PI John Kite is shocked by the callous, inexplicable killing of an old but was it the prelude to a far greater crime? Evidence from New York, LA, and London takes Kite half way across the world where he teams up with ex-FBI agent, the free-wheeling Hudson. They track a pair of glamorous, suave fraudsters who seek to extort a billion dollars from dangerous, international 'bad actors' - with an audacious scam which will undermine global security. But Kite and Hudson are stunned when they discover it is them, alone and unarmed, who must use ‘extreme prejudice’ to avert the threat to world peace. This is ex-cop John Kite's most gruelling assignment ever, but there's still zippy action, snappy dialogue, quirky characters and perky humour.
This may be the best of the series so far. John Kite is one of the best characters in thrillers these days. Besides plenty of action and suspense, he is a hero who thinks. He is the type of person who you could call a friend. The plot is excellent and well thought out. It seems possible to actually happen. Nicely developed secondary characters. Highly recommended.
Another cracker of a book in a great series. The way that the plot gradually unfolds as it twists this way and that is really gripping and makes the book very difficult to put aside. The character descriptions are so vivid that you can visualise the individuals in your mind's eye. John Kite is a fascinating character and, as always, I look forward to the next in the series.
A deadly business. I enjoy books that educate as well as entertain. Doughty’s John Kite thrillers deliver both. Well-written, clever plots with great characters and pulse-pounding action. In Deadly Landscape, the death of a friend makes this investigation personal for John Kite. A great addition to the series! Highly recommend!
