when her father said he’s sending her to tennessee where she will work on his best friend’s ranch. carter is a the embodiment of showing no emotions and being grumpy 24/7. the moment he sets his eyes on catalina, he feels everything rush back into him all at once. but he knows she’s off limits. he knows he shouldn’t cross that line with her. but with her constant presence laying around the ranch and ever corner in town, catalina tests his patience until he finally snaps 🤭 love was something both of them secretly yearned for. to have that and then in a blink of an eye … it’s gone. catalina is summoned back to los angeles when she finds out she’s being profited off in an arranged marriage just for her father’s own gains
I FUCKING LOVE CARTER AND CATALINA TOGETHER SO MUCH !!! gosh after all they went through, they deserve a god damn break 😭 they are literally the definition of love finding you. the way they kept bantering back and forth had me actually foaming at the mouth !! when catalina would just tease and test carter’s patience 🤭 i literally blushed and looked like a tomato throughout this whole book. i’m simply in love 😍
“this is what it means to live with a wild heart.”
oh wow, where do i even begin to explain how much of a emotional roller coaster this was for me. one minute i’m all giggly kicking my feet for catalina & her feisty comebacks.. the next i’m getting teary as she talks about her grief. i felt i could relate to her in so many ways. now mr. carter hayes - yummmmm yum yummmm. hehehe i loved his character soooo so much! the way he could see more in catalina then just a broken soul. ugh i love them this is def one of my fav reads of 2025!
Carter to najlepszy przyjaciel jej ojca. Ich pierwsze spotkanie jest obiecujące. Ona ma 23 lata, a on 34. Jest chamska, ma charakterek and it’s fine…
Połknęła tabletki… później szpital i wiadomo…
Jakbym umiała robić DNF to pewnie bym zrobiła.
to say I largely related to Catalina would be an understatement. It was like looking in a damn mirror. Loosing a parent is the hardest shit you will ever go through specially loosing them so early in life. A piece of you does with them.
This book was so healing truly. I loved seeing the growth not only with Catalina but with Carter too. they both needed each other and both healed parts of themselves. I was kicking my feet watching their love blossom and her dishing out that brat side to him.
also round of applause for our girl Cat, I LOVEEE and fmc that throws hands to defend her mannnnnnn 😍😍😍
p.s. fuck her daddy with a 10"pole. push him off a ledge. we don't stan him 🙅🏻♀️
I devoured this book! I love Catalina and Carter so much 🥺dad best friend trope will always be my favorite 🤭 Catalina I just wanna give her a hug😭I wanna say the grief was so well done I was sobbing 😭 Carter is everything I love him so much he is such a sweetheart to Catalina 😭💕
What a great debut! I can’t wait for what’s to come 🤗
First of all, thank you to the author for letting me ARC read. Secondly I don’t wanna hear or see any negative comments for this book. I will come for you! lol that’s how much I love this book.
This book has everything you need in a cowboy romance!!
When I started the book I really thought it would be slow, but damn was I wrong! The romance, the love between Carter and Catalina is PERFECT!. The passion the spice is absolutely delicious. I devoured this book. I did take a break from it because I ugly cried so much for this book. I never thought I would relate to a character so much😩 The way Catalina is treated is horrible….. Just thinking about it. Makes me want to cry again. This book definitely holds a special place in my heart! And if I could give this book a higher rating, I would give it 20+ stars this book deserves it💜
So grab your tissue, your favorite snack, and your drink because you NEED to read this book!
Wild hearts by A.M Fernandez just became my all-time favorite cowboy romance—and that’s saying something because cowboy romance is my comfort genre, my bread and butter, and this one outdid every single one I’ve ever read.
This debut gave me everything: small town charm, a swoony age gap, a broody dad’s best friend, and a city girl turned ranch hand in the most delightfully chaotic way. Watching our wealthy, spoiled FMC trade her credit cards for Muck boots was chef’s kiss.
But this isn’t just a cute cowboy romance—it’s layered with unexpected depth. Grief, healing, mental health, and some seriously gasp-worthy twists made this way more than just a feel-good read. It was heartfelt, emotional, and honestly unforgettable.
A.M. Fernandez is one to watch—Ruby Ranch has lassoed my heart, and I’m not looking back. 🤠💘
Let’s all go to Blue Moon Ranch, grab a few beers and enjoy the sunset!
Catalina reminded me of Blair Waldorf! She was given everything she wanted, she partied, did all the FUN things but nothing filled that emptiness inside. After losing her mom she spiraled. Her “dad” decided it was best for her to stop being irresponsible and send her away to his “best friend’s” Carter’s ranch.
That’s when reality set in. No escaping from the real world. She learned how to be a “rancher” and embraced herself. But she also got on the grumpy, hard ass’s nerves! She sassed the hell out of him and the B-A-N-T-E-R, I ate it up!
Carter was guarded, has his walls ALL the way UP! Scared from his past and now, he tried VERY hard to stay away from Catalina!
For being a debut novel, I am blown away! Author A.M. Fernandez did an amazing job in welcoming us to this world she created.
You’re gonna swoon over Carter! Crack up over Catalina’s girl gang (Amelia and Layla) they are HILARIOUS! And drool over Carter’s brothers, Maverick and Reed! AHHHHH!!!
Thank you A.M. Fernandez for giving me the opportunity to read Wild Hearts in advance!
Round of applause 🙌 this book was everything I needed and more! one of my top reads this year 👌 I loved the banter between Catalina and Carter so much. I really connected with Catalina and her inner thoughts about life and herself. Definitely, I felt seen and heard by her, and I cried like a baby. Don't even get me started on Carter! he's an amazing person, and he's so patient and attentive! this book definitely had me sucked in, and I wish it never ended.
I devoured this book! I couldn’t put it down. I loved reading the story of Carter and Catalina develop and unfold into something beautiful and real. Just when you think you know how the story is going, there’s a twist that caught me by surprise and kept me wanting to read more and more. I can’t wait for another book to come out and read more about Ruby Ridge.
If you loved Rhett and Cade Eaton from the Chestnut Springs series, then let me introduce you to our mmc Carter 😏 this man!! I was a goner for him the moment I read his chapter 😍 he's a grumpy cowboy with a mouth on him, but also worships the ground that Catalina walks on. At first, I found Catalina to be a bit immature in the beginning, but towards the end, she grew into herself and her place in Carters small town. Carter also has two other brothers named Maverick and Reed. I'm looking forward to reading their stories, especially Reeds 🤭
I’m gonna start this off by saying FCK Catalina’s father. Never have I ever hated a character so dang much in my entire life. He makes my blood flipping BOIL. Worst of the worst.
Catalina is such a feisty spirted woman finding her way through life after losing her mama. Grief is hard and messy, I think this book really show cases that well. Even how it affects one’s anxiety and depression. It had great representation of that. She has such a strong heart and is very loud (in a good way). I loved Catalina so much.
Carter is a pretty typical grumpy cowboy. He felt generic To me. I loved his little quips and the whole I’ll burn the world for you vibes but he just fell short for me personally. He had some amazing moments especially when he stood up for her against her father! (which spoiler is his “best friend”) He has trouble expressing his feelings due to his ex so he gives off this cold exterior. I loved the relationship he has with his brothers (Can’t wait for mavericks book)
As far as side characters Maverick and reed were amazing (Carters brothers). They added little important bits and some nice found family vibes towards the end of the book just like Layla and Amelia did (Catalina’s besties).
Side note so glad this didn’t end with a pregnancy trope (I hate them)
“You think you’re hard to love, but loving you is the only thing that’s ever made sense to me.”
this being a debut novel is WILD to me… the writing was phenomenal and i was hooked and invested the whole time. this everything you could ever want in a cowboy romance book, absolutely obsessed with Catalina and Carter! Both their stories were so heartwarming and the way they found each other and found peace/love had me sobbing!! & pls the spice was everythingggg 🥵💦
♡ Rich Girl X Cowboy ♡ Hate to Love ♡ Forced Proximity ♡ Dad’s Bestfriend ♡ Age Gap
so proud of you Ana🤭🤍 thank you for trusting me with your first book, i’m sooo ready for Mav’s story!!
I feel like it could have used a bit more editing. Some of the dialogue felt a bit off to me and the author has a fondness for describing a lot of things with "like" and comparisons, which was a bit too much for me in some places.
But I liked the wild and loud character of the fmc and I appreciated the amount of the word fuck and other swear words.
“She talks like she’s bulletproof, but she touches like she’s terrified to be left behind.”
Spice level | 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ 4⭐️’s & would have gave 5 but “GD” was used way to many times.
Catalina has a mouth full of sass & wild side in which her “father” 🙄 sends her away to live with his best friend in hopes she will learn responsibility. Such an emotional rollercoaster!
Thank you so much for allowing me to read in advance as this book was a great read! You are a fantastic Author and I can’t wait for the next book in the series! 😍
I am so appreciative to have received this ARC🥺🥺🥺🥺 When I say I was in a reading SLUMP….DROWNING…and then I was pulled in by the grumpy cowboy again🤭🤭 AND OH MY GOD SOOOOOO WORTH THE READ!!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (10s, 10s, 10s!!!!!)
Meet Catalina. A young, fiery, spiraling, grumpy, rich girl drowning in grief and numbing it with anything money can buy meet no-nonsense, rough round the edges, hardworking, grumpy cowboy. Sent to ranch in Tennessee to by her father to be taught how to be “responsible”. OF COURSE the sassy queen is not a fan of hard labor and horse shit…or the cowboy who wakes her up at 5am. Meet Carter Hayes. A no bullshit, rough round the edges, hard working cowboy who tend to his ranch in charge of looking after a spoiled brat…..Did i mention he’s her dad’s best friend?? Hehehe These two together? FIRE FIRE FIRE But there’s more to this party girl and hard ass man than meets the eye ….
Are you ready to catch a flight from Beverly Hills to yeehaw Tennessee? Then be ready 7/21 for Reckless Hearts💜👢

god this woman’s father was a piece of work. maybe more than a piece of work. like a straight dick. which was not fun for me to read. and i wasn’t like jumping to finish her. it gave hannah montana the movie (rich girl going to tennessee and living on a farm) which was fun but i just kinda lost interest halfway through. 2.25/5
I went into this book excited — Cowboy Dad’s Best Friend? Age gap? My absolute kryptonite. How could an author mess that up? Well… somehow, she managed.
Let’s start with the fact that this was hands down the worst “Dad’s Best Friend” setup I’ve ever read. The FMC (Catalina) supposedly didn’t even know who her best friend’s dad was. How exactly do you have a best friend when her dad — the supposed love interest — has never been around? That was my first red flag, but I figured I’d give it a chance. Big mistake.
Then we hit the age gap math. He’s 34, she’s 23 — perfect, right? Except her dad is said to be “a couple of years older” than the MMC, putting him at around 36. So… he had her when he was what, twelve? Ew. Plot hole city.
The dad himself? A cartoon villain. Every line he spoke felt like déjà vu. I rolled my eyes so much I’m surprised they didn’t get stuck. And the FMC — honestly, there was nothing endearing about her. Maybe it was the constant f-bombs or the way she called her best friends “bitches” every other line, but she grated on me. Her anxiety was tossed in purely for plot convenience — grief I understood, but the rest of her “mental health” felt either overdone or forgotten halfway through. Don't get me started on the suicide attempt.
Then we get to our cowboy hero. (Carter) The supposed Alpha. Except he’s letting his best friend’s daughter move in and treat his house like a frat pad while disrespecting him at every turn. Grumpy cowboy? More like doormat in boots. And for a book this long, there was zero chemistry between them. It went from awkward to insta-love without a single believable spark.
The ex subplot? Pointless. The “big, strong cowboy” getting taken down by a city boy dad in one punch? Hilarious, but not in the way the author intended. And then came the arranged marriage twist. Yep — apparently, her dad offered her up as part of a business deal. At that point, my eye-rolling was Oscar-worthy.
It honestly felt like the author wanted to cram in every trope under the sun and do them all badly. The only faint saving grace was Carter’s brothers, but even that got ruined once it became painfully clear they’re each getting their own book — and of course, they’ll fall in love with the FMC’s annoying best friends. Because… originality is dead, I guess.
Carter’s cheesy one-liners couldn’t save this train wreck, and neither could my stubborn hope that it would somehow get better. Spoiler: it didn’t.
I won’t be continuing the series — not even if you paid me in cowboy hats and tequila.

I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that Wild Hearts is a debut because excuse me??? WHO allowed this level of talent right out the gate?! This book absolutely wrecked me in the best way.
Catalina is unraveling after the loss of her mother and honestly, who wouldn’t be? The one person who truly loved her is gone. And her father? Let’s just say he’s the kind of man that makes you want to scream into a pillow (or throat punch, your choice).
Catalina’s grief hit so close to home for me. Her grief felt raw, real, and painfully relatable…losing a parent shatters you, and this book captures that heartbreak perfectly.
After spiraling and spending far too much of her father’s money trying to numb the hurt, he ships her off to live with his best friend…the tall, dark, broody, and ridiculously sexy cowboy himself, Carter Hayes.
What starts as pure hate fueled tension quickly combusts into a forbidden, dirty, can’t look away romance. The chemistry? Ferocious. The tension? Unhinged. And Carter’s mouth? FILTHY. Like, clutch your chest, reread the scene, questioning your life choices filthy 🥵
PS: And can we talk about the delicious hype and build up for Catalina’s wild girl besties and Carter’s equally dangerous brothers?? Because whew… the groundwork has been LAID.
I am beyond ready for Defensive Hearts-Amelia & Maverick’s story dropping January 7th 🙌
Wild Hearts had me on an emotional roller coaster from the beginning. You had your fancy no care attitude big city girl and your typical tall sexy cowboy on the ranch! But if you think that’s all the story is then you’re in for a wildddd ride! 😉 The way the characters shared tragic pasts and started to become one as a whole together really spoke to the heart!
Here’s a little glimpse of Wild Hearts!! • Our FMC Catalina is a Big city girl that used daddy’s money for fashion, trips, liquor, drugs all the bad decisions, gets shipped off to one of daddy’s friends, in Tennessee so she can learn her lesson and hopefully turn her life around. • Our MMC Carter is a country boy, lives on a ranch from Tennessee that didn’t know what he was getting himself into when agreeing to let his friend’s daughter come stay with him for 6 months! • Catalina learns the hard way that the only way to make money is to work for it. So she got a job at a small town bar owned by Carters brother Reed. • let’s just say Catalina and Carter might have some sparks brewing 👀😉
Now I can’t spoil the whole book for you so you’re gonna have to pick this one up yourself so you can fall in love with Catalina and Carter’s story like I did! ❤️🔥
I am SHOCKED this is a debut novel. You’ve got to be joking! The storyline, humor, tension, spice…12000/10.
Catalina is probably one of my most favorite FMCs of all time. She is freaking hilarious and so chaotic. The girl steals his truck for crying out loud. I absolutely love her devilish energy and the way she gives Carter whiplash with her antics.
Carter…dear sweet Carter. He is an angel. Sir doesn’t take her crap but chooses to embrace it and dish it right back. Catalina needs someone to keep her interest and his constant push and pull is just what she needs. He’s been stuck in a rut for far too long and she isn’t afraid to push his boundaries. And I loved every bit of it.
Also, there is a spicy novella sequel and it was just darling!! I always want more from these cowboys and it was just the right amount. Also, seeing snippets of the brothers gave me enough closure until book 2 comes out!
****4.75**** wow, this book ROPED me in. i enjoyed this book so much i legit finished it quickly. my only issue with the book was that the MC was like scared of her dad but i understand why. she wasnt locked in her room, i feel like she couldve ran away or something. but when your family dynamic is this terrible, i can see why she was afraid of leaving. i feel like her dad got worse as the book went on, at first i thought that he was just truly trying to teach her a lesson and make her work for once, but then he just started getting worse. the spice in this book??? WOW. the love story?? WOW. i'm looking forward to reading the next one.
I absolutely loved it! The way i could relate to Catalina is the way she loves LOUD and the way she keeps smile on even when shes down. The way her anxiety sometime feels all consuming. The way shes grieving the loss of her mom hit wayy to close to home for me! And OMG the man that is Carter Hayes 🤌🥵 i just love how he openly accepts her!! The way he never tried to make her feel small! The way he loves her unconditionally! Sheeshhh I fell so hard for this story!! 🖤🖤🖤 cant wait to read Mavericks and Reeds story!!!!

Both MMC and FMC had personality changes within the final chapters. Catalina had a strong character for about 80% of the book. When her father arrives, she becomes weak. She no longer stands strong. Carter was also solid at the beginning of the book. By the end, he spend time working on a bookstore instead of going after her? Carter and the father were best friends? there was no evidence of a positive relationship. It made no sense.
I totally enjoyed the first 80% of the book. The ending, not so much.
Talk about a heck of a debut book. I couldn’t put this one down. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to throw my kindle against a wall. I totally fell in love with these characters from the beginning. The author managed to have us discover how much depth the FMC had at the same time the MMC did. I loved this book and cannot wait for the next one!
