After something goes magically amiss during February’s seriously-sexy and sexily-serious ritual, Holly is left drowning in the same monstrous desires that plagued her before banging in the New Year. But when the trapped Lord of Songs senses her desperation and changes the rules of the game, she faces a difficult choice–trust the scorching, scheming hands of this slick, sexy new devil, or remain bound and beholden to the golden-eyed fae that awaits her on the other side?
Crush'd is BOOK THREE in the Holly Gets... fantasy erotica series, and is just as spicy, sweet, and strange as everything else that Ginger Kane writes.
Ginger Kane isn't always writing lighthearted erotica about stupid sexy monster men and the lucky ladies they ravish - sometimes she's daydreaming about stupid sexy monster men and the lucky ladies they ravish. Because somewhere behind every monster-sized demon, faerie, shifter, orc, and alien, is Ginger, inspired and drooling with pen in hand.
I've been waiting for this book for so long, it kept getting pushed back and I kept going "nooo", but now it's finally out and I read it, yay!!
Crush'd felt different than the first two books, Holly didn't act like herself, it was as if she was a different character.
And the story worked better for me before too, it didn't take itself too seriously, vs now where the plot seems like it's trying to make sense of the naturally occurring whimsy which isn't necessary.
But I'm still looking forward to book four, and however many other books we get in the Hollyverse as well.
I was initially hyped to see the third part of this series was out. The first two were over-the-top, campy smut.
This was not. If you want to read about how Holly has become a sex addict and she and Mr. New Year from book 2 have 0 communication skills and are in an unhealthy relationship, this is the book for you. This one tried to develop the lore even further, but I think this series would've been better if it didn't have lore. Just have Holly be cursed to be haunted by the sexualized personifications of holidays and be done with it. We don't need some overcomplicated lore in this series to explain why this needy, unremarkable woman is getting railed by the Easter Bunny. And if you're going to introduce lore, at least let it be interesting. So much of this is dedicated to lore and it was a snoozefest. So much so that by the time the smut finally happened, I didn't care any more and I just wanted it to be over.
This bizarre erotica series just exploded into a whole-ass giant story. I appreciate the plot to go along with the most creative chastity I have encountered to date. I was wondering how we were going to spend 125 pages on this and then I got court politics and detailed descriptions of an ocean made of jizz. I am invested.
50% DNF. I tried, I really did try to finish this book. But I just couldn’t really get into it. The ELF book was my favorite and that’s what got me hooked. The one after with the golden fae, eh it was okay, readable. But this? We keep going back to that golden fae who’s just boring to me. And Astor? The demon with the crystallized cock, (lol) he’s just not as entertaining as the first fae. (The Christmas one, forgot his name) I’m kinda disappointed, this series started off so good and then now… it’s just eh.
Wow. From the series starting off with a silly Christmas dildo turned improsoned fae, I am so shocked at how well written all the books of this series has been. The world Ginger is building for Holly and the ‘spokes of the wheel’ aka unique monsterous dreamboats. Yes its steamy and smutty. Lots of silliness and also lots of heartwarming character (and feeling) development. I can’t wait for tbe March release to see what crazy adventure Holly has next
I wasn't expecting to get worldbuilding in this book, but woah! It doesn't hurt that the Lord of Songs is a lovable rascal, and thank heavens Holly finally has someone on her side, even if he can't be completely trusted. Kinda excited to see where things go from here.
