Damaged

Rate this book
**THIS BOOK CAN BE READ AS A STANDALONE**

*WARNING - This book is recommended for persons over the age of 18 due to sexual content, coarse language and some violence.

Jacinta’s story takes place seven years after the day Brooke and Logan Cavanagh saved her from the violent clutches of her father. Her mother has now remarried and Jacinta has a new step-brother, Connor, whom she is adores.

Jacinta

After Jacinta’s step-brother Connor, moves to Sydney, she decides to move back there to live with him.

She is still so damaged from her violent past that, at twenty years of age, she has never had a serious boyfriend, and is still a virgin. So her best friend, Cassie, convinces her to have a one-night stand with a stranger before her 21st birthday.

The next day, Jacinta is surprised to find she's actually upset that she will never see him again, but would not take back the memories of that night for anything. She also feels that she is way too damaged to ever have a serious relationship anyway.

Unbeknownst to her, their paths will cross again. Will the attraction she felt that night still be there? Or will she regret it ever happened?

Mason

Mason doesn’t do relationships…ever. He has sex with random women, often. When he meets Jacinta, though, things change. He finds there is a deep connection between them that he just can’t explain.

When she does something that not only leaves him feeling crushed, but extremely pissed, he is left feeling lost. He doesn’t even know her real name and has no way of finding her.

But when fate brings them together again, will he be able to forgive her for what she did? Or will he forget about that one night they spent together and go back to his playboy ways?

*This book is part of the Destiny Series based on a character in My Forever. It is a standalone book. If you'd like to find out Jacinta's background story I suggest you read My Destiny and My Forever first.

Though this is part of the Destiny Series it can very much be read as a standalone story. We met Jacinta in My Destiny as young teenager living a nightmare existence with a father that abused her mother in all ways that Jacinta was often witness to. The story starts with a flashback to the scene that led to Jacinta’s rescue and picks up seven years on since she was rescued by Logan and Brooke. Jacinta is now coming up to her 21st birthday and moving back to Sydney to live with her stepbrother Connor and to look for work in her chosen career as a child physiologist.
Jacinta is adamant to avoid the kind of relationship her mother endured and as such decides she doesn’t want a relationship of any kind as she still has a distrust of all men. However Jacinta is still a virgin and wants to rid herself of her V card before her birthday so on a night out with her friend Cassie she has a one night stand with a guy she had a brief altercation with just days before at her brothers gym.
Mason is a lovely character and he too is deeply scarred and damaged by his childhood with an abusive father and has spent time living as homeless but he has worked his way up in life. He also has a young son, the result of a one night stand, that he has recently taken custody of from an abusive mother. He has a one night stand with Jacinta but finds himself confused at being upset when the mystery girl who refused him her name has disappeared in the night.
Once Jacinta and Mason’s paths cross again Mason is adamant he wants something more with Jacinta but she does not so they agree to be friends. Jacinta forms a lovely relationship with Mason’s Son that just seems to make him want her more and so Mason sets out to woo Jacinta. But is Jacinta ready to take the risk of letting her defences down for Mason??
Just as you think things may just turn out alright for these two Mason messes up in the worse way and Jacinta runs as fast as she can from their relationship. What follows is a series of events that only seem to keep pushing them further apart and has you hoping that they will catch a break. I am trying not to give too much of the story away. Will they manage to finally make a steady stable relationship out of the mess of their pasts??
I really enjoyed this story, it was a good lead off of Logan and Brooke’s story and it was nice to catch up with them in Damaged too. There are once again a good set of sub characters that added to the story and the sex scenes are just seriously hot. This one was not as syrupy as the previous books which I enjoyed more and just the right balance of angst within a lovely love story to keep your attention through the book. I was surprised to see Angel’s story is next as I was expecting more of Connor & Cassie given their sub story in Damaged but either way I look forward to more from this author.

Damaged is J.L. Perry's best book yet. I say yet, because each book just gets better and better. For anyone who isn't familiar with this author's work, I strongly recommend rectifying that immediately. Damaged, will grab your attention and keep it. I didn't want to put this book down at all, even when I finished reading it. The writing is phenomenal, the storyline is strong and touches on an important subject matter, the characters left me emotional, and overall this book is a must read.

This book revolves around Jacinta and Mason. Jacinta has issues, she doesn't trust men other than her step brother and for good reason. Jacinta is convinced she needs to lose her virginity, and decides to have a one night stand...this is where Mason comes in to play. Only problem is, a one night stand doesn't always stay a one night stand. They meet again and it's like fate is bringing these two damaged souls together. Mason has issues just like Jacinta, but Mason doesn't let them define him. I loved him as a character.

This book puts you in the front seat of a very emotional roller coaster and all you can do, is hold on for dear life and hope you make it out in one piece.....and you will make it out in one piece and when you do, you will be thanking J.L. Perry for an amazing ride.

4 red jelly bean stars

This is my second Perry book and most certainly will not be my last.

Perry has a knack for grabbing a reader and sucking them in, I was hooked throughout the whole story.

Two tortured souls, literally running into each other, Mason and Jacinta are figuring out their lives together and separately at the same time. All the while, dealing with personal problems of their own but loving one another irrevocably. Throw in a set of abusive parents, their own and Blake's (Mason's beautiful son), this book didn't always leave a yummy taste in your mouth.

Perry however masterfully crafted a real life scenario and applied it to page. She kept it real and it didn't feel forced at all. The sub characters, Cass and Conner were also fabulous and really added to the story.

Mason was a lovely character. Such a beautiful man and father. Jazzie didn't have a chance with him. She fell hard and fell fast. As did he. Despite some bumpy spots along the way, these two learn to grow and forgive one another for silly mistakes that hold no merit when looking at the big picture.

Jacinta is one tough chick. Stronger than she initially thinks. Even though all the crying did annoy me at some times, I understand the emotional roller coaster she was on and they warranted the tears.

Even though the characters are young, I never felt they were immature, which allowed for the flow of the story to really guide me naturally. And I appreciate that it an author. Perry gets nitty and gritty, but in the best way.

Damaged is J.L. Perry's third book, we were introduced to Jacinta in the Destiny Series.

Home for Jacinta should have been a happy loving place but as soon as her father got home from work everyday things weren't loving or peaceful, it was anything but. Dancing gave Jacinta an escape and a place where she could let all the deep feeling's flow out freely. Life moves on and as Jacinta grows into a loving young woman, she gets on with life and builds a future. Running into Mason changed her plans made her feel all the things she swore she wouldn't. So as her birthday approaches she decides to put herself out there just this once.

Mason is dealing with his own problems and building a life that's stable, slower paced and nothing like his old life. He believes he can do anything he puts his mind to. He is the sweet, loving, caring man that any woman would be lucky to have.

Paths cross in more ways than one, the deep connection between Jacinta and Mason can grow into something beautiful and freeing if they let it. Is there to much hurt, secrets and pain to destroy everything they have?

Beautiful writing, Jodi's best book yet. It flows perfectly and you can feel every emotion that's in the book. Happy, sad, anger and suspense that will keep you guessing. Loved it, can't wait to read more from this author.

I am so in love with this book! Jacinta/"Jazzi" and Mason are just perfect together.
Two people who have similar backgrounds of growing up with an abusive father, one can easily see why Jaz doesn't ever want a relationship and Mason doesn't do relationships. One hot night together changes everything. While both fall hard, Jaz does her best to resist. But who can resist the smug, cocky yet sweetheart Mason and his adorable son Blake? They both just melted my heart. You will be right alongside them in their journey to fight their fears, trust issues, and demons and come out stronger together. I also love the secondary characters of Jaz's brother Connor and her best friend Cass.
What JL Perry does so well is to make my heart fill with such love and joy and make you believe that no matter what or who you came from, you can overcome anything and find happiness if you take a chance and let love in. This is her 3rd book and perhaps my favorite so far. I am looking forward to the next one!

ok... i have read both of J L Perry's books before this one... and i love Brooke and Logan's story... but this one... WOW! i think this book shows that J L Perry has come a long way in such a short time, her writing has taken a huge step forward in this book, and it shows, because its so well written.

We first meet Jacinta in My Destiny, so if you want a back story for her you will have to read that book, an intro into her life.

In this story, i think its 7 years on, from My Destiny and My Forever, you find out the life that Jacinta has lead...where she gains a step brother, one she loves dearly, a BFF and then she meets Mason.

i am not going to give much more, cause i dislike spoilers... just read the book, its definitely worth it.

Well done J L Perry. :) definitely worth the five stars!

Holy Effin Hotness. This book will bring out so many emotions. You will laugh, cry, and want to throw punches..Mason Bradley will make you hate him and love him all at the same time. Jacinta grew up watching her father beat her mother. Mason grew up with a father who beat him and his mother. Jacinta and Mason meet for the first time by random accident at the gym, sparks and tempers fly, Mason can't get the woman he calls red out of his mind, so imagine his surprise when he runs into his Red at a club and ends up taking her home. That one night stand turns out to be just what they both need to maybe believe they can seek happiness from the shit lives they have been through. This book will take you on one Hell of a roller coaster ride, So buckle up and roll with it, you'll be glad you did.

This book was WONDERFUL! By far my favorite, but of course have loved the 2 preceding books! Jacinta's and Mason's relationship is completely magical. I was in tears on more than one occasion, and loved it! It is rare to find a book that can make you feel so many emotions, and this book did it. I absolutely fell in love with Blake and his beautiful personality, and loved the relationship he built with Jacinta. It was a beautiful story, and makes you realize that you are able to overcome a sorted past with the right help and love of friends and family.

J. L. Perry's writing is just down right emotional. I could feel every emotion of every character. Jacinta grew up with a monster, her Dad. Now that she and her Mother have survived, she lives a life with routine, walls that keep people at a distance. Then she meets him, Mason, and her world is turned upside down. She is at a loss trying to deal with all the chaos Mason has brought into her life. How can she let herself be vulnerable when it's not safe for her sanity? I give this a 4 star rating.

WOW! What an amazing book. This is the third book in 'The Forever' series. It tells of Jacinta's life, what she went through with her father and her trials and tribulations trying to conquer her fear of letting love in. This is another emotional book full of love. Jodi is an amazing author who has improved with each book. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance because that is what you get in bucket loads

★✩★✩★ 5- Broken, Damaged, and Stubborn -Stars
~this review may contain minor spoilers~

I would lie in bed for hours trying to convince myself that part of my life was over and I'm safe and free of him. Well, free of him physically anyway. Sometimes, I think I'll never be free of him mentally. I'm afraid he will always haunt my mind and my dreams. Do the scars run too deep for it to ever stop?

Jacinta and Mason both come from some pretty messed up childhoods which has made them the jaded, guarded adults they are today. Jacinta is a 20 year old virgin with severe trust issues, a general dislike of the male species, and suffers horrific nightmares causing her to not open herself up to new people. Mason is a man whore. He likes sex, lots of it, with many women, sometimes at the same time ~ he doesn't do relationships, just sex. A one-night-stand and a mission to lose the ever problematic v card brings them together, but it doesn't take them long to realize it was so much more than that which leaves Jacinta running scared; but Mason will not let her go so easily. When fate brings them back into each others lives, he decides he doesn't want to let her go; he will do whatever it takes to keep her in his life, no matter how much she fights him on it. A damaged past draws them together, but can two broken people help heal each other or do the scars run too deep?

I'm not going to give up. There's something between us. Something I can't explain, bit it's there. She may deny it, but I know she feels it too. I can tell. If she's not prepared to fight for us, well you can be sure as shit that am. I'm not giving up on us.
Ever!

I didn't read the previous books in this series but I never once felt like I was missing out on some important information, it truly reads as a standalone but that doesn't mean that I am any less curious about Brooke's story. As my first experience with this author, it was an amazing journey full of angst, tears, some fear, laughs, a whole lotta lust and a generous dash of frustration ~ Jacinta truly tested my patience. I understood why she felt the way she did, and thought the way she did, but damn that girl was stubborn. Mason was no angel either, he was sweet, dirty, and commanding, but his temper and pride got the best of him sometimes and caused unnecessary problems. With that said, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. It really was one helluva ride revolving around a love strong enough to weather any storm, heal any wounds, and change lives. Beautiful, steamy, heartfelt, and emotional with a cast of characters you will fall head over heels in love with.

Once upon a time, the thought of ever getting this close to a woman scared the shit out of me. It wasn't even an option I ever really considered. With her, I want it all-fuck, I want her forever, and all that sappy shit that comes along with it. She really has turned me into a love-sick pussy.

Happy Reading xo Jenn <3

I've never read anything by J.L. Perry before this book so I was little apprehensive knowing it was not the first book in a series. I shouldn't have been worried, because it was a true stand alone. I felt such a range of emotions while I read this book. I have some personal experience with domestic abuse so this book was really close to home.

There were some moments that were tough for me to read, especially the prologue. I like how this book focused more on the lasting affects of physical abuse. They are very real and shouldn't be overlooked. I liked how Jacinta was honest about her fears and feelings. The chemistry she and Mason had was really hot. I liked how kind Jacinta was to Blake, Mason's son. He was just adorable. I especially loved how Connor was with Jacinta. Everyone needs a sibling or someone to love them like that.

I liked how I wasn't able to put this book down. It deals with a very real topic that is both hard to write about and read. I think J.L. Perry did a great job with it. I'm going to be looking into her back list very soon, so I can read her books and get current with the series.

This maybe J.L Perry's best book yet! I couldn't get enough. We meet Jacinta in the second book. I was so excited for her to get her own book. This series is truly a great read. I loved Mason. I can't point out one particular thing, I loved everything about him. He and Jacinta have past that leave their marks. It was a great read.

I loved the story line. There was a twist in there I didn't expect. I always love when we get to see characters from the older books in the series. Brooke and Logan are two of my favorite characters. I can't wait to see where this series goes. I hope to see more out of Cass and Conner. I want their stories too.

Damaged - Jacintas story. By j l Perry. 29th out. Author groupies

I havnt read any of the other books in the series by J L Perry, but was told I could read it as a stand alone as its a story of Jacinta life. I know Jacinta had been introduced in book 2 of the series, and this book is book 3. I'm guessing Jacinta wasn't a main character in book2, so that's why you can read this as a stand alone. I'm assuming from not reading book 2 I'm missing out of pieces that I may need to know. I didn't have time to read the first 2 books in the series, " My Destiny" ( Destiny #1) and " My Forever" ( (Destiny #2) but now I've read Jacinta's story I will be going to make sure I read the first 2 books ASAP.
Jacinta's story is her telling you about everything she went through with her father, all her trials and tribulations and her trying to conquer her fear of letting love in her life.
Jacinta meets Mason after her friend convinces her to lose her virginity by having a one night stand. Mason is the man that Jacinta does this with. However the next day Jacinta is suprised how upset that it has made her that she will never see Mason again. However in her mind, she thinks she to damaged and beyond repair to have a relation with Mason or anybody.
Unbeknown to her, Madon felt a connection with "the girl he had a one night stand with" but doesn't even know her name or anything about her. However fate steps in one day and their paths cross once more. Will they still have the same connection and are they both ready and over all their issues to move on together to try and build a relationship?
Mason came across in the book as a player, someone who can do anything he puts his mind to and somebody should can get any girl he wants. However straight away you can tell this is just a front he puts on. You know his life isn't straight forward, and the women is a cover to hide he's problems in his life.
Both characters have suffered abuse throughout their lives. Mason left home in his early teens to get away from his "dad" who was a abuser. So for both characters to find each other when they've both been through so much similar things in their lives. To me it was fate from the beginning. It was fate that Jacinta choose Mason to take her virginity, fate that even though it was a one night stand they both felt a connection, fate that their lives were so similar and both struggling from distrust, abuse etc, and fate that even though it was a one night stand they ended up bumping in to each other after they both wanted more than a one night stand.
The story was very magical. It will bring out a lot of emotions whilst your reading. One minute your laughing and the next crying. I fell in love with both the characters. They both have have had a hard life.
I wish I had read book 1 and 2 before this book, esp book 2 as that's apparently where Jacintas character is introduced. I think if I had read the other books first I'd of enjoyed the book more and had a bit more of an idea of what was going on. That is however my fault and I wouldn't rate the book down because if that. I will be reading the first 2 books immediately and I'm sure then I'll understand "a Damaged" so much more.
Having never read a book by J.L Perry I didn't know what to expect, but her writing style was amazing. I understood the pain of both characters, and also enjoyed how perfectly the story flowed brilliantly. If her other 2 books are wrote as beautifully as this book then I'll be very happy.

Jacinta vows to never have a boyfriend or fall in love after growing up with a violent father.
The only male she has ever trusted since then is her stepbrother Conner and her stepfather to some degree, who has helped comfort her throughout her nightmares of her mother being physically abused by her father. Being a virgin at nearly 21 years old, Jacinta's friend Cassie decides that Jacinta WILL have lose her virginity by her 21st birthday. Cassie tells her that a one-night stand is the best way to do it since she will not have to see that person again.

However when they go out for a night at the club, they bump into a man who the fits the bill for her one night stand. Unbeknownst to them, he is Conner’s friend Mason. Jacinta goes with Mason back to his house where she accidentally lets it slip she is a virgin. Although he refuses at first, they both end up in bed with each other. Jacinta realizes who Mason is after he turns up at her door to see Conner. Jacinta tells Mason that they can never be more than friends because she cannot trust any man not to be violent. Mason tells her that he would wait forever for her because that night they shared together meant more to him than he ever thought it would.

Will Mason manage to convince Jacinta he is not violent?? Will Jaz ever realize that she can trust men not to be all violent and let herself fall in love?? Will they ever get the answers they want about their childhood??
*WOW WOW WOW!!!!
This is a seriously amazing book by a VERY TALENTED author. J. L. Perry did an amazing job of writing about such a sensitive subject of domestic violence. From the very first page, I was hooked and did not want to put it down. The story takes you on a roller coaster of emotions right from the very beginning. The story had me crying, smiling, and laughing at different points. I will admit I cried though the most.

I loved Mason not only had he had a horrible upbringing, but the fact that he didn’t let his past shape his future. Also, the fact that he NEVER gave up on Jacinta even when she kept telling him to go and leave her alone. He never gave up and he would not let her give up on herself either. He showed her not all men are the same.

I felt so sorry for Jaz having an abusive father and having to see all the damage he inflicted on her mother. I understand why she thought she couldn't trust men but at times I did want to reach inside the book and give her a shake and tell her Mason was different and clearly loved her and wouldn't hurt her. That being said though I am pleased that she let her walls down a bit to see what he was like and she clearly loved him from the start but just wouldn’t admit to it to herself.
Although this book does contain some characters from The Destiny Series books, it is not essential to read these first. This is a standalone.

I loved this book and would highly recommend it to others! WARNING HAVE TISSUES AT THE READY THIS BOOK IS SO EMOTIONAL!!

Jacinta’s story is one that starts with a hard childhood, until she was lucky enough to have dance class and Brooke come into her life. As we learned in the first two books, Brooke and Logan play a big role in the life of Jacinta and her mom helping them when they needed it the most.

This book takes place seven years later; Jacinta is a 20 year old virgin that still lives in a place of fear of men and relationships. She has her good friend Cass and her (step) brother Connor that she is really close to in her life. Connor has become her rock throughout her life since her mom married his dad. So when she had the opportunity to move to Sydney with her brother she took it.

Cass was a wild party girl that lives a life the exact opposite of Jacinta when it comes to sex. But Jacinta finally gives in to Cass’s idea of finding the perfect man for a one night stand on her 21st birthday. This one night stand has the potential to turn into more than either party knew do to an unknown connection that Jacinta and her mystery man have.

Mason is a single dad trying to do what is right for himself and his son. He had no idea that his one night stand would leave him distraught and upset, she was gone the morning after and he didn’t even know her name. He didn’t do relationships, so he couldn’t understand why he couldn’t get this girl ‘Red’ out of his mind.

Fate would step in and lead Jacinta and Mason in a path that would bring them together again. What they do with their second chance takes us on a wild ride through the book.

I loved this book. Jacinta’s story is one of extreme heartache and tragedy, but with the potential to find the happy ever after if she is able to leave the past in the past and look forward to a new and bright future. The connection that Jacinta and Mason have from their first meeting is magical, amazing and HOT!!!! The twist of having Mason and Connor being friends was great, it added just a little bit more to the drama and over all connection of the group.

This book had me on pins and needles, there are many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. I have to say Cass’s parents are true scum of the earth. Mason’s son Blake is adorable. He added pieces to the book that made you smile but also had the ability to break your heart as well.

Blake quote, “Jazzi, I think I have loved you since the first day I met you, when you made me chocolate chip cookies and beat me on the X-box.”

I definitely had times I needed my tissues not only for tragedies but also for happy moments. I loved every minute of this book and I hope that it is not the last that we will be seeing of this group, but if it is J.L Perry did an excellent job in writing a series of books that captures your heart and makes you believe that there can be happiness after tragedy.

WOW--OMG-- This story is about Healing and Love,,and the perception that people have of themselves, Jacinta - AKA- Jaz or Jazzi was introduced to us as a child of 13 whom Brooke helped with Logan to get her and her mom away from Jacinta's abusive father whom almost killed her mother after a very severe beating, Logan arranged for her mother to get divorce,a job in one of his company branches and moved them far away from their original home. There her mom fell in love and remarried a wonderful man with a son older than Jaz. Her story picks up at Jaz is getting ready to turn 21.. with her stepbrother Connor, and best friend Cass..Jaz moves back to her home town to live in an apartment her parents rented for her and her "brother" Connor (she feels like he is a brother not a step brother). Jaz is doing well with the exception of still having nightmares of her "birth father" beating her mother..these come at times of stress and sometimes when everything is ok..lucky for Jaz..Connor has been a very supportive and helpful brother during these nightmares.
On her first day at the apartment Jaz drops her brother off at his gym to work out and is supposed to wait for his call to pick him back up..when she notices he forgot his phone. so she grabs the phone and steps out into the pouring rain , drawing up her red hoodie over her head to protect her from the rain and hurries toward the gym. Damaged- Jacinta's story is the third book written by Jodi Perry and flipping heck it's her best !!!

You meet Jacinta briefly in My Forever (#2) but you know that there's more to this troubled young girl . We catch up with Jacinta just before her 21st birthday when she moves in with her big brother Connor . Connor accidentally leaves his phone in her car , knowing that she has to call him later try's to hand the phone back . Not looking where she's going bumps into Mason coming the other way . Tempers flair which makes Mason laugh and Jacinta see's red and from that moment on sparks fly.

Jacinta living through her childhood with a cruel father has grown up with a defence mechanism of not having boyfriends , not trusting men at all apart from her step dad and brother . Learning to cope with emotions and trusting men is something she's just not used too . Meeting Mason has opened up a floodgate of feelings and emotions that she needs to get her head round to move on in her life . She's a strong feisty little spitfire but doesn't realise it .

Mason also with a damaged childhood doesn't rate women very well apart from how good they are in bed until he meets Red ! Feelings and emotions he swore he'd never have start to emerge and starts to realise that there's more to life than a quick lay !

After reading My Destiny and My Forever I had grown to love the main character's Logan and Brooke so I thought reading this book was going to be a struggle as they are not in this as often as I would of liked but after the first chapter you realise that you don't need them to be here throughout the book because you've already fallen in love with Jacinta and Mason , your too busy finding what happens next !!

As always Jodi has put her heart and sole into this story and you yourself go through every emotion known to man !! Jodi has such a talent and is an exceptional writer with a passion that's unstoppable. I would be lying if I said i didn't cry through this story and yes there were times when I ugly cried which ended up with me having snot bubbles ! Yes disgusting I know !!

I can not wait to read Jodi's next book , just wish I haven't got to wait to long . I can not recommend this highly enough. It was a pleasure to read, snot bubbles and all .

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I have not read books 1 and 2, Brooke and Logan's story but was told that this book could be read as a standalone. The 2 main characters in this story have led extremely sad and difficult childhoods. Both coming from abusive households, they both have suffered at the hands of their fathers and suffer for it into adulthood. They meet not knowing that he is her step-brothers best friend and not knowing she is his best friends step-sister. After spending the night with him, she sneaks out expecting to never see him again, until her step-brother, Connor, invites him to meet them at a club. Both of them are shocked to discover the identity of each other. But needless to say their fall in love but they still struggle with demons from their past. I think the author did an amazing job acquainting us with the background and lives of all the characters in the book, even though they were actually first introduced in book 2. I feel that I had a great grasp at their lives and pasts. The story line was amazing and it flowed very well. Not once was I ever confused or feel like anything about it was lacking. I most definitely will be going back to read books 1 and 2 and read about Brooke and Logan's life, and will also continue to book 4. In my opinion as a reader, if a book can make me cry, laugh, curse and feel happy all from cover to cover, then that is the sign of a 5 star read! And this book did all of that and more! It made me sad, it made me mad, it made me laugh and it made me cry, but not once did it ever lose my interest nor did I ever get bored. So if these are the things you also enjoy in a book along with lots of steamy hot sex scenes, well then this is a book you should read. If you are someone that cannot tolerate stories of people that suffer from a past with physical abuse then this may not be for you as it may trigger memories you don't want. But this is definitely a book I am honored to have read.

I truly love this book. It is full of love, heartache and heat. Damaged is so beautifully written. Jacinta and Mason and all the supporting characters are very remarkable and well-developed. My heart broke for Mason, Jacinta and Blake at what they had to endure in their childhood.

Damaged started with a flashback of Jacinta and her mother’s life seven years ago. Both were horribly abused by Jacinta’s father. Thankfully they were rescued by Brooke and Logan. Jacinta’s mother remarried and Jacinta gained a stepbrother. Connor is unbelievably sweet and protective. After graduating university with a degree in child physiology Jacinta moves in with her brother in Sydney.

That’s when Mason and Jacinta bump into each other in front of a gym. They have no idea who the other person is. Jacinta’s best friend Cassie talks her into a night out and persuades her to finally lose her virginity. As fate decides Jacinta and Mason meet at the club again. One night, no strings attached, or so they think – little do they know that they have one important person in common, Connor, Jacinta’s stepbrother and Mason’s best friend. That’s when the story really starts and the emotional rollercoaster begins. Mason is so extremely hot, caring and lovable but he too was damaged by his abusive father. He also has a son, Blake who he’d just recently met. Blake was abused by his mother until he came to live with Mason. He is such a sweet and adorable boy. Three damaged but beautiful souls waiting for to healing each other.

I highly recommend Damaged by J.L. Perry to everyone who wants to read a beautifully written love story with lots of emotions and heat. This story is the third book in this series but can be read as a stand-alone. I haven’t read the first two books yet but I will definitely read Brooke and Logan’s story as well.

Unbelievably beautiful, J.L. Perry!!!

Jacinta has sworn off all men but when she runs into Mason, her plans go astray. Initially, they only know each other as Red and Wolf, and it truly is like Little Red Riding Hood, where the Wolf tries to get Red.

After their initial encounter things get interesting between Jazi and Mason. The spark and fire is there, and it's burning fiercely. Jazi tries her best to avoid Mason because she is afraid to give any man that much power over her, and she has vowed never to let anyone close to her heart.

Mason goes above and beyond to win Jazi and prove to her that he will NEVER EVER hurt her. For that, he enlists the help of his son, Blake, and let me say, I fell in love with Blake.

The story between Mason and Jacinta was emotionally beautiful to read; I felt their emotions as they were feeling them and could not let go. I was so lost in their story – especially when they both finally opened up and shared their pasts – that I had to put my tablet down and compose myself.

Even though Damaged has a lot of emotion, it also has a lot of sexiness, and damn, it was just perfect!! I will definitely be re-reading this amazing story! ~ Kara, 5 Delicious Hot Stars

I was given this book for an honest review

4 stars.

This is such an emotional roller coaster that it kept so wrapped up in the characters that you didn't want it to end. Let's start with jaz. She has had such a rough childhood that she has lost all faith in men. The abuse she and her mom had gone through was so saddening. Jaz is such a strong woman. And she doesn't realize it. I love how the has had her grow throughout the book, you see the girl she was to the woman she becomes. The author did a fantastic job with that. Mason was your typical man @@@@@@ at the beginning, but with what happens within his life, the author let's him grow into a absolutely wonderful man. What these two had to endure during their lives it is incredible that they found each other. I love how their lives intertwine without them knowing it at the beginning and how it wasn't perfect so they had o work at their relationship. Blake has to be one of the sweetest kids that you will read about in a book. He has real feelings and he just is not a fill in character for a book. He has been through so much that it tugs at the heartstrings.

I love what this author did with this book and can't wait to read something else from her. Sent from my NOOK

I really loved this book. I was just finishing the second book of this series & really got attached to Logan and Brooke. I wasn't sure how I would feel going into Jacinta's story, but I loved it the moment I started it.
I couldn't put it down. This book is even more steamy then the last her stories just get better & better!
You really fall in love with all the characters especially Mason! He is just as "damaged" as Jacinta & together they can help eachother.
I like that Mason has something that most lead male characters don't have and it just makes him that much sexier and real.
There is a lot of emotions and it's written so well you find yourself feeling the emotions of the characters w/ them.
I was getting angry w/ Jacinta and felt bad for Mason, but in my opinion, that's how you know it's a really good well written story when you find yourself developing certain feelings towards the characters even if, at times, they piss you off.
I would love to read more about these two.
I also liked that Brooke and Logan appear in their story as well.
I'm most definitely looking forward to reading more from this Author.

Damaged - Jacinta's Story by Jodi Perry

This book was reviewed by me for CLiK Book Blog.

I was totally caught off guard by this book. Jodi Perry has surprised me with this emotion charged story of love and loss, family dysfunction and sadly, domestic violence, Although, the domestic violence angle is handled very sensitively by Jodi Perry.

The story focuses on Jacinta, Mason and his young son Blake.
These characters each share a common thread throughout the story, one of difficult upbringings, terrible childhoods and broken dreams.

They're bond is forged with the help of love from great friends and family and some romantic persistence from Mason in his pursuit of Jacinta.

The supporting characters including Jacinta's brother Connor and her very best friend and crazy sidekick, Cassie add to the fun but also help to build a strong foundation for this very real story.

With a HEA, I'd recommend this book to any romance reader who likes their men strong but with a heart of gold and their women sweet and soft with a fiery, sassy side.

Part of a series but able yo be read as a standalone story.

I was gifted this for an honest review by author J.L. Perry. This book is part of the Destiny series by the author but it is also a standalone book.

Jacinta grew up with abuse at the hands of her father and now that she is an adult her past haunts her and she thinks that all men are violent. She ends up having a 1 night stand with Mason but knows they can not be anything more then friends. Mason is a player and relationships are totally not for him. When he has a 1 night stand with a woman he starts to rethink his decision. Some how they meet again but Jacinta does not know if she can trust him not to.

The character of Jacinta was so real and some parts I felt sorry for what she had to deal with. The characters in this book worked well together. The author wrote the story line with style and it was very smooth to read.

This book is for mature book readers because of the sexual content in the story.

I have not read the first two in the Destiny series. It did not effect my enjoyment of this book.

Jacinta "Jazzi" is a young lady from an abusive childhood. She obviously has issues with men and relationships in general. When her mother remarries a great man she is lucky enough to get an awesome step-brother Connor.

Connor moved to Syndey when he graduated college and now Jazzi is going to join him. Her girlfriend talks her into a night out and scoping for a man to lose the V card. Jazzi finds the man for the job and never thinks she will see him again. Unbeknownst to her, Mason was her brother's best friend.

Mason is awesome. He is good looking, patient and oh so hot. The sexy time in this book and his dirty mouth are smoking!

Blake is an adorable character and added so much to this story.
