The Barracudas are at sea in the third thrilling Pirate Academy adventure …
The kids of Barracuda Class are shocked to the core when one of their favourite teachers is revealed to be an agent of the League of True Pirates.
Jacoby tries to make sense of the betrayal – and discovers evidence that one of his own classmates may be LOT P’s next target.
Jasmine launches a maverick sailing mission to reunite with her father, but soon finds herself voyaging in highly dangerous waters.
Neo is following a treasure-trail left by his mother, far away from the Academy. At the end of his journey lies an amazing a sword with untold powers that, in the right hands, might just change everything.
Justin Somper is a bestselling UK author whose Vampirates books have been translated into over twenty languages. Justin trained in sword-fighting to help him write the fight scenes in the Vampirates series.
This time Jacoby, Jasmine and Neo all have their own missions and adventures to complete, though they remain the best of friends. All three have to help in the fight against LOT P, the rebel pirates, but in different ways. This was just as exciting as the first two books, with friends defecting and old contacts rediscovered. I really never knew who could be trusted, which kept me on edge waiting to find out what would happen!
Following on from Missing At Sea, Sword Echoes sees are favourite trio all heading in different directions. With Neo following his mother’s trail, Jasmine searching for her father, and Jacoby facing more problems from LOT P, each of them is in untold danger, more than they could ever have known.
I was so happy to be back with the characters within this series as I’ve grown to love all of them over the course of the books. I love watching them grown, and their relationships build, and the new friendships they create along the way. But something that made me even happier was the appearance of a very familiar face from the Vampirates series! I loved seeing what life was like for them before they became the pirate I know so well, and following their journey alongside the kids of Barracuda class.
The concept of sword echoes is one that truly fascinates me. The idea that a sword can hold memories is so cool, and in a way I think that swords can actually hold a story through there history. The way that this is explored when the sword is in the right hands is one of my favourite things about this book, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching Neo explore his newly found powers.
With more danger and adventure than ever before, and intense showdowns that have you on the edge of your seat, this book is a fantastic addition to the series. Justin has the beautiful ability to create a world that absorbs you and you never want to leave. I’m desperately hoping that there is plenty more to come (and from the ending of this book it seems likely), because I’m nowhere near ready to let these characters go.
