Optimus Prime versus Megatron! Autobots versus Decepticons! At the dawn of the conflict, battle lines are drawn and sides are set... now legends will be made. The war that would define a planet begins in earnest -- and its revelations will shake the Transformers' world to the core!
Primacy completes the trilogy that began Autocracy and Monstrosity my link text. As with the first two, the story is set in Cybertron's past, and for a period piece. Livio Ramondelli's colored line art is well suited. It is the main draw for this reader.
Storywise, it is no Autocracy and that's okay. Autocracy shined because its story could stand alone. Primacy is designed to be read in tandem with Monstrosity; skipping one with make it an incomplete read.
If one has read the first two parts of this Dille/Metzen trilogy, it is recommended you get this.
This book has the story of Transformers before they left their own planet for earth. There is war and fighting and all that.
I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I can. I Love comics to bit, may comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.
Transformers: Primacy kicks off with Cybertron decimated at the height of the ancient war between the Decepticons and Autobots! :D Megatron is busily plotting away a epic assault designed to wipe out the Autobots but of course he has made a secret deal that is all primed to come back and bite him!
Transformers: Primacy art is exquisite with all the panels painted and looking like works of art on their own case! :D Ramondelli really shows all the characters to their full and the devastation of Cybertron is epically displayed! :D The destruction and landscapes vary throughout really giving the book the feel of taking place across an ancient battle field! :D The art really compliments the script by Metzen and Dille really emphasis everything in the script! :D This gives everything an epic quality that really pops off the script in glorious fashion that works brilliantly! :D
The characters themselves from Prime, Megatron, Metroplex and the rest are all out there being heroic on menacing in equal measure! :D Metropolis's confrontation with Trypticon is literally a battle between Titans and this is all up their on there on the page and is epic in every way! :D The way that Metroplex is outflanked is epic and the repercussions across the battlefield are equally epic! :D The response of Prime to this and Megatron's master plan is equally epic! :D The books sets itself an epic level and always matches up to this epic level! :D Everything works from the art to the script! :D The battles are visceral and epically staged amongst and incredibly envisioned landscape! :D World building drips off every page as well as introducing up to ned locations! :D At the same time new plots points are answered but at the same time new ones are set up! :D You get the feel throughout of the battle waging and it really has a visceral quality to it making you feel like you are the trenches as well! :D
This works brilliantly with the feel of the book which is essentially a continuation of the war that results in epic changes to the status quo! :D The revealing of the Decepticons being manipulated is brilliantly handled really changing the de facto situation which explains events in other books and at the same time sets up future plotlines! :D The introduction of Omega Supreme further expands out the world building really giving Transformers: Primacy epic depth that works excellently! :D Omega Supreme himself comes across as a fully realised character as well as Trypticon so their characters as well get the three dimensional feels as well rather than simply standing there as the ultimate weapons! :D Megatron's tactics with regard to the battle and Metroplex are equally brilliant and unexpected really shaking the plot up as the story develops! :D
At the same time we delve into what makes Prime and Megatron really tick and the references to their peace time events really gives the story a bits as we see how they have taken different paths! :D Transformers: Primacy does a great job of bringing all the characters to the for and really making them three-dimensional with shared pasts! :D This results in interactions and plots that are completely unpredictable! :D This works incredibly for the story as you don't know how this is going to work out! :D You never know who is going to be back-stabbed our outflanked at any moment and this gives the book and edge that that really adds to the tone of the book! :D The book never sits still and this keeps the plot flowing in un3eexpected directions that result in totally unexpected plot twists that will take you by surprise! :D The plot will certainly keep you hopping throughout and cheering at the developments! :D The characterisation is spot on and the plot works brilliantly in allowing for the characters development throughout the book! :D

A very good final volume to the Cybertron past trilogy after Autocracy and Monstrosity, but first volume is still far better than following ones and its storyline can be read stand-alone. Ramondelli's artworks are amazing, the Metroplex vs Trypticon fight was epic and the Prime vs Motormaster 80s' G1 cartoon reference was a blast.
Robots vs. Robots. Autobots vs. Decepticons. The age old war. The graphic novel details about the war before they left Cybertron to get to Earth. While the plot and elements are very well done, the art had a much less effect. Of course it would be much better as a physical copy but on the digital screen it is much too dark and much too black.
"A pretty dark tale of the everlasting Cybertronian war of the Robots"
The final volume in the Autocracy/Monstrosity/Primacy trilogy. The plot in this volume seemed to skip along at a much faster pace than the first two volumes, working hard to wrap-up the storyline as quickly as possible, in as few panels as possible. The story moved along quickly, but the finer details were sacrificed to make it happen. I really missed the finer details.
A bit disappointing closure to "Autocracy" trilogy - BBEG idea was cool and almost immediately disposed of, apart from Megatron's rather satisfying way of taking back Decepticon leadership there is not much epicness.
Still worth the read to get closure on possibly best Transformers books :)
Great art, dark and gritty. MegaTron has a good story arc, and Prime does a decent one too. Other characters are good as well, over all story is just ok.
A little background... I have seen a good amount of Transformers material, Cartoons, Comics, Movies, and the Video Games. I read the first one in this series and really enjoyed it, but I unfortunately didn't get the chance to read the second one before this one. Anyway, on to the review. The story is well written, much better than most of the cartoons and movies. In my opinion, one of the best things the Transformers franchise has done is show a really excellent good vs evil story. These comics make it better, by having moral dilemmas, and instead of just black and white, it throws in a little bit of gray. I would go into detail, but don't want to spoil anything. This series also reminded me of the Hobbit movies, by having the first one, with more story, and a little less action, to building up to this one, by having most of it a huge battle. The art is great, Characters are accurately portrayed, and even if they do change up the origin story, it makes sense. So don't do what I did, and make sure you read through the whole thing. There, now go home and read it.... if you are any kind of Transformers fan. Thanks to Netgalley, IDW Publishing, and Diamond Book Distributors for the early copy.
This has everything I could ever want in a Transformers story. Epic G1 goodness, including Trypticon, Metroplex, and Omega Supreme. Cybertron is truly a war-torn world by this point, and it ends one chapter but sets the stage for the greater conflict still to come.
On a lighter note, I thought the cover art was funny. From a distance, it looks like a bobble-head Optimus with a tiny body. Up close it is just Ironhide below, but I thought it was funny.
Anyway, fantastic art, great story. Highly recommended!
Whether I look at this as the third act of a three-act story or a stand-alone book, it feels a little rushed. It was still enjoyable, though. There were moments that were genuinely gasp-worthy and others that were a little puzzling. Perhaps the latter will turn out to be seeds for future stories. One thing I would lament the absence of here is something I've seen others criticize the presence of. Autocracy and Monstrosity both had their fair share of nods to the original animated Transformers movie. While some readers didn't appreciate this, I quite enjoyed seeing those familiar situations reworked with different characters or different outcomes. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't get any of those this time around. Overall, this trilogy added an interesting context to the well-known Autobot/Decepticon conflict. As before, of course, Livio Ramondelli's art is incredible.
Third in a series (after Transformers: Autocracy and Transformers: Monstrosity), this continues a darker take on the Transformers' backstory. Most of this volume focuses on Megatron's renewed assault on Cybertron after the events of Monstrosity, and the build-up and action are quite good. Unfortunately, the story ends on a weak note, with a nebulous new threat arising, followed by an overly easy resolution. Not the best finale, but at least everything before that was good... (B+)
transformers primacy by chris metzen It was that we looked into the war before the autobots left to go to earth, the destruction and devastation of cybertron was caused not by outside forces but battles with in. The graphics were detailed but dark in coloration of the computer.
Transformer fans will probably be happy with this book. Though I felt somewhat lost when reference was made to an earlier volume, the overall story was clear and interesting.
