Shivangi Sharma co-authored the travel anthology 'Dutched Up', which The Wall Street Journal named one of the top travel books of 2015. Motherhood transformed her and inspired her to write 'I Made a Booboo', a humorous and heartfelt book about parenting.
She also authored the children's book 'Burger Planet'. In 2024, she will release two new books: 'Time to Come Home', a spiritual poetry collection, and 'Pizza Planet', a sequel to 'Burger Planet'.
Shivangi lives in Amsterdam with her family in a house full of books.
Pizza Planet is an absolute treat — fun, clever, and full of heart from the very first page. This story is everything early readers love: a little adventure, a lot of humor, and a message about belonging that lands in the sweetest way. It’s the kind of book kids want to read again just to revisit their favorite characters (and maybe because it makes them crave pizza!).
The author does a wonderful job blending silliness with meaning. Beneath the fun and all the yummy pizza moments, there’s a real message about finding your place and discovering that who you are is more important than trying to fit in. For ages 6–10, this hits that perfect middle ground — entertaining enough to keep them laughing, and thoughtful enough to spark real conversation.
The illustrations add so much charm, color, and personality. Every page feels lively and fun, and the whole world of Pizza Planet comes to life in a way that makes reading feel like play. My little one was completely hooked — and declared it a “must-read again tomorrow” book.
A wonderful early reader story with humor, heart, and so much imagination. Highly recommended for classrooms, bedtime, and anyone who loves a story that celebrates belonging in the most delicious way.
This charming children’s book serves up a delightful story set on Pizza Planet, where all the toppings live together in cheesy harmony until something unexpected arrives, pineapple. But with the help of kind, open-minded olives, pineapple gets a chance to be part of the pizzas.
The story is whimsical and imaginative, using food characters to teach an important lesson about diversity, acceptance, and trying new things. The message is clear and child-friendly that everyone has something special to offer, and sometimes the best surprises come from the most unexpected places. A perfect read for kids and a fun one for adults too!
Pizza Planet is an absolute delight My kids were laughing nonstop at the puns, silly characters, and colorful illustrations, and I found myself giggling right along with them. The world-building is so creative Mozzarella Mountains, the Sauce Sea, and Cheese Canals it’s the kind of imaginative setting that makes kids’ eyes light up.
What really makes this book shine, though, is its message. Beneath all the cheesy jokes and fun food adventures is a heartfelt story about inclusivity, kindness, and appreciating differences. The characters’ journey from rejecting someone new to realizing they’re stronger and tastier together is a lesson kids can carry into their everyday lives.
The dialogue is easy to follow, perfect for early readers ready to take off on their own, but it’s also ideal for bedtime stories or classroom read-alouds. The bonus activities at the end were a wonderful surprise my kids loved them.
Beneath all the fun lies a meaningful message: the importance of acceptance and inclusivity. When a new “topping” wants to join the Pizza Planet crew and is initially turned away, the characters must learn that differences don’t divide us—they make life (and pizza!) richer and more magical. The full-color illustrations on every page bring this cheesy universe to life beautifully, while the bonus activities at the end add an extra layer of engagement and fun. Overall, Pizza Planet is an excellent pick for family reading, classroom shelves, or any young reader who loves jokes, food-themed adventures, or bright, imaginative storytelling. It entertains, teaches, and leaves behind a warm, gooey feeling—just like the perfect slice of pizza.
This book is a lot of fun. Kids will laugh at the silly pizza puns from the first page. Pizza Planet has bright, colorful pictures and a story that keeps bedtime reading light and funny. The characters like Pepperoni Pirate and Bella Pepper are silly and funny. I also like that it sneaks in a good message about including everyone without being preachy. It's a good bedtime read.
If your child likes pizza or just funny books with a positive lesson, this one is worth adding to your library. There’s a lot of text on the page so it’s meant to be read by adults to children, but overall kids probably won’t notice or mind.
Also, there are 2 activity pages at the end of the book.
This is the second book in the Hungry Way series, after Burger Planet and both books totally made me hungry. This is an engaging story that combines humor with meaningful messages. It has vibrant illustrations that keep the reader's attention.
