I do enjoy the fake dating trope, and The Windsor Love Pact did not disappoint. Set around a riverside community in the Windsor area of the Thames, it was a treat to get to know a new set of characters and know that there are at least another two books to look forward to.
Maya is a terrific protagonist, and I was drawn to her creative, kind nature. I have nothing in common with her artistic gifts, but I can enjoy living vicariously through her talents. Despite nursing a broken heart and recovering from the loss of her burgeoning jewellery business, Maya is determined to avoid romance until she has fully established her new company. A company which remains cloaked in secrecy, garnering a high degree of intrigue. Finding her inspiration from the nature that surrounds her, she has produced pieces ranging from canvases to intricate jewellery.
We also meet Noah, a successful actor about to break into the heady heights of Hollywood fame. A dream come true, which brings its own brand of nightmares in the form of tabloid gossip and gold diggers looking for their next opportunity. Add in the family pressure to settle down, and it was obviously the perfect scenario for a fake dating solution, but Maya and Noah hadn’t factored in their shared attraction.
I absolutely loved this well-executed, totally romantic tale of stolen moments and fake feelings. The characters were well imagined, and I enjoyed following their respective story arcs. There were plenty of surprises along the way, from generous acts to familial reveals. Each member of the supporting cast brought an opportunity to imagine how the remaining stories may unfold, and I am already excited to return to the riverside.
This may have been my first book by this author, but it definitely won't be my last. I loved it!
Fake boyfriend, or is he? maybe she should check with her heart before getting too involved... too late!
Lizzie does it again with another novel I just couldn't put down. The emotional description of the characters make you feel their pain, anxiety, hurt, and love. I could identify with the main character and felt her every emotion throughout the whole book.
If you've dealt with means girls in your life, you will be rooting for Maya every step of the way. She is wholesome and wants to protect herself, but can she really when faced with such strong feelings?
A twist at the end had me very confused and so excited that it wasn't what I had predicted for the ending. Keeping secrets of her own complicates things for her.
When Noah literally crashes into Maya her life takes a turn for the better and she finds herself back in the spotlight she has been avoiding since she lost her jewellery business and her fiancé. Noah and Maya agree on a fake relationship but it’s obvious there is a spark between them or is it all an act? he is an actor after all. This book is filled with beautiful, creative, quirky characters in a stunning riverside setting and I was star struck at the amazing talent showcased in the storyline. A sparkling start to a new series.
Maya is a jewellary designer, who’s hiding a secret new venture and protecting her heart from the hurt inflicted from an ex-fiance. However, now that she’s back home there’s plenty of pressure for her to find love, but she’s determined to establish her business before she begins to trust in love again. Until Noah literally crashes into her one morning. He’s an actor whose fame who's heading towards Hollywood status. For Noah that fame comes with the paparazzi, the gold diggers and an ex-girlfriend who just can't accept that it's over. For Maya, she's trying really hard to forget what that fame did to her. When Maya and Noah agree on a fake dating pact, Maya wasn't expecting public displays of affection and Noah's kissing is making her feel something, but he's an actor. Can she stop herself from catching feelings for him? Chantree has a wonderful knack of describing the plants and wildlife, painting a picture of nature that is as ethereal as the jewellary Maya creates. I know Windsor well and love the setting of the Thames, especially as it's beautiful by the river. As for Maya friends and family, they are characters you’d want in your life too and you can again by reading Maya's brother Arthur and her sister Romy's story in the next two books in the Windsor Riverside Romance. There’s a twist near the end which I never expected, and the ex-girlfriend is seriously suitable for a role in Mean Girls. If you enjoy fake dating tropes and spending days by the riverbank you’ll thoroughly enjoy reading Windsor Dating Pact.
