Electric Graveyard: A Tribute to Bradbury

Rate this book
Ray Bradbury was a master of imagination—a visionary who wove multiple genres into tales that shaped generations of readers and writers. His stories danced on the edge of dream and nightmare, asking timeless questions about society, technology, fear, and the fragile beauty of being human.

In this tribute collection, Patrick C. Harrison III and Judith Sonnet each present four original stories. From the chilling grip of horror to the speculative reach of science fiction, from gritty crime to poignant human drama, these stories echo Bradbury’s spirit while bringing the authors’ own voices into bold focus.

Eight stories. Two authors. One shared reverence for a literary legend. This is a celebration of storytelling, a reminder of the power of wonder—and a journey into the many worlds Ray Bradbury inspired.

Electric Graveyard: A Tribute to Bradbury is an exquisite collection of magnificent stories written by Patrick C Harrison III and Judith Sonnet as a tribute to the legendary Ray Bradbury, whose literary scope was perhaps broader than many people realize. Each of these stories is prefaced by the author with a note on the style or aspect of Bradbury that inspired it. Let’s take a look.

“Monsters Forever” by Judith Sonnet visits a family with a little boy who collects monsters to the point of obsession. The family dynamic is poignant, the subtext chilling, and the twist of this tale is horrifying.

“The House of Sideshow Jim” by Patrick C Harrison III (PC3) is a nostalgic story of childhood curiosity and the ominous house at the end of the street (always an excellent theme). This is a wonderfully classical styled tale with a dark and very Bradbury turn.

“Tell Me How it is You Love Me” by Judith is a compelling and suspenseful character-driven tale about a carefully crafted lie and what it begets. This is a unique, unpredictable, and disturbing little story.

“So Foul and Fair a Day” by PC3 is a driving crime story that takes us inside the workings of ruthless gangsters. Absolutely riveting.

“After the Great Change-Up” by Judith is a very impactful Bradbury style story about people in a post-change world, though it is refreshingly not dystopian. The ending tightened my chest, and I read it twice because of the way it got me thinking.

“Quiescence” by PC3 is a wonderfully bizarre pulpy tale with a sci-fi twist. The characters and dialogue are fantastic, and the hard left the story takes is brilliant. A fun read.

“There’s a Certain Magic” by Judith is an evocative and moving story about childhood wonder, a grandfather’s past, and a special type of magic.

“Cigar Shop by the Bay” by PC3 is a deep story of mystery, companionship, and the secret of an enigmatic stranger. A compelling tale with evocative subtext.

This is a brilliant tribute to Bradbury and an excellent collection of masterfully penned stories overall. I truly enjoyed all 8 of these stories and found it to be an incredible reading experience. Electric Graveyard is a shelf-worthy 5-star read. Highly recommended.
