Note: This is a review of the audiobook version

In the rink of love one misstep can cost you everything...

Courtney and Josh are by far one of NA's most adorable couples. I fell in love with them immediately in Crossing The Ice (Book 1) and with the amazing Emily Stokes.

I cannot describe how thrilled I was when I discovered Emily would be narrating Losing the Ice! She has such a gift for taking on the characters and their different voices, whether male or female. I've never enjoyed an audiobook more than when Emily has narrated it - there's something about her voice and the way she reads that makes it such an immersive experience. You feel like you're there, in Jennifer Comeaux's thrilling world of skating, budding romance, and competitive drive.

I can't exactly put up a fave quote - seeing as my review copy was an audiobook! - but if you'd like to hear an audio sample of the book, you can do so over on its Audible page.

The most intriguing part of Losing the Ice, for me, was seeing Courtney and Josh is a whole new way. Whereas Book 1 focused on them as individuals - both in separate teams - and on them finding their way to one another, Book 2 focuses more on them as a team. It gives readers a look into the difficulties of being a team on and off the ice, and how hard it is to balance the need to win with the need to be with the person you love.

Will Courtney and Josh make it work? Will they be a dream team on and off the ice? Read and/or listen to Losing the Ice to find out!

My Thoughts Losing the Ice is the second book in the New Adult Ice Series. The Ice series is a contemporary romance series centering around ice skating pairs. You should read the first book, Crossing the Ice, before you read Losing the Ice as they both feature the same couple. Courtney and Josh. Crossing the Ice was one of my favorite books of 2014 so I feel confidant recommending it to fans of contemporary romance and ice skating everywhere. I love Jennifer Comeaux's writing. If you remember the first book, Courtney and Josh each had a different pairs skater so they never really got to skate with one another much.

In Losing the Ice they are finally paired up together and I was super excited to see them skating together. And don't worry the skating is every bit as vivid and great as it was in the first book. But the tone of Losing the Ice was much more somber than Crossing the Ice. Something bad happens with Josh pretty early on in the book and I was completely devastated. The remainder of the book centers around this one event and its' consequences. I am really hoping that there is another book in the series and that the next one is a little more happy go lucky. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the way everything panned out in this one, but it felt kind of on the shorter end and kind of sad a lot of the time. And well, I love Courtney and Josh so much that I just want the best for them.

I also hope in the next book someone just slaps Josh's mom into behaving properly. That lady really bugs me. Let's focus on the positive things in Losing the Ice. The writing is great, the characters have still completely stolen my heart, and I even grew to like someone that I didn't in the first book, which is always exciting for me. I also admired how solid Courtney and Josh seemed with each other. Their relationship is great, and they are both so supportive. It is admirable. Losing the Ice is a good continuation of the Ice series. I am ready for the next book please!

I always have so much fun when I revisit this world Jennifer has created. In Losing the Ice, Courtney and Josh are getting ready for their first competition and I thought she did such a good job of capturing how nervous and excited they were and how big a step was for them to start skating together after having had different partners most of their lives.

I liked that and that the author didn't gloss over how hard it for Court and Josh to adapt to each other, and how their love and trust was shaken with the accident - not because it wasn't there but because it was a difficult time and their relationship (on and off the ice) new in many ways.

Also liked seeing Josh's sister again and see her develop as a character a bit more. She might not be happy with all of Josh choices, but she wants him to be happy and she proves that.

All in all I thought it was a good transition between the previous book and what comes next. And it was also fun to catch up with Sergei, Em and their family. I really love that Liza and Courtney are friends and that they support each other, even if Liza wasn't in this book all that much. The twins were super adorbs as usual.

Favorite Quotes (our of order to avoid spoilers):
He smiled and wrapped one arm around me. “This day is my favorite everything.”

“If you weren’t strong, you wouldn’t be here right now, about to compete two months after a terrifying injury. A lot of people wouldn’t come back from that.” I turned his face toward me. “I believe in you, and I believe in us.”
He gazed at me a long minute. “I just want to be the partner you deserve. The man you deserve.”

“This don’t look like Mommy’s mac and cheese,” she said. That’s because Mommy is a gourmet cook who makes the pasta from scratch and grates the cheese herself.
“It’s different, but it’s still yummy,” I said.
She wrinkled her nose and peered closer at the bowl. “Why it orange?”

(4.5 Stars) I love the world of ice skating. I must admit that I don't always get as involved in it as I could when it's not the Olympics, but if I happen to see it on tv, I'm completely captivated. I love the way Ms. Comeaux really digs behind the scenes to the blood, sweat, and tears of the sport and brings the reader along with her. You can see my review of the first book here. You definitely want to start with Book 1.

Courtney and Josh have had a rough go of their partnership and don't have all of the support they desire--especially from his family. They want to show them that this partnership is a great idea, but an accident changes all that in an instant.

Courtney is so patient and supportive! I honestly don't know if I could've put up with Josh as well as she does. I love the way her feelings are conveyed so well through the writing of this story. Josh was devastated with this change of events and his personality changed so much that it was almost shocking. My heart broke at what he went through, but at times I felt like enough was enough. He handled things the best he could, so I couldn't fault him with that, and again, the writing was done in a very nice way to really help the reader understand what was going on--not only on the surface, but deep down.

I'm really looking forward to the next book, Taking the Ice, that will be released soon.

Content: mild-moderate romance (kissing and vague talk of taking things further; technically clean, as events are completely behind closed doors); mild language (some swearing); a disturbing accident, but nothing graphic. Clean!

Big thanks to Jennifer for an ARC copy for review.

What another great installment in the Ice series. Just like her other books before, this one has plenty of ice skating, intense moments, uncertainty, and sweet romance. I loved this continuation of Courtney and Josh's story. I really adore the relationship between Josh and Courtney. These two have complete faith in each other, share such a close bond, always have one another's best interests at heart, and are very much in love.

"Okay...just one more thing." His face grew serious, and he locked our fingers together. "I love you...so much... and I promise I'll be back on the ice with you soon."
I caressed his cheek and ran my hand down to his chest, stopping on his heart. "I love you, too, and there's no rush."
He pulled me close and I rested my head on his shoulder. My lips brushed his neck with a sweet kiss.
"I'll wait for you as long as you need." ~ Courtney and Josh

That couple is just cute together. Now When it comes to the not so wonderful, that would be Josh's mother. Agh! I wanted to utterly slap the woman into next Tuesday. His sister still got on my nerves some, but by the end she wasn't as bad. Of course I love seeing Emily, Sergei, Quinn and Alex. I just love that little family. The ending left me feeling happy and hopeful for Courtney and Josh.

Well apparently I’m binge reading this series!!!

God the ANGST of this second book HURT ME. I just want Court and Josh to be happy.

Great depiction of anxiety— as someone who suffers from panic attacks, it spoke to me a lot.

At least this volume was short so the pain was quick as well: now onto book 3 because I’m obsessed!

Love through adversity

I really enjoyed Losing the Ice the 2nd book in the Ice Series. We got a chanxe to learn more about Courtney and Josh. Seeing them go through adversity on a very real subject was heart wrenching, but I never stopped routing for them.

I think the characters flowed together so well in this book. The had more depth and you could really start to feel their love become more of a permanent fixture.

Josh and Courtney are about to embark on the journey of a lifetime. Not many skaters get to skate with their one true love. But these two are making it happen. They have the support of friends and family behind them. Just not Josh's family. Then tragedy strikes and their dreams of skating together may cease before it ever got a chance to take off. Will their love be enough to make it back on the ice?

Josh and Courtney are some amazing characters that have been through a lot and still have hurdles to overcome. But when they are together you can feel the love they have for one another. As they face the unthinkable in this book, we see a side of Josh we haven't seen before. His confidence is threatened and Courtney has to step up her game when dealing with him. The reader will hurt for them both as they sort through their feelings and try to come out of the rubble left over from the accident. Tensions are flaring and at times their future seems bleak, but Comeaux is a master with her words at telling a story full of romance and anxiety.

Any time I crack open on of Comeaux's books I am immediately immersed into her world of figure skating. This is the author that brought on a love for the sport in me. She has you believing you are the one living the story and out on that ice...spinning, lifting, and twirling. It really is a magical experience to read one of her book and live them in your head. 5 Stars!

Audiobook

Narration - Emily Stokes - really good! She's the perfect voice for Josh and Courtney. Several wonderful character voices and a great storyteller!

This is a darker look at the psychology of sport. Muscle memory is such an important part of all athletics, but this portrays the absolute truth that the mind is really in control.

Josh and Courtney are skating and finally competing together, but a major slip up puts their future at risk. Both of them are tested to the limits of their patience, their confidence is obliterated and they have to try everything to make it back to their former selves as a couple, as individuals and as a team.

I've always been annoyed by athletes that stand on the podium and pout because they got second, or third. Well, there's a bazillion others who would be thrilled to be where you're standing! Yes, your goal was gold, but wow! Look what you did and represent those that would give anything to be where you are! (OK, off my soap box)

This book celebrates all accomplishments as if they were gold medals and celebrates the joy of every little success amidst a ton of trials and tribulations.
Josh and Courtney really have to fight their way through this (and even get some help from the last person you'd expect).

Great story! Great series!

I'm so lucky to have received Losing the Ice. The thing is, I absolutely adored Crossing the Ice and those six months were way to long to wait for th sequel. So getting it early was not only a pleasure but also a relief.

First off, Josh and Courtney were adorable as ever. It's hard to tell any more than that without spoilers, but I can disclose this much; their relationship changed. A lot. And it's not necessarily in an easy or positive way. However, in the end I was more than satisfied with how the difficulties morphed their romance into something more and, of course, the fluffiness just made. Me. Swooon.

The story was also exciting. Many bumps along the way and Ms Comeaux always sets the pacing so well. Both Crossing the Ice and Losing the Ice were unputdownable. Although, I did have one issue with Losing the Ice. While it was a great story, it felt more like a prequel. It was rather short and more or less revolving around the one main thread.

All in all, Losing the Ice didn't disappoint me. While I wish it had been a tad longer, I can't wait for the third book to come out. (Do we even have a title yet??)

Courtney and Josh are partners, both on and off the ice. After a shaky start, the pair are finally ready to compete at the elite level. Will a horrific accident crush their competitive dreams and threaten their personal relationship as well?

Romance books usually make it easy for the main characters to be together, often falling in love at the drop of a hat and having no real problems. Author Jennifer Comeaux takes a more realistic approach, which I find refreshing. In reality, relationships are tough and take work to maintain. The frustrations of dealing with an injury, coupled with failed expectations, are clearly felt. With less of a focus on skating than the first book, the author is able to grow her characters more in other areas. I like how the author evolves Stephanie's character, as her humanity shows through. As this is a direct sequel to Crossing the Ice, I would recommend listening to Losing the Ice after the first book.

Thank you to author Jennifer Comeaux for giving me an Audible audio copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review.

Losing the Ice jumps right into the action. It's been a few months since the end of Crossing the Ice, and Josh and Courtney are at their first big skating competition as a new pair. Courtney and Josh are an amazing couple, and even though their love and partnership is put to the test, I never once worried it wouldn't work out. Jennifer has created such a strong, loving bond between the two that nothing could break them up.

Even dealing with his injury, Josh is still a hunky, swoon inducing lead. Courtney handles everything in stride, including Josh's horrible family, while still being her sassy self! Surprisingly, by the end of the book I was hating Stephanie (Josh's sister) much less. Turns out the witch has a heart after all!

My only complaint was that Losing the Ice ended so quickly - I think I read it in one sitting! But no worries because Jennifer has already started on the next book in Josh and Courtney's series!

After eagerly - and quickly - reading the first instalment of this series, I read Losing The Ice by Jennifer Comeaux with the same enthusiasm. I’ll be going through the pros and cons of this book, and much like the first, there aren’t many cons! Some spoilers ahead, you’ve been warned.

Pros of Losing The Ice by Jennifer Comeaux
The Drama
I’m such a sucker for drama, and this book had its fair share. I found myself holding my breath for the characters right from the beginning of the book when Josh and Courtney are met with an unmentionable situation. The anticipation followed me through the rest of the story, that’s for sure. Comeaux really captured the feeling of both parties' frustration and anxiety, ultimately demonstrating their love for each other despite the circumstances.

A Darker Tone
As bright, light and airy as the first book in the series was, this book definitely took a darker turn. I feel like it was done perfectly without completely compromising the story or the characters, showing the darker side of figure skating and being in a relationship. Life’s not all rainbows and sunshine, and this book took the reader down the dark road that Josh and Courtney found themselves on in the most perfect way.

Josh and Courtney
Given the situation that gave the book a darker tone, it was hard to see Courtney kind of afraid of Josh after such a whirlwind romance they had in the first book. That being said, I loved that they were mature enough to face their problems head on (for the most part) and communicate (again, for the most part) what was bothering them. Courtney’s patience and Josh’s perseverance really went hand in hand.

Stephanie Tucker
Although she was a terror in the first book, she really showed character development in this sequel. She was more supportive of her brother, and surprisingly even civil with Courtney. She isn’t the anti-hero I love to hate anymore, she’s the underdog who realised the error in her ways and tries to come out the other end of the tunnel with more compassion; I love that for her.

Cons of Losing The Ice by Jennifer Comeaux
Josh’s Parents
Holy crap, these are the worst parents in the world. Comeaux did a great job at taking the hate off of Stephanie and putting onto the Tucker parents. They’re distant, unempathetic, rude, and downright the worst parents to Josh and Stephanie. Courtney is snubbed several times - especially the Christmas scene, OMG had my blood boiling - and contains herself for the most part, and I just know if that were me, I’d not be that calm. Josh and his parents are polar opposites (thank God) but what really makes you feel for him is how he knows how insignificant he is to them; no child should feel like that. It does make me feel better for Josh though, that he found a family in Em, Sergei and Courtney.
Again, there wasn’t much I didn’t like about this book and even then, it was more of a “this character/situation made me mad” vibe. It’s a quick yet intense read, and you’ll be glued to the pages for a couple of hours. Compliments to Jennifer Comeaux who, yet again, made a book that's going on my Keeper Shelf. Also, thanks for a copy of the series Jennifer in exchange for an honest review!

A presto,

WOW! I am an even bigger Jennifer Comeaux fan after reading Losing the Ice!! As many of you know, the first book in this series Crossing the Ice was one of my favorite reads of 2014! When I saw that the sequel was coming out, I could not wait to get my hands on it!! Needles to say I was thrilled to take part in the blog tour. The world of Romance and figure skating that Jennifer Comeaux creates is wonderful and a must read for Contemporary lovers!

Originally, I did not realize that Losing the Ice was a novella. The length seemed good though and it seemed to me that Comeaux wrote this book almost as a building bridge to the final book in the series Taking the Ice (no info released on this one yet, besides the title).

Losing the Ice was exactly what I wanted, without being at all what I expected. Comeaux pleasantly surprised me with where she took the story of Courtney and Josh. I cannot say too much without spoiling the plot, but I will say that Courtney and Josh have to work hard, fight for each other and remember why they fell in love in the first place.

The thing I loved most about this book? It felt so real to me, a couple who hits a road block and has to fight for each other. It was absolutely perfect! It felt as though Comeaux took Josh and Courtney, broke them and then put them back together again and it was absolutely beautiful to experience!

I also loved the character growth in this novel, the Courtney and Josh that we meet in Crossing The Ice are still there, but we get to see others sides of them and even a role reversal. The ever optimistic, sweet and kind Josh was there, but seeing that other side to him surprised me and broke my heart. At the same time, I loved seeing Courtney stand up and be the optimistic and supportive one. It gave me a different view of each of them, which only made me love them even more!

Jennifer Comeaux has impressed me once again and she has quickly become one of my must read Authors! I think that Losing the Ice did an amazing job of setting up the next book in this series Taking the Ice… and I literally cannot wait to see where Comeaux takes Josh and Courtney next… I am only hoping that it is to the GOLD!!

Favorite Quotes
He couldn’t go on like this. The longer he was stuck in this dark place, the more I feared he wouldn’t be able to get out.

We seperated for a momentary breath, and I pressed Josh’s hand to my chest. “Do you feel this? This is what I think of you… what I feel for you. Every crazy fast beat of my heart… all for you.”

With him by my side, I had to believe things would be different because there was one thing I knew with absolute certainty – I was wholeheartedly his, and he was undeniably mine, and there was nothing stronger than the love between us.

Losing the Ice is an exceptional novella. Seriously, it’s just so, so good: exactly what I’ve grown to expect from Jennifer Comeaux. Courtney and Josh are interesting, layered characters, and their story is told through clear, engaging writing. Jennifer is perfect at writing both sweet moments for the characters and total crises. She’s a pro at making her readers feel the emotions of her characters. Whenever I pick up a book from her I completely identify with the characters and feel like I’m on the journey along with them, feeling their anguish and their love.

Another thing Jennifer is great at is writing moments on and off the ice that have to do with skating, training, etc. You can tell that the author is a super fan of skating, because all the descriptions of Courtney and Josh’s work feel real. Admittedly I’m not into watching skating, but I love books about any type of sport, and Jennifer’s works always draw me in to the competition and artistry of skating.

This book is a sequel to Crossing the Ice , which is definitely something you should read to get the full picture of the characters and their situation. Here we have Courtney and Josh partnering in skating for the first time, but it's not at all smooth sailing for them. Beyond skating issues and emotional issues which I won’t get into (because reading about them yourself will be so much more fulfilling), Jennifer has done the most amazing job at creating a character you'll positively loathe. All of Josh’s family is pretty terrible, but no one can beat his mom. I already knew that Jennifer was a pro at writing characters you absolutely despise (see: Elena, for most of Edge of the Past ), but Josh’s mom takes the cake, because I can’t find anything redeeming in her. She’s not exactly warm and welcoming to Josh, but she is beyond evil in her dealings with Courtney. As hard as these scenes are to read, I love how they show Josh’s loyalty and how much he’s grown as a character. He stands up for Courtney and he’s strong in his convictions, no longer willing to sit back and let life happen to him.

If you hadn’t already gathered, I absolutely loved this novella, probably even more than the first book in the series. Its short length just made me want more of the characters, so I’m glad that there will be a third book featuring Josh and Courtney. I love these books, just as I loved Jennifer Comeaux’s Edge series. If you haven’t read her amazing novels, I highly recommend you start with Life on the Edge and go from there.

This is Jennifer Comeaux's follow up novella to Crossing the Ice. She continues Josh and Courtney's saga now that they are competing as partners. You get more of her trademark sweet romance with just a bit of angst and tension.

To note, even though this would probably be considered New Adult due to the character's ages, this author writes the clean and sweet variety of NA romance. She also doesn't write NA with the overdone, tired tropes of dark back stories and dealing with heavy issues such as abuse that I'm tired of reading about in NA. Instead she writes books and novellas in the world of Figure skating and her books follow aspects of this world combined with romance.

Jennifer is masterful at writing the skating scenes to where you feel like you are there in person. She neither writes with too much technicality to where I am lost as a novice nor does she gloss over what the skaters are doing on the ice. She really brings these scenes to life and I think this is where her writing stands out from much of the other skating books that I have read.

This is a novella so you get a shorter glimpse into their lives. There is also, necessarily due to the story line, a bit less emphasis on the competitions which I naturally miss. But she does bring a bit of another side to a disliked character from the first book which I was glad to see. I like to see complexity in characters even when they're the perceived "bad" guys. This character's not looking quite as bad now but they also don't receive a personality transplant which is appreciated.

I don't recommend this book as a stand alone. It is best read after the first in the series. The first one could be read as a stand alone as it ended in a HFN. Neither book in the series ends in a cliffhanger and all the major issues from the books are resolved by the end. There is to be one more novella length story to wrap up this couples full journey.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in Jennifer's Ice series, Crossing the Ice, when I read it a couple months ago. I really liked Courtney and Josh's characters and the direction their story had taken, so I was really excited to learn there would be a sequel. The tone of the sequel is a little bit different, but I still enjoyed it. The ending was, of course, the best part though.

This book starts with Courtney and Josh as a happy couple – on and off the ice. They're preparing for their first competition as a couple. They were excited and I was thrilled for them. Unfortunately there was an accident that changed their course a bit. Losing the Ice might not have quite as many of the swoony moments Crossing the Ice did, but there were some great ones still.

I appreciated the strength both characters showed in this book. It seemed like things were coming at them from all angles, trying to tear them apart, but they were stronger than that. What they had was too important to be torn apart. They're still young and make mistakes, but it was how they pulled it together and moved forward that made this book for me.

Losing the Ice was a super quick read that packed a bit of an emotional punch. It was a bit on the angsty side, but not overly so. There were some great little swoony moments as things calmed down for this couple and I just couldn't stop cheering them on. You know who else I cheered on during this book? Josh's sister Stephanie. I know. I'm as shocked as you are. I'm pleased to see how her character has grown. Before this book I wouldn't have considered reading a book about her. Now I'm really hoping one is in the works.

The release for Ms. Comeaux's books always leaves me excited. I love the world of figure skating in books (and I love watching it too, although I don't get to as much as I would like to). It is fun to see into the world of skating and especially the world of pairs skating and the relationships between skaters.

I left the first book in this series wanting more. I wanted so much more and I got it in a little short story that was posted on Facebook. It wasn't enough, so I was anxiously waiting for the release of this book.

This book picks up right where the last book left off. It brings you right into the story of Courtney and Josh. It is fantastic. The plot line is well developed and you see more development and insight into the two characters, specifically Josh. I adore the way the hero's are written in these books. I love them and they are completely yummy and swoon-worthy (even with the issues in this one). I won't go into any details, because honestly talking too much about this book will give a lot away in what occurs. I will say this, the love story doesn't disappoint. It is rock solid and steady just like Ms. Comeaux first series.

The only reason this book didn't get a 5 star rating is this book spends a lot more time on the issues at play (oh, keeping the plot line out of this review is hard), and not so much on the competing and skate events. You do get a little of that, I won't lie, but not to the extent I have read in her other books. I understand it, there was a lot happening in this story, but I really enjoy the back side of the skating world and seeing how that plays out.

I really love Josh and Courtney and it is always fun to read about the familiar faces of Emily, Sergei, the twins, and Liza. I know this book is about Courtney, but I can't wait to see if Liza gets her own book.

4.5 stars!

I've been looking forward to reading this book for quite some time. Josh and Courtney have had some struggles, both personal and professional, and I was hoping they'd have an easier time of it. However, I should've known it wouldn't be so simple, but that they'd find a way to get through new challenges.

Somethings haven't changed. I still detest Josh's parents. They still haven't cottoned onto the fact their son is happy doing what he does and that doesn't make him a lesser man. Even if they don't like Courtney that still don't have the politeness to be courteous to her. That makes my blood boil. Stephanie, Josh's sister was one of the biggest surprises in this book. I didn't like her at all in Crossing the Ice, but I was surprised by my thaw towards her. I guess it took seeing that she loved her brother, and how much, for that to happen.

I was really impressed with the way Courtney handled the situation with Josh. Even though they're both competitive, Courtney really put Josh and his needs first. It was all about being supportive and caring even when it wasn't wanted or appreciated. I loved that. It was really thoughtful and mature of her. It also added another level of depth to the story.

This second part isn't very long, but it certainly didn't feel that way. I finished the story feeling a sense of completeness. I would love to read more about Courtney and Josh and their search for Olympic gold, but I'd also love for them to be happy for a little while before more challenges appear. Either way, I look forward to reading whatever Jennifer writes next. I know it'll be exciting, entertaining, gripping, and heartfelt.

*This is a review for the audiobook*

Note: This review contains NO spoilers

Courtney and Josh's romance continues, and this time, they will be competing together. In this second book in the Ice series, the story focuses on on them as a couple and the obstacles they face on and off the ice. Emily Stokes does an amazing job...again...narrating their story. Her animated reading brought these characters to life, so full of emotion and personality.

Their first "slip" puts their relationship to the test if their love is enough to overcome these obstacle(s). In addition to dealing with the aftermath of that "slip," they both had to deal with family issues. It is no secret that Josh's mother was not all too happy with their relationship. Like with any partnership, Courtney and Josh had to adjust to the changes, be it good and bad. And...Emily evoked such feelings as she narrated and voiced out these characters. Her narration definitely gave each character an individual voice in the story that stood out. Emily did not just "read" the story, she pretty much "acted" it out.

I felt for Courtney and Josh. I definitely was rooting for them to endure. Will their relationship endure the trials that lay ahead of them? Or will it be the end? Will their love survive and overcome? Well, I won't give that away. These audiobooks is definitely worth listening to. Now, I have to listen to book three, Taking the Ice.

*WAS GIVEN ARC FOR EXCHANGE OF HONEST OPINION*
There's a lot I can say but it would mostly be me gushing.
I first picked up Life on the Edge my junior year of high school; I was going through a romance genre phase. Well, I fell in love with Comeaux's writing and characters. So, I kept up with the series. Fortunately, two years later and I am still loving the romance genre.
I can't remember much of "Crossing the Ice" but I remembered how much I swooned over Josh. Again, I swooned over him in "Losing the Ice". Courtney is so full of sass, which I greatly appreciate. Their relationship made me so happy and I cannot tell you enough how much I adored the book. Sure there were parts were I was frustrated with Josh, but he still won me over.
I hated Josh's parents so bad. He doesn't deserve to have such wicked parents because he's so sweet. Stephanie won me over in this book too.
I am trying so hard to not post spoilers!
Comeaux's romance writing is my personal romance writing goals. Her writing is so lyrical and beautiful. I also love the fact that while it is NA, she doesn't over-do it with sexytimes. Although, it does get a little heated. ;p
I cannot wait for the third book of the series and any other series that she writes. I am definitely a fan! Keep up with your writing because your romances are just perfect!
My only problem with this book was that it was too short. I want more Josh and Court! But we'll be getting more of them, so yay!
A must read for romance lovers.
Also, be prepared to cry....

Did I enjoy this book: I did but not as much as the first book in this series. I loved Crossing the Ice (you can read my review here), and I have loved all of Ms. Comeaux’s other books. Losing the Ice just felt a bit different, and it was understandable.

Here’s the tricky part: I don’t want to spoil the book, so I can’t tell you exactly what I thought. Let’s just say that the main event shocked me, had me on the edge of my seat, and had me worried. BUT the aftermath was a bit too slow and frustrating for me. And I know it was slow and frustrating for Courtney and Josh as well. But I missed their normal interaction, skating, and chemistry. I wanted more of that. What happened was awful, and I couldn’t believe it. I loved the role Stephanie played in this book. She gained some points from me in this book. Josh’s mother and father, on the other hand, lost even more points. UGH!

With that said, it was still a good read. I can’t wait for Ice #3. I have to know what happens with Courtney and Josh. I have to!!

Would I recommend it: If you read the first book, Crossing the Ice, then you should definitely read this one!

I absolutely love Court & Josh! They went through so much to get together as a couple and as a figure skating pair in the first book Crossing the Ice. I was so excited to read this next installment even though I was worried by the title that Court and Josh were going to be facing more challenges. Boy was I right! Sometimes, life just isn't easy. We always want things to go our way and oftentimes when reading, we want the characters to live a charmed life and for everything to fall into place for them. But that's not reality.

They have had a lot to overcome as Josh and Court compete together for the first time. Unfortunately, that first competition doesn't go exactly as planned. Add to that the stress Josh faces from his family and Court finds herself having to be strong and push her worries and anxieties aside so she can support Josh.

But, don't get me wrong, this isn't a sad or depressing book - it's a book where two young people face challenges, but ultimately learn through these challenges how much they love each other. Being in a commited relationship means facing hard times together, not just good times. They learn to rely on each other and to trust each other. In the end, Josh and Court are stronger as is their relationship. I can't wait to read the next book!

Losing the Ice, a novella length follow up to Crossing the Ice, picks up about eight months later, Courtney and Josh have been skating together and are about to compete in their first big competition. They're on the ice and then everything goes wrong.

Losing the Ice focuses on the aftermath of the incident - which I can't say more about because I don't want to spoil it. What happens tests them as partners, romantically and as skating partners. I enjoyed seeing Courtney and Josh together. Even when it's hard, even when everything is going wrong, you can feel that they love each other so much that they're going to find their way back to each other.

Josh's family also reappears. His parents are still the same, they're cold, dismissive, not supportive, still trying to push him back into the role they want him to have. It's terrible that they can't appreciate how amazing their son is. Courtney surprised me - in a good way. We get to see a side of her we didn't before, I might gasp actually start to like her.

And of course there is skating, good skating, not so good skating, and then, finally, the Pride & Prejudice inspired program. Losing the Ice left me wanting more, I am eagerly awaiting Ice #3, Taking the Ice.

I was excited when Losing the Ice came out this year because I really enjoyed Crossing the Ice (book 1). I was looking forward to more of Josh and Courtney’s story.

Losing the Ice didn’t have quite the same spark that Crossing the Ice held. It could be because a good portion of it is pretty darn angsty (not my favorite thing to read). It could be that it was too short. Or it was both of those things combined.

Courtney was still pretty awesome and very supportive. Her support, even when Josh wasn’t acting like himself, was inspiring. I hope I respond that way, should I ever be faced with a similar situation. Josh was still adorable, even with an attitude. He’s a believable “nice guy.”

Overall, I enjoyed Losing the Ice. I’ll admit I had higher expectations for it, but that really doesn’t take away from my enjoyment of the actual book. I would still recommend the Ice series, including Losing the Ice (especially if you’re a fan of the contemporary romance genre and figure skating).

I loved the first book in the series and I was really looking forward to the next installment. I was not disappointed. We are thrown back into the skating world in this next sequel and Josh and Courtney are now skating partners. This takes some time to adjust to as they have always had other partners to skate before. This also becomes a challenge since they also have a personal relationship off the ice. The author did a great job showing that it is not always easy to do both and be completely in harmonic balance.
Josh and Courtney are in love and it shows through the pages as you are reading the story. There is enough romance to see the relationship change but not to much to make it too much and the whole story. Their love proves to be a great bond when there is an accident and they must rise above its challenges.
Overall this was a great sequel to Crossing the Ice and it allowed us to get to know the characters a bit more from the first book. Due to its short length and great plotline, I was able to finish this in one sitting and craving more.

The first book in this series was great. I loved the adorableness and excitement. But this book made me cry.

I'm not going to say too much about the plot, but in short; Josh and Courtney fall during a performance, Josh gets a severe concussion, and all kinds of stuff just goes wrong.

I read this during a weekend in Williamsburg and I would like to send a personal shout out to the author for keeping me up until all hours so that when it came time for me to explore the Colonial settlement, all I could think of was Josh and Courtney and what my poor little babies were going to go through next.

Honestly, I just feel like every romance fan needs to read Crossing the Ice. The romance is the perfect combo of hot and sweet, a little spicier then Kasie West, but much more appropriate and real than the rest of New Adult. Look out New Adult; you've got a classic in the making.
