Soulmates Through Time #2

Time Travel and Teacups

Never take candy—or enchanted jewelry—from strangers.

When a vintage necklace hurls me through time, a girls' weekend becomes a one-way trip to 1901 California.

In order to survive and fund a plan to go back home, I land a highly sought out position as a waitress at the Barstow Harvey House. As a Harvey Girl, I am provided room, board, a salary, and the most infuriating man of all time—Jake Montgomery.

Jake’s drop-dead gorgeous looks are drowned out by his temper, arrogance, and putrid personality. As my reluctant boss, he is determined to see me fail. Failure is not an option. Our heads clash at every interaction. He drives me crazy, but so do his talented lips.

When circumstances force us together, he becomes a raging jackhammer in my plans. My world is upside down and going home is my endgame. Or is it?

Do yourself a favor; never take enchanted jewelry.

If you love enemies to lovers, sizzling tension, and historical hijinks with a modern twist, you’ll devour this time-tangled rom-com in one sitting.

👉 Buy it now… because your next book boyfriend wears suspenders.

Not for me

I love historical fiction that illuminates other times and leaves me feeling that I’ve traveled distant times and places. The leading lady of this novel failed to enchant. For a supposedly well-educated, extremely successful marketing mogul, she behaved like a hormonal teenaged banshee in situations that called on her to be quick on the uptake and wise in her responses. I won’t read anything further from this writer. But if you enjoy it, good for you!

This book had an okay start, a good premise, but it made me so unbelievably mad! 😭😵‍💫

I got 70% of the way through, but Ella correcting Jake about what term he could use to describe *himself* was the last straw. She was infuriating.

Ella sucked: a know-it-all, always right/could never be wrong, entitled, social justice warrior.
Jake behaved as if he were secretly played by identical triplets, his personality changed so much. I was given no reason to care for him or like him. He might as well have been a lamp 🤷‍♀️

And their romance was creepy and sudden and didn't seem at all appropriate -- that he would kiss her suddenly seconds after saying he wouldn't pry into his employee's private affairs?! And then stripping in front of her??! What the heck, guy, this is 1901, she might be worldly in modern day standards, but you aren't!

Adam was such a stupid, moustache twirling villain, and his motivation was nonsense. Such a waste.
And all the other supporting characters were uninspired or confusing and/or ridiculous.

The dialogue was not good. I'm not at all saying this book was written with AI, I have no idea about that, but the dialogue read like AI. Stilted, clunky, so many words were out of order, there were very few contractions, weird word choices, and more I know I'm forgetting. It was really difficult to imagine anyone talking like that, at any point in time.

I'm so mad I wasted so much time on this, hoping it would get better 🫠

I had such a great time with Time Travel and Teacups. Natalia is back, and this time she’s stuck in 1901 California dealing with corsets, cranky bosses, and no idea how to play by Old West rules. Her banter with Jake Montgomery is sharp and often hilarious—he’s equal parts frustrating and intriguing, which is exactly the kind of mess I love to read about. Their chemistry feels genuine and earned, especially as the sparks start flying in more ways than one.

What I appreciated most was how this book balanced tension and tenderness. Natalia’s struggle between finding a way home and possibly finding something worth staying for had me rooting for her all the way through. If you're a sucker for time travel romance like I am (thank you, Outlander), this one delivers. It’s a great addition to your book collection.
Happy Reading... enjoy!

Love this series. May has a way of incorporating the past into the future and the future into the past. Humour abound. You can easily put yourself into the storyline and live vicariously through the characters

This is a fun read. FMC travels back in time and ends up meeting her soul mate. It’s neat to read about a modern woman in past society with her modern views. A good book for a cozy weekend. I highly recommend.

Easy read!

I loved this book! Romance and intrigue with a twist here and there! I wasn’t sure I would like it at first. Mainly because I don’t care for SiFi types, but this wasn’t like that at all.

This was a really fun story, as was the first in the series. You can learn a lot about previous times. Looking forward to reading the next.
