Tea Medicine is an exploration of health and healing through shared Tea sessions. In this seminal work, we come calling like students at the master’s door. And Tea responds. The aim of this book was to recreate what it’s like to be a Tea apprentice, as far as the written word can capture. In each session, the reader arrives to share some Tea and another lesson.
If you love tea, this is definitely a must-read. Aaron (Wu De) does an incredible job bringing together all the themes that underline his tea Tradition.
I've been part of Global Tea Hut for a while now, so for me, many of these topics aren't new, however, it's always good to read them over again.
If anything, it felt a little redundant at times, as well as a little forceful. If you don't like proselytism definitely skip this book. I don't mind it, as Wu De isn't forcing anyone to read the book. Nonetheless, it's interesting because other writings at Global Tea Hut don't feel so forceful. I'm guessing that Wu De came a long way since he published this book in 2014, and the message feels more rounded and smooth now than it did back then.
All this said (which is more of a personal thing and nothing about the book per se), if you like tea, Zen, nature, and spirituality, this is a book that will resonate powerfully.
This book is truly nourishing, like a bowl of tea. Words that soothe, inspire and enliven the soul with many practical tips and philosophical evidence for tea as plant medicine that predates almost any modern form. A book to return to again and again!
This book was about so much more then tea. At first glance you may think this book is about how to use tea to heal you physically but it is the complete opposite. It is a beautiful written book about what it really means to be healthy. There is so much value in this book, it uses the ancient knowledge of tea and the art of tea brewing to portray these truly humbling and unifying lessons. I find myself quoting this book in my day to day life.
A reverie of insights and honoring about ceremonial life by looking at water, fire, breath and nature, and how it plays plays integral part in how we medicate our woes. I took to the book in mornings before sitting down for my own practice to gauge and reflect with the prompts and to learn how to become a student of life's obstacles and joys.
This is an amazing tribute to tea as a medicinal and transformative beverage a beautiful ceremony and a simple but profound philosophy. This is a book about tea as a plant ally.
This book is perfect for those wanting to deepen their tea practice. The format was great for reading during tea. I loved it and I will re-read it over and over again. Thank you Wu De!
