A preview of the new Amazing Spider-Man (2025-) #1. This title has relaunched too often that it's not worth buying at cover price for me anymore.

This book did its job. It got me excited for the new Amazing Spider-man series. Peter Parker is not a total loser so far, great artwork, and possibly a decent fighter?

I was going to get the Ultimate books any was as they are by far the best Spider-man book. Older, more mature, and married to Mary Jane Watson Parker rules. However, this is a great recap on Miles as well.

The final preview is from a Spider-man, Venom, and Carnage crossover. Sounds promising.

Another purchase of a ‘free’ comic.

”Incursion” introduces Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and The Maker and gives a brief explanation of who they are.

Johnny Romita Jr. as the artist is a definitely plus!

Spider-Man is fighting an assassin named Lord Deathstrike outside of a hospital where Harry Osborn is staying. With serious injuries.

This was obviously a brief interlude in an ongoing story in one of the Spider-Man comics.

The only weird part is that it apparently interrupted Peter Parker about become a child molester. Using the excuse that he needs to reprogram Aunt May’s remote.

”Old-Lady Mystery Marathon… who knew?”

The art was good, but there’s no real story there. 2 stars at best.

The next story is a Miles Morales story. Uh, as a introduction to Ultimate Spider-Man Incursion #1 it’s pretty perfunctory. But I’m not all that familiar with the character. 1 star. I don’t really like the art, even though it’s good.

So as is often the case with FCBD books, this was more advertisement than actual comic book. I think that’s a shame because I think the whole idea was to encourage comic book reading and reading something that is mostly an ad for all the other things you should be buying makes it hard to believe that it creates new readers.

And seeing that there is another Amazing Spider-Man #1 just makes me want to hurl.

2 stars and only for Romita.

Messy...it's like a pastiched-introduction to different characters, with no discernible real story, either within the small pastiches or within the overall comic. I've read better Free Comic Book Day comics than this one--that's for sure.

But, at least this was free. It's short though, and I felt like I wasted even that short amount of reading time with it....

The Amazing Spider-Man: When Death Strikes

Lord Deathstrike has plans for a coma patient in the hospital.

Turns out, the man in the bed is Norman Osborn, Spider-Man’s former arch-nemesis. Osborn is apparently now reformed.

Nice illustrations; strong color work.

Spider-Man looks sexy.

Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion (Prelude)

Miles is attending the Brooklyn Visions Academy.

But patrols are affecting his academic performance.

Miles considers a tempting offer from his brother.

Much reflection.

Nice detail.

…then takes a weird (unwelcome) detour into Venom, with Eddie Brock and Carnage.
