When New York journalist Camille DuPont returns to her childhood hometown of Belle Noire after her grandmother's mysterious death, she expects to pay her respects and leave. Instead, she finds herself trapped by an ancient family obligation she never knew existed. 🏚️
A cryptic letter. A forbidden room in the basement. A cloth doll that seems to move on its own. 👁️
As strange occurrences plague the decaying town—children speaking in unknown tongues, animals found in disturbing circumstances, shadows where none should be—Camille begins to uncover the dark truth behind her family's long history in Belle Noire. 💀
Guided by fragmented memories and opposed by those who want to maintain the status quo, Camille must decide whether to embrace her troubling heritage or fight against it. Something ancient and hungry watches from the shadows, waiting for the seventh generation to complete what began over a century ago. 🕯️
The clock is ticking toward the new moon, and Camille's choices will determine not just her fate, but that of an entire town caught between worlds. 🌀
Some secrets are buried for a reason, and some bargains demand more than blood... ⏳
VOODOO is a chilling Southern Gothic thriller where family history and supernatural horror collide in the humid Louisiana swamps, where the past refuses to stay buried, and where crossing the wrong threshold might cost you everything—even your memories. 🐊
Cozy & spooky. The perfect short story to sit and have a nice cuppa with on a spooky evening. You have generations, rituals, loa, bindings, offerings and the best atmosphere in a creaky plantation house surrounded by chirping insects and humidity!
I've read almost all of Ariel's English books. They get better with each step you take into her supernatural world building. I loved Camille, her strength and her supernatural abilities. I could see every scene playing off in front of my eyes.
The Baron gave vampiric vibes and he was definitely a disturbing and disturbed individual. A hateful villain that kept an entire town hostage to get what he wanted from the 7th daughter of the 7th line. Ominous indeed!
(3.5-3.6 ⭐️) I really enjoyed the plot and storyline. There was just so much repetition of phrasing and wording. Whole lines used again and again and again. That’s my only issue, but I really did love the book.
This book takes a girl back to the evil that came before her birth. Great read and what a way to face the past when your grandmother dies. I sure enjoyed this book.
