Hood Legacy

Rate this book
Easy or hard? Those were the only two options I gave WNBA star Legacy Glover when it came to us. Legacy was adamant about being in control on and off the court, going as far as hiding the fact that she had a stalker. Naturally, I stepped into the role of her protector when I found out. My approach wasn’t typical, but I would get the job done and prove to her that she was always my top priority.
She joked with her friends that she wanted a nine-to-five man, but we all knew she needed this Hood Legacy.

Easy or hard point guard? I love this series; however, this one didn't do it for me. Hood was just too much, acting like a spoiled brat one minute, then everything his name implied the next. I did love how he doted on and protected Legacy though.

This was a good story, but that stalker plot? A mess. The issue wasn’t that there were two stalkers—it’s that the execution made no damn sense. Jermaine popped up outta nowhere like a last-minute villain in a soap opera. The girl had been getting mystery flowers forever, and suddenly BOOM “It’s Jermaine!” No buildup, no suspense, just vibes.

And how is Aycen supposed to be this big, bad, dangerous man but didn’t think to ask more questions about “Mike” after that sketchy phone call? Nobody ran a background check? Y’all got entire criminal networks but can’t Google? Cus why wouldn’t yall start with the WNBA professionals cus if the area is allegedly secure from everyone EXCEPT PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE wouldn’t that be the list you work from, wouldn’t you check specific access points and badge entries and see who overlapped ?

The romance was okay, but Legacy’s backstory needed work. Her mom neglected her because her woman died? Wouldn’t that make her more protective of the kid that was the only piece of the woman she loved? Like okay she ain’t want kids and Her Josh, John wtf ever his name is was gonna be too weak Like WHAT KINDA LOVE DO YALL GOT, couldn’t even respect Tammy’s dying wishes??? math is not mathing.

Also, Legacy had a whole unit lmao army a got dang posse of elite killers and still chose to suffer in silence? Girl. Be serious. Like Hood you ain’t want your girl tough but ain’t teach her no self defense? Mercy you got her that pistol but ain’t teach her to blow that thang?? Like sorry this ridiculous I also ain’t really like how Deuce parents wasn’t addressing the whole Faylin thing, that baby is 6 like I get it they a weird group but ENOUGH like yall laughing and joking and he’s being weird, teach him to accept no or at least remind him what’s age appropriate. Like be considerate of Faylin feelings cus all the ladies here is dang near unhinged and deadly but yall showing her that her boundaries don’t matter cus he’s a Decorte. Being that this story is built around a stalking issue I just feel like that was a bit tone deaf to include.

I personally don’t hate big families in books, but these stories are a a bit like a chaotic family reunion where everyone shows up and nobody brought food. The constant cameos were distracting, especially when I’m still trying to figure out what the main characters got going on. It was giving Crystal Gems meet the entire Old Testament plus the Numberblocks, and whoever else but even with all them people Legacy was still assaulted and harmed like WHAT EXACTLY DO YALL DO???

just okay and needed to be cleaned up

I didn’t like this book as much as the first. There was no real building between the two. It was just like boom she’s mine, that’s it. I’m cool with insta-love but I didn't feel the chemistry. Legacy’s backstory was crazy! I also hated that Hood didn’t tell Legacy the truth about his mom. The kids always bring comedic relief to these stories. Missed opportunity when Hood’s mom said, “…hold his hand. There will come a moment when he will need you because he will drown in his thoughts. He won’t know how to move his feet to take the next step and will need you. Not to lead him but to hold his hand.” Somewhere later in the book Legacy should’ve acknowledged that being the time to hold his hand.

Words were missing from sentences here and there. Some inconsistencies. Like Legacy being 5’10 and Hood being 6’5 but saying he only had a few inches on her. Faylin almost 16 but a freshman? Hood went international with a gun? Some misspelled words.

Hood love

This was an interesting spin for the Hoop session. Hood and Legacy were both interesting characters. Hood's protective and nurturing nature was sweet, and Legacy being true to herself even though everyone around her tried to desensitize her to the unhingedness of their lifestyle was funny, and I liked their romance. But there were some things about this book that rubbed me the wrong way. WARNING: The rest of this review will have spoilers for minor characters in this book.

So while I did like Hood and Legacy together, I often found Hood's behavior overbearing and childish. He could have listened to Legacy and reassured her so they could come to a compromise, and I hated the fact that the situation with his mother overshadowed her very valid anger about him acting a fool at her job.

The second thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the Faylin and Duece situation. Duece, a SIX-year-old, has a crush on Faylin, a SIXTEEN-year-old, and has decided he's going to marry her. Cute, right? Wrong! Because Duece acting like Faylin's man and threatening her boyfriend is not cute, and instead of his parent’s checking this behavior, they either did nothing in Nine's case or egged him on in Cross' case, and it was not only inappropriate but also weird as h*ll. Now Faylin has to be uncomfortable around this child because the adults in her life think it's funny to encourage him, and it was quite frankly strange.

(3.5⭐️) My goodness was Aceyn a Grade A crash out lol. I feel like in Hoop Session I thought I remembered him a little more calmer lol. He locked in on Legacy and that was it. A little too much at times. I do feel like the stalker storyline was a little mishandled, and could have been executed way more differently. That way, the plot twist at the end would have been even more 😲😲😲. It also had an unexpectedly sad moment that added some depth to the story and the characters. Above all though I wish we had seen just a little bit more character development from Aceyn. Maybe showing Legacy actually being his calm. Because every time she tried to talk him down it just revved him up even more. Check the trigger warnings. And also keep in mind when the author says it’s a large family/friend group…it’s so many people to keep track of.

okay….

I enjoyed Hood/Aceyn and Legacy’s book other than the fact that Hood was slightly out of control at times, given to overreacting and extra sensitive to the slightest hint of disrespect. It was good to have the ensemble cast of Mercy and Givens and Xero and others in the book. I overall enjoyed it and found it to have more emotional depth than Mercy and Givens book which was my first in this series. I’m looking forward to Xero’s book but I doubt I will go back to start this series from the beginning.

I thoroughly enjoyed the next book in this crazy world that the author has created. I love all the crossover in each book while not taking away from the focus of each book. The Author does such a great job of pulling you into their world while not letting you forget where it all started And where it’s about to go. I can’t wait to read the 12’s story and honestly, I can’t wait to see an adult deuce going after the woman he has claimed as he is even at his young age.

I liked this book, even though I was a bit confused about the whole Stalker part. Jermaine’s vice got exposed, and I’m sorry, but I cackled. He was collateral damage, and even though his creepy little vice was discovered.

Now, Hood? He needs training with one of those other psychos from the Aubry J Universe, because that job was not it. Where was the torture? The intimidation? He could’ve at least called Cross or Exodus. Where was the questioning? They call you "Hood" for a reason. He acted like Paxton

I also had to rediscover his character because I used to think he was the calm one between him and Givens. Aceyn is straight-up controlling under his woman, like all of them, honestly.

On the other hand, our suburban girl might not be Hood, but she’d call the police on you without blinking. She’s a soft girl, but Mercy needs to train her bestfriend, there’s too much danger in their circle. And don’t get me started on her ex-basketball team’s owner. He needed a beatdown. Like… where was it? That man knew too much.

Lastly, Deuces might’ve been cute in Hoop Session, but someone needs to have Faylin’s back. It’s not cute being controlled by a six-year-old. She’s sixteen! Not even her dad is standing up for her. I enjoyed the read overall, but Deuces’s part seriously pissed me off and Krude encouraging him? Please. Xoey is next or West, and Soren will continue the Hoop series

Definitely not the 9-5 kind of Nigga!!!! I loved this Aceyn and Legacy. Both coming from different worlds and navigating them both while standing in the gap for the other person. Hood is a Crash out at its finest right along with his friend Givens. Now Aceyn claimed our girl well before he approached her, and I want to know why it took so long when he knew as soon as he signed her? Legacy poor baby had a lot going on and frustrated me to know end with the shit she kept in the dark but had a whole ass killing family beside/behind and in front of her. This be the stuff that make me dislike the FMC because they don’t use their resources. Heck all she had to do was tell Mercy and it would have been handled with the quickness. Couldn’t be me I would have went right to my best friend and told her knowing I would see good at night and not looking over my shoulder. Hell call 12 and one of her would have gotten the job done. I have other questions too. Like what was her bodyguard hired by her parents? Did he and Michael work together? How did they not run into each other and or off one another for getting in the way? Was Michael not married where the heck was his wife? Why is Hood called hood as he was a shot 1st no questions asked. Is he really in the folds of the Psycho group he is around? What sick life was her momma leading that she got off making everyone miserable? There was also a very sad moment, and I hate and loved the way they handled it but could have used more after it was all said and done. To read and Aubry J. book know that you are going to laugh your and cry real tears from it from time to time. Madea and that damn Genesis get me every time. Deuce put claimed his women with that prom picture 🤣. Would love to see more of Hood and Legacy now that all the dust has settled and to watch how Hood allows point guard to be his calm. Loved how he was trying to love Legacy and give her what she never had!!!

Clockable Villains and a Love Story!

The family, the friends, the extended crew are all af. I genuinely don’t think I’ve read a single book involving this group where I wasn’t laughing out loud at least once. The humor feels natural, not forced, and it makes the emotional moments hit even harder.

I’ll say this upfront: if you haven’t read the earlier books, there’s a lot of people to keep track of. I have to admit, Legacy did frustrate me early on though. Keeping a stalker situation to yourself is never the move, and I wanted her to say something sooner. Also, I’m not gonna lie, I clocked who the stalker was pretty early because the vibes were off immediately. I honestly wish the reveal had been dragged out longer. He deserved way more of a horrible ending than what he got, and I was low-key mad about it.

One thing this book did really well was the family dynamics. Legacy’s parents added depth, and getting to know Hood’s parents was such a highlight. His mom especially was just sweet in a way that balanced out all the chaos.

And listen… this book was tea. Period. It also has me fully seated for what’s next. I am beyond ready for Zoe and the Twelve to get their happily ever after even though her book isn't next. But, like Zoe said, it’s romantic, and she absolutely needs a man who can handle all of her people and everything that comes with her. I can't wait for her story with her 9-5 man, Gift.

There are still unanswered questions around some background characters, but instead of being frustrating, it just made me more excited for the next books. This series keeps getting better, and I’m locked in.

Let me start by saying this: even though Hood Legacy is a standalone, I highly recommend starting with Hoop Sessions or reading Aubry J’s whole catalog in order. Don’t be like me 😩 — all the side characters were so interesting, I wanted to know everything about them right away. So consider my TBR cleared until further notice, because I’m diving into everything Aubry J this month!

Hood Legacy was such a good story. Short books usually annoy me because they try to cram too much into 200 pages, but this one was done so well. Hood knew he wanted Legacy and put his foot on everybody’s neck to get to her. Were his tactics a little dangerous? Absolutely — but like Xoey said, “he ain’t no regular 9 to 5 typa nigga.” So could I really be mad when he was out here shooting locks off doors and beating folks up?? No, no I could not.

Even with all that, he always made sure Legacy knew he loved her. He was tapped into his emotions, wasn’t too proud to beg, and made sure she knew he was down bad for her — exactly the kind of love and reassurance she needed. Legacy never grew up surrounded by love, and even though she had Mercy and a whole crew who called her family, she needed Hood to show her what it felt like to be chosen, protected, and truly loved — and that’s exactly what he did.

She loved him back almost instantly and stood by him from the start, even when his ways were far from normal. This book was so good and had me crying my eyes out! If you haven’t read this or anything by Aubry J yet, take this as your sign. I’m off to read Hoop Sessions now!!

Hood just gave Givens a run for his money!

Just when I think I know who my BookBae is here comes another one. Hood is the poster child for standing ten toes down for his woman. I love that he didn’t hold back with Legacy before or after he had her. He didn’t even let what was happening with his mother hinder his pursuit. That’s some real dedication. He took protecting her seriously and I loved that for the suburban baddie! Legacy is definitely the only sane one in her inner circle, but that’s what makes her unique. It’s also why Hood is attracted to her. I hate that she endured so much trauma from her parents to those that were supposed to care for her. Yet she had a hot headed man that did not play the radio about her. Hood let her know everytime that she could take the easy route to the hard route with him, but the ending would always be the same. Whew I loved it!

Now bring on Pyrite and the Baker, Xoey and her Gift, Amethyst and Yale, and maybe Citrine and somebody. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Hood's Legacy and Legacy's Hood

This book!!! First of all, if Hood's picture isn't in the dictionary next to the word Crashout, then I don't know whose would be. And the fact that I loved all of his crashout craziness means I need to sit on that lady's couch ASAP and IDC. First introduced to Legacy and Hood in Mercy and Givens book, getting to know these two better had my emotions all over the place and I started to feel like I had my own 12 like Xoey with the way that I was smiling then crying in the same chapters. Speaking of, my girl Xoey is coming y'all. THE WAY I am so excited about that book!! Back to this one though, this is fiction so it was read with that understanding and I was throughly entertained. These characters encountered some tough things but the proposal- OMG, I wasn't ready to cry over and celebrate those people the way that I did- that was so beautifully written.

Overall, I really really liked Hood's Legacy and Legacy's Hood and getting a sneak peek back to the past characters and the new love story brewing.

NEVER a dull moment!

I’m ALWAYS down for a HEA moment! I absolutely adore everything about every book you write ! This was no different! Didn’t have to have me in here crying like that over Ms. Arlene !! I knew it was going to be hard but I think it shocked me how hard the emotions hit me.. I think the immediate love and acceptance of legacy that I knew would come made it THAT much harder for me nice finding out her family dynamic! I knew it didn’t end at her bodyguard though .. Mike was sketchy the whole time and it would’ve been perfection for her to be her own savior but Hood can come save the day anytime !! Pyrite needs his HEA! Yale DEFINITELY needs hers !! Xoey & the 12 for sure need their HEA ! All of them are dope in their own way lol Gift is that for her I can’t feel it !!! I’m a sucker for a good love story! I highly recommend EVERYTHING by you to everyone always

This is the second book I’ve read by Aubry J and babyyy… she is that girl!!! I loved Hood and I loved Legacy! “Easy or the hard way.” When I tell you I was laughing, crying, and gasping chile, this book had it all! The plot twist…Oh, it was plotting. I called it in the beginning, then doubted myself, then boom turns out I was right all along.

And the way he loved her? Whew. HARD. (Shoutout to his parents for raising him in love!) You wanna talk about insta-love? This was it. Sis said she wanted a 9–5 n*gga nah, she got a Doctor who is hood af who would kill for her, and I loved that for her. Even tho she was hesitant. She fell in love hard too! The way he proposed baby I was a mess. SOBBING YOU HEAR ME😭 literally my face lol

And baby… Xoey and the Twelve had me hollering. I need her to get her own book because I just know the inside of her mind is pure chaos and comedy. But until I shall go through her catalogue and read it all lol

5/5 hell a 6/5 if I am being honest!

Ms. Jackson, you did it again! I wanted a book that was going to wreck me and Hood and Legacy did it. The letters from his mom and the proposal were beautiful. I have never experienced a proposal scene that had me in actual tears. As for Legacy and Hood, I loved their dynamic. Legacy was not the type to crash out and get her hands dirty, but she was not whiney and annoying either. I loved the way that Hood did not play about her and bodied the niggas making her life miserable. That bitch as nigga Mike deserved it worse. Hood, was a real man. From the way he provided reassurance when needed and poured into her made my heart happy. While he loved and poured into her she also did the same for him in his time of need. Loved Xoey’s crazy ass too. Can’t wait to see Xoey and Gift.

entertaining as always!

I just love this world of characters! It is a lot to keep track of if you havent read the other books but once you stop trying to make sense of who is who, you are able to enjoy the storyline. Legacy and Hood are an unlikely pair but also perfect for each other. She was frustrating me at first trying to keep the stalker situation to herself. Also - not to give it away but I peeped who the stalker was from the beginning because he was weird lol. I wish the reveal hadnt happened so fast cause he deserved more than what he got 😤. Legacy’s parents too! Loved getting to know Hoods parents and his mom was so sweet! Great story and great romance.

There are a lot of unanswered questions regarding the background characters. But it just makes me anticipate the next books!

Hood Legacy

As always love love... I love the introduction of new characters. I can't wait to read about them. Now like you said not everyone is going to get a story but right now definitely Four and Corinthians as well as Xoey and Gift. Ok now Hood was definitely a crash out but most was warranted but I am still a little on the fence about the club though. Hood showed his behind 😂😂. Legacy acts like she doesn't love it but baby is not going anywhere at all. I loved the incorporation of Ms. Arlene in the proposal it was super sweet and it's like Legacy get that motherly love as well. Baby let me say this I can only imagine what happened when they went to see Legacy mama.. the way them kids act up I know we need that scene. But overall I love how the mem crash out love hard and make you smile.

Legacy and Hood, A Love Of A Lifetime

I’ve not laughed and cried in a minute, but I thoroughly enjoyed the roller coaster ride this book took me on!!!…
I loved me some Legacy and Hood!!!…I knew that relationship was going to be a good intense one, but yet fun and loving!!!…
Zoey is ready to unpack her Gift and I can’t wait to see exactly what comes in the package!!!…
I was not shocked that it was Mike doing the stalking, especially after him being disrespectful about the relationship btwn Legacy and Hood!!!…
I loved Hood’s momma and my tears flowed the minute she said she was tired, because they wanna stay, but they are tired and their body is worn!!!.
Krude encouraging his Deuce to act up with Faylin going to prom had me giggling!!!…
I can’t wait to see what is next for this crew!!!…

So many thoughts

First off, I LOVED it as per usual. I'm thrilled whenever Krude makes an appearance. The silver tooth gang got me in tears bc what did Deuce discuss with Anthony? That boy is so serious about Faylin.

How did Hood propose before Givens? Or did
Givens propose and we are not privy to it?

I knew Mike was a rat from his first page in when Hood had to check him.

Ooh I can’t wait until Corinthians and plus 12 get their books. Xoey plus 12 is going to have a fire book bc she’s got 12 whole characters in her alone. Her game is immaculate, how you walk up to a man named Gift and tell him he’s your gift!!? Yassss girl go get your man. Really praying these books come out soon lol. I read this one too quick.

Aubry never disappoints!!!

When I saw Aubry had a new book coming out, I was so excited and couldn’t wait for it to be released because I haven’t read a book by her that I didn’t love!!!

Hood and Legacy’s love story was everything I wanted it to be and so much more!!! It was truly love at first sight for him but she never experienced love before so was scared. Plus she had a whole stalker, which is a lot. But I love how they eventually got it together and just loved each other.

So if you love sports romance and fast and intense love stories, I definitely recommend this book to you!!! Plus my best friend in my head made an appearance and his crazy self always has the best lines, that will have you cry/laughing!!!

absolutely love!!

Omg where to start this book was everything funny, loving , sad and full of action. I love the loyalty amongst all the characters had for ones another from legacy to Hood to Mercy to Given etc. I know for sure that if my man is not crashing out like hood does with legacy I don’t want him . As for xoey and the 12 I can’t wait to read her story . She was funny and full of life . Lastly, I love the Deuces character being only 6 and ready to take care of his girl . By offering faylin his Dino credit card to go shopping too cute. I definitely recommend this book!!!

I loved it!!!

This was a great storyline from beginning to end. I laughed, wanted to cry, and lusted many times. Hood was definitely B.A.E and the way he loved on his point guard was everything. It’s good to have a male character that parents raised him with love and showed him how to love so that he could be his best self for his future wife. I love that the older characters from other books made appearances in this book. I’m excited to read about Xoey and possibly Gift, I definitely think they would have a great storyline. Great Read, check it out and Aubrey, keep em coming!

Easy Or Hard Point Guard!!

Hood has been in love with Legacy before he met her. She wasn't even checking Hood. All she wanted is a nine to five man. Legacy didn't want her friends to know that she was getting stalked, but she told the owners and head coach. Hood's pops and mama loves Legacy like she is one of their own. Hood proved that he is willing, would, can knock people off for her. Legacy was basically an ophan. Jermaine and Michael was cut from the same cloth, Jermaine fantasize about what Legacy, what Michael did to Legacy was dirty work. Hood loves Legacy regardless and she loves him too. His mama made his proposal everybody was crying

Loved it! Hood didn't play about Legacy!

From the first time he laid eyes on Legacy, Hood was on a mission! They went through some stuff but him along with Mama Arlene, Pops and the DeCortes, she had a village that loved her! Her own family was jaded, but the crew more than made up for their lack of love! Jermaine and Mike were some sick folks, they both got just what they deserved! Zoey is hilarious, I can't wait for her story! I love these characters! Looking foward to what comes next!

This was an okay read for me. Hood was a little over the top for me at times that it came off as him being immature in my opinion. He did what he had to do as her man to protect her from a stalker but rest was a bit too much. I like that the DeCortes accepted Legacy in as being a part of their family with her friendship/sisterhood to Mercy. I’m so on the fence on how Deuce is six years old and has claimed Faylin who’s fifteen years old because I know we’ll have a book about them in the future. I can’t wait to read Pyrite and the kidnapped Baker’s or Gift and Xoey plus twelve voices books.

Zoe need a man that's going to handle all of her people inside of her and I think Gift is going to be that guy so I am excited to read her story but this book with Hood and Legacy was tea.
