USA Today Bestselling Author. She loves all books, but her favorite genre to read, as well as write, is romance. Bella loves creating heartbreaking stories that will deeply touch her readers, but in the end, a good HEA is usually the turnout.
Whenever Bella is not typing away on her computer with a nice hot cup of coffee, she loves spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite places to go are the movies, the beach, or just on a good plain old road trip. Some of her must haves are coffee, chocolate, pizza, music, & movies.
Emy really captures those intense feelings of loss, anxiety, and devastation that follow an unexpected breakup, leading towards a happy ending after many setbacks and trials that make the main character feel as if she might never find love again. If you're looking for a HEA with realistic emotions and difficulties, Brokenhearted is for you!
Brokenhearted written by Bella Emy mirrors a story about a woman’s struggle between moving-on and holding on to her first love. It narrates her journey towards finding the real essence of love. The idea of pitting first love versus real love is a subtle touch. In the end, this story gave me the feel that even if you learn about love the hard way, repeatedly and painstakingly so it seems, it does not matter because everything will be alright in the end and everyone will be treated by karma accordingly. I hope I did not give away much of the story. I TRULY RECOMMEND this book especially to those who are currently nursing a broken heart.
Set around Crystal View Harbour comes Broken Hearted, a unique tale of love and loss. Set over a two year period, we see the naive Emily Jones transform into a confident young woman who conquers her demons.
Romance is sparked when ex husband Bruce decides to re-kindle his relationship with Emily. The author gives Emily's perspective an individual feel that brings us closer to her as a character. The dialogue between her and others is warm and natural, and conveys every emotion that bubbles into her thoughts.
The English language sings with an elegance that you don't often see nowadays. I found myself drawn into the author's world, where romance and passion awaited me at every turn. The story itself has lots of up and down moments as we journey through Emily's adult life. The use of good humour helps to alleviate some of the darker moments, promising a positive experience for the reader overall.
Romance isn't the only key feature. We also learn of a dark secret that will eventually bring Emily the happiness she deserves. But, at what cost? Broken Hearted is a treasure and although I'm not usually a fan of romance, I have to say that this is one of my favourite books of 2017 so far. I can't wait to order a print copy when this is released in a few weeks.
I must say, the title definitely fits the story. My emotions were like a roller coaster, all over the place. Emily experiences a husband who can't seem to be faithful, leaves her, and strings her along again. To be honest, I disliked Bruce very much. She looses her best friend, but in the end, you realize everything happens for a reason; such as meeting Drew and Jace. It's funny how much hatred I held toward Brice, yet at the end, felt bad for his situation. Emily endures so much but still finds the strength to forgive those who caused her pain. She's one hell of a character.

An emotional ride. Loss, love, hurt, happiness etc. Whew that was a ride. Couldnt put the book down. Mentally talking to the people in the book. Two thumbs up. Thank you for writing cant wait to read another one.
Bella Emy has written a literate, touching story. Bruce is someone I could strangle, gladly, with his sophomoric approaches to love and marriage. Em is touchingly vulnerable, trusting. Have is a delight. The growth of Em from wronged victim to victorious woman, in charge of her own destiny and choices lovely. Recommended.
Every book of Bella Emy’s that I have read I have just instantly fallen in love with, she knows how to write characters that you can’t help but find likeable/ loveable. The plot is always catchy, and you can’t help but get so lost into it that by the time you’ve gotten to the end you feel that slight bit of disappointment that there’s no more to the story. When that happens you know for a fact that Bella has done a great job of capturing her readers attention. This time I was really intrigued by how this book would go because the title had me as soon as I saw it. The plot was pretty good, the storyline easy to follow and the characters were written pretty well. I do have to say that it did take me a while to get into the story, there was nothing wrong with the story at all, but I did find Emily to be a little weak, but as the story progressed I saw a magnificent change in her. Normally when I read that the female lead is a little weak it does tend to annoy me, I have no idea why but it just normally does but Bella managed to turn it around for me and I found myself loving how strong Emily became in the story. Whilst it did take me a while to get into the story I was still intrigued by what was going to happen, Bella managed to spark my curiosity and did it pretty well. Being honest when I started reading this story I had a feeling it was going to go one way but with every turn Bella managed to shock and surprise me which was a good thing because I love it when an author can just catch you off guard like that. Overall it was a good book and I am so glad that I had the chance to read it, this book will seriously pull at your emotions, so if you love books that can do that, then this is seriously the book for you. Bella never disappoints, so make sure you give her work a try.
Emily had it all, the perfect life, the perfect husband, a job that she loved but little did she know that her life was to be turned upside down. She wouldn’t have traded it for anything, but as we all know life doesn’t always work out the way it does…
This book follows a young woman, Emily through a poignant journey of betrayal, loss, grief, trust and rescue as she navigates a painful episode in her life which brings into question all her ideas about true love. A tale spanning two years, from the moment Emily's husband, Bruce, informs her their marriage is over, to the moment we see how fate deals with the louses of this world.
Unaware her husband - who has been having affairs for years and is very good at juggling his many women - wants out of their marriage, Emily is, understandably, devastated, when she hears his declaration, and for several months feels as though she has been flattened by a steam roller. Thankfully, the love and support she needs to get through the heartbreak comes from her brother and his family as well as her best friend, Hannah; she has a job she enjoys and slowly, very slowly Emily's heart begins to heal.
A tragedy, a re-kindled love, the realisation leopards never change their spots and an unexpected encounter are woven into this riveting tale, which runs a whole gamut of emotions and is cleverly brought full circle.
Bella Emy has gathered together a wonderfully diverse set of characters, whose struggles with the obstacles life throws at us are all too real. I laughed and I cried. I wanted to slap Bruce and was frustrated with Emily's gullibility - yet sympathised with her hope she hadn't thrown her love away on a man who didn't deserve it. This is a beautifully written novel, which tugs on the heartstrings without wallowing. I have no hesitation in giving this book 5 stars!
I'm going to write this review with a lot of spoilers so beware.
This book was littered with cheaters and death and the author, Bella Emy, writes them in when you don't expect it. My jaw hit the floor a few times.
Besides the dark, sad and depressing times, there is a touch of sensual and happy. Don't forget this is a romance, so of course there is love, the good kind and bad. Bella tells the story so we get hints of everyone's thoughts. This made the dark secrets that much more powerful when revealed. Which is fine with me because it gives the characters depth.
I was very torn on this review, since the idea for this book is different than others I've read in the romance genre and written in a refreshing way.
But (and that's a big but) it is what I call a green story. There's many places a good edit would have helped. It's also in need of help with structure too. Simple quick fixes would have made a big difference. For example, in sentences such as this one. "Bruce came to Emily's side as he quickly ran right to her rescue and grabbed her right before she hit the ground."

I was quite thrilled when the author reached out to me and asked if I'd be interested in reading her book. Well I just absolutely love discovering new authors so I was all in.
Brokenhearted was quite an engaging read. Emily is filled with complete bliss with her life & marriage to her husband Bruce. Emily's world is turned upside down when she is blindsided when Bruce tells her he wants a divorce. She doesn't feel she will ever be able to move on & feels stuck in limbo.
Bruce decides to try to win Emily back but are his intentions true? Emily feels like things were never interrupted and that their life can get back on track & continue as if nothing ever happened. Sadly Emily is in for more heartache.
Emily's life soon becomes entangled with a handsome stranger & they both feel an inexplicable pull towards each other. Jace feels that Emily is the thing that has always been missing in his life but can they move forward when a secret is revealed and hearts are broken.
"In a lifetime, we may love more than once, but our true love isn't always our first love. Remember that."
I am very much looking forward to reading other works by Ms. Emy.
** Received a copy from author. This review is my own true thoughts & opinion of the book. **
I have to say I was truly pleased with Brokenhearted by Bella Emy. This book had all the "feels" a good book should have. I laughed, I cried, I got very angry and I felt my heart melt when Jace walked into Emily's life.
Emily thought she had the perfect marriage and a man who loved her and would grow old with her. However Bruce didn't feel the same and he outgrew his wife and went looking for more and this left Emily Brokenhearted. Even though she was angry at him for hurting her so badly she always felt that maybe he would come home to her again. It took a tragedy, another broken heart and the love of a stranger to mend Emily's heart. Reading this journey that Emily had went through was something that can happen to all of us so I found myself feeling all the hurt and the pain she felt. Then when she met Jace I felt all the hope and the love that was shared. But when something's unexpected is thrown into the mix my emotions went all over the place.
A very real, very heartfelt book about the struggles in life to find love and happiness. I will definitely be reading more from this gifted writer.
This is the first book by Bella Emy that I have read and I must say I was totally engrossed in this story. I was gifted this book by the author for my voluntarily and honest written review. The story is full of, betrayal, loss, manipulation, forgiveness, tragedy, sympathy, family, trust, infidelity, friendship, commitment, heartbreak, sadness, change, but most of all LOVE. You will have so many feeling during the reading of this book and want to yell at Emily to open her eyes at times. Love the ending and all I will say is Karma is a B****th for some. Bella Emy is a great storyteller and I completely enjoyed her writing style and her plot was full of twists and turns with real emotions. My full review at www.readingfortheloveofbooks.com
This story was very bittersweet. At first it was ruled by heartbreak with Bruce and his womanising ways that broke Emilys heart. He was lucky to get a second chance, but he quickly blew that too. Luckily, Emily grew a backbone and stood up for herself. I was tempted to jump into this story and put her straight, but love is blind right?
Then came even more heartbreak in the form of her best friend, Hannah. It was really emotionally. But through this storm, came a ray of sunshine. The lovely Jace was introduced.
The sparks fly, the chemistry is sizzling and love is in the air. But not just any love, the butterfly kind. It was lovely to see happiness in a tough situations.
With plenty of twists and turns, this story is bound to keep to hooked. Great read.
Wow, just wow! The emotions this book brought out of me. Emily starts out utterly in naive bliss with her husband Bruce. After a sequence of events occur she finds herself living an entirely different life. Things unfold that Emily is not prepared for, but her family supports her and her new journey. When Emily meets Jace, she swoons and I swooned right along with her. Jace is dreamy, sweet and every woman's dream man. When his past comes back to haunt the both of them my heart ached but I rooted for the couple all along. This is the first book I have read from this author and I will definitely be reading more.
This book was definitely a mountain of emotions, they were very raw and helped with the overall plot. Emily suffered a lot which in return made me feel bad for her. I didn't really like Bruce and I was honestly happy that the author decided to use some humor to take away most of the dark moments in the book. You see a lot of different forms of emotion like betrayal but you also see trust and love. I never read a book by Bella Emy until this book and I liked it to say the least. Emily has matured a lot in terms of her character because before she was young and more easily manipulated. This book pulled me in with its story plot and characters. I would recommend this book definitely if you don't mind angsty books that also provide a hope to the main characters.
Wow! The feelings that Bella was able to evoke took me through a Rollercoaster of emotions from anger, to sadness and grief up to the heights of love. I thoroughly enjoyed the tale and the twists to Emily finally meeting her one true love and how they worked through a incredible hurdle to build her brokenhearted life through to one of joy and happiness, confidence and love. A must read for anyone who had had their heart broken from the loss of a partner to a loss of a family member and the loss of a close friend. Thank you Bella for reminding me how it feels to be strong again.
Wow….it has been a while since my emotions have been on a ride like that. Brokenhearted had my emotions all over the place. Emily faces an unfaithful husband, who can't seem to make up his mind about what he wants. She faces so many struggles, I do now know how she keeps on. She faces loss, heartache, and events from her past that come back. She is an amazing character. Everything she goes through happens for a reason. I don't want to give too much away and ruin the story, but this is a MUST read. This is my first book from Bella Emy and it will not be my last!!!
Wow what an intense story. Poor sweet Emily has been dealt a horrible hand and it just keeps getting worse. Emily had my empathy throughout the whole book as Bruce did not. Lol he is not a good guy at all. He just kept messing up. It was great to see Emily slowly get stronger and stronger. But she thinks with her heart and this is where some problems occur.
Emily is a wonderful character. She is sweet, honest, loving, selfless, loyal, strong, and a marvelous aunt. Her bond with her nephew had me smiling often.
omg this had me in absolute tears how much heartbreak can one woman go through emilys journey she learned important lessons after her husband bruce left her for another woman can and would emily trust what she finds along the way the book worth the read and worth the tears and definitely a highly recommended read
This book brought out so many emotions for me. I am an optimist, and I really was routing for Emily and Bruce to be able to make their relationship work. I can't believe what a jerk Bruce actually was. Emily definitely deserved better. I enjoyed this story, with the variety of good, bad and tragedy combined. It is definitely worth reading.I look forward to reading more from Bella Emy.
Really enjoyed this emotional story of Emily who's husband Bruce leaves her to pick up the pieces after no longer wanting to be married a coincidence brings her to meet another man , Jace who has his own secrets and helps her see that she deserves so much more than her ex husband and his manipulative ways!!
So many emotional ups and downs happened in this book, I am still reeling from it all! It is a fantastic, well-written, compelling, emotionally deep and amazing book that completely blew me away. At this time all that is left for me to say is AMAZING!! Get a copy, I guarantee you will not regret it! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
".....our true love isn’t always our first love." This is a story full of heartache, loss, brokenness, hope, love, and destiny! I feel a good book is one that keeps you turning the page, wondering what is going to happen next. This book did just that! A great read! I was not disappointed.
I wasn't sure this was my type of book as I started to read it. Then I was sucked into the world that is Emily and Bruce. The book definitely has it's ups and downs. You will feel and love with these characters. A must read.
Beautiful story! I hate Bruce so much, and enjoyed reading Emily's character becoming a strong individual. I had tears in my eyes towards the end, great job on this book! <3
This was my 3rd book by this author & I have to say this was my absolute favorite! This book was a nice and easy read and kept you on your toes the entire time. A few twist and turns I totally did not expect. Definitely worth reading!
