Read this by ACCIDENT because I thought it was the first book in the Bobiverse series. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂😂

Well, I feel like I failed a very basic IQ test. I find a Reddit recommendation for best audio books and stumble upon one titled "We are legion, we are Bob"

I search it up on Hoopla, they have it! Doesn't have great reviews on the Hoopla app, but the book doesn't have that many reviews period. Must be a Reddit thing.

Craziest first chapter of a book I ever read. Despite an intriguing sci fi concept this was way too edgy and juvenile for me. Also, as I approach the final chapter a thought creeps in my mind... I don't think I ever met a character named Bob?

Well, turns out, this is a Russian sci fi story of almost the same title as the book I meant to read. I didn't love it, I didn't hate it, but once I realize I have been hoodwinked/self-sabotaged into reading this whole thing I can't help but look at this as a waste of time.

I liked it quite a bit. The MC is a nice guy, though we don't really get much of an emotional range. Kind of wooden, actualyl. But he seems to be a good guy. He's smart, but not TOO smart. He has a hero complex. That's how he ended up in a coma at the very start of the story. That's a huge plus for me.

In book 2 he slowly becomes a young man's concept of a man. Virile (able to satisfy 3 women at once, for example). Good looking. Crazy good at martial arts. You know the kind. The kind of guy every teenage male wants to be. But it slips up on you and the story is so interesting that I actually want to read the next installment. I'm overlooking the authors' male fantasies.

It's not a harem story, thank god, but the alleged sex (nothing explicit) did become him and 2-3 women. The women are strong and independent; it's their choice to partake or not. So I'm okay with that part. It's just like, really? You think 1 guy can satisfy 3 women? In your dreams! And can climax, like 6 times per go?

The world building is a very interesting concept. He has his real life on earth, and a fuzzy idea of maybe saving the world from disaster. So he is building towards that. But then (after an extremely intense initiation) can just clock out whenever he wants and be generated (inside a human "shell") in a different universe where he becomes a sniper and kills endless, very creatively created, bugs. Hordes of them.

I think there are hints of nefariousness to keep the war going, but nothing is said directly. It just has that vibe. It's all about money, but I don't think I'm giving anything away if you know that upfront. He, being a Legionnaire, has to pay for everything, but then also gets incredible rewards. I just feel like the Powers That Be could more easily end this war if they really wanted to. This is all just conjecture at this time (after reading 3 of 5 planned books). We will see.

Fun read. I read book one and two back to back, great start to series.

Simple read with a solid premise and the plot moves along briskly keeping your attention and entertaining the whole way. The story uses just enough elements to make it complex but an easy read without making the reader feel like he's reading a middle school book. The main character is great simply because he remains his own agent without the storybogging him down with a to b to c scenarios and the authors keep the supporting cast as just that, they are not overpowering or insufferable, which I have to say is refreshing to read these days. I won't say this is classic literature in any sense but it's a lot of fun and I really enjoy reading it. These authors have produced books series that I have not liked, however they've also produced some that have become some of my favorite and I've read more than once. I'm glad I waited for this series to build a few books because after book two it leaves me wanting more. If you like this genre I highly recommend these books they're fun, fast-paced and entertaining.

I only read this book because I thought it was “We are Legion” (We are Bob). I had ordered that book online and never received it so in my annoyance, I found an audiobook on Libby and started listening. It has similar spacey themes but I was confused from the beginning that this didn’t sound like the synopsis I had read. Pretty quickly I realized it wasn’t the same book but decided to give it a chance anyway.

Well, I couldn’t finish it. The protagonist has no growth, he’s always the best at everything. They keep hinting at some nefarious ongoings (capitalism again) that did keep me hooked for a while… but I had trouble with his murderous plans for revenge. And women are always throwing themselves at him, the words “big tits” comes up way too much for my liking. Then he starts fighting a whole mob and some people on Earth have magic now? It was all very confusing. It reads like a teen boys fantasy adventure. So if that is your thing, you might love it. For me, I give it 2 stars for keeping my interest as long as it did.

Just finished with my ARC for the start of a brand new series that will be out soon. You will want a big bag of popcorn for this one. Lots of action, it's not deep and it won't win any awards, but it is 80's action movie kind of fun and can kill a few hours of boredom for you.

Of course the fact that this is a review based off the ARC, it did have mistakes. I sent a list of corrections to be made. I'm not going to claim to have found them all though. So after it is released, if you find a mistake please let them know so it can be fixed and improve the reading experience of the next person.

Like I said it isn't deep or thought provoking, but it was fun and I am looking forward to book two.

I received a review copy of this book.
This is a really good story. We begin with a patient in a coma, then by the end of the story, he's planning to topple the monopoly of local organized businesses that won't allow local competition. Of course, there's lots of material in between, and if you're a fan of progression stories (although in this case, not exactly LitRPG), this book is a good choice. There's not levels and stats like we'd expect in normal LitRPG tales, but there is decent enough progression despite the lack of stats. Does it qualify as LitRPG? hmm, not really, but it does strictly fit the definition, so I have to let it slide. Regardless of it's classification, if you're a scifi fan, this is one story you probably don't want to miss.

I picked up We Are Legion because I mistakenly thought it was the first book in the Bobiverse series... I found this book to be a fairly average read and struggled to connect with the main character.

The biggest issue for me was the protagonist himself. He is written as someone who can do everything: he is exceptionally intelligent, highly capable, always one step ahead, and seems to succeed at every challenge placed in front of him. The character feels more like an idealized fantasy figure than a believable person. A story is usually more engaging when characters have flaws, make mistakes, and have to overcome genuine obstacles.

Also, there are many moments where the portrayal of women felt unnecessary, dated and demeaning.

This book is solid, if you're willing to look past the initial setup. It's translated Russian LitRPG and carries much of the trademarks of that genre - things will feel a bit off about character interactions, especially and there are also a few translation errors as well. (noted in my highlights section)

That said, it's a fun, fast-paced book with lots of action and a reasonable system in place. It's not going to win a bunch of awards, but I certainly found it to be an enjoyable read.

Like many other reviewers I picked up this audiobook by mistake, looking for the OTHER “”We Are Legion”. I quickly realized my mistake but stuck with it. The narrator was not the best (though I either got used to him or he improved in the second half of the book), and I found the book to be a fun, enjoyable tale with some fairly predictable but still thought provoking themes.

You had to ask a question that people wanted to find out the answer to. Give them a reason to keep reading.

Out of nowhere, I found this book and absolutely love it. Short, fast-paced, sci-fi that could conceivably happen. Loved all the action. The author does a great job of telling the complete story without oversharing to much detail. On to book 2

Attention: This is NOT the first book in the Bobiverse series. If you try and talk about it to your friend you recommended Bobiverse, they will be very, very confused.

The book's fine, but characters have no depth. It's basically a videogame in print.

We Are Legion by Dmitry Dornichev. If this is a good example of the LitRPG genre, then I guess LitRPG just isn't for me. The style and the storyline simply didn't work for me, and I finally gave up and moved on.

This book was a blast to read. It's well written, but it's just fun. It's pure escapism. Do yourself a favor and pick this book up.
