Joe Kelly and John Romita Jr. remind us who Peter Parker and SPIDER-MAN are! Plus, an exclusive prologue to this summer's blockbuster ULTIMATE event from Deniz Camp, Cody Ziglar & Jonas Scharf!
Joe Kelly is taking over Spider-Man, Miles is about to deal with an incursion and someone is gunning for the New Venom, New Carnage and Spidey. This book teased those 3 stories. Decent.
Been a few years, at least three, since I’ve read a Marvel comic. Clueless about the new continuity and this was no help. Only for those who already know all this.
This book did its job. It got me excited for the new Amazing Spider-man series. Peter Parker is not a total loser so far, great artwork, and possibly a decent fighter?
I was going to get the Ultimate books any was as they are by far the best Spider-man book. Older, more mature, and married to Mary Jane Watson Parker rules. However, this is a great recap on Miles as well.
The final preview is from a Spider-man, Venom, and Carnage crossover. Sounds promising.
”Incursion” introduces Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and The Maker and gives a brief explanation of who they are.
Johnny Romita Jr. as the artist is a definitely plus!
Spider-Man is fighting an assassin named Lord Deathstrike outside of a hospital where Harry Osborn is staying. With serious injuries.
This was obviously a brief interlude in an ongoing story in one of the Spider-Man comics.
The only weird part is that it apparently interrupted Peter Parker about become a child molester. Using the excuse that he needs to reprogram Aunt May’s remote.
”Old-Lady Mystery Marathon… who knew?”
The art was good, but there’s no real story there. 2 stars at best.
The next story is a Miles Morales story. Uh, as a introduction to Ultimate Spider-Man Incursion #1 it’s pretty perfunctory. But I’m not all that familiar with the character. 1 star. I don’t really like the art, even though it’s good.
So as is often the case with FCBD books, this was more advertisement than actual comic book. I think that’s a shame because I think the whole idea was to encourage comic book reading and reading something that is mostly an ad for all the other things you should be buying makes it hard to believe that it creates new readers.
And seeing that there is another Amazing Spider-Man #1 just makes me want to hurl.
Really really good for a free comic-makes me want to read more of 2 of the 3 stories in this. Also the Thunderbolts and Marvel Premier Collection ads are really cool looking-might have to get them
A quick, fun read, laying the groundwork for upcoming stories. The Ultimate story was intriguing, but seems like it was just rehashed background for something that already happened back in Ultimate Invasion.
