I Summoned A Demon For A Date?!

Rate this book
“She needed a plus-one. He wanted her soul. Love was definitely not in the contract.”

Rosie Thompson is about to be evicted, single, and socially demolished at her stepsister’s engagement party. Her solution? Summon a demon and make a deal she’ll probably regret later.

But Aldaine, demon, dealmaker, and disturbingly hot in both suit and horns, is not what she expected.

The soul-selling contract was supposed to get her through a week of family events with a fake boyfriend on her arm. It wasn’t supposed to come with unexpected kisses or a slowly unraveling bond she doesn’t understand.

Between masquerading as madly in love and navigating snarky relatives, Rosie’s starting to realize this fake relationship might be the most real thing in her life.

Which would be fine… if she hadn’t already promised him her soul.

Fluffy

Times like this, I am glad I give authors a second chance. I read a different book by this author a long time ago, ine if my first DNF upon returning to reading.
I wish it had been this book I read instead. This is super cute and fluffy weekend read. Funny but covering complex themes as well. I really like Rosie and homeboy A sounds like an amazing being to be friends with.

If you're looking for a paranormal rom-com, I Summoned A Demon For A Date by Aspen Black is a must-read. I absolutely loved it.

Rosie is down on her luck. She's lost her job and is getting evicted. On top of that, her evil stepsister has invited her to her engagement party. So what does Rosie do? She casually summons a demon, haha. I liked Rosie. She's a little bit of a cinnamon roll, but she's smart, thoughtful, and surprising. I mean, she was more than calm about the demon thing, which I liked. The first meeting between Rosie and Aldaine was hilarious. His response to the situation was everything, haha. Aldaine was very smooth, which isn't surprising since he's a demon, but what surprised me was how much he cared for Rosie. I loved how he was there supporting her every minute. They were a team. He was the perfect "fake" boyfriend to show off at the party. It didn't take long for the romance to turn real. It was very spicy, but there was real emotion behind it.

The plot was so entertaining. So much drama, snide comments, clap-backs, and more. It was messy and so good. The engagement party was a seven-day event at a gorgeous estate. Which made for a beautiful backdrop for all the dirt that went down. Rosie's stepsister, Stephany, was a messy bit*h. The amount of hate that she invoked was astounding. She took every opportunity to tear Rosie down; it was basically social warfare. Thankfully, Aldaine was always ready to step in and take her down a notch, and he did it perfectly every time; it was excellent. Those moments were the best. The plot twist was a good one. It did take me by surprise, but when I thought about it, it totally fit and made for a good ending.

I Summoned A Demon For A Date was a sweet romance. From the start, I knew I would enjoy this, but I didn’t realize how much I was going to love it. I definitely recommend reading this one.

What would you do if you were desperate to finally one-up or at least shut-up that snotty sister (or in this case step-sister) who was intent on humiliating you at every turn? What steps would you take? If you found an old book with a summoning spell in it would you take the risk and use it?
Rosie fits all of those things to a “t.” She’s down on her luck – single, unemployed, on the verge of eviction, and broke. What’s a girl to do? Well, summon a demon of course! But she gets more than she bargained for with this deal.
Steamy, fun, and with a touch of comedy this twisted paranormal romance novel will draw you in and keep you page-turning. With a dual POV alternating between Rosie and Aldaine a week long engagement party is sure to be interesting as Rosie finds herself falling for the guy with a “contract” for her soul, while he guards a delicate secret. Steamy scenes await that will absolutely have you wishing to be Rosie many times over.
Can something like this happen for me? No? Okay. I tried. LOL!

A refreshingly funnily different rom-com. One spell gone awry and one irate demon all led to one deal of a fake boyfriend for the week. A week-long caper for Rosie and Aldaine with plenty of laughs, nightmare family and an attraction that builds with close proximity leading to lots of steamy scenarios between Rosie & Aldaine. I loved it. The dynamic Rosie and Aldaine had together made for a brilliant read.

Our FMC, Rosie, just can’t catch a break. Fired from her job for not booking up with her boss and is now facing eviction. What could be worse than that? Oh… just her EVIL step-sister rubbing her engagement to her ex-boyfriend in her face and the fact she doesn’t have a date to the extravagant engagement party… So what does Rosie do? Well she decides to lie and say she has a boyfriend and will be bringing him as her date… She just has to summon him from the cheap fake spell book on how to summon a demon. Easy.

Turns out the book was fake and the only way to summon a demon is by their true name… and Aldaine has been very careful not to give that information up. Turns out our girl was able to summon him because she’s his fated mate.

The first meeting between Rosie and Aldaine was hilarious. Aldaine wasn’t impressed with the summoning, at first. Once he made the deal with Rosie and they shook on it did he realize what she was to him. From then on he just wanted to do anything he could to be close to her. Luckily for him she wasn’t very specific on how long the engagement party would last. So he was pretty happy it turned out he’d get to be with her for a week.

While at her childhood home they were the best team. I hated how she’s been treated and isolated from her family (we find out why later). I loved how he supported her every minute. He was the perfect "fake" boyfriend to show off at the party. It didn't take long for the romance to turn real.

This story was so entertaining. It was filled with sooo much drama, snide comments, clap-backs, and more. It was very spicy, but there was real emotion behind it. I HIGHY RECOMMEND READING IT.

Sooo cute!

Well I am sure that I wouldn't summon a demon and sell my soul to him just to pay my rent and to have him be my date to my dick of a stepsister's wedding, but here we are with Rosie and she is desperate and in her apartment with an eviction notice on the door, chalk on her hands and a salt laden summoning circle on her floor.

After a call with her conniving stepsister inviting Rosie to her overly extravagant week long wedding celebrations, she returns to her summoning circle. And what do ya know? The shitty book with the demon summoning spell finally worked after, what feels like, a billion failed attempts, Aldaine stands there furious wondering wtf just happened and how in the hell did he get here.

Rosie is adorable and resilient. She has put up with so much shitty treatment from her stepmother and stepsister and add on her father's apparent lack of attention regarding her suffering, she is strong and now has a 'contract' with Aldaine and he provides much needed back up and then some! I love the 'and then some'!

Rosie and Aldaine's relationship is adorable and their chemistry is amazing and super hot and I so wish there was more, I would so totally take a series!

This was a cute paranormal romcom

I adored Aldaine. He was funny, snarky, sexy, dominant and oh so soft for Rosie. He absolute had her back with her family and made a point to show them how much she means to him.

Rosie was quirky and relatable. She was the forgotten daughter in a blended family. She is fiercely independent, because she had to be. Her family went there for her. Now she’s got this hotter than all get out demon she’s made a deal with who is playing the part of dotting boyfriend REALLY convincingly.

Their attraction and the relationship outcome was easy to see coming and was predictable all in a great way. This was a terrific feel good break from the pitch black I normally read.

Passages and quotes:

Aldaine was definitely hot as hell. Pun absolutely intended.

My mate was no meek, trembling human. She was a force to be reckoned with.

One week pretending to be her boyfriend while hiding the fact that we were mates? Delightful torture was what it would be.

Words. I needed words. I was a demon lord who had negotiated countless contracts, and this tiny human had rendered me nearly speechless. "You look," Beautiful. Stunning. Mine. "... appropriate for travel." Smooth, Aldaine. Very smooth.

Such a cute story!

This was a great book by Aspen Black! Rosie is desperate to figure out her money situation for rent and other necessities – and when her stepsister calls to rub it in about her not bringing anyone to the “wedding event of the year” at the family estate, she tries to use a spell from a thrift store spell book to summon a demon. Initially she was going to summon the demon to help with her financial woes, but now she bargains a deal with the demon she actually DOES summon to be her date to the event.

The demon she summoned, Aldaine, is furious that he was actually summoned and has NO idea how this girl was able to manage it based on the spell she used, but he agrees to her conditions. When they shake hands, he realizes that she is his fated mate, and that must be how she was able to summon him. Not wanting her to know, he does everything possible to help her out with her family issues… her stepsister is the absolute WORST. During this weeklong event, Stephany does her best to put Rosie down, but Aldaine is there to help her through the worst of it.

I was really happy with how this story ended, but I would love to see more about the rest of the people in the “family”!

Combine a snarky FMC with a bit of childhood trauma, a dollar store spell book, a charming demon who oozes charisma, an eviction notice, and an evil step sister/ex boyfriends wedding invitation, and you get this funny but sweet rom com that has a dash of angst.
Rosie is mainly just trying to get by, and survive all the setbacks life has been throwing at her. That is, until her step sister calls and patronizingly asks if she is coming to the week long wedding event of the year. Her and Rosie’s ex, Roger. Now, Rosie is more determined than ever to summon a demon with her dollar store spellbook and a wish. That doesn’t stop her shock and awe when it actually works.
Making a deal with Rosie was just the tip of the iceberg for Aldaine. He readily agrees to her deal, while keeping a secret that he may or may not keep from her. He’s determined to keep this little minx close, and help her sort out her evil stepsister and lacking family.
There’s a rollercoasters worth of emotions in this short rom com, that makes it a light but still fairly wholesome read. I’d love to see more of these characters, and get a glimpse into Aldaines world.

Preface: This review is my opinion only. Yours may be different. Neither is wrong and that's ok.

So this is my first time reading Aspen Black. I am aware she normally writes BBW RH books, but this is a standard 1 woman, 1 demon relationship!

On a spice scale, I give it a 3 chillis out of 5. The scenes are interesting, different and not overdone, in either quantity or reasons for smexy times, they are nicely part of the evolution of the relationship.

I actually read the book in one sitting, I couldn't put it down. The main characters were all relatable and likeable. I loved watching the family dynamic develop throughout the story. The pace of the story was perfect, rarely a dull moment.

The only tiny minus I have for the book was the name of the MMC - Aldaine - my brain kept switching it to Adaline and then getting confused lol. But that was definitely a 'me' problem and not the author :-)

“He’s as hot as shepherds pie and just as delicious”

What could possibly go wrong from trying to summon a demon from a book that you bought at the dollar store?

This was such a cute read with rom-com vibes and characters you feel for. It has family drama by the truck loads, twist and turns that are executes wonderfully, fated mates, secrets and a confused demon lord who is over protective and just enough spice to make you want to get a dollar store demon summing book for your self

You really can’t help but feel for Rosie and everything she is going through, she has just lost her job she’s about to be evicted as she is desperate for a solution. Just when things can’t get worse she gets a call and expected to attend her stepsisters week long engagement party, who the hell needs to show off that much?
Maybe her spiteful stepsister that stole her high school boyfriend and the now soon to be groom.

I Summoned a Demon for a Date was such a fun and unexpectedly adorable read! It had all the makings of a light-hearted fantasy romance — complete with a mysterious, attractive, and (conveniently) rich guy who swoops in to save the day. Definitely a storyline that plays into every girl’s fantasy just a little.

What I really appreciated was that Rosie, the female lead, wasn’t just a placeholder for the romance. The author gave her some real personality and depth, which made the story more engaging than I initially expected. And despite the title (and the presence of an actual demon), the story somehow managed to feel… sweet? Yes, sweet. It’s a weird word to use for a book involving demonic dating, but it fits!

Overall, this was a super cute and easy read — perfect for when you want something light but entertaining. I definitely recommend it if you’re in the mood for a bit of magical romance with a twist.

This was such a fun and cute read and it was a page turner for me. Rosie has a dog pile of problems, least of which is having to go to her nasty step-sister's engagement party. She sets out to summon a demon to help her by being her date... Things don't go as either she, or Aldaine expect ;P She managed to summon him without his name and he's blown away by that. Thankfully, he accepts her fake boyfriend contract, in exchange for her soul, but she gets the upper hand on that, too. I giggled away when he figured out he didn't get all the details but I love that he fully had her back with her wretched family. If you love monster romance with humour, snark, family drama and hot spice for fated mates, you'll love this one. I found it highly entertaining and hope we get more books set in this world. Good fun!

Great, easy read book.

Rosie's life is at an all-time low. She's lost her job, the eviction notice is looming and to top it all off she has to attend a week-long engagement party for her evil stepsister! In desperation, she turns to the old book she acquired and decides to make a deal with a demon, I mean what could possibly go wrong, right?!

Aldaine, top of the food chain in the demon world is going about his business when he suddenly appears in a humans apartment, he's been summoned, but how? And why? Totally intrigued by Rosie and instantly drawn to her he decides to make a deal. As they shake on it, his world is turned upside down.. mate?

Great story of how Rosie and Aldaine's relationship evolves and grows. How she overcomes the difficult family relationships and how they find their HEA

First off, let me just say I really loved this reconnection with Aspen Black as an author. I first started reading another one of her series and I've since gone back to it over and over. It's quite possibly my favorite comfort read.

This one is on the list of books I'd return to in a moment. The little bit of angst that we got. The turmoil in tying Rosie to himself for all of eternity and the obvious blinding love in the face of all that hatred. Just the perfect icing on the cake. Truly could not get enough of how everyone rallied around Rosie once her stepsister continued to show her true colors and I simply devoured this book from beginning to end.

This one is a must read. There's lust, love, turmoil and utter devotion all packaged up in one book. And honestly it had me on the edge of my seat. Loved the ending, loved their coming together. Can't wait for more from this author.

I was looking for a fun and sexy paranormal romance to read. I read many of Aspen Black books before and knew it would be a good book!

And I was not let down it was! There was such a good balance of funny, good storyline, sexy times and faded mates in the mix.

Even with the shortness of the book, there were still a good amount of background on both of the main character characters as well as background on the family dynamics of Rosie.

There is definitely some meanness and bullying towards Rosie from her step sister and an ex boyfriend but Aldaine was there to stand up for her and it was great to see you.

There were some good side characters that I really hope she writes some more stories about. I would love to see more in this universe.

Rosie was desperate to try anything no job, about to be evicted and suppose to be at her step-sisters engagement party, so with a circle of salt and a cheap spell book in her hand she was summoning a demon and after two hours why was it not working? Stephany her step-sister always made her feel less than. What was a girl going to do? Well then to her shock the demon did appear, and he was not happy about it all. Plus, how could she make him appear when she did not even know his name. Guess she was going to give up her soul or was she? Want was happening between her and Aldaine and what is he holding back on something he does not want to tell her? Such a good story to relax with after a long day.

4 stars, sweet demon romance, fated mates.
Imagine being so desperate to not go alone to your step-sisters engagement party....that you summon a demon and require a date for your soul.
Rosie has had it with her nasty step-sister looking down her nose at her. So on a whim she uses a book she found in the discount bin to summon a demon. Supposed to be quick and easy, fake boyfriend for her soul. Only fate takes an unexpected turn when the demon in question may just happen to be fated to Rosie.
Aldaine knows his life isn't easy and he doesn't want to take away Rosie's choice, he takes her contract to be closer to her. Between evil step-sisters and evil exes, Aldaine has his work cut out for fake boyfriend week.

Aspen gives us a fantastic standalone book! Rosie is desperate for help, she lost her job, is about to be evicted and has to go to her nasty stepsister's week long engagement party to her ex-boyfreind no less! So, using a generic summoning spell she tries to get a demon to help her and somehow manages to summon Aldaine. Unbeknownst to her, she's actually his mate, but he agrees to be her fake boyfriend for the week and gives her a "job" and a salary to keep her from being evicted. Thus begins a rollercoaster ride of emotions and events that lead them to their HEA. Dive into this beautifully written book with complex characters and plot twists that keep you turning pages throughout. I loved reading this story and highly recommend it. Don't miss out on this book!!

Rosie is hard pressed when her "dear" stepsister calls her to find out if she is coming to the week long engagement party.
While she was desperate and wanted something to happen, she did not expect the old book to actually work and she has no idea what to do when Aldaine shows up.
But they make a deal and he will accompany her to the dreaded party.
Incident after incident has Rosie's week looking better and better, while (I can't for the love of anything, recall stepsister's name) hers is looking worse for wear.

This was an absolutely charming, short story. It has people we don't like, it has redemption arcs and it has so much love.
I in particular like how karma hit in this one.

Definitely recommended to lovers of MF m0n5ter romance, with extra spice and sweetness.

Cute premise but problematic. Debating whether to finished it, currently at 67%.

The lack of communication between these two characters is next level. Like marking her before having a conversation about that doing so will seal a bond for eternity serious red flag. I’ll put up with this kind of behavior in a dark romance because unhealthy romantic behavior is literally part of the genre definition.

As for the writing of this book there are some inconsistencies that are frustrating if you are paying attention. For example: Side character who runs a business 20mins away but is staying in a hotel for the weekend but then later is staying in the house after there being a conversation that they didn’t want to stay in the house but suddenly they are?

First time reading Aspen Black and loved it. Fated mates, forced proximity, and fantastic characters. I highly recommend this book for the monster romance readers. I fell unconditionally in love with Aldaine. I wasn't sure if I would like Rosie but quickly became enchanted with her as well. I was thrilled with Aldaine falling first and hard, as well as how quickly Rosie found her strength. I couldn't read this book fast enough and didn't want to put it down at all. The writing has an imaginatively organic flow for me, and I loved the high spice level. I will absolutely be looking up more work from Aspen. I highly recommend this book for the monster romance readers.

This book is absolutely adorable. It has twists and turns, family drama, fated mates, and the female lead finding her voice.

What happens when desperation and a dollar store summoning book collide? A date with a very confused demon!

Rosie has just lost her job and is also expected to attend her stepsisters week long engagement. As the groom is her high school boyfriend and also her family shows is indifference to her unless it is to point out her shortcomings, she is STRESSING.

Aldaine is a very old and very powerful demon who does not give out his name for bargains very often, so when he ends up in a rundown apartment facing down Rosie, confusion is an understatement. But it's quickly turned to shock and glee when she outwits him in a bargain and he realizes she is his mate.

Can they keep their bargain a secret with the family? Can he convince her to stay with him after the week is up? Can he bring the heat of hell into the bedroom?

Spicy: 3/5 (Tail play, IYKYK)

Demon/Human

Triggers: Emotional abuse by family towards the main Female

Oh, I enjoyed this one, a lot! You know when there is a demon involved there is going to be some sort of carnage, but in this book it is Rosie that brings the carnage! But to be honest her step-sister and fiancé totally deserve what they get.
So Rosie has always been a bit unlucky-her high school boyfriend cheated on her, her step-mother always has it in for her, she's just lost her job and is about to be evicted from her flat, so she decides to summon a demon to get him to help her out. When Aldaine shows up her life changes drastically and, unusually, not in a bad way! Don't want to put any spoilers here but, by the end of this book, you will be smiling, I guarantee it!

OMG this was such a funny and remarkably so true to life.

Rosie didn't want to to show up to her sisters week long engagement party without a date. So she does what everyone would do, try to summon a demon. But it didn't go as well as the book said it would, or so she thought.

Aldaine was on his way to a important meeting, when the next thing he knew he was in a summoning circle. Normally this doesn't happen, especially by a newbie.

Sparks are flying and trying to figure out what is happening between the two of them. Include some hateful family and friends and you have a great story.

I Summoned a Demon on a Date?! by Aspen Black – Quirky, Cute, and Completely Charming (5/5 Stars)

This book was exactly what I needed—a delightfully weird, wonderfully whimsical break from all the heavy, dark romances I’ve been devouring lately. It’s quirky in all the best ways, with a dash of chaos, a sprinkle of sweetness, and just enough swoon to keep me smiling the whole way through.

The pacing was easy, the characters were lovable, and the whole vibe felt like a much-needed palette cleanser for my bookish soul. If you’re looking for something fun, fast, and totally offbeat (in the most magical way), this one’s it.

5 out of 5 stars. More demon dates, please.

I really needed to read this paranormal rom com!! Had me rolling and honestly was just so fun to read.

Rosie had lost her job, and is having a hard time of it. On the verge of loosing her apartment. When she goes back home she has to deal with the step sister who could or could not be the devil, she has her doubts. So what does any girl think to do with dealing with a step sister? If you guessed summon a demon you would be correct. Because why not make a deal with a demon. Enter Aldaine, and their story begins. It is one of humor and push and pull. Super funny and very entertaining. I would recommend.
