Home is a place of refuge.

After a traumatic childhood hotel manager Callie is looking for the stability of a quiet life. Which is why her passionate night with an irresistibly gorgeous stranger in Melbourne is so out of character. One night of no-strings, no-last-names passion is exactly what she needs before she disappears to return to her quiet and safe existence.

Callie is understandably shocked, then, when the very same man who was her passionate lover that night three months earlier turns up at her foster-parents' home in small town Hope Creek to be the best man at her sister's wedding.

This is no normal post-one-night-stand reunion because Callie is pregnant-and Jack is the father.

But untangling their new future is the least of Callie and Jack's problems. The business venture that millionaire Jack is exploring while he's here in Hope Creek is about to turn deadly ... and Jack will be caught in the middle, unless Callie can face up to her past and find help from those she swore to keep away from.

Can Callie trust her brand-new feelings for the father of her child? Or will her yearning for safety at all costs drive them apart when Jack needs her the most?

EXCERPT: It'd been months.
There must be hundreds of men called Jack who had rich baritone voices that could send quivers of longing up and down a woman's spine.
There was no way the Jack she'd met in Melbourne could possibly be here at Hope Creek Station.
No way.
But as she rounded the corner and entered the room, it was impossible to prevent her quick, audible intake of breath.
Blue's hand tightened around her arm as she stumbled.
Jack.
All six foot four divine inches of him.
Here.
In her family's living room.

MY THOUGHTS: My opinion of this read jumped all over the place as I was reading. Initially, I wasn't impressed with the insta-love trope.

Then things became more than a little interesting with the introduction of a murder and the tangled web of deception behind it.

However, once that was resolved, my interest waned again.

I love a good Aussie rural romance but was ultimately disappointed by this one. I don't like insta-love. Give me a good old-fashioned 'getting to know you' romance any day.

Callie's career as a hotel manager is mentioned in the blurb but the reader doesn't get to experience any of her working life. None of the people she works with are mentioned. It's like this whole facet of her life doesn't exist.

Callie doesn't appear to have any friends. She is very close to her family, but where are her friendships from town, school?

I guess what I am trying to say is I don't feel Callie's character was very well developed.

The storyline could have been wrapped up earlier than it was. I felt the last few chapters were unnecessary and the book could have ended, with a little rewriting, at the end of Chapter 23.

There's no question that author Alyssa J. Montgomery can write. I devoured the middle portion of this book eagerly. The scene between Callie and her estranged birth mother was brilliantly done and very emotional. But overall, Callie's character needed more depth as did the romantic aspect of the plot. After spending a couple of minutes reading the author's profile, I feel I know her better than I know Callie whom I have been reading about for the last four days.

Victoria, Australia. Callie isn’t normally a risk taker, so it was very out of character when she has passionate night with a mystery man she met in a nightclub, embarrassed she sneaks out of his room the next morning, they were safe and it should all be fine?

Three months later, Callie returns home to Hope Creek for her foster sister Stella’s and brother-in-law to be Mitch’s wedding. Callie hears a bloke talking in another room and recognizes the voice, sure enough standing in Jim and Margaret's lounge room is the guy, and his name is Jack Marshall, he’s the best man and Mitch's friend.

Callie doesn’t want to ruin the wedding, take the spot light away from the bride and groom and how did everything end up so messy and complicated. Callie is pregnant and has to tell him about the baby, of course he wants proof and she isn’t lying and Jack who never wanted to have kids is going to be a dad. Callie’s own childhood was hard, her parents are in jail and she’s not sure what he will think about her troubled past.

Jack isn’t here just for the wedding, a nearby winery is for sale and he’s interested in buying it. He and Callie go and take a look, both find the owner a little odd and creepy, he doesn’t employ locals which is strange and Jack’s accountant will need to investigate. Jack has no idea that he has stumbled across something dangerous and illegal and someone wants to get back at him and he has made an enemy.

I really enjoyed reading Sharing Forever in Hope Creek by Alyssa J. Montgomery, this narrative was a little different, because it wasn’t focused only romance and the main characters finding their happily ever after and it had elements of intrigue, suspense, and sinister links to the Aussie underworld.

Four and a half stars from me, I have a copy of the next book in the series called Now and Always in Hope Creek and this time it’s pilot Morgan turn and I'm very keen to start reading it.

I loved my second trip to Hope Creek, we met the three young woman, who had been fostered by Margaret and Jim in book one and saw Stella find her HEA this time lets see if Callie can find hers after a very traumatic childhood Callie settled in well with her foster parents and two foster sisters and she was determined to always be good and sensible but when Stella had her accident Callie decides to live a little and had a one night stand that leaves consequences.

Callie returns to Hope Creek Station the place that she has called home for many years for Stella and Mitch’s wedding she has taken some leave from her event planning job and has opened up to her family about the baby. She is shocked when her one night stand Jack arrives to be groomsman at the wedding, was it fate that brought them back together?

Jack Marshall three months ago had the best night of his life and never forgot the woman he spent it with but when she had gone in the morning there was no way to find her but coming to Hope Creek for his best friend’s wedding sees him reuniting with Callie and with shocking news that he is going to be a father, something he had never wanted, but Jack will never not take on his responsibilities, could they have a future together?

Jack is looking at a business proposal in Hope Creek when things turn deadly and this brings back memories from Callie’s childhood and tears them apart but will Callie be able to step up and face her past to help Jack and run with the feelings in her heart?

I did love this one and highly recommend it, Callie and Jack are just the best together and catching up with the other characters from Hope Creek was fabulous and I am looking forward to Morgan’s story now. Thank you MS Montgomery for another beautiful romance that had me cheering them on with a smile, it is filled with emotion and very moving.

My thanks to Netgalley and Escape Publishing for my copy to read and review.

A heartfelt small-town romance with a touch of suspense and plenty of emotion.

Callie’s had a tough past and is just looking for a quiet, stable life when one impulsive night with a stranger turns into something much bigger. Three months later, she discovers that same man, Jack, has turned up in her hometown — and he’s about to become a much bigger part of her future than she expected.

I really enjoyed the emotional journey in this story. The characters had great chemistry, the Hope Creek setting felt warm and familiar, and the added suspense gave it a nice edge. It wasn’t my favourite in the genre, but it was still a lovely, engaging read with a satisfying ending.

A solid four stars from me. Thank you to Alyssa J. Montgomery, Escape Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

What I loved about the this story, was that it had twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Adding into the characters that I’ve felt that I knew already and the connection of family and how important it was within the family and the community.

Callie and Jack, are two characters who both feel they don’t do emotions really well and are very individual, even though they have a common reason the get to know each other better.

The way that Alyssa has written the book makes you want to not put the book down to see where the characters end up. I’m looking forward to next story.
