She never meant to be noticed, but he’s been watching her all along.
Sierra
I keep my head down, my voice low, and my walls high.
I was the quiet one. The too-sensitive one. The girl who was always too much or not enough. I learned early to make myself small and disappear, but a dangerous boxer managed to see through my quiet.
He listens when no one else has. He doesn’t ask me to be louder, braver, or tougher than I am. And when my world starts to crumble, he’s the steady ground beneath my feet, holding me together with everything he has.
Falling for Connor means finding my voice, even when it terrifies me.
Connor
Sierra is everything I never had and everything I never imagined would be mine. She's soft, sweet, and so careful. A girl with anxious eyes and a heart too big for a world that’s been too cruel.
I watch her, I protect her, and I memorize every breath she takes. The world calls me “Killer,” the heavyweight champion who never loses control. But with Sierra, losing is impossible. She’s the only softness I’ll fight for, no matter the risk.
She thinks she’s invisible, but I see her. I feel her, and I’ll never let her go.
Undisputed Champion features Connor Graves and Sierra Willows. This dark romance contains themes of obsessive behavior and morally gray characters who will do anything for those they consider theirs. HEA guaranteed!
I am kind of disappointed with this one. So many things I didn't like but I am too tired to write a decent review so these are just some random thoughts I had while reading the book.
Connor is a big badass morally gray boxer. He's grumpy, broody and hostile to everyone except his teammates/brothers.
He sees Sierra and is immediately obsessed.
Sierra is a weak, meek, spineless scaredy cat. She has been mentally abused by her stepdad and becomes an anxious little mouse with too many panic attacks to count.
Throughout the book, Connor constantly takes care of her, helping her breathe, putting her to sleep, hiding her in his big wide chest and glaring at anyone and everything that causes her a panic attack, which by the end of the book amount to around 5437 times 🙄
I am not belittling her situation, I know from personal experience pretty well how devastating anxiety and panic attacks can be. But unlike Sierra here I actually did everything in my power to get out of the black hole I've been drowning in, She didn't! She completely relied on Connor to keep her safe and fight her demons for her. I don't even get what drew him to her in the first place. She brings absolutely nothing to the relationship. She spent half of the book sleeping and the other half cowering.
On the other hand, the author went above and beyond trying to paint Connor as the perfect guy, too attentive, extremely patient, unconditional carer, dropping everything at the sound of her breathlessness, throwing his career and achievements out the window... well you get the idea.
And then the author inserts the villains.
Villain number 1, Sierra's stepdad who we are told has been mentally abusive to her by telling her to keep quiet and bringing his friends to look at her! 🤦♀️
Villain number 2, a former boxer whom Connor fought against 10 years ago when he was merely 16 years old and almost put him 6 feet under. The villain has been trying to grab onto life with endless reconstructive surgeries, mental therapy and side jobs to keep him afloat.
Villain 1 and 2 work together to bring Connor down. Connor recruits his teammates who suddenly turn from mere boxers to professional hackers, experienced stalkers (the whole nine yards with planted cameras and footage retrieved anywhere she is), mafia enforcers with a nick for torture oh and not to forget their flawless break ins anywhere and everywhere 😆
But what rubbed me the wrong way is the torture they submit villain 1 and 2 to, I mean yes they are assholes but I don't get why you are turning full on savage monsters on them, especially villain 2 the poor guy did nothing wrong.
Anyway, it was all too surface level for my own liking and 3/4 of the book was spent in Connor's penthouse making tea for Sierra who slept all the time in every nick and corner, pleasuring her with oral sex, looking at her while she sleeps and making food.
And as her breathing deepened again, I made a silent vow. Jerry would die, the footage would disappear, and Sierra would never, ever know what kind of monster she'd been trusting. Because sometimes, monsters were exactly what good girls needed to keep them safe.
Yup that summed it up pretty well....

I can’t believe this was a debut novel. It was so freaking good. Every single introverted bookish girlie will salivate over this book.
Connor is an undisputed, heavyweight champion who is grumpy and broody. Sierra is a shy, skittish librarian who has a less than desirable past and lives a quiet life with her cat Toffee. These two meet by pure chance and after just one look at her, he’s a goner. He stalks her and finds out everything he can about her. Her lines, dislikes, life in general. It’s actually very swoony the things he does for her and the lengths he goes too. While this is uber romantic and Connor is just too hot for words, there is also darkness and suspense. I really enjoyed this and could not put it down. I loved Sierra too because I love soft, feminine fmc’s and if you know me, you know that I have a hard time liking most fmc’s because I don’t like self-righteous, b!tchy females in books. So this was perfect. Strong, alpha, protective mmc and a sweet, feminine, fmc. Connor is my dream man and I can’t wait for the next books in this series. But I’m not sure if you can top him lol.
-Dual pov -h23, H26 -Insta love -Virgin fmc, not a manwhore mmc- no details about his past at all, no exes or past hookups mentioned or appear. -Safe no omd/owd at all 🙌🏻👏🏻 -HFN -Epilogue is a few months later, they’re living together and happy.
I would have liked to at least see them get engaged though, but the mmcs 2 best friends are the next 2 books so maybe we’ll see more of Sierra and Connor.
I literally made an account just to review this debut. And WOW!!!!
ALL BOOK LOVERS NEED TO READ THIS. THE FMC IS ONE OF US AND LITERALLY LIVES OUT OUR DREAMS.
⭐️ Boxing romance ⭐️ Praise kink ⭐️ Size difference ⭐️ Daddy kink ⭐️ Love at first sight ⭐️ STEAMY
Connor is EVERYTHING ITS AMAZING. And Sierra’s anxiety was written so well she’s the sweetest!!! <3
Sierra is an anxious librarian with a rough childhood, and Connor is a RICH and FAMOUS boxer. He’s literally HUGE and tattooed and omg. He will do literally anything for her, she’s his entire world and more. I love that the author doesn’t have him do anything technically bad to keep her, which is sometimes done. He just does everything to keep her happy and keep her as HIS.
The writing was so good for a debut, I can’t get over it. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Jax and Adrian, and especially to see more of Connor and Sierra!
I really can’t get over how well Sierra was written and how her anxieties were present/how it affected her through the different scenes. Especially the litter box scene with Toffee, I felt so seen.
And Connor, loving her beyond her anxiety and everything, and never forcing her to do anything she’s uncomfortable with, UGH!!!! I’m in love.
The smut too, oh my god. Daddy-kink WHO???? Connor is a man of PRAISE. He gives her what she wants and then a little more, and Sierra is so eager to reciprocate and love him right back, anxieties and all. The tension was so good, the way he pulls her in and touches her and WORSHIPS her is soooooo freaking good I cannot even describe it.
Connor is literally my new book boyfriend and that’s FINAL. Him and his alpha-energy, FAT wallet, and muscular tattooed self. Yes.
Godddd I could reread this so many times, Connor’s lines and personality are so funny for no reason, and I love his broody aura and CARETAKING of Sierra!!!
This is insane for a debut and I cannot waaaait to reread anything else this author writes omg.
And omg. The revenge scene was actually written out in detail and not just skimmed over, like it wasn’t just 🔪. That was so FUN I can’t wait for moreeeeee!
Jax’s preview was also SO GOOD I can’t wait to see what’s this cocky blonde playboy has in store for his girl!!!
"What if someone saw me, really saw me, and didn't look away?" - Undisputed Champion is an engaging read . A little bit of a Beauty and the Beast re-imagining, Undisputed Champion gives us a socially shy and anxious FMC Sierra, just doing her best to make it thru everyday life being unnoticed and trying to avoid having to interact with other humans and Connor, the championship boxer MMC who spies Sierra in line at a romance book signing he was dragged to and falls into obsession at first sight and does everything in his power to make the girl his after that. We get to watch Connor do everything (legal or not ) he can to both protect Sierra and inspire in her the self-confidence she's in dire need of. The spice is a slow-build, but definitely there between Sierra and Connor. The slow burn to their relationship is achingly perfect for them.
If you love a morally gray - protect her at all costs who throws :touch her and die" vibes around like confetti, and a heroine who has to overcome her self doubt along with an abusive past, Undisputed Champion is definitely recommended! I can't wait to see Book 2 where Connor's best friend Jax meets his match.
**I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Gonna be completely honest here, I’ve never felt more called out by a female main character than I have by Sierra. I know what those panic attacks feel like, not from a parent but an ex, watching her grow and deal with her emotions while having Connor to fall back on made me tear up a little. How many pages do I have bookmarked? Yes. I love Jax don’t get me wrong but it’s Adrien’s story I want. He was my favorite, other than Toffee, of course!
This shit was boring 😴 it was the same thing over and over and I didn’t even read that much. It was way too instalove by the H who likes this panic attack, shy librarian. There’s no real substance to this relationship and no chemistry.
I love a good shy h, but she was like dried mud 😂😂🥴🥴
I already know she had a lot of arc readers based on the crazy amount of 5 star reads on this with glowing reviews 🙂↔️🙂↔️nah bro.
“Undisputed Champion” is the story of Sierra and Connor.
Shy, meek, afraid librarian meets the big, burly, obsessed fighter who is smitten with her. The book has him falling in love with her instantly, courting her, eliminating her demons and then reaching their happy ending.
This was annoying. Mostly because it *could* have been good.
I’m not terribly bothered by insta-love, but this was insta love and nothing else. Sierra and Connor never talk, never get to know each other. We the reader know nothing about them. We don’t know about their histories, parents, ethnic backgrounds, anything. Sierra is described as having “dark caramel skin”, why? Is she mixed race? South Asian? Colombian? We know her creepy stepdad, but what about her mom? Why does she love to read so much? Does Connor have parents? Siblings? How did he start fighting? We know NOTHING until the very end of the book when he reveals he starts fighting to escape foster care. Shouldn’t that have been an earlier conversation? We don’t really know anything about what Jerry even did to her. She mentions that he yelled and “made her feel small” but what does that mean? Would that alone really make her so afraid of her own shadow?
We know Sierra cannot freaking speak without having an anxiety attack and is a super tiny teeny tiny perfect-breasted tiny short girl who is so tiny that she can sit on his arm like a perched parrot. She flinches and whimpers if there is a breeze on a sunny day, and can’t handle anyone existing near her. But she is “absolute perfection” and has the tiniest pussy and is so tiny and is flawless and tiny and apparently he likes that.
We know Connor is a 6’5” hot guy who say “sweet girl” 132 times (yes ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-TWO TIMES according to the kindle app) but doesn’t bother to get to know ANYTHING about her.
When they first text you’re really gonna tell me he doesn’t want to converse with her? He just says “lock the door” then it’s done and they stop? Who does that?
Then we get a tiny bit of conversation between Sierra and his friends on the plane. They make more effort to getting to know her than Connor does.
All he does is patronize her and basically talk to her like she is a baby. It’s so weird. The occasional “good girl” can be sexy but my gosh this guy says it every other sentence so it just comes off as patronizing and creepy. She IS a grown woman with a job and an apartment. She is clearly a functioning adult. She doesn’t need praise just for walking in a straight line with her eyes forward.
But he does spend a solid chunk of the book trying to HIDE AND LIE about important aspects of his history. Solid relationship building!! And I’m sorry but when Sierra finally finds out about the video she acts so stupid about it. She is so overdramatic and then suddenly Connor sings her praises about her strength, she’s not strong at all, she’s an absolute blithering idiot.
And idk if this is marketed as a dark romance but suddenly 80% throught he book we get crazy murder and torture scenes, which didn’t bother me but came out of nowhere.
2 teeny tiny Sierra sized stars because the happy ending was nice and I always appreciate a good ending.
Like I said, this COULD have been good. But instead it was dumb. These characters could have been deep and meaningful but they were one-dimensional and had zero depth.
When I tell you I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when seeing this was a DEBUT 😮😮 There is no way! Renée girl, you killed this one! (slight pun intended 🤣) I couldn’t/didn’t want to put this one down! I loved all the characters, the story line kept me hooked and the end was just YESSSSS! I would have read 200 more pages of these two! 🥰😍
Connor is a grumpy, broody, tall, handsome, confident heavyweight champion. Sierra is a shy, meek, skittish, anxious, beautiful librarian. The universe crosses their paths by chance and Connor falls, hard. I love how he went out of his way to learn everything about her! I mean the Pinterest boards!? Come onnnn 🥰🥹 I love me a morally grey MMC and Connor is just that. He stalks Sierra to find out everything about her and I’m here for it! He even goes out of his way to make Toffee, Sierra’s cat, like him. ❤️
“What if someone saw me, really saw me and didn’t look away?” Sierra hasn’t had the best life and tends to keep to herself. She just keeps to herself with her cat and books. She doesn’t believe she’s ever going to find love like her romance novels. But Connor was set on changing that. I loved watching her character grow and seeing how Connor dragged her out of her shell. 🥰
I absolutely loved this book and Connor may be my new favorite book boyfriend! 😏 I didn’t even know I needed boxing romances added to tropes I love but here we are 🤣 If you love morally grey men, possessive, “touch her and die” vibes, this one is definitely for you! I CANNOT wait for Jax’s story!! 😍
UNDISPUTED MMC Conner "Killer" Graves is now my number 1 book boyfriend. Ok now that's out of the way - I LOVED this book - I'd give it more stars if I could! MMC Conner - (professional boxer with a troubled past) - gets insta-stalker when he meets FMC Sierra (shy, anxiety ridden also fighting her traumatic past) at a romance book signing event he's attending with his two besties/chosen brothers. Yes, I love a good stalker book, but this was like a whole different level. The man dove into her Pinterest and her Goodreads and then showed up reading one of the books she reviewed!! I devoured this book in less than 24 hours and I'm only mad that it ended and I gotta wat for the next installment. Yes, Conner and his friends do some morally grey stuff here - but that's the best part of stalker romances IMO. And ultimately it was about taking care of Sierra. And my second favorite part - just when I thought there was going to be a second act break up/third act reconciliation there wasn't it! (It's like my least favorite thing to read) There are some really sweet moments between the MMC and FMC, the spice was well written but mild, I enjoyed the boxing scenes and the MMC's best friends and Toffee the cat were great supporting cast! I'm so grateful to the author for a chance to ARC read and I can't wait for more - because we've ALREADY met the next to MMC's! Thank you to the author for a chance to be an ARC reader!!
Where do I begin?! If you are looking for a grumpy boxer and shy / anxious librarian this is your book. The story begins with a quick prolong that makes the story start off already having the reader engaged and then we have the 3 boxer friends, who had me giggling since chapter 1. I was telling myself how am I already giggling within the first few pages, that’s how I know this book is good. When we were told we had big buff boxer dudes standing in line for a book signing filled with females I was dying. This book is the definition of he falls first and fast and he is so so patient with Sierra and never expects more from her than what he can give. Conner, comes from humble beginnings and has able to become a successful heavyweight champion and is not shy to share his wealth. I truly loved all the acts of kindness that Conner did throughout the book without any expectations. Conner has the best of friends and I appreciate how they all welcomed Sierra as part of their family so quickly.
This book was giving, romantic comedy with some found family, vibes. This is a book everyone should read this summer. Thank you Renee Mo for the ARC.
SLOW BURN warning was really not expecting this to be a slow burn with only 100% full consent like the amount of consent is 🙄 even in real life I would hate this much consent.
I am being really nice and giving this 3stars because it’s a new author but this is definitely a 2 star for me.
From early on there are story structure and pace issues but I liked it enough I decided to stick with it. Then at 65% I realized what a slow burn this was and I was over it. I did read some but I skimmed a lot. The ending follows the same structure and pace issues.
There are two extremely long epilogues neither of which adds to the story in any way.
By the end I seriously regretted reading this. I believe the author will grow and get better but this slow burn extreme consent is a deal breaker for me.
This was the first book I have explored by this author, and I can confidently say that I’m now an enthusiastic fan! I delved into this captivating story just a week before the release of the next two installments, and the anticipation is almost overwhelming! The characters, Conor and Sierra, were portrayed with such warmth and charm that I found myself rooting for them throughout their journey. Their relationship was a wonderful blend of affection and resilience, even as they navigated through the darker themes contained in the plot.
I was also enchanted by the side characters, each thoughtfully developed and contributing to their vibrant close-knit friendship. I am eagerly looking forward to diving into the stories of the other characters, as I am sure they will be just as compelling!
This also was my first dive into a boxing romance, and it was such a fun ride! It definitely brought the heat and kept me hooked with all the exciting moments and chemistry between the characters.
Oh my world!! Found new author for my favorite list! Writing style, story, characters and details were so good and everything! Such a good book! Connor, well hello, absolutely loved him! Broody, hot, dangerous and yet sweet, such an amazing packet! Sierra, such a sweet little girl and her cat Toffee, so cute! Andrian and Jax, loved them too! They were fun, hot too, obiously, and so sweet! That nickname for sierra, Bee, how cute is that! I really need friends like that, or boyfriend, either is good with me! This book had me from the first page! There is love, hurt, trauma, violence and spice, i mean what else would you want! Absolutely in love right now and so gonna read the other books too, i have to!
thank you to renee mo for an arc of this book. all opinions are my own. ♡
₊˚⊹⋆ first thoughts: a big bad boxer brought to his knees by a woman: fuck yeah ₊˚⊹⋆ final thoughts: 3.75 rounded! intense take on grumpy x sunshine trope with some giggle-able scenes. i will admit some of the spicy scenes were not my cup of tea, but alas ppl like what they like and it wasn't awful. connor's intense personality is just that: intense. his possessiveness gave me the ick at times but story wise i'm glad sierra was into it. really enjoyed the revenge side of the story and defending his woman from a punk ass b*tch <3

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spicy: 🌶️🌶️
It was pleasant and an easy read.
The book follows Connor (MMC) a professional Boxer and Sierra (FMC) a shy/ anxious Librarian. Their worlds cross when Connor went to a book event with his friend.
I was really drawn in at first but towards the middle I struggled to finish, I felt it lacking. I wish they would have spoken more about their pasts. It just missed its mark in certain parts.
The book is incredible to read how Sierra is having her own development growing and becoming stronger but keeping her initial tenderness is something wonderful to see the girl with deep wounds being loved and protected by Connor who is the representation of protection and veneration for the woman she loves is simply beautiful and precious to find a person who burned the world for you was all the book gave to see how her love was growing, seeing how Connor accompanied her in every step always prioritizing her feelings making sure that nothing and no one would hurt her and Sierra accepting Connor's darkness because that is where she saw her refuge she felt safe with him and was not afraid when she discovered that side of Connor showing how deep the love they created was and both found peace a partner for life who know that no matter what happens they will face everything together. Another thing I loved is Connor's relationship with Jax and Adrian, they may not be biological brothers but they are brothers by choice and that makes everything much more beautiful and now Sierra is also part of the family and the bond between them all turned out to be stronger than anything else and they will always be there to support each other. And finally I need Jax's story, my goodness, the woman who manages to tame the restless beast deserves all the respect in the world❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
So first of all this is my opinion by the way so for me this book is quite boring especially when the spicy scene. I yawn so hard man when I read that but this may applicable to me only cause I maybe don't like that much of spicy scene. For other people who like spicy scene go for it and maybe it's not for me as I still try to find out what my genre are. Second, I got an ick when the ML (Connor) saw FL (Sierra) first then decide she is his like is this some kind of werewolf romance when they saw their mate then said she is his? Third, I feel quite weird how fast the relationship between the main character goes but it's okay cause if a man want he got it. Fourth, The first few chapters I feel this is interesting until it got bored and at 60% or 70% of the book the plot finally showing. So through out the time I read this until then I thought I will give 3 ⭐ but I love how author give details in the torture scene as not all books like that (books I been read) and I really like that therefore I thought of giving 3.5 ⭐. Then, I really like the character development of Sierra (love her btw) and how Connor treat Sierra is chef kiss 😘. I love that. For me the only boring in this book is when the spicy scene and others such as plot is interesting, love the character and love the setting.
2,5/5 ⭐️ After reading the first few pages, I was almost convinced that I had just found a book that would become one of my favorites. And then… everything just kept going down and down 😀.
I personally really liked the MMC, apart from a few scenes, namely the ones where he helped the FMC “falling asleep”. It deeply annoyed me knowing that the FMC will never know about the reason she was sleeping so well.
The writing was good, but way too redundant. By the 25th chapter, Connor had used the word “small” or “little” to describe Sierra at LEAST a million times. Like okay we get it, you’re such a big strong man whilst she’s this little, small things you want to protect. It really creeped me out sometimes this obsession he had about her being so much “smaller” and “cute”.
Talking about Sierra, the book FMC, I don’t think there’s anything good to say about her. That might be harsh but really how could you like her ? By the end of the book, she NEVER showed any substantial growth. Because all this growth was dependent on Connor, take him away from her and she would be back to step 1 in a matter of second. She was spineless, weak and never questioned ANYTHING. Connor could have told her to jump from a bridge and she would have just… done it. Without any doubts or question. He knew so many things about her, did so many things. And she just ? Rolled with it ? No question asked, just following him no thought in her brain, trusting him right away as if she had any reason to do so.
I can get behind a book being fast paced as long as it’s “logical” enough, which wasn’t the case here. So much so that it just ended up being ridiculously funny rather than making it interesting.
Read this book if you’re into: - spineless and annoying FMC - MMC obsessed with the fact the FMC is “small”, “little” and cute - fast paced book that doesn’t follow a logical path

2.5 Stars
My Opinion: I have mixed feelings about this book. I struggled with the writing in the first third mainly because it felt like the author overused similes to the point where even the hero taking his shirt off is described as him tossing it aside like paper for some reason. It did get better in the last two thirds though.
Another thing that stood out to me, and not in a good way, was the overuse of “good girl”. I usually love a well timed “good girl” moment, but it lost all impact here because the hero used it so often.
One of the bigger issues was the lack of context and explanation for some of the elements in the story. Why on earth did the hero and his best friends have a kidnap/torture van full of weapons, and why did they have a warehouse where they tortured and killed people? Why did they seem so practised at surveillance, kidnapping and torture? I also didn’t understand how the two villains (the heroine’s father and a man that the hero had almost killed in an illegal underground boxing match when he was younger) came to be working together. It was all just kind of thrown in like it made sense, but it really didn’t in my opinion and needed more setup.
Having said that, I did enjoy how obsessed the hero was with the heroine and everything he was willing to do for her, and I loved the addition of the heroine’s cat Toffee and the found family dynamic between the heroine and the hero’s best friends.
Hero: 4/5. Connor is a heavyweight boxing champion who falls for Sierra the moment he sees her at a book event. He was gruff and intimidating to everyone else, but with her he was soft, patient, and never wavered in his devotion to her. That’s not to say he didn’t display some red flags though, like installing cameras in her apartment, as well as gaining access to the security cameras at her place of work so he could watch her all day, but I loved all of it. He was also willing to do anything to punish and get rid of the people who had hurt her, even torture and kill them. I liked him for the most part, but I did feel like it got practically shoved down my throat that he was a big, strong, and tough guy. That’s not a criticism of that kind of character, but rather of the constant reminders that got a bit repetitive and annoying. Heroine: 3/5. Sierra (23) works as an assistant manager in a public library. She was mistreated by her stepfather growing up, and as a result she struggled with anxiety. She was also quite a shy and quiet person, and she becomes very dependent on Connor. I’m always on the lookout for this kind of character done well, but in this one I unfortunately struggled to connect with her. I also wasn’t a fan of how it seemed like her anxiety disappeared towards the end of the book, because it makes it seem like the hero magically fixed her.
Gotta get some thoughts out of my head before I explode...
1. Sierra is a librarian and yet we never really see her doing librarian things. Maybe she shelves a book, like, once? I tell you what, though, if I literally ran out on a work requirement and then disappeared for several weeks (at least, where I'm at in the novel she hasn't returned to work yet, maybe she will?) I'd get shit-canned in a heartbeat. But, gotta suspend my disbelief a little I guess. (Some people need to suspend their disbelief regarding, like, vampires and aliens and stuff... for me it's HR violations. LOL)
2. I love a big, strong H who worries over and takes care of a smaller h. Buuuuuut Connor is just a straight-up stalker. Insta-love is great and all, and I appreciate his protective instincts, but dude. BOUNDARIES. As in, he has none. In his efforts to care for Sierra, he commits several actual crimes. Gross.
3. Sierra has massive anxiety stemming from past emotional abuse. I can appreciate that, having been in similar situations with similar results. But there is ZERO growth from Sierra at all, no attempts to "get better," for lack of a better term. No therapy, no self help books even (hello, she's supposed to be a librarian, remember?); all she does is let Connor carry her both metaphorically and sometimes literally. I get anxiety; what I don't get is being a doormat.
4. I love the "found family" aspect but I honestly kept waiting for it to turn into a "why choose" sort of thing. Was it just me? I think I would have found a RH version of this book far more compelling.
5. This was a pretty slow burn, which I can appreciate. Connor is the king of consent, which I can also appreciate. But I can't help but feel like the slow burn built up to... not much at all. I *just* got to their first all-the-way scene and it was a little underwhelming. A monster of a man with a monster of a... well, you know... and it was just blah. Uninspiring and somehow over too quickly. Here's hoping subsequent scenes are a little more exciting.
6. If everything pans out the way it seems like it will (after reading some reviews with spoilers -- why do I do that to myself?) Connor seems less romantic as time goes on. I'm all for a morally grey hero who does bad things for good reasons but I'm not all for actual psychopaths.
That's all my thoughts for now, I'm sure I'll think up more as I finish reading. All I can say is the writing itself is pretty good -- Sierra's anxiety hits really close to home and some of her feelings of invisibility actually hit so close to home that I could feel myself welling up with tears. I love protective, caring Connor... not so much his other side.
3.5 ⭐️. The story was interesting and kept me entertained, but it overall missed the mark for me. I didn’t fall in love with either MC.
This story follows Sierra Willows, who is an assistant manager at a local library and experienced crippling anxiety, and Connor Graves, who is a famous boxer with a dark past. After being convinced to attend a romance book signing event, Connor runs into Sierra and falls harder than he ever imagined. Sierra navigates a new, albeit unconventional romance, her anxiety, while battling her past, with the help of Connor.
Don’t get me wrong, the premise and set up was there, Sierra is a sweet character, Connor is a broody, possessive MMC, but several things fell a bit short for me. The best summary of my qualms with this story is just the lack of development. I didn’t know a lot about most characters, but mainly the MCs, and the story didn’t allow for us to get to know them or them to get to know each other. They fell head first into this relationship and didn’t come up for air for any of the “normal” relationship stuff, like their pasts. I also LOVE a found family trope and would’ve loved to have more background on how Connor developed this friendship with Jax and Adrian.
In general there was more telling than showing. I would’ve loved to see more of what makes Sierra sweet; more glimpses into Connor’s past earlier in the book, even if just through his POV; more background on Sierra’s childhood that contributed to the anxiety; even maybe a background story on when Toffee came into Sierra’s life; considering Sierra’s anxiety and timidness, I’d love to have seen her hesitate more in the beginning of their relationship and question Connor more. Make him work for it at least a little, or pretend to 😭. The use of “sweet girl” was a bit much, too.
When the “big reveal” happens, I expected more line of questioning, a little more groveling. She receives that call shortly afterwards, and stands up for herself, which was great and much deserved, but doesn’t bat an eye at what is actually happening for how sweet and timid she is portrayed. “Ignorance is bliss” can only take us so far, even if we love someone. Pls just ask him something, anything.
I expected a bit more regarding the “dark” aspects of the story, but I’m by no means a dark romance expert so maybe that’s just my inexperience talking.
Overall I’d say this is maybe a good intro to dark romances. I enjoyed Jax and Adrian and the small glimpses into their personalities and stories sound interesting so I look forward to reading those and continuing the series. Thank you to Renée for the opportunity to read the ARC and provide an honest review 🤍
5/5 "Sometimes, monsters are exactly what good girls need to keep them safe."
TROPES: -boxer MMC x librarian FMC -slow burn -instant attraction -found family -size difference -touch her and die
This book was Renee Mo's DEBUT novel?! Omg, it took my breath away. It was so incredibly good. Connor and Sierra are literal soulmates.
Sierra has had a very hard life with an abusive stepfather who taught her that she needed to be quiet, or better yet - silent - to survive. So she lives each day being incredibly shy and anxiety-riddled, often suffering from panic attacks. She's 23, lives alone with her beloved cat, and works as a librarian.
Connor is the opposite of her. He's a champion MMA fighter (boxer). Super rich, dabbles in some illegal stuff, but he's generally a good guy. He's forced to go to a book signing with his friend, where he meets Sierra - and he falls HARD.
She's mine. The thought slithered into my head, sharp and possessive, curling around my ribs like barbed wire. She didn't know it yet, didn't know me, but it didn't matter. This sweet girl was mine now, everything I'd been missing.
So... yeah, he's obsessed. Bro basically stalks her lmao, which I didn't mind at all because she was intrigued by him as well. When he finds out she has anxiety and panic attacks, he gets protective and it's oh so sweet. He does everything he can to help her. When he finds out the reason WHY she is the way she is... he vows to fix everything. And he does.
It (her diary) read, "Sometimes I wonder if anyone will ever look at me and see something worth keeping." I traced the words on the screen like they were sacred, bourbon bitter on my tongue. She had no idea. No idea of the things I'd do if it meant she'd never doubt it again.
I absolutely ATE. THIS. BOOK. UP. If you love your MMC's obsessive, protective, and totally in love- give this book a try. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
SAFETY: Virgin/celibate/manwhore?: virgin heroine, no past on hero OM/OW drama?: none at all Cheating/sharing? none Triggers: child abuse by stepfather (not sexual), graphic violence, stalking (by MMC), psychological trauma (from stepfather), panic attacks, murder Kinks: somno (consented), praise, anal play, dirty talk, dry humping, TONS of "good girl" HEA?: YES <3
3.5 stars. Was going to be higher since the beginning was great, like cliche but entertaining with the anxiety rep and boy obsessed tropes. I did feel emotional at the hurt and comfort parts but this book just got really repetitive and boring with fluff. Vanilla smut and love declarations over and over again. This book did not need 388 pages, probably would have been better if it was 100 pages less with a bit more character development. The epilogues were and the last chapter was not needed lol, just fluff and slice of life that weren't even good.
Another thing I wish had more explanation was how it went from just a fast burn insta-love and lust stalker romance of rich boy and poor girl to serial killing? The MMC and his friends were torturing and killing so casually and it was obvious they had done it before. It was never explained how they started and if they were just serial killers? Or is this more of a handful of times thing? Nope, they were just like oh no the heroine has an evil step father, let's cut him up as fish food. ??? Also it didn't make sense how the biggest "tear apart" factor was how the hero didn't want her to know that he killed someone in a boxing match before and says it like it is the worst he'd done while seemingly having killed way more people on top of it? And so the heroine was just okay with it all even when the hero keeps talking about dismembering people in the cute bookstore he brought her to? IDK, I don't think normal people would have been so okay with it. The heroine wasn't even described as a dark romance girly lol.
And if I have to hear the author describe the heroine as small again I'll lose my mind. A quick search showed it was used 117 times in the book... what in the wattpad.
Also this book made being a professional boxer seem so easy lol. The hero trains like maybe three times in the entire book, never watches his diet or goes to the gym regularly and has an undefeated professional record as some heavyweight champ lol. I also wish his past as a foster youth was shown and not told and bled into the first IDK 70% of the book ??? It came out of no where and felt like an easy way out explanation of how he committed attempted manslaughter?
Overall, it def read like a debut and unfortunately I am not interested in the rest of the series lol.

"Undisputed Champion" dives deeply into the complexities of love and identity, giving us a captivating dark romance that is as intense as it is tender.
The story revolves around Sierra Willows, a shy and introspective girl who struggles to be seen in a world that often overlooks her, and Connor Graves, a formidable heavyweight champion also known as “Killer,” who is fiercely protective and possessive over those he cares for.
Renée Mo expertly crafts Connor's character, showcasing the duality of his life as a boxer, emotionally guarded yet deeply loyal. His obsession with Sierra becomes a driving force in the story, highlighting themes of control and protection. You are going to watch as we find ourselves torn between the thrill of his possessiveness and the tenderness he shows towards Sierra, making him a morally gray character who navigates the fine line between love and obsession. (Our favourite character 😜)
Sierra's journey is equally interesting. She struggles with anxiety and self worth (this will resonate deeply, making her character relatable to anyone who has ever felt like they don't belong ♥️) Through her relationship with Connor, Sierra gradually learns to embrace her voice and assert herself, leading to moments of growth. The evolution of her character adds depth to the story, making the romantic dynamics between her and Connor all the more sweeter.
The writing is immersive, pulling us into the emotional and physical realms of the characters. The romance is steamy and charged with tension, leaving me breathless.
"Undisputed Champion" doesn't shy away from exploring the darker aspects of love, making it an intense read for fans of the genre. The book's themes of obsession and morally gray characters will resonate with those who enjoy reading about that genre.
In conclusion, Renée Mo's "Undisputed Champion" is a gritty yet heartwarming tale of love, self discovery, and the lengths one will go to protect their own.
This book is an absolute must read for anyone who enjoys dark romance with emotionally charged characters and relatable struggles.
Whether you're drawn in by the enthralling plot or the deep emotional connections, this book promises to leave an impact long after the last page is turned.
