The Lost Dimension

Rate this book
An escape pod drifts through deep space—inside is a broken pilot with a warning from another dimension.

He’s Keith Maker, a preman escaped from the master race. In his universe, the New Men conquered the Commonwealth, enslaving everyone. Now the Dominion has breached the wall between realities to conquer this one.

Star Watch has never faced an enemy so brilliant, fearless, and ruthless— armed with weapons that slice through shields.

But these New Men have never faced Maddox.

And he’s not about to let this dimension fall without a fight.

THE LOST DIMENSION is Book 23 in Vaughn Heppner’s million-selling Lost Starship series—a saga of high-stakes space war, alien tech, and do-or-die missions beyond the edge of the galaxy.

I was born in Canada and remember as a small boy crawling in my snow-fort. I closed my eyes, and when I tried to open them, they were frozen shut. I didn't panic, but wiped away the ice crystals, unglued my eyes and kept on building my tunnel. Those were great days! I moved to Central California before seventh grade and couldn't believe I lived in a land where oranges grew on trees and you could pick grapes from the vine.

I used to wonder what I wanted to do with my life, what kind of work specifically. I was miserable not knowing and bordering on desperate. Then one day a friend gave me his typewriter. I began working on a novel. A different person told me it was much easier on a computer, so I bought one and began getting up at 4:30 A.M. each morning before work, writing for three hours. My eyes were unglued once again as the pang of misery left my gut. I knew exactly what I wanted to do: write. So now that's what I do, I write, and write, and write, and I love it.

Holy Toledo!!😱

I mean, 😳….. the common Wealth and Star Watch just cannot catch a break! Now there’s a whole new threat, and it’s not good!! These people are new enemies to the Galaxy; powerful, technologically better and their man power and ships are innumerable! Top that off with Star Watch still trying to recover from the last war against the Leviathans, plus the ongoing threat of the New Men and it is not looking good for the Common Wealth and humans, especially since there is every likelihood the New Men & in particular, Emperor Tahery will try to befriend these new conquerors in order to take his piece of the pie and finally be able to conquer the Common wealth. How this new threat (Dominion) will see and treat the New Men of this Galaxy is unknown and a huge concern! . The things that occur: unsuspecting situations on planets & on ships, weird processing and actions by normally trusted technology, as well as known, yet the unexpected species who show up in the weirdest place and time and with ill intentions, and then there’s those who step up and do clever and heroic acts, they’re all surprising. But people are hurt or killed and some are changed, individually, in different ways, maybe permanently. Will it be for the better or worse? That’s the question. The other huge threat— the anti-human improvement groups; the same group that has been gaining support for years. They’ve infiltrated Star Watch at the highest level & their intelligence board. They’re calling for all altered humans to be banned from Star Watch & they won’t stop there. Even after everything Maddox has done to save and keep safe the Common Wealth, they still hate him and want nothing but to remove him from Star Watch, the Victory and ultimately from existence. What will they do now that this new threat is here?
This one’s a doozy! 👍😉
Star Watch leadership is faltering & definitely does not appear to be up to the task of what has arrived with more coming and worse, the potential of an alliance with the New Men of this galaxy. Once again, what will all of this mean for future of the galaxy, the Common Wealth & all its citizens, Star Watch, & especially the crew of Victory because something VERY BAD, VERY POWERFUL, OUT FOR REVENGE with the ultimate plan for a POWER GRAB, because “HE” WANTS IT ALL—the entire galaxy.

Mankind faces perhaps its greatest threat in Vaughn Heppner's universe surrounding the gallant Captain Maddox, yet the military leaders protecting the various worlds populated by emigres of Earth downplay the danger. Maddox's uncle, who lives on the Library Planet which is ruled by a construct of the legendary Builders, risks his life to get a message to his nephew. But Maddox picks up only bits and pieces. Context will come later. Suffice to say, Heppner pulls out all the stops on this high concept. The New Men of another dimension, one in which they have conquered the human race, force a breach, looking for new worlds to dominate. They believe with their superior technology and massive battle fleet they can defeat the Commonwealth and add to their wealth. Heppner creates truly reprehensible antagonists, men who believe their superiority means they can kill whoever they want and enslave women to be their concubines. Maddox has his starship and his crew and he must convince a fellow Star Watch captain to work with him despite his disdain for modified humans. Maddox is half New Man and his wife comes from a planet known for producing extra strong residents due to its higher gravity. Through most of the book, Maddox's chances look pretty slim. He's got a few ships facing an invading force many times greater in size. Heppner loads up the twists and hurdles. And when death appears to embrace Maddox, he ... I won't finish. I totally enjoy these books. This one ends with a hell of a cliff hanger that just shows Heppner isn't done with Maddox. Good thing.

I have read every book in the lost Starship series by Vaughn Heppner, since the first book, "The Lost Starship" was published. The subsequent books have been uneven; some excellent and others not so much but in "The Lost Dimension," everything I loved when I first read "The Lost Starship, was there; fierce action, cosmic level conflict, well-thought-out science and technology, and complex characters

In the particular, the main characters are well-drawn and have grown, even changed as the series has progressed. The only criticism I have, and it is a minor one, is that a few perilous scenes were too easily resolved by technology as a sort of Deus ex machina. That being said, I highly recommend "The Lost Dimension" and look forward to the next installment.

Great Read

Vaughn Heppner has thrown down the creative juices gauntlet with a new, well thought out enemy for Maddox and crew to battle. Only its not Maddox and crew against the invaders. Humanity Ultimate doctrine to remove genetically altered personnel from Star Watch has gained majority in politics. Maddox is in their crosshairs, and High Lord Admiral Haig of Star Watch is a Humanity Ultimate doctrine supporter too! And the The New Men may exploit the invasion to their favor. How did the invading forces know so much about where to strike Star Watch? Get ready to read an exciting book!

Mirror image part 1

New men from another dimension. Maker, Maddox times 2 fighting to save the commonwealth. But from who? The invasion gets stopped but only for enough time for the commonwealth to make a stand . Another wild ride with the Victory that doesn't end with the last chapter. We will have to wait for a mirror image part 2. Can't wait Heppner spins yet another outrageous tale!

A great new enemy enters the galaxy

As a great new enemy enters the galaxy Maddox and starship victory have to deal with the problem as best they can even though the humanity doctrine is trying to get them out of star watch completely. What happens is exciting and makes you want to read the next book which is not out yet unfortunately.

The never ending Saga

Seems like Mr. Happner needs another outlet for his writing prowess. Book 25 and wants to do a #26 Wow, there are more books on Kindle to enjoy. It takes a while to get into the swing of it all, opening up this #26 and remembering all the background needed. So let’s see an end to a great series with a fond farewell !and many thanks.

Lost Dimension review

This was the best in the “lost” series. In the last at least half dozen books maybe 10.
I was surprised at how much I liked this installment, after the lumpiness of the last three books, or so.
Good work team !!!

Captain vs Lord!!?!

Book was pretty good. Haig showing he actually has a pair was surprising. The set up for the
coming conflict is absolutely off the chain! The series appears to have plenty of story to tell

another barn burner

There is only one thing I can say about this boo, Redad it! Heppner continues to challenge Victory and her crew with very different circumstances that seem impossible for anyone but Captain Maddox.

There's things to dislike about th portrayal of the characters but the story is very imaginative like the other books in the series. I hope he continues with it.
