In advance of Marvel's First Family arriving on the big screen this summer, Ryan North and Humberto Ramos craft an unusual story in which the FANTASTIC FOUR respond to a most unusual interdimensional summons! And on the eve of the birth of the ALL-NEW, ALL-DIFFERENT X-MEN, there is one extra mutant in attendance. WHO is it? Only Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing can tell you! Plus, ANOTHER surprise! We're simply too good to you!
The FF story was cute I guess. It teases up the new Fantastic Four #1. Crazy how they are starting over at #1 again even though it’s still the same writer. The X-Men story had me potentially interested to see what Kamala/Ms Marvel is going to do with the X-Men in the past. The last story was a little funny, especially the ending.
Honestly great. The FF story was cute, although I don't care for Humberto Ramos' art. The X-Men story was really cool, good Cyclops stuff, but I think basing this crossover thing around Kamala is so strange. And a surprise Chip Zdarsky silly story, I loved it!
The title-less Fantastic Four story starts with the four being accidentally beamed to an unknown alien world.
Alien kid’s have managed to ‘summon’ them by creating a pentagram of metal shavings which has somehow attracted the teleportation beam Reed Richards was testing.
Of course, it also attracts big ass monsters which the Fantastic Four have to fight off. The push the monsters back through the portal created.
This was a very cute story and I love the art by Ramos if I’m not mistaken. If I knew for sure he was doing the Fantastic Four I’d be sure to pick up the issues!
4 stars.
I’m not sure why X-Men shares this book. Surely X-Men can support their own Free Comic Book day magazine? In fact, I’d think if they were on the cover that would encourage more comic book shops to buy them than the Fantastic Four.
Cyclops challenges a bunch of mutants to ‘Show me what you’ve got.’. The mutants are: Nightcrawler, Thunderbird, Sunfire, Storm, Colossus, Wolverine and Banshee.
Cyclops treats them and beats them like new recruits so I guess this is another reboot. Boy am I sick of reboots.
Though the surprise guest - and the indication that this is not a reboot so much as it is a time travel story, is defining pretty cool! I don’t even like the X-Men, but if I see the comic this is pimping for (Giant-Size X-Men #1) I’ll pick it up. 3 stars for surprise.
”Popularity Contest” is a weird meta story about Wolverpool and Deadverine who think they are in a comic book.
Umm.. this is mildly amusing. I’m not really a fan of this type of humor. I’ll give it 3 stars because it’s as good as these types of stories get.
Well, surprisingly this winds up being 3 stars which for a Free Comic Book Day comic is an almost all time high!
This was fun, the FF story especially, since it was just a fun-natured story (with big battles). The X-Men story was a huge throwback to GSX#1 and X-Men #94, so having read those, I appreciate the homage, with the twist at the end of adding Kamala Khan. Interesting idea, reimagining the hey-day of X-Men.

For what these stories were (short and just for fun mostly) they did they’re job well.
A nice introduction to some characters for readers that may not have picked up a comic before or at least read these specific characters properly before. I know I’ve never actively read any Fantastic Four or X-Men up to this point, only reading them if the appeared in other books.
Read the whole Kamala giant size xmen story. It’s fine. I don’t mind the Kamala mutant thing in theory but 1) she just doesn’t fit with the xmen the way she does with the avengers and 2) they’ve yet to find something interesting to do or say with her new mutant powers and identity besides just that it makes her more like her MCU counterpart
Decent but nothing special. The f4 story was fun enough and had some dope panels, the X-men story was pretty dope, and the last one didn’t do much for me . Fun quick read but not very remarkable
Well, it was free. I guess I cannot expect a huge commitment and storyline. Entertaining. I do not think it did very well with filling in holes of plot.
Free Comic Book Day 2025: Fantastic Four / Giant-Size X-Men #1
Ryan North's solid run on the Fantastic Four is ending, but fear not True Believers, we're getting a new #1 from...Ryan North. Not sure why Marvel continues to do this (rhetorical question)?
Anyways, the new series does look to be just as good as the current series, and Ryan North has really carved out for himself a distinctive run on the First Family. This issue also includes a tease for Ms. Marvel in the upcoming new Giant-Size X-Men #1, which only further piles onto the controversial decision of retconning Kamala Khan as a mutant - a storyline which originates from the MCU. Wrapping up this FCBD issue is a fun Chip Zdarsky written and drawn story featuring Wolverpool and Deadverine (the highlight of this issue easily).
The Fantastic Four story was great. Some alien kids summon them to another dimension and puts them in a pickle. The dialogue and art are great. Apparently having Humberto Ramos on art though requires a new #1 now.
The Giant-Size X-Men story was pretty bland. If you haven't heard, Ms. Marvel is traveling through time to big moments in X-Men history in 5 one shots. I may wait for these to hit MU after reading this.
There's a 3rd story written and drawn by Chip Zdarsky. It's pretty good but check it out yourself.
